Funeral services for Mrs. Linnie Bell Ingram Chastain, age 67, of Panama City, Fla., who passed away, Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at St. Andrew Primitive Baptist Church with Elder J.C. Stanaland officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, Nov. 4, 2001, from 2 until 4 p.m. and again from 6 until 8 p.m. today.

WILLIAM B. KNIGHT
Mr. William B. Knight, age 82, of 316 Cherry St., Panama City, Fla., passed Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at his home. He had been a resident of Bay County for 25 years, coming here from California. Mr. Knight was of the Baptist faith, served his country during WWII with the U.S. Army, and was a retired Bailiff for the Bay County Sheriffs Department. Mr. Knight is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Knight, of Panama City, Fla.; one daughter, Pamela Jordan and husband, Jimmie D., of Panama City, Fla.; one brother, Joe S. Knight and wife, Marilyn, of Big Springs, Texas; two grandchildren, Jay Jordan of Panama City and Janel Womack of St. Louis, Mo.; and two great-grandchildren, Shane Womack and Ashley Womack; two nieces; and two nephews. A private graveside service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m.

ANTHONY WAYNE 'TONY' MOORE
Mr Anthony Wayne "Tony" Moore, age 44, of Lynn Haven, Fla., passed away, Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at his home. He had been a resident of the area since 1965, coming here from Birmingham, Ala., and was Protestant by faith. Mr. Moore was the CEO and President of Aluminum Builders and Supply Corp., a licensed Florida building contractor and real estate agent. He was an enthusiastic Florida State fan and on the board of the local Seminole Club. Mr. Moore was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Moore is survived by his mother and father, Alice H. Moore and Arvin C. Moore of Washington County, Fla.; his dearest companion, Mitzie Moore of Lynn Haven, Fla.; a son, Christopher Moore of Lynn Haven; a sister, Suzanne Moore and Bryan Neafie of Washington County, Fla.; brother, Alan Moore and his wife Maxine of Lynn Haven, Fla.; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. T.A. Greene and the Rev. Jim Bakker officiating. Interment will follow at Wausau Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Phil Garner, Mark Crossno, Shawn Bledsoe, Johnny Roberts, David Lord and David Mercer. Honorary pallbearers will include: Doug Messer, Charles Plesner, Randy Wahlberg, Ken Creighton, Bill Land, and Mark "Buck" Duncan. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Nov. 4, 2001, from 4 until 6 p.m.

Dee Paffos, who was a member of Saint Thomas by the Sea Episcopal Church and also a Birmingham native, passed away Friday, Nov. 2, 2001. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Floyd conducting the service and the Rev. Hayes Wise giving the eulogy. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites. The family will meet friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Active pallbearers are Charles Hilton Jr., Richard Dodd, Tommy Oliver, Taz Mailo, Paul Carroway, and Steve Hurd. Honorary pallbearers are employees of Hilton Enterprises, Florida Department of Agriculture, Forestry Division and his very good friend Dr. Matthew Sweetser.

LAWRENCE RICE
SFC (Retired) Lawrence Rice, 74, of El Paso, Texas, died Monday, Oct. 28 in El Paso, in the William Beaumont Army Medical Center. "Dick," as he was affectionately called by both family and friends. He attended public school in Georgetown, Ga., and upon becoming a young adult moved with his family to Panama City, Fla., where he enlisted in the U.S. Army. During his career in the U.S. Army he received the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He retired from the Army and made El Paso, Texas, his home. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mother Mary Wilson Dean and brother, Rufus Rice. He is survived by his daughter, Muriel Alston, Sharon Hill, Pa.; step sister, Georgia Mae Worthy, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; one aunt, Georgia Rice, Georgetown, Ga; one niece, Vanzetta (Wilbert) McKenney, Panama City, Fla.; nephews, Jimmie (Shirley) Woodson, Atlanta, Ga., Anthony Dean, Panama City, Fla.; cousins, Minnie (Wesley) Johnson, Lillian (Namon) Speights, Panama City, Fla.; John Dotson, Eva Hudson, Piscataway, N.J.; Verlee Mays, Washington, D.C.; Joyce Massey, Gerogetown, Ga.; Charlie Mae Malone, Cleveland, Ohio; two grandchildren, Tyre Alston, Tyrell Alston, Philadelphia, Pa.; grand nieces and nephews, Cortney Qualls, Maria Wilson, Cheryl Johnson, Panama City, Fla., Avril Copeland and Ryan, Atlanta, Ga.; an adopted family, Lymar, Marguerite, Brandon, Wilber Hawkins, all of El Paso,Texas. Funeral services for Mr. Rice will be held Monday, Nov. 5, at 11 a.m. in the Battle Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Lonnie Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in the Redwood Cemetery. Public visitation will begin today at the funeral home from 1 to 8 p.m. Full military Honors will be conducted by the Fort Rucker Army Honor Guard.

KELLI M. BAILEY
Kelli M. Bailey, 31, passed away Friday, Nov. 2, at her home in Panama City Beach. Kelli was born in Columbus, Ga., and had lived in Panama City Beach for the last 18 months, coming from Nashville, Tenn. She was a medical technologist at Bay Medical Center in Panama City. She graduated from the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga where she was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society and the Beta Beta Beta Honor Society. Kelli received her degree in medical technology from Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville where she was employed for five years before moving to Panama City. Kelli attended Woodlawn United Methodist Church in Panama City Beach and was a member of Hixson United Methodist Church in Hixson, Tenn., where she grew up. Kelli was preceded in death by her cherished grandfather, James G. Pate Jr. Miss Bailey is survived by her loving parents, Charlotte and John Greathouse of Panama City Beach, Louis and Pat Bailey of Salem, Ala.; her dear grandmothers, Marie Livingston Pate and Middie Tallent of Columbus; step-brother, John M. Greathouse and wife Kim; their daughter, Ramsey of Phenix City; step-sister, Allison Nickolson and husband, Alan; their son, Jordan; and daughter, Laura, of Montgomery, Ala. Kelli had a special great-aunt and uncle, Rose and Carl Doby of Stuart, Fla.; great-aunt Marie Livingston of LaGrange, Ga.; aunt Lorene Bailey of Columbus; aunt Virginia Willis and her husband, Jack; uncle Robert Greathouse and his wife, Pat; uncle Harold Bailey and his wife, Mary; and devoted cousins, Faye and Kaye Roach of Atlanta. Donations in Kelli's memory are requested for Woodlawn United Methodist Church Building Fund, 213 Carolyn Ave., Panama City Beach, FL 32407 and Sherwood United Methodist Church, 3503 17th Ave., Columbus, GA 31904. Funeral services for Ms. Sandra Gail Daniels Barfield, age 50, of Panama City, Fla., who passed away, Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 5, 2001, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Dennis Olson officiating. GLADYS T. GILMORE
Mrs. Gladys T. Gilmore, 86, of Orlando, Fla., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at her residence. Gladys had lived in the Panama City area and had attended the Springfield Community Church. She was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed making a home where her family and friends were always welcome. Mrs. Gilmore is preceeded in death by her beloved husband, Dewey Gilmore, and cherished son, Donald Gilmore. She is survived by a daughter, Janice Adcock and her husband, Jesse, of Orlando; two brothers, Buford Thames and wife, Francis, of Holly Hills, Fla., and Seaborn Thames with his wife, Martha, of Prattville, Ala.; as well as her sister, Bernice Trim of Citra, Fla.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at the Southerland Family Funeral Home, 100 East 19th Street, Panama City, Fla., at 1 p.m. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until the start of the services, which will be officiated by Buford Thames. Internment will take place, following the services, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

SAMUEL T. KERN JR.
Mr. Samuel T. Kern Jr. of Panama City, Fla., died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at his home after a lengthy illness, with his family by his side. He was born Aug. 7, 1930, in Allentown, Pa., to the late Samuel T. Kern Sr. and the late Caroline Derr Kern. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. He was a resident of Bay County since 1967. He proudly served his country with two years in the Navy Reserves and retired from the U.S. Air Force with 20 years of dedicated service. After retiring from the Air Force, he was employed by H.G. Harders & Son for 21 years as purchasing agent, safety director and insurance liaison. He was a devoted husband, loving and generous dad and very proud Pappy. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lucy L. Martrich of Allentown, Pa. He is survived by his wife, Paula, of 49 years on December 13; daughters, Lynn L. Bente and husband, John, Cindy L. Workman and husband, Brad; granddaughter, Stephanie A. Willard; and grandson, William E. Bente, all of Bay County, Fla. He also leaves several nephews and nieces, all of Allentown, Pa. The family will receive friends at his home at 224 Hugh Thomas Drive today, Nov. 5, from 6 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be made to the Lutheran Braille Workers, Bethesda Lutheran Homes and Services, or Hospice of the Emerald Coast. A special thanks to all his gentle and tender caregivers who helped his difficult journey end with dignity. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

JANE ALLEN MAPLES
Jane Allen Maples was born in Lumberton, N.C., on Aug. 30, l939. She formerly lived in Miami, Fla., before becoming a resident of Panama City. Jane graduated from Florida State University with a B.A. in Education and went on to the University of Georgia for her Masters Degree in counseling. While at FSU, she was a member of Zeta Alpha Sorority. She taught school in Miami for l7 years, teaching at Hialeah High School and Miami Springs Senior High before retiring to Panama City to be near her family. After retiring from teaching, she worked full-time as a craftsman in her own business. She was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn R. Maples; and niece, Melissa Smith Bennett. She is survived by her friend and brother-in-law, Dr. Tim M. Smith; a sister, Mary Ann Smith; her father, James A. Maples; her nephews, Tim M. Smith II and Stephen Smith; great niece, Evelyn Michele Bennett; and great nephews, Daniel Bennett, Gabriel Bennett, Kendall Bennett; and her dear friend, companion and business associate, Betsy Stoinoff. Jane was a treasure to all she taught and mentored. We will always love and treasure her memory and we know she is in a better place, at peace. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at l p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with her friend, Dr. Richard White, officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
