Robert Louis Neidhardt

August 4, 1934 - September 2, 2005

Funeral service for Robert Louis Neidhardt, 71, Ridgewood Street, DeLand, who died Friday, September 2, 2005, in Northport, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, at Lankford Funeral Home, 220 E. New York Ave., DeLand, with Deacon Ron Keehner officiating. Burial will be at DeLand Memorial Gardens. Calling hours are from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. today (Tuesday, Sept. 6) at the funeral home.

Mr. Neidhardt was born in Wexford, PA, and moved to this area in 1998 from Cranberry, PA. He was a member of Amvets Post 13 in DeLand. He had worked for Bulk Transit as a truck driver.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Betty Neidhardt of DeLand; sons, Robert (Amy) Neidhardt of Ambridge, PA, Robin Pitkins of Philadelphia, PA, Richard Pitkins of Johnstown, PA and David Pitkins of Johnstown, PA; daughter, Jan (Ken) Steen of West Mifflin, PA; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Mid Florida Chapter, 2701 Maitland Center Pkwy, Suite 100, Maitland, FL 32751.

Oswald Chalmers Stallard

May 17, 1917 - September 2, 2005

Oswald Chalmers Stallard, 88, of North Woodland Boulevard, an executive for Hercules Manufacturing Co., died Friday, September 2, at home.

Mr. Stallard was born in Tom's Creek, VA and came here in 1979 from Christiansburg, VA. He was a graduate of Knoxville Business College. He was an avid golfer.

Survivors include his companion, Evelyn "Eppie"; a son, William of Spring Hill, a daughter, Sue Dyer of Warner Robbins, GA; two brothers, Kenneth of Louden, TN and Jack of Virginia; three grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.

Lynn F. Zavalick

July 26, 1944 - February 1, 2008

Lynn F. Zavalick, 63, died February 1, 2008 at Florida Hospital DeLand. Ms. Zavelick was born in New York City, NY and moved to this area 26 years ago from Huntington, NY. She was a salesperson at WalMart in DeLand for the last 7 years where she had become a part of the family.

Lynn was a champion breeder of Labrador Retrievers for most of her life. Her most famous sire is Folklaur Orion of Talmarc. This love of Labrador Retrievers has helped her to gain a wonderful reputation and many dear friends internationally.

Survivors include her son, Wade Edward Pye, DeLeon Springs; daughter, Stephanie Stevens, DeLeon Springs; mother, Lucille Koska, Huntington, NY; sister, Janice Colonna, Huntington, NY; granddaughter, Kathryn Stevens and grandson, Jackson Stevens, both of DeLeon Springs; niece, Adria Colonna; nephews, Gregory and Michael Colonna, all of Huntington.

Visitation is from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday, February 3 at Lankford Funeral Home, DeLand. Memorial donations may be made to AKC K-9 Health Foundation, P.O. Box 37941, Raleigh, NC 27627.

Alice Hetzel Taylor

August 30, 1910 - February 6, 2008

Alice Hetzel Taylor, 97, Eastover Circle, DeLand, a resident since 1980, died February 6, 2008 at Hospice of Volusia/Flagler West Care Center, Orange City. Mrs. Taylor, a homemaker, was born August 30, 1910, in Cumberland, MD. She was a graduate of American University in Washington , DC and belonged to the American Association of University Women, the D.A.R. - Col. Arthur Erwin Chapter, Magnolia Circle of the DeLand Garden Club, as an avid bridge player she was a member of the American Contract Bridge League, DeLand Bridge Club, DeLand Country Club, charter member of the DeLand Museum of Art Guild and Trinity United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Norman W. Taylor, DeLand; daughter, Marjorie E. Crist, DeLand; son, Carl W. Crist, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; grandson, David W. Crist and great-grandson, Cole W. Crist.

A gathering of friends will be held Friday, February 8, from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Lankford Funeral Home, DeLand. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, c/o the West Volusia Center, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.

Mildred E. Binkley

July 12, 1946 - February 10, 2008

Memorial service for Mildred E. Binkley, 61, DeLand, who died February 10, 2008, at Florida Hospital DeLand, will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday, February 16, at Lankford Funeral Home, 220 E. NewYork Ave., DeLand. Mrs. Binkley, a homemaker, was born in Trenton, NJ and moved to this area in 2000 from New Jersey. She had worked part time as a secretary at Great Expressions Salon. She enjoyed her family and loved to cook and do crafting. She was a life member of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Volunteer Fireman's Association in New Jersey and the Dorothy Volunteer Fire & Rescue.

Survivors include her husband, Bennie J. Binkley, DeLand; son, James Binkley, Florida; two daughters, Lillian Berlin, Eustis, FL and Ann Lanier, Georgia; three brothers, Matthew Dayton, Monroe Dayton, and William Dayton, all of New Jersey; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Linwood Oliver

December 6, 1929 - February 13, 2008

Linwood Oliver, 78, son of the late Hanley and Selah Oliver, completed his earthly journey on February 13, 2008, at his home in DeLand on the St. Johns River with his wife, lifelong companion, friend, and co-traveler, Rosemarie Oliver, at his side.

Thinker, philosopher, avid reader, boater, fisherman, and NASCAR fan, he is survived by his wife, Rosemarie Boughter Oliver; his two sons and their wives, Barry and Brenda Oliver, Brewster Mass., and Jeff and Sarah Oliver, Pompano Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, Jennifer Oliver, Northhampton, Mass., Zachary Oliver, Haines City, Fla., Michael Oliver, Brewster, Mass., and Hannah Oliver, Pompano Beach; brother, David Oliver and his wife, Patricia Oliver, Rockledge, Fla.; half brother, Charles Oliver Kelly, Ephrata, Pa.; and two sisters, Dorothy Jones, Royersford, Pa., and Kathleen Carpenter, New York City, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.

Married for 58 years, Rosemarie and Linwood moved to Deltona, FL in 1983 and moved to DeLand in 2002 to fulfill their dream of living by the water. Born in Pottstown, PA, Linwood graduated from Pottstown High School, attended Indiana Technical College, Fort Wayne, IN, was a sergeant in the Marine Reserve, was active in Boy Scouts and Sea Scouts, Junior Chamber of Commerce, served as an adult advisor to the Methodist Youth Fellowship, belonged to the "Memories" singing group from Deltona, and recently entertained as a one man show at various nursing homes.

Graveside services will be held for the immediate family at Highland Memorial Cemetery, Pottstown, PA, on February 22, at 11 a.m. The family will be receiving family and friends at 974 North Hills Blvd. Pottstown, PA from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. A Celebration of life service will be held at the United Church of Christ in Deltona, at a later date. Kirill Lagunchik

February 12, 1987 - February 14, 2008

Graveside service for Kirill Lagunchik, 21, Palm Coast, who died February 14, 2008, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 19, at Oakdale Cemetery. A memorial service will be at 12 noon Tuesday at Elizabeth Hall at Stetson University, DeLand, with the Rev. Michael Fronk officiating.

Kirill was born in the Republic of Belarus and moved from there to this area in 1999. He was a 2005 graduate of Flager Palm Coast High School, and also graduated from DBCC at the same time through a dual enrollment program. He had completed an art instruction school and was currently enrolled at the Stetson University School of Business, majoring in finance.

Survivors include his parents, Nikolai and Olga Lagunchik, Palm Coast; one brother, Ilya Lagunchik, Palm Coast; paternal grandmother, Tamara Lagunchik, Belarus; and an aunt and uncle, Tatiana and Alexander But, Palm Coast.

Memorials may be made at any Bank of America to the Nikolai Lagunchik for Kirill Lagunchik trust account.

Natasha Lamay Hall

July 6, 1990 - February 15, 2008

Memorial service for Natasha Lamay Hall, 17, DeLand, who died February 15, 2008, in DeLand, will be 4 p.m. Sunday, February 24 at Lighthouse Christian Church, DeLand. She was a student.

Ladd William Smith

October 7, 1956 - February 15, 2008

Memorial service for Ladd William Smith, 51, DeLand, who died February 15, 2008, at Kindred Hospital, Ocala, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 23, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 359 West New York Ave., DeLand. Reception will follow in the Alpha-Omega Room at the church.

Mr. Smith was born in Homestead, FL and moved from there to this area 40 years ago. He was the assistant appraiser for the Volusia County Property Appraiser's office and a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in DeLand and the Knights of Columbus. Ladd was a beloved husband, father, brother and friend, and is now in the arms of Jesus and will forever be in the hearts of those who loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Sandra Smith; two sons, Ben Smith and Eric Smith, both of DeLand; nine daughters, Deanna Young, Deltona, Angela (James) Oyler, DeLand, Natalia (Joseph) Smith-Martinez, Gainesville, GA, Anna Smith, DeLand, Brandie Eades, Gulfport, Miss., Jennifer Smith, New Smyrna Beach, Rebecca Smith, DeLand, Lena Smith, DeLand, and Letitia (Jacob) Smith-Verminski, Norfolk, WV.; father, Ladd William Smith, Las Vegas, NV; two sisters, Ladette Smith, Winter Park, FL and Cozette (Michael ) Holbrook, Gainesville, GA; four grandchildren, Jimbo Oyler, Sissy Oyler, Ladd Oyler, and Clarissa Young; sister-in-law, Barbara (Doug) Flowers, DeLand; sister-in-law, Cindy (George) Furse, DeLand; uncle and aunt, Tom and Joyce Chester, DeLand; nephew, Frank (Melissa) Furse; niece, Stephanie Flowers; nephew, Doug Flowers Jr.; niece, Victoria Flowers; niece, Kimberly Furse; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Irene Cola, DeLand.

Gunner A. Johnson

April 13, 1919 - February 17, 2008

Memorial service for Gunnar A. Johnson, 88, Orange City, who died Sunday, February 17, 2008, at Leesburg Regional Medical Center, Leesburg, will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 20, at Lankford Funeral Home, 220 E. New York Ave., DeLand. Calling hours will be from 1 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lankford Funeral Home.

Mr. Johnson was born in Chicago, IL and moved to this area 25 years ago from St. Joseph, Minn. He was retired as a machinist. Mr. Johnson was a member of Moose Lodge and enjoyed dancing and being with his friends.

He is survived by two sons, Donald Johnson and Justin Johnson, both of St. Joseph; daughter, Jean Johnson, Golden Valley, Minn. and one grandchild.
