Funeral services for the Rev. Orval M. Reynolds, 96, of Panama City, who died Monday, May 21, 2001, in a Panama City hospital after a long illness, will be held today at 10:30 a.m. in Carlisle Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Kuhn and the Rev. Kelly Dixson officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Cemetery, Port St. Joe. Active pallbearers are Jamie Reynolds, John Reynolds, Mark Williams, Jack Cannon, Art Anconetani, Joe Price and Billy Pitts. Honorary pallbearers are the Rev. Reynold's grandsons and the Deacons of Carlisle Baptist Church.

DANIEL THOMPSON
Mr. Daniel Thompson, age 18, of Panama City Beach, Fla., passed away Saturday, May 19, 2001, at a local hospital. He was a native of Charleston, S.C., and had lived in Panama City Beach for three years, moving here from Kansas City, Mo. He was Baptist by faith. Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Melissa Thompson of Panama City Beach; his mother, Amy Burbaugh of Fort Myers; father, Allan Ray Thompson of Charleston, S.C.; twin brother, Denver Thompson of Fort Myers; brothers, Charles Dome and Mike Thompson; a sister, Ila Henderson of Atlanta, Ga.; maternal grandfather, Merle Burbaugh of Polk, Mo.; paternal grandmother, Bonnie Clenney of Hollywood, S.C.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, May 24, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Shoots officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories.

JAMES EARL VARNER SR.
SSgt. James Earl Varner Sr. (retired), 53, of 202 Helen Ave., died in his home May 17, 2001. He was a native of Panama City, Fla. After many years of dedicated service in the U.S. Army, he received a honorable discharge. He was a member of St. John Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving mother, Lucinda Mills; four children, Jacqueline Evette Varner, Eliza Denise Varner and Armilla Carlette Varner, all of Panama City, and James Earl Varner Jr. of Lake Charles, La.; five grandchildren, Tieghqua James Varner, Tyler Charyce Tizeno, Kelsey Danielle Tizeno, Josiah Elijah Varner and Siara Danielle Varner, Rocky Mountain, N.C.; one sister, Betty Jean McCray of Panama City; one aunt, Rose Mary Bell of Vernon, Fla.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for SSgt. Varner will be held Friday, May 25, at 11a.m. in the St. Paul AME Church, Springfield, Fla., with the Rev. Leon Jones officiating. Interment to follow in the St. Luke Memorial Cemetery in Vernon, Fla. The remains will repose at the church this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and will lie in state at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at 3601 E. 2nd St.

CARRIE ANSLEY WATERS
Carrie Ansley Waters, 93, passed away in her sleep at 3:45 a.m., Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at Beverly Emerald Shores Nursing Center in Callaway. Mrs. Waters resided in Bay County her entire adult life, spending time between her home in Springfield and her daughter's home in Tallahassee for 21 years before entering the nursing home 18 months ago. Mrs. Waters is predeceased by her husband, Rufus Waters and her siblings, Leslie D. Ansley, Frank Ansley, J. B. Ansley; and her twin brother, Benjamin Thomas Ansley She is survived by her daughter, Marguriete Belyeu; son-in-law, Myron H. Belyeu; and Jason, her only grandchild, all of Tallahassee; her sister, Edith Ansley Braud and brother-in-law, C. W. "Chuck" Braud of Panama City; sisters-in-law, Jessie Ansley of Springfield and Faye Ansley of Palatka; two nieces and two nephews, and resident friends and outstanding caregivers at Beverly Emerald Shores. Visitation will be today, May 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Pastor Scott Tyman of the Panama City Seventh-day Adventist Church will officiate at funeral services in Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 25. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family requests no food and recommends that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Panama City SDA Church Building Fund or to the Bay County Council on Aging Respite Center.

KENNETH 'BUZ' BUSBY
Kenneth "Buz" Busby, 65, of 7122 Taunton Lane, Southport, Fla., died Thursday, May 24, 2001, in a local hospital. He had been a resident of Bay County since 1956. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from the Civil Service at the Naval Coastal Systems Station. After retiring, he went to work for Tarpon Dock Metal Craft Inc. Mr. Busby was a member of Cove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Emily Harmon Busby. He is survived by his wife, Francine Grider Busby; two sons, Russell Busby and his wife, Valerie of Virginia Beach, Va., Ben Busby and his wife, Paula of Panama City; his parents, J.C. and Ninny Busby of Silisbee, Texas; five grandchildren, Jennifer Busby, Haleigh Busby, Melanie Busby, Hayden C. Busby, Madalyn Busby; four sisters, Veda Fitzgerald, Bebe Roberts, Kay Caraway, Vickie Byrom; three stepchildren, Stephen Grider, Richard Grider, Suzanne Tillotson; and nine step grandchildren, Timmy Woods, Jason Woods, Stephen Grider, Ryan Grider, Ashley Grider, Wesley Grider, Courtney Grider, Christina Tillotson, and James Tillotson. Memorial services will be held today at 6 p.m. in Cove Baptist Church with the Rev. Nathan Keen officiating. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the Youth Department of Cove Baptist Church in memory of Kenneth Busby.

LEO B. DeARMOND
A memorial service for Msgt. Leo B. DeArmond, U.S.A.F., retired, of Bayou George, will be held on Sunday, May 27, at 1 p.m. at American Legion Post 356, 400 Aberdeen Parkway, Lynn Haven, Fla. Mr. DeArmond, age 66, passed away on Friday, May 18, at the VA Hospital in Indianapolis Ind., after a short illness. He is survived by his wife Grace and two sons. Donations may be made to the American Legion Post 356 Building Fund.

Mr. Donald John Dresen, 59, of Parker, Fla., formerly of Madison, Wisc., died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at his residence. He moved to Parker from Madison in 1996. Mr. Dresen is survived by two sons, Scott Dresen and wife, Cindee, and Warren Dresen and wife, Gale; one sister, Sharon Dresen and one grandchild, Brian Hayward. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Madison.

LURENE WOMBLE FOWLER
Mrs. Lurena Womble Fowler, age 78, of the Carr Community, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 24, at Gulf Coast Hospital in Panama City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Lawson Fowler. She was a faithful, loving and fun loving wife, mother and grandmother. "Her children called her blessed" (Proverbs 31:28). Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Marlene and Paul Sewell of Port St. Joe, Virginia Moat of Carr Community, JoAnne and Pete Bass of Panama City, Linda and David Brown of Milton; three sons and daughters-in-law: Wilburn Fowler of Carr Community, Richard and Kim Fowler of Bristol, Roger and Vicki Fowler of Alliance; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Raymond, Marvin, and family, Cheryl, Alexandria, Savannah; Mary Lou and husband, Buddy, Delana and family, Billy, Jackie, David and Beth; Kari and family, Jerry, Scott and Heather; Delynda and family, Eric and Brantley; Laura and husband, Jay; Billy Joe and wife, Stacie; Jason, Steven, Krista, Brooke, Kara, Trevor, Devon, and Erin; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Viola and George Vartti of Hilliard, Fl., Halley of Panama City and Vergie Sims of Malone; one brother and sister-in-law, J. B. and Ruby Womble of Alliance. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m. CST in Poplar Head Baptist Church in the Carr Community with the Rev. Tim Bailey and the Rev. Marvin Nichols and other family members officiating. Interment will follow in Poplar Head Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Blountstown.

HUBERT RAY HALL
Hubert Ray Hall, 60, of Panama City Beach, died Saturday morning, May 19, 2001, at home after an extended battle against Multiple Myeloma, cancer of the plasma cells. He was a native of Gadsden, Ala., and a graduate of Auburn University, where he graduated with honors receiving undergraduate and graduate degrees. The Halls moved to Panama City from Atlanta, Ga., upon Mr. Hall's retirement from IBM. After his retirement of 30 years in marketing and management from IBM, Mr. Hall worked for a brief time on a consulting basis for Tourmaline Marketing Company, which was a computer industry-based firm. He is preceded in death by his father, William Hubert Hall. He is survived by his wife, Sheila Hall; a son, Lieutenant Jonathan Hall, United States Army, Fort Hood, Kileen, Texas; his mother, Aline R. Hall; and brother, William A. Hall both of Royston, Ga. A private memorial service will be held on June 23, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of First United Methodist Church of Panama City. The family requests that any contributions to be made in Mr. Hall's honor should be sent to and designated for research to the International Myeloma Foundation, 12650 Riverside Dr., Suite 206, North Hollywood, Calif. 91607-3421. Mr. Hall was a man of outstanding character, honor, integrity and intelligence. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Mr. Jason Harper, age 28, formerly of Panama City, Fla., died suddenly on May 26, 2001, of heart failure at his home in Jackson, Tenn. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Michelle Hobson Harper of Jackson, Tenn.; mother and stepfather, Glenda and Ellis Burke of Panama City; his father and stepmother, Julius Harper Jr. and Sharolyn Harper of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a daughter and a son, Ki'Ara Harper and Dontavious Dodd, both of Jackson, Tenn.; a sister, Kelly J. Harper of Knoxville; two brothers, Kyle A. Harper of Chattanooga and S. Jordan Harper of Panama City; two stepsisters, Quinton (Bob) Williams of Panama City and Patsy Robinson of New York City; his grandparents, Julius Harper Sr. and Anna Harper of Knoxville, Mariah P. Jackson of Panama City, and Ella Mae Burke of Panama City; aunts, Nettie (Ben) Jones of Ft. Wayne, Ind., JoAnn (James) Bradford of Rockdale, Texas, Wanda (Joe) McNeil of Mary Esther, Fla., Nancy Harper of Knoxville, Debra (Kenneth) Crockett of Haynes City, Fla.; uncles, Samuel T. (Christine) Jackson of Panama City and Heath (Letitia) Harper of Knoxville.Those who will miss Jason also include numerous great aunts, great uncles, cousins and friends. Edith (Bobbi) Kiefer, 92, of Panama City, died Thursday, May 24, 2001, in a local nursing home. She was preceded in death by her son, Donald Kiefer. She is survived by her son, Ronald Kiefer and his wife, Mary of Lynn Haven; daughter, Audrey Kiefer of Panama City; daughter-in-law, Mary B. Kiefer of Lynn Haven; nine grandchildren: Glen Kiefer, Michelle Kiefer, Stanly Kiefer, Angie Kiefer, Guy Kiefer, Britt Kiefer, Beth Oak, Sandy Dolan, Paul Bright, and seven great grandchildren. Graveside funeral services were held Friday at 3 p.m. in Lynn Haven Cemetery with the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating. May the angels receive you, mother, with open arms.
