Mrs. Viola Harris, 80, of 1050 Lee Street, Lake City, Fla., died Thursday, July 26, in Shands at Lake Shore Hospital in Lake City, Fla. Funeral services for Mrs. Harris will be held today, Aug. 4, at 1 p.m. in Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Louis Lamar Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. Today the funeral procession will leave at 12:30 p.m. from 512 Bob Little Rd.

MARGARET ELIZABETH PEARSON
Margaret Elizabeth Pearson, 90, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at Dolphin House of Seminole. Born in New York City, she came St. Petersburg in 1973, from Bronx, N.Y. She was a homemaker and a member of Christ Lutheran Church of St. Petersburg. She was a member of VASA Order of America Sunshine Lodge in St. Petersburg. She served as secretary of the St. Petersburg Swedish Club. Survivors include a daughter, Carol A Pearson-DeBree, Seminole; two sons, John E., Youngstown; and George W. Ashburn, Va.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Blount, Curry and Roel Funeral Homes and Cemeteries, Memorial Park Chapel, St. Petersburg.

MARY ANN SIMONSON PRICE
Mary Ann Simonson Price, 50, of Bayou George passed away on Monday, July 30, 2001. Born in Burlington, Vt., in 1950, she lived in Fairbanks, Alaska from 1952 to 1954, Panama City, Fla., from 1954 to 1960, Ottawa, Canada, from 1960 to 1963, New York from 1963 to 1965, and settled back here in 1965 with her parents and family. In 1963, as a young ballerina, she performed at the New York City World's Fair. She was a loving mother, daughter and sister who will be truly missed by all those who knew her. Before her retirement, while working for local restaurants such as the Shrimp Boat, Capt. Anderson's, 23rd Street Waffle Shop and Barnhill's, she truly enjoyed meeting people and felt obligated to make them leave with a smile. Her compact size was deceptive of her huge heart and genuine concern for people. She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Price and son John Price of Panama City; parents, John C. and Mary G. Simonson; brothers, Jack, Bob and wife, Joy, Mike and wife, Denise, Dick Simonson, and numerous nephews and nieces all of Lynn Haven; and many friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by the father of her children, Hurley Price. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., today, Aug. 4, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Parker, Msgr. William A. Crowe officiating. Interment will follow at Lynn Haven Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Wesley Pendarvis, Cullen Hartzog, Dennis French, Ryan Norris, Ed Lewis, Tammy Bowden, and Kevin Bowden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Heart Association, P.O. Drawer 390, Panama City, Fla. 32402.

EMILY ANNE STUTZMAN
Emily Stutzman, infant daughter of Tim and Nancy Stutzman of Konigstein, Germany, born May 10, 2001, passed away June 26, 2001. A memorial service will be held Aug. 6, 2001, at 11 a.m. EDT at Oak Grove Assembly of God Church in Port St. Joe, Fla. The service will be conducted by the Rev. David Fernandez. In addition to her parents, Emily is survived by grandparents, Ollie Stutzman and Inell Stutzman of Port St. Joe, and Patrick and Doris Helms of Albuquerque, New Mexico; four sisters, Amanda, Laura, Alexandra, and Lisa, all of Konigstein, Germany. After the memorial service there will be visitation with the family in the church fellowship hall.

MANON WILLIAMS
Manon Williams, age 91, passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2001. Mrs. Williams resided in Panama City Beach, Fla., for the past 19 years. Prior to that date she lived in Linden, Ala. At the time of her death she was living with her daughter in Birmingham. Mrs. Williams was an avid bridge player and attained the status of life master. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Gerald Williams of Linden. She is survived by her daughter, Jerry Mills and son-in-law, Dr. Patrick Mills Sr.; sister, Betty Allen and husband, John of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Manon Noble and husband, Steve of Tampa; Dr. Patrick Mills Jr. and wife, Lisa and Patricia Burris and husband, Andy of Birmingham; great-grandchildren, Steve, William, Andrew and Payton Noble of Tampa; Patrick and Nelson Mills and Andrea and Manon Burris of Birmingham; niece, Barbara Allen and nephew, Johnny Allen and wife, Donna of Jacksonville. She was loved by everyone whose life she touched and will truly be missed by all who knew her. Family graveside services will be held in Linden at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to their favorite charity. Ridout's Valley Chapel, 205-879-3401 is in charge of the arrangements.

ROGER F. WISE
Roger F. Wise, 61, formerly of Panama City, lost a courageous battle with cancer on July 21, 2001. Roger graduated from Bay High School in 1957. He was preceded in death by his father, Gus Wise Sr. He is survived by his wife, Faye Wise of Lafayette, La.; daughter, Denise Wise of Franklin, La; son, Kevin (Debbie) Wise of Houston, Texas and daughter, Trisha Wise of Austin, Texas and three grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Christine Wise Stephens; brothers, Gus Wise Jr. (Nancy) and Kenneth (Rudonna) Wise; sisters, Alice (Ray) Williams, Joyce (Dan) Rogers and Marcelle Wise all of Panama City. A memorial service was held in Franklin, La. on July 23.

AUDREY ROBERT BASSETT
Audrey Robert "Bob" Bassett Jr., 69, of Columbus, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at his residence. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday in Parkhill Cemetery with Pastor Tom May officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Macon Road Chapel. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and Monday after the service at Westminister Presbyterian Church, 2303 Double Churches Road. Mr. Basscu was born June 6, 1932, in Gretna, Fla., son of Marguerite Chason Bassett of Lynn Haven and the late Audrey Robert Bassett Sr. He had lived in Columbus since 1985. He was a graduate of Marianna High School, Chipola Junior College, and Florida State University. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of Korea, and Vietnam, serving as a SSGT for 12 years He also served in the Army National Guard, and the U.S. Naval Reserve. For 28 years he served as a technical librarian for the Department of the Army Civil Service. He was a member of Westminister Presbyterian Church. He was an ordained Elder in the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. and a past deacon in the P.C.A. Presbyterian Church. Survivors other than his mother, include his wife, Sylvia June Bassett of Columbus; two sons and their spouses, David V. and Jeanette C. Bassett of Cedar Hill, Texas, Michael V. and Nancy R. Bassett of Plano, Texas; a daughter, Deidre Ann Bassett of Columbus; five grandchildren, Deborah Elizabeth Bassett, Jessica Marie Bassett, Abigail Katherine Bassett, Zachary James Bassett and Stephen Robert Bassett; two cherished pets, Smokey and Summer. Flowers are welcomed, but those so desiring may make contributions to Westminister Presbyterian Church Columbus Hospice Inc., or the Muscogee County Humane Society.

LOUISE REYNOLDS BEECH
Mrs. Louise Reynolds Beech, age 77 of Panama City Beach, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2001, at her residence. She was a native of Bessemer, Ala., and had lived at Panama City Beach since 1960, moving here from New Orleans. She served 32 years in education, retiring as Bay County Schools Supervisor of Chapter 1 Programs in 1988. Mrs. Beech was a member of the Woodlawn United Methodist Church and had served as President of the Woodlawn Community Club. She had served as president or chairman of numerous educational organizations, including a term as president of the Retired School Administrator's Club. She was a member of the education honor society Kappa Delta Pi. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Beech of Panama City Beach; three daughters, Mary Hamlin and husband, Don of Fountain Hills, Az., Cindy Webster and husband, Ammon of Charleston, W.Va. and Gail Huber and husband, John of Panama City; eight grandchildren, Rachel Pethe, Ginger Townes, Blu Webster, Brandi Webster, Chase Webster, Thomas Huber, Teresa Huber and Trina Huber and one great-granddaughter, Amanda Townes. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 7, 2001, at grave side in Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Gregory George officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends Monday, August 6, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

CATHERINE MABLE BEECROFT
Mrs. Catherine Mable Beecroft, 69, of Lynn Haven, died Thursday at her residence. She had been a resident in this area for 23 years, after moving here from Sanford, Fla. She was Catholic by faith. Mrs. Beecroft is survived by her loving husband, Mr. Seymour Beecroft of Lynn Haven; one son, Mark Beecroft and wife, Karen of Sandy Creek. Catherine Beecroft will be remembered as a wonderful and loving wife and mother. Memorialization will be by cremation. Contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Beecroft to the Hospice of Northwest Florida at 2589 Jenks Ave., Panama City, FL, 32405.

GEORGE HERBERT EPLING
Mr. George Herbert Epling, age 70, of Panama City, passed away Friday, August 3, 2001, at a local hospital. He was a lifetime resident of Panama City, and retired as a safety officer for International Paper Company. He was a member of Woodlawn Methodist Church, BPOE #1598, where he was a past Exalted Ruler, the Shaddai Shrine Temple, the Dukes of Shaddai, the Acme Masonic Lodge, #222 and the Scottish Rite. He was a retired member of the National Guard, retiring in 1979, and was a volunteer for the Council on Aging, working with the Meals on Wheels program. He is survived by his wife, Annette Epling of Panama City; daughters, Lynn Sokoloski and husband, Mark of Panama City Beach, Jean Epling of Panama City, Sherry Brock of Cottondale, Gloria Kelly of Panama City and Kay Maloy and husband, Tim of Panama City; a son, Norman Sovell of Panama City; two brothers, Clyde Epling of Milledgeville, Ga., and Wirt Epling and wife, Ruth of Panama City; a sister-in-law, Sandy Epling; his grandchildren, Christopher Kelly, Tisha Marsceill and husband, Scott; Charity Jones, Nathan Warren and wife, Sabrina, Shavonna Brock, Casey Sovell, Alana Sovell, Daniel Kelly, Jesse Sovell, Cody Hudgens and Crystal Sovell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Marjorie Epling, a brother, Jimmy Epling and a granddaughter, Casey Lynn Epling. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 6, 2001, at the Woodlawn United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ron Ball officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, with grave side services conducted by the Panama City Elks Lodge #1598 and military honors conducted by the National Guard. Asked to serve as pallbearers are Mark Sokoloski, Scott Marsceill, Tim Maloy, Nathan Warren, Casey Sovell, Daniel Kelly and Jesse Sovell. Honorary pallbearers will be the Panama City Elks Lodge #1598, the Dukes of Shaddai, the Acme Masonic Lodge, retired members of the National Guard, and Gary Wilson. WILLIE COMER 'WILL' HUGHES
Willie Comer (Will) Hughes of Panama City, died Saturday, August 04, 2001 in a local nursing home. He had been a resident of Panama City since 1940, moving here from Echo, Ala. He was a retired deputy sheriff with the Bay County Sheriff's Office. He was also a former Panama City commissioner. During World War II, he worked with the youth club "Best Yet" in sports and other activities. He also umpired softball games at Kraft Field and baseball games at Lions Park. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, the Men's Bible Class, and the Acme Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Omega Wright Hughes and a granddaughter, Celeste Hughes. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Pat & Don McCormick, Linda & Charles Cunningham, all of Panama City, two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael & Linda Hughes of Kingswood, Texas, Richard & Carolyn Hughes of Panama City, three grandsons, Craig McCormick, Perry Cunningham, Clay Cunningham, three granddaughters, Ann Lee Holcombe, Deborah Hughes, Victoria Hughes, six great grandchildren, Stephanie Cunningham, James McCormick, Victoria McCormick, Chance Cunningham, Connor Cunningham, Marshall Holcombe and two step-grandsons, Vinnie Woychowski, Steven Woychowski. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday in the Wilson Funeral Home with Dr. Floyd Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery with masonic rites conducted at the graveside. LUCY PETERS
Lucile Noble Mustin Peters, 90, noted artist of Panama City and Birmingham, died Tuesday, August 2. 2001, while visiting in Tallahassee. Born 1911, in Tuscaloosa, Ala., to James Mustin and Lucile Noble, she was known throughout the South as a highly gifted artist and portrait painter who worked in every medium. She majored in art at the University of Alabama, and studied under artists in Connecticut, Arizonia, Louisiana, and Japan. Examples of her work currently are scheduled to be on display at the Visual Arts Center, Panama City, beginning in October. A descendant of the Noble family who founded Anniston, Ala., she was preceded in death by her husband, Urban Peters of Birmingham, Panama City, and Scottsdale, Ariz.; and by James Graham of Birmingham. Mrs. Peters is survived by her daughter, Linda Peters Weller and son-in-law, the Rev. Tom Weller of Panama City; granddaughter, Malinda Weller Kelly of Panama City; grandson, Urban Joseph Peters Weller of Novi, Mich.; granddaughter, Cathlyn Lucile Weller Spinks of Tallahassee, and great-grandchildren, Nicholas Weller of Dexter, Mich., and Ray Kelly and Kristen Kelly of Panama City; and by her brother, Noble Mustin of Mobile, Ala., Memorial services will be at Holy Nativity Episcopal Church, Panama City on August 8, 3:30 p.m. Interment will be at a later date in Phoenix, Ariz., next to her husband, Urban Peters. Family and friends are invited to send memorial gifts to the Lucy Peters Memorial Scholarship Fund at Holy Nativity Episcopal Church, 222 N. Bonita Avenue, Panama City, Fla., 32401.

JENNIFER MARIE 'JENNY' SHINN
Jennifer Marie "Jenny" Shinn, age 32, of Panama City, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at her residence after an extended illness. She moved to this area in 1994 from Tacoma, Wa., and was Catholic by faith. She was preceded in death by her father, John Shinn in 1990 and a brother, John Shinn Jr. in 1994. Jenny is survived by her loving mother, Madalyn Webster and husband, George of Panama City; a brother, Gregory Shinn of Panama City; a sister, Monica Elraheb of Bayridge, N.Y.; and two loving nephews. Memorialization will be by cremation. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Jenny's loving family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Rosenfeld at U.A.B., all the employees of G.A.C. Contractors and the wonderful staff of the Hospice of Emerald Coast.
