Kevin Michael White, 30, of Pensacola, Fla., died Sunday Sept. 16, 2001, at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola. He was a lifelong resident of Pensacola. Kevin was the son of Panama City resident Kenneth L. White, a local businessman, and Charlotte Swearingen of Pensacola. He is also survived by a sister, Wendy Michelle Aliff of Pensacola and her family, husband T.J., two sons, Thomas and Jarred, all of Pensacola. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001, in Pensacola at Faith Chapel Funeral Home, 1000 Highway 29N at 2 p.m.

MABEL L. MILLER-ARMSTRONG
Mabel L. Miller-Armstrong, nee Atkinson, beloved wife of the late Gerald Miller and the late Clayton Armstrong, passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2001. Born in Overstreet, Mabel lived most of her life in Gulf County and operated Miller's Bait and Tackle in Wewahitchka for many years. She was the loving mother of Glenn (Patricia) Miller, Barbara (Wayne) Linton, and the late Gerald Jr.; proud grandmother of Sheila Tucker, Gerald (Angel) Tucker, Elizabeth (Miguel) Del Angel, Steven (Terra) Tucker, Laura Miller, Patricia Tucker, and Robert (Agnes) Miller; devoted great-grandmother of 12; loving daughter of the late Ila White and the late Arnold Atkinson, fond sister of Juvohn (Christine) Atkinson, Mary Rice, Charles (Helen) Atkinson, Michael Atkinson, and the late Myrtle,Virginia and Edward. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements are pending. Those who wish, may make a donation to the charity of their choice.

WENDELL JEROME DAVIS
Wendell Jerome Davis, 63, of 4117 Leslie Lane, Springfield, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2001, at Shands Teaching Hospital in Gainesville, Fla. He was a lifelong resident of Bay County. He was a retired technical sergeant with the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Nancy Davis; daughter, Sue Broxson and her husband, Tony; son, Mark Davis, all of Panama City; two grandchildren, Nicole Broxson and Joshua Broxson; his mother, Winifred P. Davis of Parker, Fla.; brother, Rodney F. Davis and his wife, Sylvia of San Marcos, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 3 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Malson officiating. Interment will follow in the Parker Cemetery with full military rites conducted at graveside. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6 until 8 p.m. Those desiring may make a contribution to the American Cancer Society or the Leukemia Society in memory of Wendell Davis. The family will be at 1037 Pitts Ave., Parker and 4117 Leslie Lane, Springfield.

MARGARET EPPERSON
"Forever In Our Hearts" - Mrs. Margaret Skelton Epperson, age 84, of 154 East Henry St., Wewahitchka Fla., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, at Bay Medical Center in Panama City. She was born in Jefferson County, Ala. She had been a resident of the Gulf and Bay County areas since 1955, after moving here from Sylacauga, Ala. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard Epperson; her son James Epperson; one brother and five sisters. She is survived by a son, David Epperson and his wife Anne of Pensacola, Fla.; two daughters, Dot Watts and her husband Ralph of Wewahitchka, and Jo Sprague of Akron, Ohio; a brother, J. M. Skelton and his wife Mable of Sylacauga, Ala.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, at 2 p.m. EDT at Comforter Funeral Home Chapel officiated by the Rev. Bo Boyett of the Christian Fellowship Independent Baptist Church, where she was a member. The Holly Hill Cemetery gathering is reserved for family members only. Public visitation will be available at the funeral home today, Sept. 20, from 6 until 8 pm EDT and one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday.

Graveside funeral services for Myrtle Cooper King, 89, of Albuquerque, N.M., who died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001, in Albuquerque, will be held Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, at 12:30 p.m. in the Fort Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, Fla., with Chaplain Carl Herndon officiating. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the Thornwell Orphanage in Clinton, S.C., in memory of Myrtle King.

PEARL LAIRD MILLER
Pearl Laird Miller, 92, of Clearwater, Fla., formerly of Jacksonville, Fla., died Tuesday. Services will be held in Jacksonville, Fla., at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4315 Main St., with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery (Gate 1). The family will receive friends and relatives at the chapel before the service. A descendant of pioneer families of Florida and Alabama, she was the daughter of Ada Victoria Zorn of Florala, Ala., and John Henry Laird of Panama City, Fla. She was the widow of the late William Whitfield Miller of Jacksonville, Fla., and was a former member of the Riverside Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville. She was retired as a school teacher at the Ruth N. Upton School in Jacksonville. She is survived by a brother, John Henry Laird of Hattiesburg, Miss.; two sons, William Whitfield Miller and his wife Molly and John Michael Miller, both of Tallahassee, Fla.; daughter, Jane Laird Miller Arnett and her husband Vance of Safety Harbor, Fla.; and six grandchildren, William Whitfield Miller III, Joy Anna Miller, Jill L. Miller, Catherine W. Pope, Gregory W. Pope and Gabriel T. Arnett. Hardage-Gidden Funeral Home, 4315 Main St., Jacksonville, FL 32206, 904-355-5641, Ext. 501 is in charge of the arrangements.

KENNETH DAVID PURVIS JR.
Kenneth David Purvis Jr., born Oct. 4, 1984, went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 18, 2001. We rejoice in the knowledge that he will suffer no more and will soar with the angels forever. His care, sense of humor, patience, and love for his family was surely a gift from God. He was loved dearly and will be deeply missed by his family. His father, Kenneth D. Purvis; and stepmother, Tina; his (guardian angel) grandmother, Lell Purvis; his aunt, Shirley Vaughn and her husband Tommy and their children, Jaime and Jared; his uncle, Bobby Purvis and his wife, Charlotte and their children, Michele Jordan and her husband, Clayton, and their child, Alexandra; Chris Purvis and his wife, Brandi; and numerous great aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Albert Rudolph Purvis. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Thompson and the Rev. Baldwin Holmes officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today. RALPH J. SHERMAN
Ralph J. Sherman, 67, of Kissimmee, Fla., died Sept. 18, 2001, in Kissimmee. He was a retired taxi driver. He was born in Warwick, R.I., and moved to Central Florida in 1975. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Annette Sherman of Kissimmee; three sons; four daughters; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother. Funeral services will be held today at the Chapel of Conrad & Thompson Funeral Home, Kissimmee, with Dr. Frank J. Allen of First Presbyterian Church of Kissimmee officiating. Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Westville Cemetery, Westville, Fla., with the Rev. Jack Hankins officiating.

JACK TEEL
Mr. Jack Teel, age 63, of Ocean Springs, Miss., died Monday, Sept. 17, 2001, in Ocean Springs. He was a resident of the community for three months. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, was a deputy sheriff for the Bay County Sheriff's Office, and was manager of the Sunshine Jr. store in Panama City. Mr. Teel was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Earl Teel and Lilly Kelly Teel; two sisters, Gladys Smith and Lorene Davis; three brothers, Charlie Teel, Ray Teel and Alfred Lee Teal. He is survived by two sons, Donald Teel of Ocean Springs and Joey Teel of Panama City; daughter, Patsy Pandullo of Masawa, Japan; two sisters, Sara Lauderdale of Lafayette, Ala., and Flora Ann Teel of Opelika, Ala.; four grandchildren, Cheryl Teel and Skylar Teel, both of Ocean Springs, Johnatha Pandullo and Alyssa Pandullo, both of Misawa. Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 21, from noon to 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Ocean Springs. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 21, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Ocean Springs.

Mrs. Willie Mae Wells, age 81, of Ebro, Fla., passed away Sept. 17, 2001, at Bay Crest Nursing Center, Panama City, Fla. She is preceded in death by her husband, John M. Wells; one brother, Claude Campbell; and one sister, Flora Sapp. She is survived by three sons, Ferrell and wife Susan Owens of Panama City, Harold and wife Lounell Jandula of Pine Log Creek, and James Wells of Bayou George; one daughter, Gena and husband Carl Anders of Maryland; 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 20, at Pine Log Community Church with the Rev. Kevin Bartlett and the Rev. Danny Burns officiating.

ALICE BROWN
Mrs. Alice Brown, 81, of Vernon, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19 in St. Andrews Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was a native of Vernon and resided in Panama City a large number of years before returning to Vernon. She was a member of Sylvania A.M.E. Church in Vernon. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22 at Sylvania A.M.E. Church Vernon, with the Rev. Hazel Vience, officiating. Interment will follow in Sylvania Cemetery with Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley, directing. Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. Margaret Dotson (Robert), Mrs. Bobbie A. Dawson (Fred) all of Vernon, Mrs. Florence Harmon (the Rev. Joseph) of Chipley; one son, James E. Brown of Tallahassee, 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many other relatives and friends. The remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service.
