Retired Master Sgt. Gene Larry Seldenright, 68, of Callaway, passed away Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at his residence. He had lived here 25 years, retiring from Tyndall Air Force Base after serving at various bases around the world. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 27 years. Mr. Seldenright was a member of the First United Methodist Church and enrolled in The Lillie Penington Sunday School class. Mr. Seldenright also helped cook Wednesday night dinners. He was a member of the American Legion, a volunteer for the Red Cross, and the Meals on Wheels Program. Mr. Seldenright was an avid FSU fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR races. He was a collector of coins and Dicken's Village Christmas Houses. Gene loved to fish, play golf and spend time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Seldenright of Panama City; one daughter, Bambi and her husband, Charles Jackson, with their children, Dylan and Mary Elizabeth, all of Tallahassee; two sons, Tom Seldenright of Panama City and girlfriend, Yvette Pavone of Tallahassee, and Larry and wife, Jamie Seldenright, with their children Racheal Donaway, Sarah and her husband, Tommy Davis Jr. of Panama City, and Hallie and her husband, Clay Landrum of Charlotte, N.C.; and one brother, Charles Daniel and wife, Sue Seldenright of Dayton, Ohio. Mr. Seldenright was proceeded in death by his mother and stepfather, Ellen and Richard Wood of New Philadelphia, Ohio; father, Clarance Daniel Seldenright of Midvale, Ohio; sister, Juanita Chaney of Midvale; and brothe, William Seldenright of Midvale. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Warren officiating. Interment will follow at Kent Forest Lawn, with full military Honors preformed by Tyndall Air Force Base Honor Guard. Rebecca (McCammack) Vinson, 27, passed away Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, at her residence. She was of the Pentecostal faith and a member of the Church of God. She was a 1993 graduate of Mosley High School and a member of the Drama Club. She was born May 21, 1974, to Ron E. and Patricia Ann (Tharp) McCammack in Panama City. Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Brown Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, at 10 a.m. in the Tabernacle of Praise Church in Chipley with the Rev. KATHRYN ALICE WHITE
Kathryn "Kay" Alice White was called home to be with our Lord on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001. She passed away peacefully in her home at Laurel Court, Panama City Beach with her family faithfully near her side. She was born in Waterville, Ohio on Feb. 6, 1919. She lived 26 years in Southern California before moving to Panama City Beach just one week before Hurricane Eloise in September 1975. Despite any storms, she has always considered the beach her home. She was a very special mother and was extremely civic minded. While living in California, she was president of both the Ramona Womens Club and the Ramona PTA. She was chairman of the Ramona Branch of the San Diego Red Cross; president of the Intermountain Republican Womens Club; second vice president of the Palomar District Womens Club (which oversaw 13 separate Womens Clubs,) and vice president of the Carlsbads Womens Club. After moving to Panama City Beach she was secretary for the Panama City Beach Garden Club, Bridge Chairman of the Newcomers Club, first vice president and then president of the Civic Womens Club. She served on the Board of Directors of the Fleet Reserve of Panama City Beach and participated with the Noah's Ark on the Beach. She was a faithful member of the Emerald Coast Church of Christ, who's members she loved and looked forward to seeing each and every week. She believed strongly in their mission and future goals. In addition to having nine of her own children which she deeply loved, she cared for and raised over 30 foster children throughout the years. She always sought to make a difference in others lives. She radiated hope and love. She took up painting in her 50s, loved to play bridge and loved to travel (often alone.) Having been all over the world, she has seen the Russian Square, Europe and was most proud of the fact that at age 79 she had ridden camels in the outback of Australia. Kay is survived by her son, Ronald "Rocco" Foote of Panama City Beach; her daughters, Diane White and husband, Ray of Fallbrook, Calif., Teresa "Terry" White-Hutchison of Panama City, Shannon Updegraff-Ruszala and husband, Gary of Panama City, Randy White of Panama City Beach and Sarah "Sally" Belgard and husband, Daniel of Lynn Haven; her sister, Dorothy VanNess of North Bend, Wa.; and her brother, Dick Eaton of Shelton, Wa.; her grandchildren include David Howard Foote, Tracy Rowley and husband, David of Elk Grove, Calif., Tobin White of Bonsall, Calif., Jake Updegraff of Panama City, Chase and Katelin Belgard of Lynn Haven; and three great-grandchildren, Craig, Morgan and Garret Rowley of Elk Grove Calif. She was predeceased by her parents, George Smythe and Teresa Angela Eaton; her first husband, Howard Allen Foote; and her loving husband, Cdr. Robert Leslie White. In addition she had lost three sons, David Foote, John Adams and Robert George White. Mrs. Ollie Mary Davenport, 84, of Wewahitchka, Fla., died Thursday, Sept. 6, at Bay Medical Center. Ollie Mary Davenport was born Nov. 14, 1916, to the late Mary and Ollie Dukes of Wewahitchka, Fla. To cherish her memory and honor her life is her daughter, Mary F. Naphier and her daughter Jacqueline Jovon Coley (Gil), both of Lake Forest, Calif.; one son, Roosevlet Scott (Alma) of Buffalo, N.Y.; 31 grandchildren; and two special grandchildren, Melvin Wymes and Gwen Jackson of Wewahitchka, Fla.; one sister, Clarissa Williams of Port St. Joe, Fla.; two brothers, W.F. Bass (Eloise) of Blountstown, Fla., and Drayton Bass (Lois) of Apalachicola, Fla.; a host of great-grandchildren, loving nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends. Mr. Norton Davis of Panama City, Fla., went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at Hughston Sports Medicine Hospital in Columbus, Ga. He was a native and lifelong resident of Bay County and was a retired general electrician. Mr. Davis was a member of the Brannonville Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 60 years, Lucille R. Davis of Panama City, Fla.; his loving and devoted granddaughter, Dede Lester and her husband Mark, of Panama City, Fla.; a grandson, Wes Davis of Panama City, Fla.; a granddaughter, Allison Parker of Panama City, Fla.; and a cousin, Elizabeth Wiggins and her husband Robert of Cuthbert, Ga. Mr. James Newton Kelley, age 73, of 332 Gray Ave., Panama City, Fla., passed away Sunday, Sept 9, 2001, at a local hospital. A resident of Panama City, Fla., and Wing, Ala., Mr. Kelley retired from International Paper Co. after 32 years. He was an avid hunter and spent most of his time at his farm in Alabama, where he hunted, farmed and enjoyed outdoor life. Mr. Kelley is survived by his wife of 53 years, Donnie Kelley of Panama City, Fla.; a son, Dennis Kelley of Wing, Ala.; two daughters, Ouida Deal and her husband Billy Joe of Panama City, Fla., and Donna Lenora Kent of Clayton, Ala.; a sister, Mary Lenhart of Panama City, Fla.; a brother, Grover Kelley of Panama City, Fla.; six grandchildren, Patti Brahier and Linda Ethridge, both of Panama City, Fla., Michelle Kent and Heather Kent, both of Birmingham, Ala., Erick Kent of Clayton, Ala., and Sarah Kelley of Samson, Ala.; and three great-grandchildren. Suk Cha Lee, age 55, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, at her home. Lsuk Cha Lee was a very sweet woman who loved animals and loved to take care of animals. She moved to Panama City 22 years ago from Augusta, Ga. She supported her mother and daughter, had many friends. Suk Cha Lee fought lung problems for 15 years and had a double lung transplant at Shands Hospital in Gainesville in 1998. She was a strong lady with a lot of heart and was an avid member of the Agape Presbyterian Korean Church. She was also a former employee of the House of Chan Restaurant. Suk Cha Lee is survived by her mother, Hoe Im Son of Panama City, Fla.; a daughter, Donna Sue Chesser of Panama City, Fla.; a brother, Son Kong Mon of South Korea; and a sister, Yong Cramer of Panama City, Fla. Mr. Samuel W. "Pop" Parker, age 84, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001, at Gulf Coast Medical Center. He was a native of Atlantic City, N.J., and had lived in Panama City for 25 years, moving here from Niagara Falls, N.Y. Mr. Parker retired after 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, serving during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He later retired as commissary officer at Niagara Falls A.F.B. after 14 years of service. Mr. Parker was of the Roman Catholic faith. He is survived by a son, Sam Parker Jr. and his wife Marie of Panama City, Fla.; a stepbrother, John Parker of South Jersey; four grandchildren, Adana Ward, Samuel Parker, Mike Parker and Chris Parker; six great-grandchildren; and one nephew, Billy Peterson of Panama City, Fla. Amanda Lucille Story, 85, of Panama City, Fla., died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Altha, Fla., and was a lifetime resident of Florida. She was a member of St. Andrews Methodist Church. Amanda was a welder at the Wainwright Shipyard, worked in sales at J.C. Penney for many years, and for Bay County District Schools. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert, two months ago after being married 63 years. Mrs. Story is survived by her son, Paul Edward Story and his wife Paula, of Hawkinsville; two grandchildren, Dodie Eason and Amanda Lynn Story; two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Dewey H. "Hoke" Breedlove, age 72, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, at a local hospital. He was a native of Johnson County, N.C., and had lived here for 46 years. Mr. Breedlove was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired as an electrician with the School Board. He was a member of the Advent Christian Church. Mr. Breedlove is survived by his wife of 47 years, Edna Breedlove of Panama City, Fla.; two daughters, Belinda Tinsley and her husband, Ken of Panama City, Fla., and Ellen "Liz" Clemons and her husband, Steve of Saudi Arabia; one brother; four sisters; a sister-in-law, Agnes Breedlove of Raleigh, N.C.; and three grandchildren, John Allen Pate, Sara Kay Tinsley and Kira Ellen Tinsley.
