Mr. George Edward Pitts, age 72, of 3333 Gainer Road, Chipley, Fla., passed away Friday, July 20, 2001, at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today, July 24, 2001, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Railey, the Rev. Albert Hodges, the Rev. T.C. Earnest, and the Rev. M.H. Everette officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as pallbearers are his grandsons, James, Andrew, Christopher, Jonathan, Ramon, Mario, Auston, John and Jordy.

COMER LEE SMITH
Comer Lee Smith, age 86,of 2104 W. Game Farm Road, Panama City, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at Glen Cove Nursing Home. He was born Aug. 11, 1914, in Walton County and moved to Panama City in 1946. Mr. Smith retired from International Paper Company in 1969. He is survived by his wife, Jewel Wooten Smith, seven sons, Grady W. Smith of Bristol, Fla., Joseph Linwood and Jahe Smith of Denver, Colo., Math W. and Gracie Smith of Panama City, Hilton L. and Linda Smith of California, James A. and Judy Smith of Panama City, Larry J. and Carol Smith of Punta Gorda, Belize, David M. and Marilyn Smith of Clarksville, Fla.; 23 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Hurtis L. Smith of Hendersonville, N.C., Jay Lee Smith of North Carolina; three sisters, Eunice Toole of Graceville, Fla., Earline Newsome of Pensacola, Fla., Essie Mashburn of Chipley, Fla. Graveside services will be held Friday, July 27, at 2 p.m. in the Lynn Haven Cemetery with the Rev. Donald C. Pickerill officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Those desiring to may make a donation to the Hiland Park Baptist Church building fund or the American Cancer Society in memory of Comer Smith.

MICHAEL KESHAWN PRIEST
Infant Michael Keshawn Priest of 4531 Carla Lane, Panama City, Fla., passed away Sunday, July 22, 2001, at a local hospital. Michael Priest is survived by her mother Crystal Priest of Panama City, Fla.; father Kendrick Addison of Panama City, Fla.; maternal grandfather, Mike Priest of Panama City, Fla., maternal great-grandparents, Fran and Billie Joe Priest of Lynn Haven, Fla.; paternal grandparents, Arthur and Mary Addison of Panama City, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Diane Priest. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. today, July 25, 2001, at Garden of Memories with the Rev. Mike McFatter officiating.

RANDY L. GRIFFIN
Mr. Randy L. Griffin, age 36, of 3502 E. Fifth St. Panama City, Fla., passed away Monday, July 23, 2001, at his residence. Mr. Griffin had been a lifelong resident of Bay County. He was a member of Brannonville Community Church. Mr. Griffin is survived by his mother, Dovie Mae Wise of Panama City, Fla.; two sisters, Debbie Nelson of Panama City, Fla., Debra Cowan and husband Clyde of Panama City, Fla; two brothers, Danny Griffin of Panama City, Fla., Mark Wise and wife Tressa of Panama City, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 26, 2001, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Brogdon officiating. Interment will follow at Lynn Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, July 25, 2001.

ALLEN CLARENCE KOSSOW
Allen Clarence Kossow, 76, of 1028 Pratt Ave. Apt B., Panama City, died July 23, 2001, in his home. He was retired from civil service working in the Aircraft Maintenance Department at Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach and also worked for the city of Panama City as a maintenance supervisor. He had been a resident of Panama City since 1978, moving here from Fort Walton Beach. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of the BPOE Elks, the Power Squadron, American Vets, and VFW. He is survived by his wife, Dusty Faye Kossow of Panama City; son, Wayne W. Cornelius; and daughter, Betty A. Tate, both of Tampa; son, David W. Kossow of Moneta, Va.; two daughters, Barbara L. Fickel and Dorothy J. Swisher, both of Panama City; brother, Robert Kossow of Mobile, Ala.; sister, Helen Stewart of Louisiana; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday.

ANN SNEAD WARREN
Ann Snead Warren, 69, of 3418 Lowe St. Panama City, died Monday, July 23, 2001, in her home. She retired from the shipping department of International Paper Company. She had been a resident of Bay County since 1939, moving here from Jacksonville, Ala. She was a 1950 graduate of Bay High School and a member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.E. and Eva Maude Snead; and her sister; Kathryn Snead Wheelus; and brother-in-law, James Roy Warren. She is survived by her husband, Ray Warren of Panama City; daughters, Pam Duncan and husband Mike of Lynn Haven, and Cynthia White and her husband Don of Floral City, Fla., four grandchildren, Michelle White, Michael White, Tommy Duncan, Chris Duncan; one great-grandson, Matthew Shippert; four brothers-in-law, Glen Wheelus, Loyd Warren and his wife, Mary Catherine, Douglas Warren and his wife, Bobbie, R.C. Warren and his wife, Ingrid; two sisters-in-law, Jeanie Warren, Annie Lou Allen, all of Panama City; niece, Kay Hildensterger of Millbrook, Ala.; nephew, Mark Wheelus of Tampa, and her very special friends the "Paper Dolls." Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Warren officiating. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the Hospice of N.W. KYONGCHA 'OH' SCHWARZENTRAUB
Kyongcha (Oh) Schwarzentraub, 44, of Callaway, died unexpectedly while vacationing in South Korea. She was one of the victims caught in the disaster mudslide which happened on July 15, 2001. She was a native of the Republic of Korea with permanent status in the United States. She is survived by her husband, Arthur, and two sons, Dustin and Daniel of Callaway; and one brother, Jon Kon and family of South Korea. Her sister, Youngcha and her two children died in the disaster with her. Services were held in South Korea on Friday, July 20, 2001. She was a dedicated member of SGI-USA. Services will be held in Callaway at a later date.

JAMES FRANCIS MOORE
Mr. James Francis Moore, age 71, of 7438 Georgia Ave. Port St. Joe Beach, Fla., passed away Monday, July 23, 2001, at a local hospital. Mr. Moore had been a resident of Gulf County since 1991, moving here from Indiana . He was a member and a deacon of First Baptist Church of Mexico Beach, Fla. Mr. Moore enjoyed coaching youth baseball, and he was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Mr. Moore was survived by two sons, James Moore and wife Pamela of Port St. Joe Beach, Fla., Patrick Moore and wife Becky of Highland, Ind.; three daughters, Cindy De Barge and husband Paul of Rensselear, Ind., Terri Maciejewski and husband Dave of Hammond, Ind., Debi Weltz and husband Doug of Westville, Ind.; a brother, Joseph Moore and wife Ramona of Highland, Ind.; a sister Charlene Siver of Coloma, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Snodgrass Moore. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 26, 2001, at First Baptist Church of Mexico Beach, Fla., with the Rev. Kevin Carter officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., July 26, 2001, at First Baptist Church of Mexico Beach, Fla.

ALMA 'JINX' NISSEN
Alma (Jinx) Nissen, 71, died at her home in South Walton County on July 22, 2001. Born in Port Clinton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Bertha and John Nissen. Formerly of West Chester, Pa., and Betterton, Md., she spent six months a year in her South Walton home until becoming a resident last year. Jinx served in the Army from 1950 to 1953. She had basic training at Fort Lee, Va., and was stationed at Valley Forge Army Hospital from 1950 to 1951 and Fifth General Hospital, Stuttgart, Germany, from 1951 to 1953. She was discharged as a corporal in 1953. Jinx worked at Merck Pharmaceutical, West Point, Pa., as a lab technician for 38 years, retiring in 1993. Jinx was a life member of VFW Post 10555, Inlet Beach, Fla., and was a very active member at the time she resided in South Walton County. She is survived by two brothers, Burnell (Buck) Nissen of Sandusky, Ohio, Alton (Red) Nissen, of Port Clinton, Ohio; four nephews and three nieces and their families. She will be sorely missed and fondly remembered as a caring and outgoing friend and companion by her many friends including South Walton residents Maris Atchison, Lorraine Bradford and also by Joan Hitchner and Louise Vandever (who served with Jinx in Germany 1951 to 1953). Jinx has requested there be no services. Those who desire may make donations, in her name to The Hospice of Northwest Florida, 2589 Jenks Ave., Panama City, Fla., or VFW Post 10555, 12678 E. CURTIS PENSION SHOOK
Mr. Curtis Pension Shook, 57, of Lynn Haven, Fla., passed away on July 5, 2001, in a local hospital. Mr. Shook was retired from the federal government. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Vouchny S. Shook; two sons, Robert Shook and Daniel Shook all of Lynn Haven and one brother, Carl Duggins of Arizona. A memorial service will be conducted on Friday, July 27, at 1 p.m. in Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ed Britton officiating.
