JENNIFER MARIE 'JENNY' SHINN
Jennifer Marie "Jenny" Shinn, age 32, of Panama City, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at her residence after an extended illness. She moved to this area in 1994 from Tacoma, Wash., and was Catholic by faith. She was preceded in death by her father, John Shinn in 1990; and a brother, John Shinn Jr. in 1994. Jenny is survived by her loving mother, Madalyn Webster and husband, George of Panama City; her beloved Steven Verstegen and their son, Avery Stephen of Panama City; a brother, Gregory Shinn of Panama City; a sister, Monica Elraheb of Bayridge, N.Y.; and two loving nephews. Memorialization will be by cremation. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Jenny's loving family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Rosenfeld at U.A.B., all the employees of G.A.C. Contractors and the wonderful staff of the Hospice of Emerald Coast. ELIZABETH C. THOMPSON
Elizabeth C. Thompson, 69, of Port St. Joe, passed away Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, in Gulf Pines Hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Gulf County living in Wewahitchka, Highland View, and Port St. Joe. Ms. Thompson is survived by her daughter, Lydia Burrows and husband Willie of Highland View; two sons, Eddie Rogers and wife Maxine of Salina, Kan., and Randy Rogers and wife Tina of Idaho; two sisters, Myrtle Raffield and husband Oscar of St. Joe Beach; Melba Allen and husband Parnell of Plant City; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Highland View Church of God at 2 p.m. ET with the Rev. Tim Bailey and the Rev. Jean Shoots officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Cemetery. There will be a viewing at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 7.

Frank E. Bobe Sr., age 92, of Panama City, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, at Bay Medical Center. He was retired from civil service and Panama Machinery and Supply Company. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah B. Bobe. He is survived by a son, Frank E. Bobe Jr. and daughter-in-law, Alice; daughter, Elizabeth Bobe Barron and son-in-law, Darrell Barron; three grandchildren, Frank E. Bobe III, Susan Barron Stowe, Jill Barron Dugger; and great-grandson, Justin Graham Dugger. Graveside services will be held today at 10 a.m. in the Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Walter Cathey officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the American Camellia Society at Massee Lane Gardens, 100 Massee Lane, Fort Valley, Ga., 31030, or to your favorite charity.

MARJORIE DRAPER
Mrs. Marjorie Draper, age 81, of 4617 County 389, Panama City, Fla., died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at a local nursing facility. She had been a resident of Lynn Haven, Fla., since she was 1 year old. Mrs. Draper enjoyed quilt making and was very good at it. She is survived by a son, Charles Draper Jr. of Reedsville, Pa.; a brother, George Havice of Belleville, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Draper Sr.; and a brother, Charlesworth L. Havice. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at the Lynn Haven Cemetery with the Rev. Fred Keith officiating. Interment will follow.

THELMA VICTORIA HARPER
Thelma Victoria Harper, 87, of Panama City, Fla., died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001, in a local nursing home. She had been a resident of Panama City for the past year moving here from Crestview, Fla. She was a charter member of the Trinity Baptist Church of Apopka, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Harper; and two grandsons, Steve Gregory and Mike Gregory. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Nell Gregory of Fort Payne, Ala., Alice Lowe and her husband, James of Parker, Reba Bryan and her husband, Ivon of DeFuniak Springs, Fla.; son, Robert Harper and his wife, Judy of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Cecil Kirkland of Waverling, Fla., Charles Kirkland of Titusville, Fla.; sister, Elizabeth Rogers of Ozark, Ala.; eight grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. EDT in the Highland Memory Gardens, Apopka, Fla. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

CONNIE ROUNTREE
Connie (Coleman) Rountree, age 78, of Chipley, Fla., passed away Aug. 6, 2001, at her residence. She was a lifelong resident of Chipley, Fla., a member of First Presbyterian Church of Chipley, a member of the Presbyterian Women and recipient of the Honorary Life Membership Award presented by Presbyterian Women on Mother's Day 2001. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was born July 5, 1923, to the late Fred and Maude (Watts) Coleman in Chipley. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 10 a.m., in Glenwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Jim Shadesbury and the Rev. Michael Orr officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home of Chipley, Fla., directing. Preceded in death by a sister, Ann Coleman Shoemaker. Survivors are her husband, Philip Rountree of Chipley; one son, Redus Rountree and wife Cindy of Cottondale; two grandchildren, Reda Ann Rountree of Tallahassee, Renae Rountree of Panama City; nephews, Wesley Shoemaker and wife Faye of Lakeland, Fla., Phil Shoemaker of Miramar, Fla., Chris Shoemaker of Tallahassee; niece, Kathy Carlile and husband Frank of Heathrow, Fla. AUDRA L. HUGHES
Mrs. Audra L. Hughes, 92, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Sunday morning, Aug. 5, 2001, in a local nursing home. Born in Jackson County, Fla., she moved here in 1948 from Graceville, Fla. She was a homemaker and a member of the Springfield Community Church. Mrs. Hughes is survived by two sons, the Rev. James L. Richter and wife Janell of Atlanta, Ga., Gary "Grouper" Richter and wife Sandy of Panama City; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001, at 10 a.m. in Springfield Community Church with the Rev. James F. Richter and the Rev. Carl Curti officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

EVA MAE BAKER
Eva Mae Baker, 57, of 8746 W. Bay Head Court, Youngstown, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, in a local hospital. She was a retired electronics assembler with Motorola. She had been a resident of Youngstown since 1980, moving here from Arizona. She was preceded in death by two sons, Don Baker and Ron Baker. She is survived by her husband, Bobby L. Baker of Youngstown; mother, Willa E. Foster; two sons, John Baker and his wife, Wanda; Randy Baker and his wife, Gail, all of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren, Janiece Baker, Desiree Baker, Jonathan Baker, Randi Callahan, Amanda Baker, Tara Powell; brother, Albert Shoemaker of Redding, Calif.; two sisters, Sheila Mitchell of Youngstown, Sandy Foster of Montana; nephew, Michael Foster. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry Beach officiating. Interment will follow in the Lynn Haven Cemetery. HERBERT N. MIZELL
Herbert N. Mizell, Jr., 89, of Panama City, passed away Aug. 8, 2001, in his home. He was born on Feb. 16, 1912, in Charlton County, Ga., moving to Millville in 1919. He attended Millville Elementary School and graduated from Bay High in 1930. He entered the Army/Air Force in 1942, seeing action in the European Theater during World War II. In 1951, he became president/treasurer of Fisher-Stinson Hardware and remained in that position until the store's closing. As a member of Chamber of Commerce, he served as president of the Merchants Division in 1962. He was a member of the Panama City Lions Club with 50 years of perfect attendance and served as president from 1950 to 1951. He was a 33rd degree Mason and a past Potentate in 1973 and charter member of the Hadji Temple. He was instrumental in establishing the Shaddai Temple in Panama City. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Panama City, where he served on the Governing Board. In addition, he was a member of the Acme Masonic Lodge No. 222, as well as being secretary and past president of the Gulf Coast Shrine Club. His Masonic career covered 50 years of distinguished service. Further work in Masonry included membership in both the York and Scottish Rite bodies where he served as presiding officer in all four bodies and was coronated in 1967 as a 33rd Degree Inspector General. He also held membership in the Royal Order of Scotland and the Red Cross of Constantine Masonic bodies. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Ellis Mizell. He is survived by a son, Herbert N. Mizell III, his wife, Carol Dresser Mizell of Panama City, and a grandson, Clint Mizell of Panama City, a brother, Joe Mizell, nephew, Paxton Mizell and wife Allison, niece, Melinda Jolly and husband Larry, all of Panama City, one grandniece and two grandnephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Si Mathison and the Rev. David Warren officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery with Masonic rites to be conducted at the graveside by the Acme Masonic Lodge No. 222. The Masonic Lodge will open one hour prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Panama City or the Gulf Coast Community College Foundation in Mr. Mizell's memory. SUSAN PRESTON RICHARDS
Susan Preston Richards peacefully passed on from this life on July 27, 2001. She left us far too early for someone so loving and caring. She is survived by her husband Eric; parents, Jim and Sandra; brothers, Jay and John; grandparents, John and Mertis Evans; and a large set of close friends and family that will miss her sparkling, generous way. Susan was born Jan. 21, 1969, in Panama City where she grew up within an extended, loving family group. She met her future husband, Eric, while studying math at Auburn University in Alabama, coming with him to Portland, Ore., in 1992. She loved animals all of her life and in 1997 was eager to leave her research career behind to focus on the rural farm life in Graham, Wash. During that time, she reworked her house and land and continued loving and caring for Great Pyrenees dogs, along with a host of other farm animals. Susan was an example to us all given the grace, courage, and determination she exhibited as she came to terms with her progressive illness. Memorial services will be held on Aug. 11 at 11 a.m. at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. JOEL KEITH WILSON
A memorial service will be held on Aug. 18, at 6 p.m. at Kingswood Baptist Church in Southport. The Rev. Wilson, 72, of Lynn Haven, died on July 30, 2001, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tenn., from complications of a heart attack he had while on vacation. Joel was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a newspaper mailer and president of the Mailers Union in both Columbus, Ohio, and Detroit, Mich., for most of his life. The Rev. Wilson held a master's degree in theology from Baptist Bible Institute in Graceville, Fla. He was a Baptist minister for over 30 years. He pastored a mission in Columbus, Ohio, several churches in the Detroit, Mich., area, Pleasant Plains Baptist Church in Clayton, Ala., and had been pastor of Kingswood Baptist Church for the past nine years. He was also very active in the Northwest Coast Baptist Association where he served on the nominating committee and served two terms as president of the pastors' conference. The Rev. Wilson is survived by his wife of 48 years, Zettie Ray Wilson of Lynn Haven; three daughters, Wilma King of Roanoke, Va., Debbie Sowell of Southport, and Shirley Ingraham of Detroit, Mich.; one son, Robert Wilson of Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruby Johnson of Pleasanton, Calif., and one brother, Alva Ashley Wilson of Houston, Texas. The family requests that memorials be made to Kingswood Baptist Church Building Fund, 9206 Kingswood Road, Southport, Fla. 32409.

METANIRA THOMPSON BELLAH
Mrs. Metanira Thompson Bellah who was born in Georgia on March 25, 1919, to Bryant and Vanera Thompson, passed away Thursday, Aug. 8, 2001. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church and prior to that a longtime member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. She was very active in church as long as her health was good. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Walter Bellah Jr. She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Vanera and Paul Harris of Panama City; a sister, Mary Gibson; and a brother and sister-in-law, Billie and Sue Thompson of Dothan, Ala.; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Darby and Elsie Claire Farrell of Gainesville, Fla.; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. After finishing school at Bay High, she graduated from college in Ocala, Fla. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Larry Wade officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. We thank all of you who prayed for her, visited her and cared for her during her illness. Due to illness in the family there will not be any home visitation. Those who wish, may make a memorial gift to Grace Presbyterian Church or to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Bernice Jones Hill, 63, of Panama City, passed away Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at Bay Medical Center. She was a resident of Lynn Haven and Panama City for many years. She was a faithful member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church of Lynn Haven until her demise. She was preceded in death by two sons, Tommy and Joseph; one brother, Willie Jones McCray; one sister, Lillian Jones. She is survived by her husband, Johnny Hill Sr.; five sons, Johnnie Jr.(Corrine), Ted (Sherry), Robert (Tonya) and Kitdrick (Silky) Jones, and Willie Thorton; four daughters, Regina Jones, Tammy, Bridgette (Enoch) Masselene, and Trina (William); grandchildren, Marcus, Sharronda, and Joshua Jones, Jonathan Floyd, Auzioya Williams, Ron Williams Jr.; Gabriel and Justin Massalene, Terrell and Shamarr Hill, Herman Campbell and Rory and Tynisha Peterson; great-grandchildren, Tajanae, Tania and Tyler Floyd, Shikeereya and Shikia Smith, MarKayla Jones and Marcus Jones II; 11 brothers, Jeremiah (Betty) Smith, Andrew Jones, Ursell Smith, Albert (Hazel) Jones, Arvey (Jackie) Jones, Alvin (Eldora) Jones, Allen (Donna) Jones, Frank McCray Jr. (Judy), Melvin (Angela) McCray, Lee McCray and Johnnie Washington; eight sisters, Dianne (Luches) Sheffield, Audrey Ann Jones, the Rev. Interment will follow in the Lynn Haven Community Cemetery. Public visitation will begin at the funeral home this afternoon at 1 p.m. A wake service will be held this evening in the Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church from 6 to 8 p.m. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.
