Dr. Matthew Douglas Stringer, 30, of Atlanta, Ga., died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001. A rosary will be held today at 7 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Dominic's Roman Catholic Church with Monsignor William Crowe officiating.

JOHN JOSEPH WEGLINSKI
John Joseph Weglinski, 68, of 912 Helen Ave., Springfield, Fla., died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, in his home. He was a retired technical sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, having served during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He had been a resident of Bay County since 1972, moving here from Madrid, Spain. He was the former owner of the Dairy Dome in Panama City. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred Weglinski, Daniel Weglinski; and a sister, Helen Weglinski. He is survived by his wife, Annette Weglinski, of Springfield; two daughters, Rosanne Weglinski of Panama City, Annette Weglinski and her husband, Mike McManus, of Columbia, Mo.; two sons, John Thomas Weglinski of Panama City, Michael Weglinski and his wife, Alicia, of Tallahassee; two sisters, Theresa Williams of Shenadoah, Pa., Anna Sendlock of Norfolk, Va.; and his faithful dog, Roofus. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 1:15 p.m. in the Fort Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, Fla., with full military honors conducted at the graveside.

ASA LEE WILLIAMS
The Rev. Asa Lee Williams, 90, of Panama City, went home to be with his Lord Tuesday morning, Dec. 11, 2001. Born in Washington County, he had been a lifelong resident of Panama City. The Rev. Williams was a retired minister and a member of First Assembly of God Church. During his ministry he pastored 13 churches and built seven churches in Northwest Florida. He also pastored in Alabama, Mississippi and South Carolina. The Rev. Williams was the last of 12 children and is preceded in death by two wives, Audrey Mae Williams and Elsie Mae Williams; and one son, Aaron Williams. He is survived by four daughters, Imogene Nelson and husband, Claude, Betty June Watkins and husband, Ulysee, Ruby Menard and husband, Larry, all of Panama City, and Naomi Scurlock and husband, Charles, of Brewton, Ala.; one stepdaughter, Susie Fowler of Panama City; two stepsons, John Masters of Alaska and Richard Masters of Hammersville, Ohio; 19 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services for the Rev. Williams will be conducted Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at 10 a.m. in the First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Phil Edwards and the Rev. Don Shoots officiating and the Rev. Williams' grandsons assisting, the Rev. Charlie Fowler Jr., the Rev. Jeffrey Scurlock and the Rev. Tony Legear. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

ROBERT EDWARD ADAMS JR.
Robert Edward Adams Jr., 83, of 437 S. Palo Alto Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at Health South Rehabilitation. He had been a resident of Bay County for 32 years, moving here from Jacksonville, Fla. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a pharmacist for City Drugs for 46 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Adams; and daughter, Deenie Altman. He is survived by four daughters, Judy Nelson, Jan Jones, Jeannie Resnikoff, Barbara Adams; son, Bob Adams; brother, John B. Adams; two sisters, Dorothy Pringle, Pat Shirley; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on Friday at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating.

RENA GRIMSLEY
Rena Grimsley passed away Tuesday, Dec, 11, 2001, in Blountstown. Originally from from Lynn Haven, she had spent most of her life in Cottondale. She was a member of the Cottondale Garden Club for several years and was a member of the Cottondale Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Wilson Grimsley. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Mary Grimsley, of Panama City, Howard and Martha Grims1ey, of Wewahitchka, and Jerry and Juanita Grimsley, of Jacksonville; one daughter and son-in-law, Bernice and Otis Stubbs, of Panama City; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and George Nelson, of Lynn Haven; a brother and sister-in-law, W.A. and Lois Jones, of Lynn Haven. Gramy will also be missed by her nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at Maddox Chapel with Father Jerry R. Huft officiating. Burial will follow in Cottondale Methodist Cemetery with James and James Funeral Home, Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends Friday, Dec, 14, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Otis Stubbs, Willard Clewis, Elton Register, Joe Grims1ey, Howard Grimsley and Jerry Grimsley.

RICHARD WILLIAM KIAH
Richard William Kiah, 58, of Port Orange, Fla., died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at his home. He was born Dec. 11, 1942, in Ogdensburg, N.Y. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a retired security guard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard C. and Goldie Kiah; two brothers, Ronnie Kiah and Robert Kiah; and a sister, Betty Anable. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Kiah, of Port Orange, Fla.; three children, Connie Evans and her husband, Dennis, of Panama City, Fla., Joseph Kiah and his wife, Melinda, of Borden, Ontario, Canada, and Ronald Kiah of Jacksonville, N.C.; five grandchildren, Matthew Kiah, Josh Kiah, Emily Kiah, Chelsea Kiah, A.J. Kiah; and three sisters, Barbara Ramie and her husband, Richard, of Lynn Haven, Fla., Brenda Luther and her husband, James, of Palm Coast, Fla., and Kathy Taylor of Ogdensburg, N.Y. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dick Barnett officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery with military honors conducted at graveside. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m.

MATTHEW DOUGLAS STRINGER
Dr. Matthew Douglas Stringer, 30, of Panama City, died Dec. 10, 2001, in Atlanta, Ga., from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Matthew was born in the Panama Canal Zone, and moved with his family to Panama City, Fla., in 1983. He graduated from Bay High School in 1989 and graduated from Augusta State University. He graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in May 2000. Matthew was a second-year surgical resident in Atlanta, Ga. He was fulfilling a lifelong dream of dedicating his life to helping others, and of becoming a neurosurgeon and returning to Panama City. He planned to join the Brain & Spine Center with his father, Dr. Douglas L. Stringer, his uncle, Dr. Merle P. Stringer, both neurosurgeons, his sister, Dr. Karin Stringer Maddox, and Dr. Kamel Elzawahry, both neurologists. Matthew is survived by his loving mother and father, Dorothy Stringer and Dr. Douglas L. Stringer, of Panama City; a loving sister, Dr. Karin Stringer Maddox and her husband, Richard Maddox, and their son, Matthew's godchild, Richard Thomas Maddox II; two devoted brothers, Brian D. Stringer and Thomas D. Stringer, both of Panama City; his uncle, Dr. Merle P. Stringer and his wife, Christine Stringer, of Panama City; and their children, Nicole Stringer Matheson and her husband, Chris, of Boston, Mass., Kevin Stringer and his wife, Angie, and their two children, of Panama City; and his aunt, Doris Eltner and her daughter, Aletha Baker, of Augusta, Ga.; a great aunt, Ruthe Cox, of Marietta, Ga.; and Storm, Jagger and Rascal. Funeral services will be held today at 10 a.m. in the St. Dominic's Catholic Church with Monsignor William Crowe officiating. Private family burial will in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Those desiring to may make a contribution to Gulf Coast Community College for a medical scholarship in memory of Matt Stringer. Active pallbearers are Brian Stringer, Tommy Stringer, Richard Maddox, Dr. Merle Stringer, Kevin Stringer, Ron Samuelian, Dr. Ron Sinicrope, Dr. Kamel Elzawahry, Lee Warren and Dr. Sammy Wolf. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Chris Hancock and Dr. Tim Osborne.
