She was preceded in death by her mother, Tina Hagan. She is survived by a son, Stephen Jones, four daughters, Tabitha, Laura, Ashley, Carrie; and adopted son, Darryl Allen. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating. Interment will follow in the Lynn Haven Cemetery. IDELLA H. TANNER
Idella H. Tanner of White City, Fla., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 23, 2001, after an extended fight with cancer. She was preceded in death by her father, Julian C. Hitchcock, and her mother, Mary K. Hitchcock. Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Jack R. Tanner Sr. of White City; her son, Jack R. Tanner Jr. and wife, Tammy of Altha; her daughter, Denise M. Harris and fiance, Richard McLaughlin of Panama City; two wonderful grandchildren, John B. Tanner (J.B.) and Breanna M. Harris; two brothers, Wayne Hitchcock and wife, Lisa, and Bobby W. Hitchcock, both of Tallahassee; one sister-in-law, Reba W. Pollock and son, Frank Flanagan of Orlando; and two nieces and four nephews. Della was a very loved person by all who knew her. God truly blessed her family by giving them such a devoted, loving, kind and all around wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. EDT at Comforter Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at Holly Hill Cemetery.

LOWELL FREDRICK ADAMS
The Rev. Lowell Fredrick Adams, 87, of Callaway, died Monday, June 25, 2001, in a local nursing home. He was born Aug. 26, 1913, in Laurel Hill, Fla. At the beginning of World War II, he was working as a linotype operator and teacher of typesetting at North Texas State University in Denton, Texas. As his contribution to the war effort, he moved to Panama City to work in the Wainwright Shipyard, where he served as an electronic technician. After the war ended and the shipyard closed, he worked as a linotype operator at the Panama City News Herald. He later moved to Slocomb, Ala., where he owned and operated the Slocomb Observer. After selling the newspaper he went to work as a foreman for the Opp News in Opp, Ala. In 1947 while in Opp, he received God's calling to go into the ministry. For the next 20 years he was a bi-vocational pastor serving mostly in rural South Alabama and Northwest Florida. During most of his ministry, he operated weekly newspapers and commercial printing businesses to support his family. Among these were the Samson News, Slocomb Observer, the Bulletin, the Advertiser Journal and the Morningside Sun. In the 1970s, he worked at the Gulf Coast Community College in the printing department. Among the many churches he served were the Hiland View Baptist Church, the Midway Baptist Church, and the Howard Carlisle Baptist Church. He was currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City. He wrote an article entitled "The Country Preacher" which appeared in the St. Joe Star and other weekly publications. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Lucille Daughtry Adams in 1998. He is survived by four children, Keith Adams and wife, Marie, Tommy Adams and wife, Joan, Sandra Wilson and husband, Steve, all of Panama City, Elizabeth Usry and husband, Don, of Thomson, Ga.; 10 grandchildren, Gary Adams, Kevin Adams, Lowell Adams, Dawn Cerf, Brenda Thompson, Steve Wilson III, Kim Wilson, Philip Wilson, Jason Pelt, Jeffrey Pelt; two brothers, Jeff Adams of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Darrell Adams of Clarksville; two sisters, Marlene Holley, Evelyn Attaway, both of Clarksville; 20 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. today. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the mission fund of the First Baptist Church of Panama City in memory of Rev. Adams.

Reginald E. Brown of Panama City, Fla., born Nov. 4, 1916, passed away June 25, 2001. He was survived by his wife, Ruby R. Joseph Fern Davis, 91, of Chipley, Fla., passed from this life on Saturday, June 23, 2001, in Chipley, Fla. He had resided in Chipley, Fla., since 1953, coming from Ariton, Ala. He was of the Presbyterian Faith and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Chipley, Fla. He was member of the Board of the Library, Kiwanis Club of Chipley and Man of the Year at First Presbyterian Church. He was the former owner of the Vance Theater. HAROLD RICHARD 'DICK' DAVIS
Lt. Commander Harold Richard "Dick" Davis, USN retired, age 84, of Panama City, passed away June 22, 2001, at a local hospital. He was a native of Choudrant, La., and had lived in the Panama City area since 1962, moving here from New Orleans. He was a retired lt. commander, a Pearl Harbor survivor and veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, earning a Purple Heart for injuries received during battle. He was a member of Cook Memorial Baptist Church, the St. Andrews Masonic Lodge No. 212, the Scottish Rite, Shaddai Shrine Temple, AAONMS, the Order of the Amaranth, and the Zollie Young High Twelve Masonic Lodge. He also was a member of the Oakland Terrace Men's Club, the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, USS California. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth "Libby" Murphy and husband Ray of Panama City; a son, Charles Emanuel and wife Anita of Fountain; his adopted daughters, Shirley Colson of Virginia, and Jeanette Williams and Sharon Ford, both of Panama City; a nephew, Jim Ford of Raleigh, N.C.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Alma Davis. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, June 26, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Morris Denman officiating. Interment with full military honors and Masonic Rites will follow from Forest Lawn Cemetery. If you wish, contributions may be made to Cook Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund in his name. HILT LAVELL HUNT SR.
Mr. Hilt Lavell Hunt Sr., age 79, of Panama City Beach, Fla., died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at a local hospital. Mr. Hunt was a member of Springfield Community Church. In the 1940's, after serving his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy, he met and married Margaret Nell Deese. Having the vision the Beach would soon become a major tourist destination, they designed and built several of the first of many motels on Panama City Beach. As the Beach continued to grow, he sold his piano, organ, and music company in Anniston, Ala., and Dothan, Ala., opened G&H Piano Co. in Panama City and moved his family to Panama City Beach from Cleburne County, Ala., in the early 1960s. Until he finally retired in 1995, H.L. Hunt continued to be a hotelier, continued to write and sing gospel music, and loved to invent and produce new things. He also continued to develop real estate, which included the first condominium development of Panama City Beach and later the first condominium conversion. Mr. Hunt is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret D. Hunt of Panama City Beach, Fla.; sons: Hilt L. Hunt Jr. and his wife Paula P. of Panama City, Fla., and William D. Hunt of Panama City Beach, Fla.; daughters, Carolyn Cartenuto and her husband Carmen of Panama City, Fla., and Deborah Ann Hunt of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Deborah's fiance, J. Brock Vaughn; a sister, Lecolia "Lee" Nichols of Ohatchee, Ala.; grandsons, Patrick Hunt and William D. Hunt II; granddaughters, Jennifer A. Hunt, Stephanie N. Drost, Anna M. Cartenuto, Summer Hunt, Danielle A. Cartenuto, Sandra Cartenuto, Amanda Carson and Johannah Carson; and a great-grandson, Hunter C. Bernard of Memphis, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings. Graveside funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with Pastor Hayward Miller officiating. Interment will follow. Mr. Albert Langston Sr., 76, of 634 Cone Ave., died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at his home. Mr. Albert Langston Sr., son of the late Ellis Langston and Laney Fisher, was born Nov. 13, 1924, in Apalachicola, Fla. He attended public schools in Apalachicola, Fla. In the afternoon of June 21, 2001, the Lord called Albert Langston home after a long illness. On June 4, 1945, he was united in holy matrimony with Rosa Lee Harris. Albert and Rosa resided in Apalachicola for 11 years and later relocated to Panama City, Fla. This holy union was blessed with 13 children. Albert Langston was employed at Cove Contracting of Panama City, Fla. On July 20, 1977, he accepted Christ into his life and joined New Beginning A.O.T.S. Church, Panama City where he served faithfully. Brother Langston leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Mrs. Rosa Lee Langston; seven sons, Mr. Albert Langston Jr., Mrs. Freddie Langston (Barbara), Mr. Ellis Langston (Gwen), Mr. Oscar Langston (Jenetta), Mr. Roosevelt Langston (deceased), Mr. Donald Langston, Mr. Darryl Langston (Jeannie); six daughters, Mrs. Claudine Ashe, Ms. Betty Sheffield, Ms. Earline Howard, Mrs. Linda McGandy (deceased), Mrs. Sharon Heaton (Stanley), and Mrs. Jackie Brown (Joseph); one brother, Mr. Oscar Lee Bolden (Lucille) of Moss, Miss.; 46 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, two brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Langston will be held Wednesday, June 27, at 11 a.m. in New Beginning Assembly of the Saints Church, 662 Cone Ave., with Bishop Lonnie Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Public visitation will begin this afternoon from 1 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.
