Funeral services for Mrs. Taylor will be held today, Sept. 15, at 2 p.m. in the Love Center Missionary Baptist Church with Moderator Rufus Woods officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. A family hour will be held in the Battle Memorial Funeral Home Chapel this evening from 7 to 8 p.m. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.

CLAYBORN THORNTON JR.
Mr. Clayborn Thornton Jr., 72, of 446 E. 13th St., died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001, in a local hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Thornton will be held today, Sept. 15, at 2 p.m. in Saint Temple church, 1423 Fountain Ave., with Overseer Wilmar Lee officiating. Interment to follow in Hillside Cemetery. The remains will lie in state at the church today from 10 a.m. until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at 446 E. 13th St.

MAMIE E. MARSHALL
Mrs. Mamie E. Marshall,80, of Panama City, FL, died Thursday, September 13, 2001, at her home. Born in Alabama, she was a longtime resident of this area and a homemaker. One grandchild, Jeremy McMurphy, precedes her in death. Mrs. Marshall is survived by one daughter, Jane Mayo and husband, Daniel of Panama City, Fla.; six sons, John Ray Coffey and wife, Gresha of Brannonville, Fla., Jimmy Yarbrough and wife, Angie of Panama City, Fla., Bobby McMurphy and wife, Kathy of Panama City, Fla., Joe Marshall, George Marshall and Willie Marshall, all of Brannonville, Fla; grandchildren, Johnny Dean Coffey, Jody Pitts, Jason Clark, Carrie Clark, Angel Hodges, Jimbo Yarbrough, Jody Yarbrough, Angela Yarbrough, Margaret Crystal, Brandy, Bobby Allen, Jimmy Lee, Marcy, Katie, Patrick, Jefferson Thomas, Debbie Marshall, Tiffany Ann and Carl; twenty-one great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted today, September 16, 2001, at 1 p.m. in the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. W.D. King officiating. Interment will follow in Sandy Mountain Cemetery in Fountain. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Jason Clark, James Rowe, Phin Pitts, Bobby McMurphy, Jimmy McMurphy and Jimmy Miller. The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Cvitkovich.

HENRY HUDDLESTON WESTMORELAND JR.
Henry Huddleston Westmoreland Jr., 75, of Panama City Beach, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001, at his home. He was a native of Miami, Fla., but had been living in Bay County for the past 15 years. Mr. Westmoreland retired with over 32 years with the City of Miami. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Westmoreland of Panama City Beach; six children, Kathleen Pardington of Deland, Fla., Maureen Dodgen of Conyers, Ga., Daniel Westmoreland of Seattle Wash., Patrick Westmoreland of Jupiter, Fla., David Westmoreland of Miami, and Henry Westmoreland III of Wacissa, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Antonia Chavez of Miami; one brother, Dawson Westmoreland of Miami; ten grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and former wife, Colleen Westmoreland of Miami. Memorial service will be held Monday, Sept. 17 at 2 p.m., at Grace Episcopal Church in Panama City Beach with the Rev. Tom Weller officiating. Special thanks go to Dr. Giovanni Lupo and staff. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to Grace Episcopal Church in Panama City Beach or to Covenant Hospice of Panama City.

FRANCES CARTER WRIGHT
Frances Carter Wright, 91, of Rocky Creek Community died Friday, September 14, 2001, at her residence. She was a native of Pensacola, a homemaker, and member of Marvin Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Mrs. Wright is preceded in death by her husband, Albert T. Wright, a son, Albert Wright, Jr., and her parents, Tap and Jennie Carter. She is survived by a son, John Wright of Marianna; three daughters, Katherine Pforte of Marianna, Susie Butts of Lynn Haven, and Lorene Crutchfield of Geneva, AL; a brother, James Tap Carter of Rocky Creek Community; two sisters, Hattie Mae Thornton of Marianna, and Jennie V. Sims of the Sink Creek Community; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 17, at Marvin Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Lord Funeral Home of Marianna directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, September 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a contribution to Covenant Hospice, 4349 Lafayette Street, Building 2, Marianna, FL 32448, or Marvin Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, 4885 Magnolia Road, Marianna, FL 32448.

MARTHA ESTELLE NORELL MERCER
Mrs. Martha Estelle Norell Mercer, 81, of 1011 Cornell Drive, died Sunday in a local hospital. She had been a resident here since 1952, moving here from Dothan Ala. She was a 1938 graduate of Midland High School, Midland City Ala., graduated from Riley Business College in 1939 and attended Gulf Coast Community College in 1979. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Convention City Lions Auxillary and a member of the Panama City Womans Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Mercer. She is survived by two sons, John David Mercer and his wife, Pam of Lynn Haven and George Alan Mercer and his wife, Linda of Callaway; two grandchildren, Amanda Mercer Addison and David Mercer both of Lynn Haven; a stepgrandson, Kevin Duncan of Bayou George; a great-granddaughter, Annalese Addison of Lynn Haven; a brother, Carl Norrell of Cullman Ala. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Brannon officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. today. Those desiring to, may make a donation to the Covenant Hospice in memory of Estelle Mercer. Lonnie Mae (Wheeler) Mix
Mrs.Lonnie Mae (Wheeler) Mix, age 98, of 603 East Eighth St., Panama City, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, at a local nursing home. She was a native of Houston County, Ala. She had been a resident since 1983, coming here from Lachooche, Fla. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Helen Dorsey, and one brother, Mr. Joe Wheeler, both of Dothan, Ala.; a devoted and caring niece, Mrs. China Page; four other nieces and three nephews of Panama City, Fla.; one niece of Fort Pierce, Fla.; one nephew of Atlanta, Ga.; stepdaughter-in-law, Julia Griffin of Philadelphia, Pa.; goddaughter, Modie Jackson of Panama City, Fla.; and a host of great-nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Mix will be held Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the Greater Friendship Baptist Church, 909 East Eighth St., with the Rev. Matthew Troupe officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. Public visitation will begin at the funeral home today from 1 to 8 p.m. A family hour will be held in the Battle Memorial Funeral Home Chapel this evening from 7 to 8 p.m. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. MYRTLE COOPER KING
Myrtle Cooper King, 89, of Albuquerque, N.M., died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001, in Albuquerque. She had been a resident of Albuquerque for the past five years, moving there from Panama City. She served as a nurse in the U.S. Army during World War II. She was a member of the Gulf Beach Presbyterian Church and the Retired Officers Club Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Morrison King Jr. She is survived by a daughter, Mary King Jackson and her husband, Don of Albuquerque; grandson, Matthew Jackson of Providence, R.I.; granddaughter, Samantha Sears Kinard of Montgomery, Ala.; and a niece, Barbara Ingle. Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, at 12:30 p.m. in the Fort Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, Fla. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the Thornwell Orphanage in Clinton, S.C., in memory of Myrtle King.
