Mr. Robert W. "Bob" Mossholder Jr., age 58, of 6415 Waverly St., Panama City, Fla., died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at his home. He had been a resident of the area for 23 years, coming here from Alaska. Mr. Mossholder was a retired staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed radio-controlled model airplanes and was a member of the Miracle Strip R.C. Modelers Club. Mr. Mossholder is survived by two daughters, Dana Bakanovic of Youngstown, and Bobbie Clark of Panama City; one brother, Richard Lee Mossholder of Klamath Falls, Calif.; and seven grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Mr. Mossholder's home, 6415 Waverly St., Panama City, FL, Saturday, April 7, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Funeral services for Mr. Gaither Ernest Sasser, age 77, of Panama City, Fla., who passed away Saturday, March 31, 2001, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Craig Hartzog and the Rev. Buddy Glass officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be the Sears Retirement Club. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, April 4, from 6 to 8 p.m.

JOSEPH C. 'J.C.' SCALF
A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold. Mr. Joseph C. "J.C." Scalf, age 66, of 510 David Ave., Springfield, Fla., was promoted to be with Jesus on Tuesday, April 3, 2001. He was a faithful husband for 40 years and a faithful father, grandfather and friend to many. Mr. Scalf was born in Elizabethton, Tenn., and moved to Panama City in 1958. He was a general builder and contractor for over 25 years. He was also city clerk of Springfield for 12 years before retiring in 1993. Mr. Scalf was a member of Callaway Assembly of God Church and served his country in the U.S. Marines. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barbara Scalf of Springfield; a son, the Rev. Jeff Scalf and his wife Shawn of Panama City; two grandchildren, Breanna Scalf and Josiah Scalf, both of Panama City; his mother, Laura Scalf of Panama City; a sister, Mary Godsey of Watuaga, Tenn.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at Callaway Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Bobby Thompson and the Rev. Don Price officiating. Entombment will follow at Garden of Memories. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, April 4, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Lavinia E. Sergo, 79, of Panama City, died Monday, April 2, 2001, in a local nursing home. Mrs. Sergo was a native of Lohrville, Wisc., and had been living in Panama City for several years. The family request memorialization by cremation.

Iris D. Worthington, age 85, of Caryville, Fla., passed away on Monday, April 2, 2001, in Bonifay. Funeral services will be held today, April 4, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church with the Rev. Wesley Hall and the Rev. Lavelle Enterkin. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Worthington is survived by a son, John E. Worthington and wife Linda of Caryville; daughter, Phala Jenkins and husband Herman of Panama City; sister, Teresa Duke of Caryville; granddaughter, Felicsa Sims; two grandsons, Jim Jenkins and John N. Worthington; great-grandchild, Daren Sims. Mrs. Worthington was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Elizabeth Lee and her husband Amos Worthington.

CARL GIVENS SR.
Mr. Carl Givens Sr., 86, of 1615 Friendship Ave., died Friday, March 30, in a local nursing home. He was a native of Eufaula, Ala., and had been a lifelong resident of Panama City. He was a disabled veteran of World War II. He is survived by four sons, Carl (Dorothy) Givens Jr., Edgar Givens, Lee Givens and Gerald Givens, all of Panama City; two daughters, Lillie Givens and Barbara Givens, both of Panama City; one sister, Mrs. Louise Sheffield of New York City; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Annie Clyde Givens of Panama City; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services for Mr. Givens will be held Friday, April 6, at 1 p.m. in St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 1021 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, with the Rev. Charles Bethea officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. Public visitation will be today from 1 to 8 p.m. The remains will lie in state for one hour prior to service at the church. The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Givens Jr., 1615 Friendship Ave.

BEATRICE JOHNSON HETTICK
Mrs. Beatrice Johnson Hettick of Panama City died in her home Monday, April 2, 2001, at the age of 89. Mrs. Hettick was born March 27, 1912, in Horton, Kan. After growing up in the Midwest she graduated from Missouri Western College with a degree in education in 1931. She moved to Panama City with her husband, Kennison Hettick, and their family in 1949. Throughout her life, Mrs. Hettick was actively involved in her church, community and family; teaching school, singing in church choirs, serving in the Alter Society and participating in Kiwanianes. Mrs. Hettick is survived by one son, Edward K. Hettick Jr. of Tallahassee; four daughters, Joyce Rhea Paul of Denver, Colo., Jo Ann Samukawa of Panama City, Marcia Howe Michael of Atlanta and Susan Lynn Hettick of Panama City; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Kennison Hettick; and daughter, Barbara Gail Edwards. Family visitation will be held at Southerland Family Funeral Home today, April 5, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m. The Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. The funeral Mass will be held at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church on Friday, April 6, at 3 p.m. Donations may be made in Mrs. Hettick's memory to the Catholic Social Services.

MABLE WRIGHT LUCAS
Mrs. Mable Louise Wright Lucas, 71, of 1411 Fortune Ave., Panama City, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 2, 2001, at Bay Medical Center. Born in Gantt, Ala., on March 16, 1930, Mrs. Lucas moved to Panama City in the early 1940s. Here she met the late Joel Lucas, and they were married on Dec. 12, 1944. Mrs. Lucas devoted her life to rearing her children and only worked outside of the home as a domestic when necessary. After her children were grown, she and her husband ran St. Andrews Seafood in historic St. Andrews together until his death in 1992. Her parents, Betty Mac Butler, Olen Wright and stepfather J.D. Butler, also preceded her in death. Mrs. Lucas will be greatly missed by her loving family. She is survived by her only brother, Ed Wright of Gantt, Ala.; her children and their spouses, Bobby Lucas, of Atlanta, Ga.; Betty and Donald Lee of Lynn Haven; Eric Lucas of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Janice Lucas and Lawrenso Burroughs of Panama City; and Carla and Henry Goines of Panama City; her grandchildren, Michelle Lucas, Erika Coachman, Sean and Janice Coachman, Eric Christopher Lucas, Chelsea Cogshell, Brandon Mays, LaShonda Knight, Clinton, Wesley and Lauren Burroughs; and her great-grandchildren, Antonio Robinson and Ashonte Coachman. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 6, at 2 p.m. in the Free Spirit Community Church with Pastor James Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. The remains will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at 1411 Fortune Avenue.

Jean Waller Moody, 74, of l3ll Bayou Court, died Tuesday night in her home. She was a lifelong resident of Bay County. Mrs. Moody graduated from Sullins College of Bristol, Va. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Junior Service League. She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Moody Jr., her parents, C.B. and Mary Lee Waller; a brother, Bill Waller; and a sister, Evelyn Stawchansky. She is survived by four children, Jane Moody Parker, James Russell Moody III and his wife, Joyce, Corine Moody Kasler and her husband, Jim and William R. Moody and his wife, Terri; eight grandchildren, Catherine Cox and her husband, Joachim, Russell Dorch and his wife, Dana, James Russell Moody IV (Jay) and his wife, Amy, John Moody, Ryan Kasler, Jacqueline Kasler, Kaitlynn Moody and Jason Moody; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Gayle Waller Smith; mother-in-law, Mrs. J.R. Moody Sr.; two sisters-in-law, Marie Waller Lee and her husband, Robert, and Mary Catherine Jinks and her husband, Les; numerous nieces and nephews; and her dear friends, Frank and Chung-Mui Wong, Rhoda Williams, John Henry Nix Moody. Funeral service will be Friday at l0 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Sally Jean Poston Peterson, 62, of 2723 County 390, Lynn Haven, died Wednesday morning in a local hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Panama City. She was a l956 graduate of Bay High School. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter A. Poston and Hazel Hubbard. She is survived by her husband, Larry L. Peterson of Lynn Haven; two daughters, Pamela Kelly and her husband, Harry, and Patricia M. Peterson; a son, Larry L. Peterson Jr.; a sister, Anne Carroll and her husband, Richard; three grandchildren, Jennifer Kelly, Zac Peterson and Jacey Peterson. Sisters-in-law, Delores Kramer and her husband, Robert, of Plantation, Fla., and Bertie Lou Reynolds of Panama City Beach; aunt, Lucille Ryals and her husband, Paul, of Allanton, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at l p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens .
