JANE ALICE FONTAINE
Mrs. Jane Alice Fontaine of Panama City died Monday, May 14, 2001, in a local hospital. Born in Buffalo, N.Y., she moved here in 1959 from Pensacola. She was a homemaker and a member of Central Baptist Church. Her mother and father, William and Lorrina Fontaine, and a brother, Dr. William C. Fontaine, precede her in death. Several nieces and nephews survive her. Graveside funeral services will be held today, May 17, 2001, at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Memorial Gardens with the Rev. JoAnn Dubrouillet officiating.

RONALD E. HARROW
Ronald E. Harrow, age 74, of Laguna Beach, passed away May 12, 2001, at his home. He was born in Stockton-on-Tees, England, and served in the British Army and the Merchant Navy. He traveled extensively before settling in Florida in 1985. He was a highly respected professional engineer, with many achievements in the pulp and paper industry to his credit. Ron is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth, to whom he was married for 43 years. He is survived by two sister-in-laws, Nancy Smith and Joan Burton in England. He was much loved and will be truly missed by his family and friends from many areas. A memorial service will be held at Southerland Family Funeral Home at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 17. The Rev. Charles Floyd will officiate. Contributions may be made to Humane Society of Bay County or at A.S.R.A.L. in memory of Ronald Harrow.

ALBERT HURLEY LANGFORD
Albert Hurley Langford Jr., 65, a native and lifelong resident of Pensacola died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at a local hospital. Mr. Langford was a graduate of Pensacola High School, class of 1954 and a graduate of Auburn University. He held the rank of lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Langford was owner and general manager of Langford Realty and a member of Perdido Bay United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Hurley Langford Sr. and Eileen Olsen Langford. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Cecelia Langford; four children, Gregory Langford, Christopher Langford, Wesley Durham and Donna Durham; three grandchildren, Tiffany Durham, Blake Bidwell and Shane Bidwell; stepmother, Mary Langford; mother-in-law, Mary McLaughlin; sister-in-law, Ouida Jones; son-in-law, Robert Bidwell and daughter-in-law, Vicki Durham. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 18, at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack DeJarnette officiating. Burial will be in Bayview Memorial Park. Visitation will be held this evening from 6 to 8 p.m at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family offers special thanks to Dr. Thomas Tan; Dr. Thomas Williams; Dr. William Zimmern and the staff of SINU and MINU at Baptist Hospital. FENNER LEE OWEN
Mr. Fenner Lee Owen, 68, of Ebro, Fla., passed away on Monday, May 14, 2001, after a brief illness in a local hospital. Born in Holmes County, Fla., he moved to Panama City Beach in 1965. He helped pioneer the "Long Beach" area on Panama City Beach where he owned Fenner's Garage, Ice House and Go-Kart Track. He also owned Fenner's Garage on Middle Beach Road and recently owned Owen's Garage on Thomas Drive. Mr. Owen was a member of Gulf Beach Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Shaddai Shrine Temple, Pythagoras Masonic Lodge No. 358 and was an avid outdoorsman. Two brothers, Mr. Jempsey Owen and David Herschel Owen, precede him in death. Mr. Owen is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Alma Rita Owen of Ebro; two daughters, Patricia Owens and husband Ronald and Trease Kloess and husband Ed, all of Panama City Beach; one brother, Carey Beasley of West Bay; three sisters, Genia Hall of Pensacola, Myrtle J. Petty of Gainesville and Lucy Mae Sally of Bartow; four grandchildren, Robin, Patricia and Brooke Owens and Sky Kloess, all of Panama City Beach; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be conducted today, May 17, at 2 p.m. in Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with Father Tom Weller, the Rev. J.L. McGarrity and friends officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Clark, Jeremy Joyce, Mark Adams, Allen Owen, Bill Humphrey, Danny Kitchens, Jim King and the Masons of Pythagoras Lodge No. 358.

PEARL INEZ SKIPPER
Mrs. Pearl Inez Skipper, age 86, of Broad Branch, died Wednesday at her home. Mrs. Skipper was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County. She was homemaker. Survivors include five sons, Donald Ray Warren of Hartford, Ala., Gerald Skipper of Grand Ridge, Tommy Skipper of Wewahitchka, Johnny Skipper and Reggie Skipper, both of Broad Branch; two daughters, Evelyn Rushing and Joyce Greene, both of Kinard; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday from Kinard Community Church with the Rev. Carlton Cain officiating. Interment will follw in Cypress Creek Cemetery in Kinard. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. today at Adams Funeral Home.

BOBBIE JEAN BANCROFT-VAUSE
Mrs. Bobbie Jean Bancroft-Vause went home to be with the Lord on May 17, 2001, after a brave battle with cancer. Bobbie was born on Sep.7, 1937, in Cottondale, Fla. She was raised in Bay County since her youth and was a proud graduate of the Bay High School Class of 1955 where she was a majorette in the marching band. After graduation, Bobbie left Bay County to marry and assist in serving her country as the wife of Major Walter Lynn Bancroft. Their travels took them many places and as far away as Alaska. Bobbie returned to Bay County and held positions at Beach State Bank and the Bay County School System. Most notably, she was a dedicated employee of the Bay Bank and Trust Company for 18 years where she held a position in the bookkeeping department and gained many lifelong friends. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Lillie Pennington's Sunday School Class. After the extended illness and passing of her first husband, fate united two high school friends. That relationship resulted in the addition of a truly special person and "Buddy" in Bobbie's life and in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Bobbie is survived by a loving and devoted husband, Mr. Harley "Buddy" Vause, of Panama City; a mother, Mrs. Roberta Pritchard, of Panama City; two sons, Mr. Michael D. Bancroft and wife, Kristy, of Panama City Beach, and Douglas L. Bancroft and wife Lisa, of Panama City; a faithful and loving sister, Mrs. Sarah Peters and husband, Edwin, of Panama City; a step-son, Mr. James E. Vause; and a step-daughter, Mrs. Lee Creary and husband, Greg, of Tallahassee. Bobbie was especially proud of her four grandsons: Douglas, Taylor, Kristopher, and Jacob, who will miss her dearly. She leaves behind four nieces: Pam Robertson, Tammy Sullivan, Sandy Oats, Karen Rollans, and one nephew, Pete Peters. Bobbie was preceded in death by her first husband, Major Walter L. Bancroft; her father, Mr. Charles Pritchard; and brother, Mr. Olan Pritchard. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Al Rowell officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m.

THOMAS JEFFERY DOWNS
Thomas Jeffery Downs, 23, of Panama City, Fla. died Monday, May 14, 2001. He was a resident of Bay County since 1988 moving here from Oklahoma. He was a lubrication technician for Tommy Thomas Chevrolet. Mr. Downs was preceded in death by his mother, Somchit Downs. He is survived by his wife, Christy Dawn Downs; four children: Brittany Downs, Quinton Downs, Camille Downs and Payton Downs all of Panama City; his father, Kenneth R. Downs of Callaway; three sisters: Bubpa Davis, Pranet Triggiano, Sandra Fuller and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy McCroan officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m. Honorary pallbearers are: Michael Rosen, Emmitt Stanley, James Isler, Jerry Droeder, Myron Guilford, Chris Davis, Kenneth Downs and Deion Lee.

Donald C. Bennett, 80, of Panama City Beach, died Thursday May, 2001, at his home. Mr. Bennett was a native of Neptune City, N.J., and has been living in Bay County for the past several years. The family request memorialization by cremation.

THOMAS ROWLANDS SR.
Thomas W. Rowlands Sr., 89, died on May 12, 2001under the tender loving care of the nurses at Glencove Nursing Pavillion. He was a Native of West Homestead, Penn. He and his family have lived in the Panama City, Fla. area since 1976 and are Jehovah's Witnesses. He is preceded in death by his mother, Harriet Ann Steele Rowlands; one brother, James Steele Rowlands; and father, Thomas W. Rowlands. He is survived by his wife, Grace E. Rowlands, and one son, Thomas W. Rowlands Jr., and three grandchildren: Ryan Thomas, Courtney Irene, and Annabel Victoria Rowlands. He was a foundry crane operator at Mesta Steele, in Pennsylvania and was skilled at pouring molten steel. He retired from National Rubber Machinery in Columbiana, Ohio. A Memorial service will be held 4 p.m., Sunday, May 20, at the Kingdom Hall Of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 724 W. 19th St. between Airport Rd. and Lisenby. The speaker will be Br. Glen Finley. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the Worldwide Work of Jehovah's Witnesses.

KATHERINE M. STEPHENS
Katherine M. Stephens, age 76, of Grand Ridge died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan. She was born in Okeechobee and a lifelong resident of Jackson County. She was retired from Florida State Hopsital as a charge aide. She is survived by her husband Joe Stephens of Grand Ridge; one son, Joseph Elwood Stephens and his wife Kathryn of Tallahassee; one daughter, Dianne Ray and her husband Barney of Lynn Haven; three brothers: Archie "Buddy Boy" Matthews and his wife Onita of Tampa, Robert Matthews and his wife Edna, Coleman Matthews and his wife Martha all of Two Egg; two sisters, Myrtle Tipton of Marianna, Sarah Manning and her husband Albert of Montgomery; two grandchildren, Justin Stephens and Lauren Stephens; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held today, May 18, at 2 p.m CST at Maddox Chapel in Marianna. Burial will follow in Dykes Cemetery in Grand Ridge with James and James/Maddox Chapel directing.

HETAL PATEL
Hetal Sunil Patel, 24, of Panama City, U.S.A. Inn, died Monday, May 14, 2001. He was born on September 20, 1976. He was raised in Panama City and attended Panama City Christian School. He was a proud graduate of Mosley High School, class of 1994, where he was a top 10 student. After graduation, Hetal joined the U.S. Air Force and was currently stationed in San Antonio, TX. Hetal is survived by his wife, Lynda Webster, of San Antonio; his father, Sunil; mother, Bhanu; and sister, Alpa Patel. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 20, at 10 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, with full military honors being conducted by the Tyndall Air Force Base Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, from 6 to 8 p.m.

MRS. LAVERNE S. RUTLAND
Mrs. Laverne S. Rutland, 63, of 412 John C. Wells Road, Daleville, died unexpectedly at her home early Thursday morning. Mrs. Rutland was born June 3, 1937, in Bristol. She lived the early years of her life in Florida. In 1984, she moved to the Dothan area where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a member of Cowarts Baptist Church. Mrs. Rutland loved to fish and will be missed on the waters by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Lynwood Rutland, Daleville; a son, Richard Stone of Dothan; two half-sisters, Betty Sumner of Texas, and Marie Simmons of Graceville; five half-brothers: C.T. Sumner, Orby Sumner, Donner Sumner, Larry Sumner, Ronald Sumner, all of Opelika; a former daughter-in-law, Sylvia Darby of Quincy; numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 21, at the Cowarts Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Johnny Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Daleville Memorial Gardens with the Southern Heritage Funeral Home officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.
