Funeral services for Bobbie Jean Bancroft-Vause, who went home to be with the Lord on May 17, 2001, after a brave battle with cancer, will be held today at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Al Rowell officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Bert Gwaltney, Charlie Lahan, Dick Beach, Bill Polhemus, Merlin Allan, Jerry Sowell, Marshall Anderson and Kenny Ross. Honorary pallbearers are the Employees of Bay Bank & Trust Company.

ROBERT L. DANIELS
Robert L. Daniels, 83, died of pneumonia Wednesday, May 16, 2001. Mr. Daniels was a retired supervisor in the container division of St. Joe Paper Co. He was born in Kinard, Fla., and was a resident of White City, Fla., for most of his life. He is survived by his wife, Eunice, of Deltona, Fla.; a daughter, Delores Pattison of Sorrento, Fla.; son, Robert E. Daniels of Deltona; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, William "Bud" Daniels of Wewahitchika, Fla. Mr. Daniels was a member of the First Baptist Church of White City. Visitation for family and friends is today, May 20 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Comforter Funeral Home in Port St. Joe. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 21, at 11:00 a.m. at the White City First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Cypress Creek Cemetery in Kinard.

Mrs. Marie Day, 92, passed away Friday, May 18, 2001, at Mariner Health Care in Bonifay, Fla. Mrs. Day was a member of the Church of God by Faith. Mrs. Day was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hughes; her husband, Ralph Day; three sons: Horace, John Gilbert and Jack; and one daughter, Ruby Whitaker. Mrs. Day is survived by two sons: Tony Day and Joe Day, both of Bonifay; five daughters: Ruth Shehane of Columbus, Ga., Inez Wilcox of Bonifay, Sue Andrews of Bonifay, Geraldine Ward of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Katy White of Bonifay; one sister, Evelyn Robinette of Columbus; 31 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., today, May 20, at Sims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Moore, Rev. Mike White, and Rev. Rodney Cullpepper officiating. Burial will follow in the Bonifay Cemetery.

DEBRA MARIE VESS
Miss Debra Marie Vess, 8, of Panama City, Fla. died Monday, May 14, 2001, as the result of an automobile accident. Born in St. Petersburg, Fla., she moved here six years ago from Miami. She was a second grade student at Lucille Moore Elementary School and attended Forest Park Methodist Church. Debra is survived by her mother and stepfather, Patricia Vess and Larry Zinn of Panama City; grandparents, Don and Barbara Vess; uncles, Timothy, Christopher and Donald Vess, and one aunt, Theresa Vess. A memorial service will be conducted Monday, May 21, 2001 at 3 p.m. in the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel.

GEORGE ALVIN SOWELL
Mr. George Alvin Sowell, age 83, passed away May 19, 2001, at a local nursing home. He was a life long resident of Bay County. Mr. Sowell was a commercial fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the West Bay Community Holiness Church. Mr. Sowell is survived by his wife, Viola Sowell of West Bay, Fla.; stepmother, Etta Sowell of Panama City, Fla.; three sons: Lavon Sowell and wife, Mary L., Ronnie Sowell and wife, Flora, and Sammy Sowell and wife, Charlene of West Bay; two daughters: Jeanne Callahan and husband, Bobby of West Bay; and Judy Cooey and husband, Kenneth of Freeport, Fla.; three brothers: Victor Sowell and Lawrence Sowell of West Bay and James A. Sowell of Panama City; three sisters: Bertha Gordon of Winter Haven, Fla., Mamie Lee Goines of Panama City, and Mildred Johnson of Jacksonville, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, May 21, at The West Bay Community Church with the Rev. Leon Jenkens, Rev J.L. McGarrity and Rev. Joby Kirkland officiating. Burial will follow in the West Bay Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Mr. Sowell's grandsons: Bobby Callahan, Brent Callahan, Deck Sowell, Joey Sowell, Scotty Sowell, Jon Sowell and Steve Parson. ROBERT EDWARD 'SPEEDY' WILLIAMS, JR.
Mr. Robert "Speedy" Williams, Jr., 47, of 672 McKenzie Ave., died Monday, May 14, at his home. He attended the Bay County public schools and was a life-long resident of Panama City. He was a devoted auto mechanic and known to most as "Speedy". He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Edward Williams, Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving mother, Mrs. Reila M. Williams; daughter, Allison L. Williams; grandaughter, Nayijah K. Williams; stepson, Eddie J. Getter; sister, Florence Williams; brother, Willie Henry Roberson; niece, Natarsha Williams; great niece, Tamia Williams and a very special friend for the last 20 years, Idella Getter. Memorial services for Mr. Williams will be held Monday, May 21, at 1 p.m. in the Battle Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Lonnie Mitchell, officiating.

B.J. 'JERRY' CHIPMAN
B.J. (Jerry) Chipman passed away Saturday morning at his home in Panama City Beach. Jerry was born November 16, 1933, in Halls, Tenn., living most of his childhood in Dyersburg, Tenn. He was of the Episcopal faith. In the 1950s Jerry entered the Army during the Korean conflict where he was stationed in Europe. Upon leaving the Army, Jerry settled in Macon, Ga., where he formed the construction company Moisture Control. Jerry ran Moisture Control from the early 1960s until the early 1990s. While with Moisture Control, Jerry was heavily involved with SWR, a national organization involved in the waterproofing industry. In the early 1990s, Jerry co-formed Chip-Hill, of Panama City. He recently retired and was able to enjoy traveling, boating, family and friends. Jerry moved from Milledgeville, Ga., to Bay Point in 1989. He was a member of Bay Point Men's Golf Association and the Bay Point Yacht Club. As a member of the Yacht Club, Jerry served on the board of directors, as vice commodore and fleet captain. Jerry is survived by, and will be missed by, his wife of 31 years, Ivis of Panama City Beach; one son, Kent Chipman of Milledgeville, Ga.; three daughters, Abby Gordon and her husband, Mack Gordon, Jeneane Barber of Macon, Ga., and Katy Adams and her husband, Jimmy Adams of Milledgeville, Ga.; five grandsons, Wesley Gordon, Grant Gordon, Travis Chipman, Justin Adams and Jordan Adams. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Hospice of the Emerald Coast or the American Cancer Society. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronald T. Ball officiating. Joyce Page Gallagher, 49, of 8824 S. Holland Road, Southport, died Saturday, May 19, 2001, in her home. She was a lifelong resident of Bay County and a 1971 graduate of Bay High School. She was a loan manager for Tyndall Federal Credit Union. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lynn Haven and the Daughters of the Nile. She is survived by her parents, Russell and Vivian Page Sr.; two sons, Jody Miller and his wife, Samantha, Tanner Gallagher; two daughters, Kealey Gallagher, Lesley Gallagher; granddaughter, Karmyn Miller; two sisters, Barbara Tidwell and her husband, Ronnie, Carol Odom; brother, Rusty Page; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Fred Keith officiating. Entombment will follow in the Southport Memorial Gardens. Mr. Garner, age 66, of 1805 Wilmont Ave., died Saturday, May 19, 2001. Born January 24, 1935, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Mr. Garner had been a resident of Panama City since 1969, and is retired from Textron Marine. Mr. Garner is survived by his wife, Linda L. Garner; two sons, Bruce L. Garner and his wife, Colette, of Panama City, Rick Garner, of Stratford, Okla.; six daughters, Diana Queen and her husband, Russell, of Pensacola, Leann Symmonds, of Panama City, Michelle Pate and her husband, Roy, of Panama City, Nina Vigil of Norfolk, Va., Elma Garner, of Stratford, Okla., Linda Imperio, of Norfolk, Va; three brothers, Buck Garner and his wife, Billie, of Nogalas, Ariz., Bob Garner and his wife, Sandy, of Green Valley, Ariz., and Ronald Garner, of Tracy, Calif.; two sisters, Bonnie Morris and her husband, Dewy, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Karen Garner of Idaho Falls, Idaho; grandson, Steven Garner, of Panama City, 17 other grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services will be held Tuesday, May 22, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel at 4 p.m. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. EVELYN 'BILLIE' JONES
Evelyn "Billie" Jones, of Panama City, died Sunday, May 20, 2001, in a local hospital. She had been a resident of Panama City since 1939 and was a member of the Advent Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Jones. She is survived by a daughter, Karen Sansbury; granddaughter, Laurie Sansbury; and a grandson, Kevin Sansbury. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Wendell Owenby officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 6 p.m. today.

JAMES SOLOMON PATTERSON
Mr. James Solomon Patterson, age 78, of Panama City, Fla., passed away in a local hospital Saturday, May 19, 2001. He had been a resident of Bay County since 1932, moving here from Donaldsonville, Ga. Mr. Patterson was a veteran of World War II and attended the Church of God of Prophecy. Mr. Patterson is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen Patterson of Panama City, Fla.; two sons, the Rev. James D. Patterson of Easley, S.C. and Daniel "Gaylord" Patterson of Panama City, Fla.; brother, Clarence E. Patterson of Panama City, Fla.; sister, Johnnie Lee Sowell of Panama City, Fla.; and two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Buford Carter officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn.
