Mrs. Ollie Mary Davenport, 84, of Wewahitchka, Fla., died Thursday, Sept. 6, at Bay Medical Center. Funeral services for Mrs. Davenport will be held today, Sept. 12, 2001, at 1 p.m. in the Faison Temple Church with the Rev. O.C. Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Williamsburg Cemetery in Wewahitchka. The remains will lie in state two hours prior to services at the church.

NORTON DAVIS
Mr. Norton Davis, of Panama City, Fla., went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at Hughston Sports Medicine Hospital in Columbus, Ga. He was a native and lifelong resident of Bay County and was a retired general electrician. Mr. Davis was a member of the Brannonville Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 60 years, Lucille R. Davis of Panama City, Fla.; his loving and devoted granddaughter, Dede Lester and her husband, Mark of Panama City, Fla.; a grandson, Wes Davis of Panama City, Fla.; a granddaughter, Allison Parker of Panama City, Fla.; and a cousin, Elizabeth Wiggins and her husband, Roberts of Cuthbert, Ga. He was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry Davis and Tom Davis; his mother, Mae Norton Davis; and a brother, Tom Davis. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. today, Sept. 12, 2001, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Newberry officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are George Thomas, Jack Cox, Mitchell Freeman, Mark Lester, Wayne Stanley and Wayne Reeder. Honorary pallbearer will be John Meeks.

Psalms 91:11 - "For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways." Mrs. Nita Hurst Rigby, 69, of Panama City, Fla., died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, in a local nursing home. Born in Sylvania, Ga., she moved here in 1988 from Washington, D.C. She was a homemaker and Baptist by faith. Mrs. Rigby is survived by one son, Ronald Rigby and wife, Carolyn of Piedmont, Ala.; one daughter, Sara Diamond of Panama City, Fla.; three sisters, Mina Howell of Jacksonville, Fla., Virginia Carroll of Walnut Ridge, Ark., and Judy Wilkes of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Suzanne Golden, Misty Burleson, Michael Rigby, Christopher Diamond, Shannon Smith, Jeremy Diamond and David Diamond; 10 great-grandchildren, Anita, Felicia, Nicole, Andrew, Victoria, Austin, Ashley, Megan, Amber and Alyssa. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, at 2 p.m. in Riverside Memorial Gardens in Jacksonville. Gene Larry Seldenright, age 68, of Callaway, Fla., who passed away Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, at Kent Forest Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Edna Sue Singleton, age 63, of Tallahassee, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, in Tallahassee. A native of Mitchell County, Ga., she had lived in Tallahassee since 1973. She was a former medical secretary and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her former spouse, James Singleton; sons, Gary Singleton of Tallahassee; three daughters, Ginger Cook of Tallahassee, Carolyn Kennedy of Tallahassee and Valerie Krisch of Panama City Beach; one brother, Walter Gee Jr. of Pelham, Ga.; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home in Tallahassee. The family will receive friends at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home today, Sept. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to American Diabetes Association, 1101 N. DIANA McDANIEL SMITH
Mrs. Diana McDaniel Smith, 64, of Apalachicola, Fla., died Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, in a local hospital. Born in Overstreet, Fla., she was a lifelong resident of this area. She worked with Early Start Parent Education Program with the Franklin County Education Board. A son, Allen Smith, precedes her in death. Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Earl Lamar Smith; two daughters, Denise Clayton and husband, Michael and Barbara Bellew; one sister, Glenda Varnes and husband, Billy; five grandchildren, Gina Taranto, Dusty Mallon, Lisa Clayton, Tabitha Polous and Sara Clayton; three great-grandchildren, Chase and Brandon Taranto and Kaytlin Marritt. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, at 2 p.m. EDT in the Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. EDT.

CLARENCE C. CLEWIS
Mr. Clarence C. Clewis, 92 of Maryland Heights, Mo., a former resident of Panama City passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2001, at his residence. Born in Esto, he left Panama City in 1995 to move to Missouri so his family could care of him. He was the retired owner of an antique and furniture store in St. Louis. Mr. Clewis was also a former pastor of the First Assembly of God Church of Millville as well as other churches in Florida. He was a member of the ACME Masonic Lodge No. 222 for 57 years and was a shriner since the age of 21. Mr. Clewis is survived by five children, Gilbert Clewis of Panama City, Leon Clewis of Maryland Heights, Mo., Thomas Jerry Clewis od Berkley, Mo., Christine Vickers of Panama City Beach and Lorene Lackey of St. Louis, Mo.; one sister, Gertrude Sanders of Panama City and many many grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Clewis will be conducted today, Sept. 14, at 10:30 a.m. in the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rudolph Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Mr. Clewis' grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. Masonic rites will be given at graveside. The Masonic Lodge No. 222 will be opened one hour prior to service.

ERNEST LEON COLEMAN
Ernest Leon (Jiggs) Coleman of the Oak Grove Community, died at home Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2001, after a lengthy illness. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, in the Chapel of Pittman Funeral Home, with Dr. Chris Adams and the Rev. Cecil Coleman officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Oak Grove, with Pittman Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be tonight, from 6 to 8 p.m. At other times, the family will be at the home of Cathy and Rickey Bennett. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Memorials may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 2623 Montgomery Hwy, Suite One, Dothan, AL 36302. Mr. Coleman was born Jan. 14, 1917, to the late William D. and Cora Alberta Metcalf Coleman. He was a lifelong resident of Oak Grove where he was a farmer until his retirement, a veteran of the U.S. Army. He served his country during World War II, serving in North Africa where he was the recipient of the Eastern Europe Service Medal and the Silver Star. He also served during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dupree Coleman. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Charles Coleman (Carol) of Lynn Haven; two daughters, Cathy and husband, Rickey Bennett of Oak Grove and Cindy Campbell of Geneva; five beloved grandchildren, Brent, Bridgett and Brooks Bennett, Paisley Campbell and Alicia Coleman. He is also survived by one sister, Vonzine Barler of Jonesboro, Ga.; one nephew, Buddy Grantham (Connie) of Birmingham; and one niece, Ann (Leroy) Pope of Jonesboro, Ga. Pittman Funeral Home, Geneva, Ala., 334-684-2600 is in charge of the arrangements.

Deacon Albert Dawson, 83, of 208 Claire Ave., Springfield, Fla., died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, in the Bay Crest Nursing Center. He was a native of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., but had been a longtime resident of Bay County. He married Alma Sconiers in the year of 1944. He was a faithful member of the Antioch Temple Church of God In Christ. He was preceded in death by one son, the late J.D. Pouncy. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alma Dawson, Panama City; two sons, Elder Finnie (Missionary Betty J.) Pouncy, Jacksonville, Fla., Albert Jr. (Catherine) Dawson, Tampa; one brother, Eli Dawson, New Jersey; one sister, Catherine Lewis, Marianna; two brothers-in-law, the Rev. David Sconiers, Bro. Jesse Sconiers; one sister-in-law, Ollie Booker; a devoted daughter-in-law, Katrina Ables, Panama City; one devoted sister-in-law, Jean; a special nephew, L.C. (Shirley) Keys, Panama City; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Deacon Dawson will be held Saturday, Sept. 15, at 11 a.m. in Antioch Temple C.O.G.I.C. with Supt. John M. Gipson presiding and Elder Finnie Pouncy officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Public visitation will begin this afternoon at the funeral home from 1 to 8 p.m. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. The family will receive friends at their residence of 208 Claire Ave., Springfield.
