Frances Louise Chambers, 89, of Panama City Beach, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001 at her home. Mrs. Chambers was a native of Alabama and had been living in Bay County with her daughter, Mrs. Charlotte Reed for the past 10 years. Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, June 30 at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Ala.

Mona Marcell Hood, age 49, of Panama City passed away June 27, 2001. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 30, graveside at Evergreen Cemetery with interment following in Evergreen Cemetery. The Rev. Hayward Miller will be officiating. She is survived by her mother, Fay Christiansen of Tucson, Ariz.; three daughters: Kimmy White of Youngstown, Tammy Stalnaker of Panama City Beach and Nicky Morris; brothers, Pat Sullivan of Chicago, Ill., Mike Sullivan of Tucson, Ariz.; sisters, Faye Sullivan of Tucson and Lori Byers of Phoenix, and four grandchildren.

FLOYD WALTERS
Floyd Walters, age 83, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2001, at the Washington County Convalescent Center in Chipley, Fla. He had been a resident here for the past 17 years coming from Panama City, Fla. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Jackson County, Fla. He was born May 21, 1918, to the late Lonnie and Hattie (Rudd) Walters in Washington County. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 30 at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. John Meredith and the Rev. Jimmy Harrell officiating. Burial will follow in Kent Forest Lawn in Panama City, Fla., with Brown Funeral Home of Chipley directing. Survivors are his wife, Edith Walters of Alford, Fla.; stepson, Ferrell Northcutt and wife Sue of Panama City; stepdaughter, Margaret Pettis and husband Earl of Southport; brother, John Walters and wife Bonnie of Black, Ala.; sister, Lula Kent of Alford; five stepgrandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren; a special niece, Wanda Grick and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be today, June 29, from 6 to 8 p.m.

EARLE A. BOONE
Earle A. Boone, 91, of 905 Clay Ave., Panama City, died June 27, 2001 in a local nursing facility after an extended illness. He was born in Pensacola, Fla., and moved to Panama City in 1919, arriving on the steamer Tarpon. He was a Bay High School graduate, class of 1928, and attended the University of Florida. Mr. Boone was an insurance agent and real estate broker most of his adult life. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lucy J. Boone and two sons, Earle M. Boone and wife Birthe, and Roy H. Boone and wife Margaret. He leaves six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held in Wilson Funeral Home chapel on Saturday, June 30 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. C. Edward Britton officiating. Private burial services will follow at a later date in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Wilson Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. today, June 29. In lieu of flowers a donation to a local charity is suggested.

LLOYD REGISTER
Mr. Lloyd Register, 79, of Graceville died Wednesday, June 27, 2001 at his residence following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 30 at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Dale Worley, the Rev. Kenneth Taylor and the Rev. Jackie Register officiating. Burial will follow in Marvin Chapel cemetery with James & Lipford Funeral Home of Graceville officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, June 29, from 6 to 9 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or those wishing may make memorials to Hospice of Northwest Florida 2917B Optimist Drive, Marianna, FL 32448. Mr. Register was born in Holmes County, Fla. on May 29, 1922 to the late Rufus C. and Susan Tindell Register, He was a 1942 graduate of Poplar Springs High School and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Register was past owner/operator of Register Grist Mill, past owner/operator of Grandma's Kitchen, past owner/operator of Register's Grocery Store, bus driver for the Jackson County School System, farmer and retired from the U.S. Postal Service following 35 years of service. Mr. Register was ordained a deacon at Bethel Baptist Church and later served at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for many years. He was an avid lover of convention singing, where he sang in several churches in the tri-state area. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Lonnie Daryl Register. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bonnie Coil Register of Graceville; children and spouses: Mary Lou and husband John Johnston of Slocomb, Ala.; Betty Sue and husband the Rev. Kenneth Taylor of Panama City; the Rev. Jackie L, Register and wife Linda, Myrl and husband the Rev. Dale Worley, Gerald Register and wife Janice, Wanda Mattox and husband Estal all of Graceville; Washington County Judge Allen Register and wife Mary Ann of Chipley; brother, Rufus Register Jr. and wife Martha of Tallahassee; sister, Geraldine Jenkins and husband Arthur of Graceville; sister-in-law, Frances Register of Graceville; 22 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, host of neices and nephews. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Tony Taylor, Keith Taylor, Todd Bell, Chris Register, Dewayne Worley, Daniel Register, Timothy Register, Josh Mattox, James Bell, Robert Register, Dennis Register, A.J, Mattox, Michael Register, Thomas Register. Honorary pallbearers will be the Graceville Volunteer Fire Department.

Deacon Leon Hill, 77, of 1457 Carver Drive died Monday June 25, 2001 in a local nursing center. He was a native of Vernon, Fla., and a resident of Panama City for a number of years. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Vernon. He was a World War II Army veteran. He is survived of by his devoted wife of 55 years, Dorothy Mercede Hill of Panama City; two sons, Mark Allen Hill and Alvin Mobley (Ternicka) both of Panama City; daughter, Evyonne Battle of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; five grandsons, two granddaughters, one great grandchild; two brothers, Frank Hill and Junior Hill (Ruth) both of Vernon; three sisters, Eva Cotton of Panama City, Doretha Montgomery of Vernon, and Gertrude Belser of Carrollton, Ga.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Hill will be held Saturday, June 30 at 11 a.m. in Shiloh Baptist Church in Vernon with Bishop Richard Jenkins Sr. officiating. Internment to follow in Sylvania Cemetery in Vernon. The remains will repose at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Vernon this evening from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and will lie in state on Saturday in the Shiloh Baptist until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends locally at 1134 Mulberry Ave.

PRESTON M. McCLURE
Preston M. McClure, age 75, of Panama City, passed away Friday, June 22 at a local hospital. He was a native of South Carolina and had lived in Panama City since 1959, moving here from Columbus, S.C. He was the owner-operator of the McClure Upholstery Shop on Cove Boulevard for many years. He is survived by his wife, Flossie Lee McClure of Panama City; one daughter, Gwendolyn Potter and her husband, Elder Willie Potter of Lynn Haven; one son, Dozell Real of Panama City; five grandchildren: Remather Williams and husband Tyrone of Atlanta, Candice Potter, Therica Potter, and Jonathan Potter, all of Lynn Haven, and Willie Potter Jr. and wife Bobbie of Atlanta; four great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Rematha Hudson of Panama City; one brother-in-law, Thomas Jones of Panama City; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and two godsons. Memorialization will be by cremation.

ROBERT DUCK
Mr. Robert Duck, age 93, of 6508 Lazy Acre Road, West Bay, Fla., died Thursday, June 28, 2001, in a local hospital. He had been a resident of the area since 1932, moving here from Greenville, Tenn. Mr. Duck came to the area in 1932, to help organize the C.C. Camp. He was retired from Standard Oil Co. and also the Bay County School Board. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Duck is survived by his wife, Gladys Duck of West Bay; two sons, Robert L. Duck Jr. of West Bay and Billy Duck of Southport; two daughters, Evelyn Rushing of West Bay and Carolyn Simmons of Wausau, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, John Rexter Duck; father, Rexter Duck; mother, Lydia Morgan; sisters, Helen McAmis, Queen Bitner, and Mary Belle Duck; and brothers, Paul Duck and Edward Duck. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Monday, July 2 at West Bay Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Hutchins and the Rev. Leon Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow at West Bay Cemetery. Mr. Duck's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Sunday, July 1 from 6 to 8 p.m.

BRENDA LEE NOBLES
Ms. Brenda Lee Nobles, 37, of 373 Luke Forward Road, Wewahitchka, died Friday, June 22, 2001, in Bay Medical Center. Brenda Lee Nobles was born Feb. 11, 1964, to Dorothy Ruth Nobles and Willie Floyd Nobles Sr. Sharing her treasured memories are her parents, of Wewahitchka; two children, Heather Ann Scott and Shannon (Bubba) Riley, both of Wewahitchka; one sister, Emma Jean Nobles of Wewahitchka; five brothers, Tony (Renee) Nobles, Johnny Lee Nobles, Willie Jr. (Sheri) Nobles, Edward Earl Nobles and Curtis Lee Nobles, all of Wewahitchka; the granddaughter of the late Mrs. Mary Vann of Wewahitchka and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services for Ms Nobles will be held Sunday, July 1, at 2 p.m. in Faison Temple Church in Wewahitchka, with the Rev. Foster officiating. Interment will be held in the Williamsburg Cemetery. The remains will lie in state from 4 to 6 p.m. at Faison Temple this afternoon where the family will receive friends. The remains will also lie in state three hours prior to services at the church.
