ROBERT JOSEPH LONG SR.
Mr. Robert Joseph Long Sr., age 77, of Panama City, Fla., died Monday, April 16, 2001, at a local hospital. He had been a resident of the area for four years, coming here from Tampa, Fla. Mr. Long was a veteran of World War II, the U. S. Navy, serving aboard the U.S.S. Dashiell-DD 659 from 1942 until 1948, seeing action in Tarawa and Leyte Gulf. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and was a former member of the American Legion in Wythville, Va. Mr. Long is survived by his wife of 55 years, Anna T. Long of Panama City; a daughter, Margaret A. Long of LaGrange, Ga.; a son, Robert J. Long Jr. and his wife, Theresa of Panama City; a grandson, Eric Robert and his wife, Laura of LaGrange, Ga.; a brother, Eugene P. Long of Tampa; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 19, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Fr. Marty Bratek and Fr. Andrew Lewandowski officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Eric Long, Greg Rodgers, Gary Rodgers, Michael Hite, Jack Donlon, and Thomas Figga. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home, today, April 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary Service to be held at 7 p.m. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Vickie Harrell and staff and Dr. Tom Maner. JAMES RODNEY MASON
Mr. James Rodney Mason, age 80, of 200 W. 17th Street, Lynn Haven, Fla., died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at his home. He has been a resident of the area since 1990, coming here from Homestead, Fla. Mr. Mason was a charter boat captain out of the Everglades National Park. He also worked for Southern Bell Company for 38 years. Mr. Mason loved fishing and to deer and bird hunt. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. Mr. Mason was a member of Lynn Haven Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge of Miami, Fla. He is survived by a daughter, Michele Cole and her husband Kerry of Southport; a son, Michael J. Mason of Lynn Haven; sister, Nadine Murray of Waycross, Ga.; and a brother, Harold Mason of Sessner, Fla. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Mason and two brothers, Myrle Mason and William A. Mason Jr. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 19 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Kirkland officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Anthony Arnone, Joe Moreate, Kerry Cole, Mike Mason, Lyn Roseman, and Daniel Feitz. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, today, April 18 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mamie Spradley, age 89, of Dothan, Ala., who died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center will be held at 2 p.m., today, April 18, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. BETTY VISTA BAIR
Mrs. Betty Vista Bair, age 93, of 1436 W. 11th St., Panama City, Fla., passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at a local nursing facility. She was a native of Wewahitchka and resident of Panama City for many years. Mrs. Bair was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She was an LPN and was retired from Lisenby Hospital in Panama City. Mrs. Bair is survived by a daughter-in-law, Betty Jean Walden of Pensacola; one brother, L. L. Lanier of Wewahitcka; nine grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Bair; two sons, Glenn Walden and Bubba Walden and a brother, Edgar Lanier. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 20, at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Frank Starling officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home on Friday, April 20, from noon until 2 p.m.

WILLIE MAE 'POOKIE' CARROLL
Mrs. Willie Mae "Pookie" Carroll, of 1802 Flower Ave., Building I, Apt. 102, died April 12, 2001, in a local center. She was a native of Sneads, Fla.,and a resident of Panama City for many years. Funeral service for Mrs. Carroll will be held today, April 19, at 2 p.m. with Brother Xerxes M. Snell, officiating. Interment to follow in Hillside Cemetery. The remains will lie in state at the church today from 10 a.m. until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at 1802 Flower Ave., Building I, Apt. 102.

FRANK COMER SR.
Mr. Frank Comer Sr., 78, of 1602 N. Palo Alto Ave., died Thursday, April 12, 2001, in Bay Medical Center. He was a native of Enterprise, Ala., but had been a longtime resident of Bay County. He moved to Port St. Joe where he met and married Louise Jones. Of this union, eight children were born. He was preceded in death by two sisters and seven brothers. He is survived by his wife, Louise Comer of Panama City; and his eight children, Bernice Comer and Elouise Mincey (Joe) of Panama City, Frank Comer Jr. (Janice) of Newark, N.Y., Lynda Kemp (Grady) of Panama City, Katie Potter (Otis) of Rochester, N.Y., Charles Comer, Howard Comer Sr., Gregory Comer (Iwaina), Howard Comer Jr. and Joe Vann of Panama City, Connie Vann, Iyneva Vann of Jacksonville; two sisters-in-law, Poshie Comer of Panama City and Hazel Comer of Colorado; one godson, Andrew Gainer Jr. Also a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nephews and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Comer will be held on Friday, April 20, at 1 p.m. in Miracle Deliverance Church with Pastor Otis O. Potter officiating. Public visitation for viewing will begin this afternoon from 1 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. The procession will leave the family residence of 1602 N. Palo Alto Ave. at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.

RAYMOND 'JOE' COOK
Master Sergeant retired Raymond "Joe" Cook passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2001, in Panama City, Fla. He was retired from the United States Air Force after serving 27 years. Msgt. Cook served in Georgia, Texas, Mississippi, Guam, Korea, Arkansas and California. After retiring, he served as MWR for eight years as general manager. He was a member of the 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Free Masonry Masonic Lodge of Valley of Tokyo Orient Japan/Korea. His mother, Gertrude Glover Cook and father, Albert Franklin Cook, preceded Joe in death. Msgt. Cook is survived by his wife, Mei Kuei Cook; a daughter, Joanna and Michael Jones of Maysville; sons, Patrick and Karen Cook of Leesburg, Ga., and Brian Thorson of Long Beach, Calif.; stepchildren, John Originales of Houston, Texas, Michael, Gabriel, Chris, and Mary Rose Originales of Highland, Calif.; grandchildren, Jason Boyd, Brandon Cook, Shane Brown, Ashley Cook, Dustie Jones, Adam Jones, Katie Rozelle, Haley, Calvin and Wesley Orignales; two great-grandchildren, David Brim McDonald and Brantley Douglas Boyd; brothers and sisters, Evelyn Alexander and her husband Cecil of Griffin, Ga., Lillian "Kitty" Cook-Morgan of Milner, Ga., Donald Cook and his wife Ann of Stockbridge, Ga.; Jackie McKaig and her husband Ray of Griffin, Ga., Robert Cook and his wife Janice of North Augusta, S.C., and Phillip Cook of Orchard Hill, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services with full military honors and Masonic Rites will be held at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Cook officiating. Interment will be at Milner Baptist Church Cemetery. DUANE JACKSON HANNA
Mr. Duane Jackson Hanna, age 75, of 95 Oakleaf Court, Panama City Beach, Fla., died Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at a local hospital. He had been a resident of the area for 17 years, coming here from Catlin, Ill. Mr. Hanna was a train dispatcher for C&EI Railroad for 35 years and worked for the Material & Fuel Company of Danville, Ill., after he retired from the railroad. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the American Legion and the Gulf Beach Presbyterian Church. Mr. Hanna is survived by his wife, Daisy L. Hanna (Sproat) of Panama City Beach; a son, Randall L. Hanna of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Nancy Byker and her husband Scott of Sleepy Hollow, Ill.; brother, Xon Hanna and his wife Kay of St. Elmo, Ill.; three grandchildren, Jeff, Ted, and Cori Hanna; and three great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Britany and Rachel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Pearl Hanna; and a son, James Duane Hanna. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, April 20, at Gulf Beach Presbyterian Church with Dr. Ken Churchill officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday, April 19, 2001, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Donations may be made to American Heart Association, P.O. Mrs. Frances Taylor, age 73, of 2929 Douglas Road, Panama City, Fla., died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at her home. She had been a resident of the area since June 1975, moving here from Colorado Springs, Colo. Mrs. Taylor was of the Baptist faith and loved to work in her yard and garden. She is survived by her husband, Mr. Milford Taylor of Panama City; a daughter, Rebecca Lynn "Becky" Taylor of Panama City; a son, Richard Byron Taylor of Portland, Ore.; four grandchildren, Jacob Lee Boddy, Matthew Allen Boddy, Spencer Wade Hall and Lester Lee Hall III; and a sister, Mary A. Muschara of Wetumpka, Ala. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 20, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Louis Consoli III officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Tony Michael Muschara, Keith Muschara, Joe Muschara, Tom Wilder, Paul Biller and Jacob Boddy.
