Don Shoots officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Robert Davis Jr., Jimmy Theus, Tommy Riley, Budd Dyess, Mike McFatter and James Barr.

Funeral services for Katie L. Roberts Maglich, age 76, of Panama City, Fla., who died Saturday, June 30, 2001, will be held 11 a.m., today, July 4, 2001, at the Kent-Forest Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dewey Myers officiating. Interment will follow at the Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

JAMES M. BARNES
Mr. James M. Barnes, 84, passed away on July 4, 2001. He was married to the late Mrs. Annie L. Barnes who preceded him in death in 1998. Mr. Barnes was employed at Lloyd Pontiac for many years as a detailer. Mr. James Barnes had a pleasing and loving personality, he always greeted everyone he met with a beautiful smile. He will always be remembered by his loving family, daughter Lillie Ruth Jackson; grandsons, Wilbert Jackie Jones, and Clearthur Stanley, Cocoa, Fla.; niece, Maryland (Willie) Robinson, Jacksonville, Fla.; grandniece, Angela (Scott) Whitehurst, New York, NY; brother-in-law, Isaac (Emily) Grice; cousin, Zannie (Lessie) Crawford; dear friends Willie Griffin, Leornard Gaines. Visitation for Mr. Barnes will be at the mortuary from 3 to 8 p.m. and he will lie in state at the church from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2001 at 1 p.m. at Providence F.G.M.E. Church, 318 School Ave. Springfield, Fla., Bishop Russell A. Wright, Sr., Officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery.

CHARLES MERLE CAIN
Charles Merle Cain died on June 22, 2001 in Atlanta, at Haven House Hospice Care. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on July 14 at Hadleyıs Funeral Home on Fifth Street in Marietta, Ohio. A Quaker circle will held from 4 p.m. and 4:10 p.m. and Masonic Rites will be given 4:10 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

WALTER C. 'WALT' BUCHHOLTZ
Walter C. "Walt" Buchholtz, age 72, of Panama City, passed away July 4, 2001 at a local nursing facility. He had been a resident of Panama City since 1979, and was retired after 30 years service as a structural engineer with the Department of Defense. Mr. Buchholtz was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the Beach Optimist Club, and was a former commissioner, Lake Sands District, Boy Scouts of America. He was an avid stamp collector and a member of the Stamp Club of Panama City. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Margaret D. Buchholtz of Panama City; two sons: Walter F. Buchholtz and wife Janet of Southlake, Texas and Eric W. Buchholtz and wife Barbara of Cary, N.C.; one daughter: Gretchen K. Norris and husband Bob of Crestview, Fla.; one sister: Christine B. Carlson and husband William of Lakewood, Colo.; seven grandchildren: Byron, Jason, Ryan, Kristen, Kira, Zachary and Devon. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. today, July 6, 2001 at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wes Toncre officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Walt's name be made to the American Heart Association.

GILBERT L. HERMAN
Mr. Gilbert L. Herman, age 67, of 5924 Enzor St., Callaway, Fla., died Wednesday, July 4, 2001 at his home. He has been a resident of the area since 1970, coming here to Tyndall AFB, from a tour of duty in Vietnam. Mr. Herman was active duty U. S. Air Force for 20 years, and served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era. He loved to fish, play golf , and was Protestant by faith. He was also active in the AMVETS Post 2298 and a member of the VFW Post 8205. Mr. Herman is survived by his wife: Vesta M. Herman of Callaway, brother: Milton Herman and his wife Nancy of Manchester, Md.; nephews: Larry Herman, Terry Herman and his wife Luveric, Garry Herman and his wife Shelly, and Richard Lee and his wife Pamela; and a sister-in-law: Irene Herman of Hampstead, Md. He was preceded in death by: his father and mother:, the Rev. Clarence Milton and Lavenia Isabelle Herman and a brother: Richard Herman. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2001 at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Hodges officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with full military honors to be conducted by Tyndall AFB. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Larry Herman, Terry Herman, Garry Herman, Mike Carroll, Danny Sommers, Sonny Person, Larry Arnett, and Jim Harris. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, July 6, 2001 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. If you wish, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, 5514 N. MARY RUTH HUGHES
Mrs. Mary Ruth Hughes, age 86, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Thursday, July 5, 2001 at her residence. She was a native of Cottonwood, Ala., and had lived in Panama City for 21 years, moving here from Plant City, Fla. Mrs. Hughes was a retired reporter for the Plant City Credit Bureau and was a member of St. Mary's United Methodist Church in Cottonwood. She is survived by two daughters: June Eddins and Shirley David and her husband Clayton, all of Panama City, Fla.; five grandchildren: Charles W. Eddins, Keith Eddins, Deborah Eddins, Sid David, and Pam David; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: W.A. "Tobe" Hughes and a grandson: Michael David. Graveside funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2001 at St. Mary's United Methodist Church Cemetery in Cottonwood. Interment will follow. The family will meet at the home of Clayton and Shirley David, 1823 W. 27th St., Panama City, Fla., 32401. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.

Mrs. Paul Janet Sieverding, age 61, of Lynn Haven, Fla., passed away Sunday, July 1, 2001 at her home. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Kingery Funeral Home, (563) 872-4101 is in charge of the arrangements.

BUD LEWIS
Bud Lewis Mr. Bud Lewis, 92, of 900 East Ninth Court died Friday, June 29, 2001 in a local hospital. He was a native of Columbia, Miss., and a resident of Panama City for over 70 years. He worked with the J.R. Moody Co., building roads throughout the area. He also worked with the J.R. Asbell/Vulcan Materials Co. from which he retired after 30 years, and also retired from the Bay County School Board. He was a member of Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church. He served as a former trustee and senior choir member. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Murl Jackson Lewis. He is survived by his four children: Harvey Lewis of Montgomery, Ala., Jerry Lewis of Panama City, Jean Lewis of Queens, N.Y., and April Davis of U.S.A.F., Germany; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four sisters: Bernice Peters of Brooklyn, N.Y., Carrie Roberts, Alice Perry, and Josie Collins all of Columbia, Miss.; brother, Tommy Lewis of Columbia, Miss. and two sisters-in-law, Bell Campbell (Ben) of Panama City, and Kate Cotton of Quincy, Fla.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Lewis will be held Saturday, July 7 at 1 p.m. in Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church with the Rev. 0.C. Williams, Pastor officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. The remains will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time, and the cortege will leave A.D. Harris High School, 819 E. 11th St. at 12:30 p.m.
