Mrs. Eleanor Childree, age 75 of Panama City, Fla., passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2001, at her residence. She was a native of Shorterville, Ala., and had lived in Panama City for 48 years, coming here from Eufaula, Ala. Mrs. Childree worked seven years for Southern Bell before moving to Panama City. She was retired after many years as the food service manager at Gulf Coast Community College. Mrs. Childree was a member of Central Baptist Church. She is survived by her children, Patricia Lewis and her husband, Jerry of Lynn Haven; Michael Childree and his wife, Cindi of Bonifay; Ronald M. Childree and Becky Scott of Islandlake, Ill.; and Sue Carolan and her husband, Jim of Panama City Beach; a brother, John Hayes and his wife, Janie of Tampa; a sister, Pearla Mae Hartis of Eufaula, Ala; nine grandchildren, Erin and Tiffany Lewis, Eddie and Chris Childree, Scott Reid, Amy Huggins, Morgan and Makenzie Carolan, and Dan Scott; and three great-grandchildren, Shelby, Alex, and Lucas Childree. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., today, May 12, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Barton and the Rev. Greg George officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

DONNA LONG
Mrs. Donna Long, age 71, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Friday, May 11, 2001, at a local nursing facility. She was a native of Terra Haute, Ind., and had lived in Panama City for 40 years, moving here from Anchorage, Alaska. Mrs. Long was a homemaker and a member of the Unity Church of Panama City. She was an Air Force wife and was a past member of the NCO Wives' Club and the Family Services Organization at Tyndall Air Force Base. Mrs. Long is survived by two sons, Kim Long and his wife, LuJean of Boise, Idaho, and James M. Long and his wife, Marie of Southport; a daughter, Bonnie Cosgray and her husband, Jerry of Panama City; a sister, Virginia Randolph of New Port Richey; six grandchildren, Cassey Bragg, Carri Nelson, Eric Cosgray, Amber Page, Zachary Long, and Kelli Webb; and six great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 4:30 p.m, today, May 12, at the Unity Church of Panama City with Minister Jo Ann Dubrouillet officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Unity Church of Panama City Building Fund.

GEORGIA ANNETTE RICH
Georgia Annette Rich, 40, of Everett Avenue, Panama City, died May 11, 2001, in her home. She was a district manager for the Panama City News Herald and was a member of Cook Memorial Baptist Church. She is survived by her parents, James and Grace Spears; son, Paul Ferguson; daughter, Amber Kline; brother, James Wesley Spears, and sister, Martha Sue Spears. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m., in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Kirkland and the Rev. Esmound Hilton officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. Those desiring to may make a donation to help with funeral expenses.

O.L. 'LEON' SNYDER
O.L. "Leon" Snyder, 78, died at his home in Bayou George. He was a native of West Virginia, and had been living in Bay County since 1953. Mr. Snyder served three years with the Conservation Corp Camp and was a graduate of the Merchant Marines Academy. He served in World War II, the Korean Conflict, Vietnam, and participated in action in North Africa, Italy, and the invasion of D-Day, afterwards retiring in 1969. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Frances E. Snyder. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, George and Pat Van Buskirk of Southport; grandson, Jeff and wife, Misty Van Buskirk of England; granddaughter, Ja-Ney Van Buskirk of Southport; special niece, Jeannie and husband, Larry Barefield; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family requests memorialization by cremation. In honor of Mr. Snyder, friends are asked to make contributions to Hospice.

ESTHER BELLE SOUTTER
Ms. Esther Belle Soutter, age 84, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at a local hospital. She was a native of Chicago, Ill., and a graduate of the University of Chicago. Ms. Soutter then went to work with Sears Roebuck and Co. During World War II she volunteered and served as an officer in the U.S. Navy WAVES. After the war she returned to work at Sears in Chicago, where she became their first female executive working as a division manager. After retirement, she moved to Panama City to live with her mother who had resided here for many years. Ms. Soutter was an active member of Grace Presbyterian Church and a member of the local WAVES. She is survived by a brother, Charles H. Soutter Jr. of St. Paul, Minn.; a brother-in-law, Roy Ostertag of Panama City; and seven nieces and nephews. Ms. Soutter was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Esther Soutter and two sisters, Barbara Ostertag and Caroline Wallace. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, May 14, at Grace Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Hal Jensen officiating.

LACHERYL 'SHELL' STREETER
Lacheryl "Shell" Streeter, 33, died Friday, May 4, 2001, in Miami, Fla. On Oct. 31, 1967, an angel was born to Ms. Iona McWhite in Panama City. The angel was named Lacheryl Devette Streeter. Lacheryl was a warm and caring person who devoted her life to her family. If you needed help, you could count on her to be there. She loved her daughter very much. On Friday, May 4, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, she passed away quietly. As Lacheryl departs from this world, let us remember that she shared the gifts of loving and caring. She leaves to cherish fond memories of life to a very devoted and loving mother, Iona McWhite; an only and devoted daughter, Kacynthia "Choont" Hunt of Panama City; six sisters, Elaine Sudduth, Maria (Eddie) Weaver, Vivian Abrams,all of Panama City; Vanessa (Jimmy) Jackson and Keva Smith of Miami and Deborah Ann Ross of Jacksoville; three caring brothers, Jeremiah (Teresa) Weaver of Orlando, Daniel (Tracie) Smith of Miami and Corinthians (Tameka) Ross of Panama City; aunts, Mattie Dunbar of Jacksonville, Mabel Dingwall of Tuscon, Ariz., Hazel Green of Panama City, Collye Manning of Panama City, Yvonne (Joe) Bowser of Panama City and Nell Smith of Panama City; one uncle, Robert (Cubie) Streeter of Slocomb, Ala.; 11 nieces; 18 nephews; like a brother, Kevin Streeter; godmother, Barbara Britt Brown, and a host of other relatives and sorrowing friends. Funeral services for Ms. Streeter will be held today, May 12, 2001, at 11 a.m, in Jesus Only Tabernacle Church. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.

LINNIE FOWLER
Mrs. Linnie Fowler, 92, of Graceville, died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at Grandview Living in Bonifay of natural causes. Funeral services will be held at New Home Baptist Church on Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. John L. Jones and the Rev. W.L. Sheffield officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with James and Lipford Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Northwest Florida, 2917B Optimist Drive, Marianna, FL 32448. Mrs. Fowler was born in Graceville on March 9, 1909. In 1926, she married Clayton Fowler, who was also a native resident of Graceville. In addition to the 29 years,Mrs. Fowler worked for Gold Kist Peanut Corp., she worked side-by-side with her husband tending crops and livestock on the family farm. Mrs. Fowler was a lifelong member of New Home Baptist Church, active church worker and friend to many in the Graceville community. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Fowler; a son, Hubert Fowler; and daughter, Dorothea McKnight. Mrs. Fowler is survived by a son, Tommy Fowler and wife, Lena of Graceville; daughter, Jean Weekley and husband, Charles of Tallahassee; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

EVA ROSE TAYLOR
Eva Rose Taylor, age 82, of Panama City, passed away May 12, 2001, at a local hospital. She was a native of Portland, Ore., and has lived in Panama City since 1976. She was a homemaker, and a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband, Willie N. Taylor, of Panama City; two daughters, Jeanne T. Armstrong, of Savannah, Ga., and Lynda R. Moore, of Portland, Ore.; a sister, Mary Baker, of Portland, Ore.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church with Father William Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today, May 14, with a Rosary service at 7 p.m. Asked to serve as pallbearers are Joe Faulkner, Bill Summers, Tom Adams, George Streff, Robbie Lane and Colin Adams.

Gwendolyn Garrett Guilford
Gwendolyn Garrett Guilford was born Feb. 10, 1955. Gwen departed this life on May 10, 2001, at her home on 1618 Palo Alto Avenue, Panama City, Fla. Gwen, affectionately know as "boot," fought a long, hard battle against her illness. Gwen's smile and sense of humor and kind heart will be missed deeply. Gwen's father, Joe Garrett; grandmother, Zinnie Reaves; and one sister, Rose Garrett, preceded her in death. Gwen is survived by her parents, Hose and Willie Mae Peterson; one son, James Balkom Jr.; two brothers, Tommy (Annie) Garrett, Anthony (Charlene) Peterson; five sisters, Zinnela (Charles) Peterson, Mary (Darryl) Thomas Jr., Lela (Wiley) Carter, Daina (Latoria) Peterson, all of Panama City, Fla.; Karen Peterson of Tallahassee, Fla.; three aunts, Dorothy (Joe) Dennis, Lynn Haven, Fla., Letha (Eli) Campbell, Atlanta, Ga., and with special love, Lillie (William) Washington Sr., Lynn Haven, Fla; five uncles, MA (Charlotte) Jordan of Lynn Haven, Jack Garrett of California, Frank Garrett of Daytona Beach, Bobby Garrett of Orange Hill, Fla., and Sammy (Emma) Peterson of Vernon. Darryl Thomas Sr. was Gwen's special brother-in-law, Latora O. McNear Jr. was a special nephew who lovingly called her "Pooh," a special niece, Nakia Cole, one Godsister, Chris Manfredi, and her son's fiancée, Juanita Nemeth. Gwen also leaves many more nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Many people had a special place in Gwen's heart. God has set a path in life that each of us must travel. Gwen lived her life to the fullest. She left this world with no regrets, she is at peace. The visitation will be held today, May 15, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary. The funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 16, at 2 p.m. at The Providence FGME Church, 318 School Ave., Panama City. Bishop Russell A. Wright Sr. officiating. LESLIE AARON HARRELL
Leslie Aaron Harrell, 91, of Chipley, Fla., passed from this life on Monday, May 14, 2001, in Chipley, Fla. He was a lifelong resident of Chipley. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of First Baptist Church in Chipley. He was a graduate of the 1933 Class of Chipley High School, Chipley. Honorary member of Northwest Florida Square Dancers Association. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Chipley, with the Rev. Michael Orr officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, at Brown Funeral Home, Chipley. Survivors include his wife, Lillian S. Harrell of Chipley; three daughters, Shelby and husband John McElligott of Pensacola, Nina and husband Don Brown of Chipley, Vicki Diaz of Gross Point Farms, Mich.; one brother, Gay Harrell of Chipley; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Susan M. Healey, age 67, passed away in her sleep at her home in Panama City. She was interred in the Catholic cemetery following a funeral service at St. Dominic's Catholic Church on May 14. The family requests donations be given to American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Lula Mae Mullins, 79,of Pine Log, Fla., died Sunday, May 13, 2001, in a local hospital. Born in Washington County, Fla., she moved to Bay County in 1942. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Pine Log Community Church. Mrs. Mullins is survived by her husband, Joe Elton Mullins of Pine Log; four daughters, Virginia Brock and husband John D. of Panama City, Barbara Bodie and husband Tommy of Pine Log, Patricia Kirkland of husband Johnny of West Bay and JoAnn Mullins of Pine Log; one sister, Lillie Belle Mullins of Panama City; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and four nieces. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 16, at 2 p.m. in Southerland Family Funeral Home Lynn Haven Chapel with the Rev. Leon Jenkins and the Rev. Kevin Bartlett officiating. Interment will follow in Gunlock Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7 to 9 p.m.

BOBBY EUGENE OSWALT
Mr. Bobby Eugene Oswalt, 68, of 220 Sands St., Panama City Beach, died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at home from complications of Alzheimer's disease. Bobby was a gradute of the University of Alabama School of Accounting and served two years in the U.S. Army. He retired in 1992 from General Motors Corporation after 36 years of service. He was a manager of engineering specifications and telecommunications, Warren, Mich. After retirement he moved to Panama City Beach in 1994 from Framington Hills, Mich. Bobby was also a member of Gulfview United Methodist Church. His parents, Richard Thurman (R.T.) and Myrtie Waldrop Oswalt; and a brother, James Ormond Oswalt, all of Northport, Ala., precede him in death. Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Joann Barnes Oswalt; two sons, Richard Jason Oswalt and wife Gail of Plymouth, Mich., and Jeffrey Steven Oswalt of Irvine, Calif.; one daughter, Kimberly Ann Ross and husband Michael of Tigard, Ore.; one brother, Charles Larry Oswalt and wife Jewel of Northport, Ala.; one uncle, J.R. Oswalt of Ralph, Ala., and two granddaughters, Rachel and Katie Oswalt of Plymouth, Mich.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday, May 16, at 2 p.m. in Gulfview United Methodist Chruch with the Rev. Jim Fillingim and Dr. Si Mathison officiating. Memorializiation will be by cremation. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Gulfview Methodist United Methodist Church, the Hospice of Northwest Florida or the Alzheimer's Foundation in memory of Mr. Oswalt.
