Mrs. Ruthie Mae Anderson Hardy, 82, of 2706 E. 7th Ct., Panama City, Fla., passed away, Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, in a local nursing home. Born in Dowling Park, Fla., she moved here in 1944 from Bonifay, Fla. She was a homemaker and a member of the Life and Praise Assembly of God Church. Mrs. Hardy is survived by her husband, William L. Hardy Sr. of Panama City; four daughters: Mary Lou Stacey of Fort Worth, Texas, Lena Anne Bales of Pasadena, Texas, Patsy Ruth Champion of Tate, Ga., Sharon Anderson Bobbitt of Panama City; two step-daughters, Rebecca Jean Wade and Rose Mary Kirkland both of Panama City; one step-son, Larche Hardy II of Panama City; one brother, Earnest "Buddy" Weeks of Wewahitchka; nine sisters: Pealie Lee Williams of Augusta, G., Alice Sessions of Fort Myers, Fla., Myrtle Burch of Parker, Myrone Edge of Wachula, Fla., Margaret Julius of Bartow, Fla., Annie Edson, Lena Weeks, Connie DeMille all of Wewahitchka and Stella Sassnett of Port St. Joe; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Aug. 4, at 2 p.m. in Callaway Cemetery with the Rev. John C. Broome and the Rev. Wally T. Davis officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. this evening at at 2706 E. 7th Ct., Panama City, FL.

VIOLA HARRIS
Mrs. Viola Harris, 80, of 1050 Lee Street, Lake City, Fla., died Thursday, July 26, in the Shands at Lake Shore Hospital in Lake City, Fla. She was a native of Demopolis, Ala. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined the Cement Baptist Church in Demopolis. Later she moved to Panama City, Fla., and joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. In 1936 she joined in holy matrimony with Mr. Warneather Harris Sr. until his demise in 1970. Viola was employed by the Bay County School System, where after serving 33 devoted years in the cafeteria of Bay High School she retired in 1982. A few years after retirement she became a victim of Alzheimers disease. She later moved to Lake City, Fla., with her daughter and loving caretaker, Ms. Eddie Ruth Jones, and resided under her care until God called her from labor to reward. She is survived by her two sons, Raymond (Betty) Harris and Michael Harris of Lake City, Fla.; three daughters: Eddie Ruth Jones, Lake City; Chris (Joe) Lewis and Carolyn Godfrey, Panama City; one brother-in-law, Eugene Cross Sr., Birmingham, Ala.; fourteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, many neices, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Harris will be held Saturday, Aug. 4, at 1p.m. in Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Louis Lamar Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Public visitation for viewing will began this afternoon at the funeral home from 1 to 8 p.m. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. On Saturday the funeral procession will leave at 12:30 p.m. from 512 Bob Little Rd.

KENNETH M. MYERS
Mr. Kenneth M. "Kenny" Myers, age 64, of Panama City Beach died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at his residence. Mr. Myers has been living in this area for the past 12 years after moving here from New Bedford, Mass. He was employed with the Brice Contruction Company, and a veteran of the U.S.Army. Mr. Myers enjoyed his work, co-workers, fishing and he loved his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Myers of Panama City Beach; three daughters: Alicia Stovall of Callaway, Theresa Myers and Andrea Barringer, both of Georgia; three brothers and one sister and ten grandchildren. Memorialization will be by cremation. Those who wish to make contibutions may do so to the Hospice of Northwest Florida at 2589 Jenks Ave., Panama City, Fla. 32405.

PEGGY NEWTON
Mrs. Peggy Newton, age 74, of Marianna died Tuesday, July 31, 2001. Mrs. Newton was a lifelong resident of Jackson County. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Marianna; active in the Joy Club and a volunteer for the Salvation Army. Peggy always had a smile and loved life, family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Earl Newton Sr. in 1987. Survivors include three sons: Bobby Newton and wife Linda of Bristol, James Newton and wife Marie of Compass Lake, Gary Newton and wife Kim of Crawfordville; one daughter, Debbie Barfield of Blountstown; five grandchildren and one great-grandson. Services for Mrs. Newton will be held Saturday, Aug. 4 at 10 a.m. in First Baptist Church of Marianna with Pastor Roland Gilliland officiating. Burial will follow in The Pinecrest Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight, Aug. 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. in Marianna Chapel Funeral Home. BONNIE REBA PEASLEY
Mrs. Bonnie Reba Peasley, 90, of Lynn Haven, Fla., died Wednesday morning, Aug. 1, 2001, in a local nursing home. Born in Burkesville, Ky., she moved here in 1988 from Nashville. She was a retired shoe seamstress, having worked at Jenesco Shoe Company for 42 years. She was a member of the Christian Church at Panama City and a member of the Lynn Haven Garden Club. Mrs. Peasley is survived by her husband, Curtiss Peasley of Lynn Haven; one daughter, Bonnie Deal of Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.; one son-in-law, George Triplett of Lynn Haven; one sister, Mary Boyd of Nashville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Gary Lane and Ariannna Wieman, both of Lynn Haven and Barry Deal of Ringold, Ga.; three great-grandchildren, Thosa Lane of Lynn Haven, Kelsey Wieman and Marisa Wieman of Lynn Haven. Funeral services will be conducted today, Aug. 3, at 10 a.m. in Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Arnold officiating. Mrs. Peasley will be taken back to Woodlawn Cemetery in Nashville, Tenn., for burial.

LUCY PETERS
Lucile Noble Mustin Peters, 90, noted artist of Panama City and Birmingham, died Tuesday, August 2. 2001 while visiting in Tallahassee. Born 1911 in Tuscaloosa, Ala. to James Mustin and Lucile Noble, she was known throughout the South as a highly gifted artist and portrait painter who worked in every medium. She majored in art at the University of Alabama, and studied under artists in Connecticut, Arizonia, Louisiana, and Japan. Examples of her work currently are scheduled to be on display at the Visual Arts Center, Panama City, beginning in October. A descendant of the Noble family who founded Anniston, Ala., she was preceded in death by her husband Urban Peters of Birmingham, Panama City, and Scottsdale, Ariz.; and by James Graham of Birmingham. Mrs. Peters is survived by her daughter, Linda Peters Weller and son-in-law, the Rev. Tom Weller of Panama City; granddaughter, Malinda Weller Kelly of Panama City; grandson, Urban Joseph Peters Weller of Novi, Mich.; granddaughter, Cathlyn Lucile Weller Spinks of Tallahassee, and great-grandchildren, Nicholas Weller of Dexter, Mich., and Ray Kelly and Kristen Kelly of Panama City; and by her brother, Noble Mustin of Mobile, Ala., Memorial services will be at Holy Nativity Episcopal Church, Panama City at a time to be announced. Interment will be at a later date in Phoenix, Ariz. next to her husband Urban Peters. MARY ANN SIMONSON PRICE
Mary Ann Simonson Price, 50, of Bayou George passed away Monday, July 30, 2001. Born in Burlington, Vermont, in 1950, she lived in Fairbanks, Alaska, from 1952 to 1954, Panama City, Fla., from 1954 to 1960, Ottawa, Canada, from 1960 to 1963, New York from 1963 to 1965 and settled back here in 1965 with her parents and family. In 1963 as a young ballerina she performed at the New York City World Fair. She was a loving mother, daughter and sister who will be truly missed by all those who knew her. Before her retirement while working for local restaurants such as the Shrimp Boat, Capt. Anderson's, 23rd Street Waffle Shop and Barnhill's, she truly enjoyed meeting people and felt obligated to make you leave with a smile. Her compact size was deceptive of her huge heart and genuine concern for people. She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Price and son John Price of Panama City; parents, John C. and Mary G. Simonson; brothers, Jack, Bob and wife Joy, Mike and wife Denise, Dick Simonson, and numerous nephews and nieces all of Lynn Haven; and many friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by the father of her children, Hurley Price. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 4, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Parker Msgr. William A. Crowe officiating. Interment will follow at Lynn Haven Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Wesley Pendarvis, Cullen Hartzog, Dennis French, Ryan Norris, Ed Lewis, Tammy Bowden, and Kevin Bowden. EMILY ANNE STUTZMAN
Emily Stutzman, infant daughter of Tim and Nancy Stutzman of Konigstein, Germany, born May 10, 2001, passed away June 26, 2001. A memorial service will be held Aug. 6, 2001, at 11 a.m. EST at Oak Grove Assembly of God Church in Port St. Joe, Fla. The service will be conducted by the Rev. David Fernandez. In addition to her parents, Emily is survived by grandparents, Ollie Stutzman and Inell Stutzman of Port St. Joe, and Patrick and Doris Helms of Albuquerque, New Mexico; four sisters: Amanda, Laura, Alexandra, and Lisa, all of Konigstein, Germany. After the memorial service there will be visitation with the family in the church fellowship hall.

Mrs. Gloria J. Thomas, 62, of 1204 Louisiana Ave., died Friday, July 27, 2001, in Bay Medical Center. Funeral services for Mrs. Thomas will be held today, Aug. 3, at 1 p.m. in New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Woodrow Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. The family will receive friends at 1204 Louisiana Ave.

MYRON CURTIS 'CURT' GILBERT
Mr. Myron Curtis "Curt" Gilbert, 72, of Beacon Hill, Fla., passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at his home. Born in Sun, W. Va., he had lived in Beacon Hill since 1995. He worked for SCM Corporation for 23 years as a chemical technician and managed the Dothan Mini-Storage for 10 years. Mr. Gilbert was Protestant by faith and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army and the U.S.A.F. He was a member of Tupelo Masonic Lodge No. 289 and the Eastern Star. Mr. Gilbert is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Gilbert of Beacon Hill; two sons, Reggie L. Gilbert and wife, Joni of Panama City, Curtis L. Gilbert and wife, Rosa of Panama City Beach and five grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on today, Aug. 4 at 11 a.m. CDT in Garden of Memories Cemetery with the Rev. David Nichols officiating. Masonic rites will be accorded at graveside. The lodge will open two hours prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of Northwest Florida in memory of Mr. Gilbert.

Mrs. Mary C. Moran, age 84, of Scottsdale, Ariz., formerly of Panama City, Fla., died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at her residence. She moved to Panama City and lived here for three years, coming here from Whiting, N.J. Mrs. Moran was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Daniel and Mimie Mikolay and John Mikolay, all of Scottsdale, Ariz., formerly of Panama City, Fla.; Richard and Gilda Aumick of Long Island, N.Y.; John and Mary Beth Mickolay of Massachusetts; and a brother-in-law, Michael Lipka of Whiting, N.J. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Moran. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., today, Aug. 4, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Father Ben Klucinec officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on today, from 10 to 11 a.m., an hour prior to service time.
