BESSIE LENORA BROCK LAND
Bessie Lenora Brock Land, age 97, of Chipley, passed away Nov. 11, 2001, at Mariner Health in Bonifay. She was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County and was a seamstress for many years. Mrs. Land was a charter member of the North Bay Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Matthew Land and four sons, Henry L. Land, William Valory Land, James Malory Land and William Thomas Land. She is survived by one son, Donald Nelson Land and wife, Sandra of Chipley; one daughter-in-law, Margaret Land of Pensacola; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Alcus Brock officiating. Private interment at Lynn Haven Cemetery will follow. Asked to serve as pallbearers are Robert Connell, Buddy Enfinger, Ralph Johnson and Henry Sasser. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 6 p.m. today.

RUTH E. LANCIN
Ruth E. Lancin, 83, of Panama City Beach passed away on Friday, Nov. 9, 2001, at her residence. Born in Birmingham, Ala., Ruth moved to this area in June of 1973 from Mukwonago, Wis. She was a homemaker, devoted wife and loving mother, and a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Mrs Lancin is preceeded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, Edward Lancin. Survivors include a son, James E. Lancin (Melody) of Chipley, Fla.; two daughters, Jean Lancin of Chipley, and Jane (Dale) Whitehouse; a sister, Mary Agnes Hadder (Don) of Birmingham, Ala.; and her special friend, Cissy; as well as five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at St. John Catholic Church, at noon with Father Andrew Lewandowski officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the mass, from 10 a.m. to noon.

ERNEST B. MILLENDER
Ernest B. Millender, age 83, of East Point, Fla., passed away Nov. 10, 2001, at his residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of Franklin County, and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a commercial fisherman for 55 years, retiring in 1994, and attended the East Point Church of God. He is survived by two daughters, Janice Tindell and husband, Henry and Cheryl Boatwright and husband, Steve, all of East Point; four brothers, Marion Millender, Fred Millender and Bert Millender, all of East Point, and Howard Millender of Crystal Beach, Texas; four grandchildren, Linda Phillips, Donna Bonner, Shawnna Martina and Stephanie Cook; and five great-grandchildren, Kerry, Austin, Jessica, Steven and Levi. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. EST Tuesday at the East Point Church of God with the Rev. Herman Knapp officiating. Interment will follow in East Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 12, 2001.

IRENE M. SWANNER
Mrs. Irene M. Swanner, who was born on April 17, 1936, in Amesbury, Mass., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, at a Pensacola health care facility. She was a resident of Parker, Fla. Irene moved to the area in June of 1979 from Willingboro, N.J., and had been a bookkeeper at Surplus Sales in Panama City. She was a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church and had also enjoyed membership in Moose Lodge No. 1389. Irene is preceded in death by her mother and father, and a sister, Regina. Survivors include her loving husband of 43 years, William D. Swanner; a son, Michael Swanner of Topeka, Kan.; two daughters, Laura Barnes (Steve) and Linda Kolmetz (Tim), both of Panama City, Fla.; as well as four brothers, Raymond Dignard (Maybell) of Spring Hill, Fla., Norman Dignard (Pat) of Maine, Joe Dignard (Maxine) of New Hampshire, Roger Dignard of Maine, Earnest (deceased) and Pat of Massachusetts; a sister, Laura McFadyen (Pete) of Connecticut; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A funeral Mass will take place at St. Dominic Catholic Church on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at 10 a.m. with Monsignor William A. Crowe officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Nov. 13th, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Southerland Family Funeral Home . The graveside committal service will be conducted by Pastor Jeff Thomas. Memorial contributions may be made in Irene's name to the American Cancer Society. Floral offerings will be accepted by the family.

EVA J. WHITE
Mrs. Eva J.White, 93, a resident of Springfield for over 60 years, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 10, 2001, at a local health care facility. Mrs. White was born in Washington County, in what is known as Chipley, Eva first moved here in 1935 from Phenix City, Ala. She ws a homemaker, loving wife and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She had chosen to praise the Lord at the Assembly of God Church. Mrs.White is preceded in death by her loving husband of over 60 years, Eugene; a grandson, Bradley Richards; three sisters, Gussie Mae Ellis, Edna Hardy and Betty Thorne; one brother, Miles L. McWilliams. Mrs. White is survived by two daughters, Doris Riddile (John R.) of Panama City, Fla., and Nina L. LeCompte of Shepardsville, Ky.; grandchildren, David E. Richards (Pam), Timothy J. Richards (Debra) Sammi LeCompte, Amy Floyd all of Panama City, Jane LeCompte and Samuel E. LeCompte Jr. (Linda) of Louisville, Ky.; sister-in-law, Rebecca Mathis of Florala, Ala.; brother-in-law, D.W. White (MayDell) of Dothan, Ala.; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, at the Southerland Family Funeral Home chapel. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation for Mrs. White will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at the Funeral Home.

CLYDE LaVAUGHN ALLGOOD
Mrs. Clyde LaVaughn Allgood, 71, of Blountstown, Fla., died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 11 a.m. (CST) from the Gateway Baptist Church in Blountstown with the Rev. David Goodman and the Rev. David Odum officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Memorial Cemetery in Blountstown. The family will receive friends today, Nov. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. (CST) at the Peavy Funeral Home. Mrs. Allgood was born in Calhoun County and had lived most of her life here. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Survivors include a husband, John T. Allgood, of Blountstown; two sons, John T. Allgood Jr. of Washington, La., and Donald C. Allgood of Destin, Fla.; three brothers, Chester Goodman of Blountstown, Doug Goodman of Blountstown, Durwin Goodman of Blountstown, Fla.; two sisters, Marie Touchton of Tallahassee, Carolyn Dugger of Bristol, Fla.; three grandchildren, Lauryn Allgood, Brigitte Allgood and Jonathan Allgood.

SANDRA KAY LARAMORE BLOUNT
Sandra Kay Laramore Blount, 47, passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, after a lengthy illness. She was administrative secretary to Mr. Fred Goodwin, principal at Bay High School, prior to her retirement in 1993. She was a lifelong resident of Panama City and a 1972 graduate of Rutherford High School. She was preceded in death by her parents, W.D. Laramore and Edna Laramore, sister Sharon Janell Laramore and a brother, Don Wayne Laramore. Survivors include a son, Scotty L. Blount, husband of 28 years, Larry L. Blount, both of Panama City; two sisters, LaVerne Olsen and husband, Bill, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and Barbara Rimer and husband, Glenn, of Mount Pleasant, N.C., two brothers, Billy Laramore and wife, Ruth, of Thomasville, Ga., and Ronald Laramore of Panama City; five nieces, six nephews, seven great-nieces and nine great-nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 13, at Trinity United Methodist Church with Dr. Floyd Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers are Mike Emerson, Barry Rimer, Billy Doyle Laramore, Pat Randall, Rick McMullen and Trey Laramore.

CHARLES BOCHICCHIO
Mr. Charles Bochicchio, 79, of Panama City Beach, Fla., passed away Friday, Nov., 9, 2001, at a local hospital. A native of Flushing, N.Y., he had been a resident of the Panama City Beach area for two years, moving here from Locust Grove, Va. Mr. Bochicchio was veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, and had retired from Grumman Aircraft Co. in Bethpage, NY. He was a member of the V.A. Association and Lutheran by faith. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jene Bochicchio, of Panama City Beach; a son, James Bochicchio and his wife, Jeanne, of Bath, N.Y.; a grandson, Brian Bochicchio and his wife, Christy; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Charles of Quincy, Ill.; brothers, Anthony Brooks of Cheshire, Conn., Gus Bach and his wife, Helen, of Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y., and Frank Bochicchio of Dallas, Texas; sisters, Mary Parker of Paoli, Pa., Lizzie Wiezbicki of Nesconset, N.Y., and Julie Moravic of Mineola, N.Y.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Bochicchio was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred; brothers, Paul and Raymond Bochicchio, a sister, Pauline Yurcak; and his parents, Paul and Hilda Bochicchio. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. HARRY LESLIE 'PA' COPE
Harry Leslie "Pa" Cope, age 93, peacefully with his family beside him, died November 11, 2001, at his home in Chipley. He was born into a pioneer farming family in Washington County on June 16, 1908. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Nellie Williams Cope; two daughters, Ann Prescott (Addison) and June Miles (Billy); and one son, Lynn Cope (Faye), all of Chipley. His descendants include six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Hubert Cope (Sybil) of Chipley; one sister, Eulene Pippin of Panama City; many nieces and nephews and a large church family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Emma Cope; three sisters, Irene Cope, Eva Bell and Bessie Chance; and two brothers, Frank Cope and Roland Cope. "Pa," as he was affectionately called in his family and community, was a faithful member of Holmes Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and in numerous other positions. He will respectfully be remembered as a bi-vocational farmer and school bus driver. "Mr. Harry," as the school children referred to him, bought his first bus and began driving for the Washington County School system in 1928. He retired after 42 years in 1970. He and his family were honored in 1996 as the Washington County Farm Bureau's Farmer Family of the Year. He was an active board member of the Farm Bureau and was endowed with a lifetime membership in April 1994. He and his family were honored in 1998 as the North Florida Fair Farm Family of the Year. He served on the Orange Hill Soil and Water Conservation Board of Washington County for 30 years. He was one of the first members and served on the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service Committee. He was selected as Vice Chairman of this committee in 1963. The family will gather at his home on Cope Road. The funeral service will be held at Holmes Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Steele officiating and great-granddaughter, Susan Shiver, giving an oral tribute to Pa's life. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his five grandsons, Leslie Prescott, Mark Miles, Grant Miles, Lynn Cope Jr., Leigh Cope and great-grandson Jamie Shiver.

BERNICE OWEN EDWARDS
Bernice Owen Edwards, of Panama City, died Nov. 10, 2001, in a local hospital. She had been a resident of Bay County since 1982, moving here from Greenville, Ala. She was a member of Forest Park United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ruby Judy Boyd, and son-in-law, Donald Noles. She is survived by a daughter, May Opal Noles of Panama City, son-in-law, Glenn T. Boyd, six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held today at 10 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ken Taylor officiating. Graveside services will be held today at 3 p.m. in the Magnolia Cemetery, Greenville, Ala.
