CATHERINE ROWAN POWER CRAWFORD
Catherine Rowan Power Crawford, age 78, of 171 Byrd Dr., Panama City, Fla., passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2001. Catherine was born on Nov. 13, 1922, in New York City, N.Y., and lived in the New York-New Jersey area until January 1972 moving from Saddle Brook, N.J., to Port St. Joe where she was the owner-operator, along with her husband, of the Gulf Sands Motel on St. Joe Beach. She had been a resident of Panama City for the past five years. Catherine is Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, a mission church of St. Dominic's. She was president for ten years of the Ladies Alter Society, vice-president of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem with the rank of Lady Commander with Star. She was a member of the Rotary Club of Panama City East Bay, and was a Paul Harris Fellow and Rotary Foundation Benefactor. Catherine was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and the AMVETS. She is survived by her husband, William; daughters, Marilyn Maroon and husband, John of Clifton, N.J., and Carol Baratta and husband, Jack of Wayne, N.J.; son, John Power and wife, Mary of Oak Park, Ill; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, special sister-in-law, Margaret Rowan and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Catherine will be conducted Monday, June 11, at 10 a.m. in St. Dominic's Catholic church with the Rev. William A. Crowe officiating. Catherine will be returned to New Jersey for her final rest. Honorary pallbearers will include members of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, June 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. The family would like to extend a special note of gratitude to Margaret, Sheryl, Misty and the personnel of Hospice of Northwest Florida.

DOLLIE LEDFORD
Dollie King Ledford, 89, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at the Laurels of Greentree Ridge Nursing Home. A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Lillie Wines King and the wife of the late Rev. O.P. Ledford who died in 1992. Also preceded in death by a brother, Wayne King; two sisters, Dessie Mehaffey and Bertha Riley; a son-in-law, Bobby Kuykendall; and a great-granddaughter, Elena Aprodite Pistiolis. She was a homemaker and member of High Street Baptist Church. She was dedicated to her family and church family and she was a wonderful cook. She is survived by four sons and their wives: Johnnie and Dot Ledford of Charlotte, N.C., George and Peggy Ledford of Enka, Buddy and June Ledford and James and Brenda Ledford, all of Canton; two daughters, Betty Kuykendall of Panama City and Margaret and her husband Gus Koutris of Candler; 13 grandchildren; 94 great-grandchildren;three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. Christopher Willett officiating. Burial will follow in Bon-A-Venture Cemetery of Old Clyde Road. Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today, June 8, at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of James and Brenda Ledford, 19 Change Up Drive Canton, N.C. Waddie Ming Sr.
Mr. Waddie Ming Sr., 86, of 1325 Lincoln Dr. died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, in Bay Medical Center. It is much sadness that we say goodbye to our father, Waddie Ming Sr. Waddie was born out of the union of Mr. Cleveland and Ossie Ming in Coffee County, Ala. He was the eldest of 10 children, which included eight sons and two daughters. Waddie attended school in Pinkard, Ala. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1941. During his three years in the service he was stationed in Indianapolis, Ind., Italy and the Philippines. He received an honorable discharge in 1945 with the rank of Private First Class. Waddie married Miss. Beatrice Floyd in the early 1940's. Seven children were born from their union, four boys and three girls. He and Beatrice remained married until her early demise in 1965. Waddie began working for Sikes Concrete Pipe Co. shortly after his return from service. He worked there in the capacity of a short and long haul truck driver for approximately 40 years until he retired in 1982. During this time he was always a faithful member and fellow worshipper of the Greater Bethel AME church. Family members left to mourn Waddie's passing are his sons: Matthew Harmon, San Fernando, Calif.; Austin Ming, Oakland, Calif.; Lafayette Ming, Panama City; and two daughters, Barbara J. Allen, San Bernardino, Calif., and Gloria J. Thurman, Los Angeles. Among his siblings who remain to help ease our burden of having lost a father and their having lost a brother are: Collis Ming, Dothan, Ala.; Rex Ming, Detroit, Mich.; L.C. Ming, Dothan and Lorrean Ming Rowe, Saginaw, Mich. Among the others left to carry on the memory of Waddie are 13 grand and 15 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, cousins, other relatives, many great friends. Funeral services for Mr. Ming will be held Saturday, June 9, at 11a.m. in Greater Bethel AME Church with the Rev. O.C. Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Redwood Cemetery. Public visitation will began at the funeral home today at 1 p.m. A family hour will be held in Battle Memorial Funeral Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.

RAYMOND DWIGHT MOON
Raymond Dwight Moon, 86, of 3440 Highway No. 390, Panama City died Wednesday morning in his home. He had been a resident here since l933 moving here from Kansas. Mr. Moon was hired in March of l946 as Veterans Service Officer for Bay County and helped Veterans and their families for 31 years from all Counties including Bay. He turned no one away no matter where they came from. He retired in l977. Mr. Moon served in the U.S. Coast guard as boatswain's lst class on the USS Calcaterra escorting ships and troops in the Atlantic. He served from Feb. 5, l943, to Nov. 2, l945. He was a life member and commander of the American Legion, DAV and a member of the VFW. Mr. Moon was director of the Bay County Fair Association for 30 years, was a charter member of the Forest Park United Methodist Church, was a member of the Gideons and was a member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lucille Worthington Moon of Panama City; two sons, William Raymond Moon and his wife, Barbara of Minot N.D., Dennis Dwight Moon of Panama City; a daughter, Janice Moon Wilson and her husband, Walter of Augusta, Ga.; seven grandchildren, three great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter. Graveside funeral services will be held Monday at l0 a.m. in Evergreen Memorial Gardens with Minister Jack Reece officiating. Burial will follow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

LILLIAN ADELE OWENS
Mrs. Lillian Adele Owens, 84 of Panama City Beach died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, in a local hospital. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she moved here in 1969 from Williamsburg, Va. Mrs. Owens was a retired librarian and was a member of the Woodlawn Methodist Church. She was also the person responsible for creating the library, which was named after her, at Woodlawn Methodist Church. Mrs. Owens was known for her cheritable spirit at all the local nursing homes. She is survived by her two sons, Robert J. Owens and wife, Brenda, of Tallahassee and Ronald W. Owens and wife, Patricia, of Panama City Beach; one sister, Ireene Valentine and husband, V.E. Jr. of Tallahassee and four grandchildren: Robin, Cynthia, Brooke and Tricia. Funeral services for Mrs. Owens will be conducted Saturday, June 9, at 10 a.m. in Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Ball officiating. Interment will be private at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 9, one hour prior to service. Flowers will be accepted, but those who wish may make contributions to the library at Woodlawn Methodist Church in memory of Mrs. Owens.

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Sharit, age 82, of Panama City, Fla., went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at a local hospital. She had been a resident of the area since 1981, coming here from Birmingham, Ala. Mrs. Sharit was a homemaker and a member of Dayspring Assembly. She is survived by a daughter, Bobbie Jean Carroll of Panama City; two brothers, Aubrey Lee Bartee of Ohio and Edward Bartee of Locust Fork, Ala.; a sister, Mattie Lou Milstead of Orlando, FL; five grandchildren: Leslie Hallman and her husband J.D. and Brenda Kay Powers, all of Panama City; Stacey Randall Vaughan and his wife Debbie of DeFuniak Springs; Tim Sharit of Sylacauga, Ala., and Lisa Sharit of Sheridan, Ill.; five great-grandchildren; and her loving companion, Wiley L. Lovick. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steven Branscum officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Robert Brown, Ronnie McBride, J. D. Hallman, William Powers, Larry Miller, and Randy Harmon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, June 8, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Robert Ernest Dorman, 83, of 2519 Mercedes Ave., Panama City, died Friday, June 08, 2001, in a local hospital. He was a retired insurance agent for Liberty National Life Insurance. He had been a resident of Panama City since 1942, moving here from Hartford, Ala. He was a member of Hiland Park Baptist Church and David Brown Sunday school class. He was also a member of Acme Masonic Lodge No. 222. He is survived by two daughters, Ernestine Dorman, Deborah Revell and her husband, Pat, all of Panama City; four grandchildren, Kelly A. Bryant of Panama City, Robert C. Bryant of Pensacola, Mark H. Revell of Panama City, Ken R. Revell of Atlanta, GA; three great-grandchildren, Alexis N. Bryant, Angel M. Bryant, both of Birmingham, Ala., Travis R. Revell; three brothers, Benton Dorman and his wife, Mary, Hayward Dorman and his wife, Mary Catherine, Billy Joe Dorman and his wife, Thelma; three sisters, Lurean Austin and her husband, L.T., Martha Smith, Ruth Ferguson and her husband, Robert of Orlando, Fla. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donald Pickerill officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens with masonic rites conducted at the graveside by the Acme Masonic Lodge No. 222. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the Building fund of Hiland Park Baptist Church in memory of Robert Dorman. DAVID PAUL GUIDRY
David Paul Guidry, 34, of 2109 Allison Ave., Panama City, died Thursday, June 7, 2001, in a local hospital. He had been a resident of Panama City Beach for the past nine years. He was a member of BASIC and attended St. Bernadette Catholic Church. He is survived by his mother, Gwendolyn M. Elliott and her husband, Mark of Panama City Beach; father, Glenn D. Guidry and his wife, Sheila of Morgan City, La.; two brothers, Kevin M. Dubois of Fayetteville, N.C., Greg Guidry of Morgan City; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held today, at 5 p.m., in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron L'Huillier officiating. Interment will be in Morgan City with Hargrave Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 5 p.m. today. Those desiring to may make a contribution to BASIC in memory of David Guidry. He was loved by all that knew him, he touched the lives of many. One of the most impressive things about Dave was his faith and his postive attitude. He will be missed.
