She was born Oct. 28, 1939, in Norman, Ok. She was a loving mother, grandmother, friend and mentor. Her career led her to The Berry Company, where she served for 12 years. She was a nine-time recipient of the president's club award, a two-time recipient of the excutive club award and a two-time recipient of the president's council award. She was the best of the best! Prior to The Berry Company, she ws the owner/broker for Century 21 Aggressive Real Estate in Jackson, Miss. She was preceded in death by her parents, R.L. and Elaine Bates; and a brother, Russell Bates of Norman, Ok. Honey is survived by her children, daughters, Kim Clinton of Pensacola Beach, Kellie Turk and her husband, Norman and their children, Tysone Turk, Spencer Turk and Kimberlie Lynne Turk III, all of Pensacola; a son, Darrell Dean Clinton, his wife, Darlene and their children, Chelsie L. and Natalie V. Roebuck of Fairhope, Ala. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Maxine Bates of Norman, Ok. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mileeta Clinton Montgomery Memorial Fund, c/o Suntrust Bank, 11 Hoffman Drive, Gulf Breeze, FL 32561.

Rev. J.C. Odum, 86, of Port St. Joe, Fla., passed from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Saturday, August 18, 2001, at his residence. Brother Odum was Pastor Emeritus of Long Avenue Baptist Church after serving as their first pastor for 27 years. He was a resident of Port St. Joe for over 48 years and formerly lived in Panama City, where he was ordained. A veteran of the United States Army, Rev. Odum graduated from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and served as pastor of the Pine Ridge Baptist Church in DeRidder, La., prior to moving to Port St. Joe in 1953. He was honored as the Gulf County Citizen of the year in 1984. Additionally, he gave the opening prayer for the U.S. House of Reprsentatives in 1973; opened the Florida House of Representatives in 1973; was recognized by the Gulf County Board of Commissioners and the City of Port St. Joe City Commission in 1980 for his accomplishments and was honored by the Gulf County School Board for his outstanding service to the youth of Port St. Joe in 1980. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ina Odum of Port St. Joe; son, David J. Odum and wife, Judy of Blountstown, Fla.; daughter, Beverley Gayle Odum of Panama City; and son, the Rev. Daniel H. Odum and wife, Paulette of Lilburn, Ga.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, August 21, 2001, at Long Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. John Adkins officiating. Entombment will follow in the Holly Hill Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. EDT at Long Avenue Baptist Church. The following gentlemen will serve as active pallbearers: Timothy Odum, Trey Odum, Brad Faile, Brent Faile, Chuck Odum and Scott odum. Honorary pallbearers will be The Honorable Fred Witten, Kesley Colbert and the members of the Fidelity Sunday school class of Long Avenue Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Long Avenue Baptist Church Library Fund, P.O. Box 38, Port St. Joe, FL 32457, or to Hospice of the Emerald Coast, 700 W. 23rd St., Panama City, FL 32405.

Jerry T. Davis, 48, of Baconton, died Saturday, Aug. 18, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at Travelers Rest Freewill Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Gene Gilbert will officiate. Pallbearers include David Avera, Michael Avera, Rex Stone, Brian Stone, Travis Stone, Roger Spence, Allen Ethridge, Lee Ethridge, Claude Stone and Phil Montfort. Born Sept. 30, 1952, in Dougherty County, Mr. Davis worked with the Panama City Maintenance Department for many years and was a 1972 graduate of Rutherford High School in Panama City. Mr. Davis was a member of Travelers Rest Freewill Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Troy D. Davis Sr. Survivors include his mother, Mary Alice Davis of Baconton; a sister, Alice Ruth Henson of Panama City; two brothers, Troy "Danny" Davis Jr. of Grand Ridge, Fla., and Bobby Joe Davis of Panama City; five nieces and nephews. ALLEN BATHRICK
Allen Bathrick, 69, of Mexico Beach, passed away Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at his home. He was a native of New York and had been a resident of Mexico Beach since 1997. He served in the United States Air Force until his retirement. Mr Bathrick is survived by his wife, Carol Bathrick of Mexico Beach; one stepson, Kevin Steverson; one son, Mark Allen Bathrick of England; two sisters, Dorothy Nevins of Red Hook, N.Y., and Elizabeth Martell of Weiser, Idaho. A cremation is scheduled and the arrangements for a memorial service will be announced later.

SHAWNDA K. SIMON
Ms. Shawnda K. Simon, age 21, of 2234 Laurie Ave., Panama City Beach, Fla., passed away Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, due to injuries received as the result of an automobile accident. She had been a resident of the area for seven years, moving here from Sulfur, La. Ms. Simon was a member of St. Bernadette's Catholic Church. She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Kathy and Kevin Bush of Panama City Beach, Fla.; her father, Darrel Simon of Lake Charles, La; a brother, Eric Lee Simon of Lake Charles, La; paternal grandmother, Evelyn Simon of Sulfur, La.; and numerous aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Aug. 21, 2001, from 6 until 8 p.m.

CHARLES STAUBER
Mr. Charles Stauber, 92, of Youngstown, Fla., born in Plattling, Germany, passed away Aug. 19, 2001, at a local hospital. He had been a resident of Bay County since 1976, coming here from Saugerties, N.Y., where he retired as an automobile mechanic. Mr. Stauber is survived by his wife of 47 years, Irma Stauber of Youngstown, Fla.; three daughters, Lynn Schwab of Fort Pierce, Fla., Eileen Wilkes and her husband Bob of Lynn Haven, Fla., and Yvonne Dussol and her husband Rich of Amston, Conn.; eight grandchildren, Michael, Tammy, Sabrina and Jeannie Schwab, Ashley and Scott Wilkes and Greg and Michelle Dussol; and one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 24, 2001, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron L'Huillier officiating. Entombment will follow at the Chapel of Love in Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are, Bob Wilkes, Rich Dussol, Greg Dussol and Scott Wilkes. Following the funeral a reception for family and friends will be held at the home of Mrs. Stauber, 9541 Stauber Lane, Youngstown, Fla. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, from 6 until 8 p.m. A special thank you to Dr. Sidney Daffin; the nursing staff of Three South and the physical therapy, respiratory care and housekeeping staff at Bay Medical Center; and Emerald Coast Hospice. Their kind and caring manner brightened each day and comforted the family.

"God's finger touched him and he slept." Mr. Bobby Allen Barnes Jr., 24, of 3931 E. Ninth St. Panama City, Fla., died Saturday morning, Aug. 18, 2001, at his home. He was preceded in death by his mother, Angeline Denson; his grandmother, Corine Barnes; and his great-grandmother, Ina Mae Barnes. Mr. Barnes is survived by his father, Bobby Barnes Sr.; one uncle, Monty Barnes; five aunts, Kimberly Robinson, Ella Edward and husband Alvin, Nellie King, Maggie McClaine and Bethene Miller, all of Panama City, Fla.; one brother, Anthony "Rash" Denson of Pensacola, Fla.; four sisters, Bridgett Melton of Denver, Colo., Constance Reed and husband James of Cumberland, Va., Diahann Tharp and husband Antonio of Panama City, Fla., Caroline Pineda and husband Tony of Las Vegas, Nev.; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by a devoted, loving family friend, Catherine Nelson. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, at 10 a.m. in Hillside Cemetery with Pastor Lonnie Mitchell officiating. Visitation will be held today, Aug. 22, 2001, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Betty Chancellor, 39, of 2717 Apt. D, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, in a local hospital. She was a native of Milton, Fla., and a resident of Panama City for many years. She was a member of First Mount Moriah Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Victoria Chancellor. She is survived by her husband, Lester Chancellor Sr.; daughter, Tiffany Johnson; two sons, David Chancellor and Lester Chancellor Jr.; a devoted mother, Janice Carter; two sisters, Denise Langston and Barbara Pritchett; two brothers, Bennett Johnson and Jacky Larry; a devoted friend, John Adams Smith; a devoted family friend, Elder Elbert Scott; goddaughter, Selisa Jones; seven nieces, five nephews, two great aunts, two sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, all family survivors of Panama City, a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Chancellor will be held Thursday, Aug. 23, at 1 p.m. in First Mount Moriah Baptist Church with the Rev. Aldredge L. Young, pastor officiating. Interment to follow in Hillside Cemetery. The remains will lie in state at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time. WILLIAM 'BILL' HATFIELD
Mr. William "Bill" Hatfield, 74, of Lynn Haven, Fla., passed away Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, in a local hospital. Born in Trenton, Mo., he moved here in 1972 after retiring from the U.S. Army in Hawaii. He was an E-8, first sergeant, and had been an aviation mechanic working both fixed and rotating wing aircraft. Upon retiring, Mr. Hatfield started "Bill's Small Engine Repair Shop" in Southport. He also worked with George J. Hall at Hall's Texaco in Lynn Haven. Mr. Hatfield was a Christian gentlemen raised in the Catholic faith who loved everyone. Mr. Hatfield is survived by his wife of 22 years, Pil Yon Hatfield of Lynn Haven, Fla.; two sons, Terry Hatfield of Hawaii and Bobby Hatfield of Panama City, Fla.; one daughter, Regina Creamer and husband Gary of Panama City, Fla.; two grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the Lynn Haven Cemetery. The Fort Rucker honor guard will accord full military honors at graveside. Honorary pallbearers will be all members of the Bass Club. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this afternoon from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's name to the Health South Rehabilitation Center.
