ERNEST B. PUMPHREY
Ernest B. Pumphrey, age 79, of Birmingham and a former resident of Lynn Haven, Fla., went to be with his Lord on Monday, Dec., 17, 2001. Ernest was a World War II veteran and retired in 1983 after 36 years of service with Moore-Handley Hardware. He was a member of Clearview Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Louise; daughter, Elizabeth (Betty) Watkins of Birmingham; son, Robert Pumphrey and wife, Judi, of Germantown, Tenn.; four granddaughters, Connie Watkins, Deborah Wallace and husband, Dennis, Tanya Gagliano and husband, Tony, all of Birmingham and Lori Bade and husband, Robert, of Cordova, Tenn.; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be Thursday, Dec. 20, at 11a.m. at Ridout's Trussville Chapel with burial in Jefferson Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Bill Bigham and the Rev. Joel J. Johnson are officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be the retired employees of Moore-Handley Hardware and members of Clearview Senior Adult Men's Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. Ridout's Trussville Chapel, 205-655-2173, is directing.

BRADLEY K. "BRAD" RANSDELL
Mr. Bradley K. "Brad" Ransdell, age 35, of Panama City, passed away Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, from injuries received in an automobile accident. A native of Peoria, Ill., he had lived in Panama City for 21 years. Mr. Ransdell was a welder for Eastern Shipyard. He enjoyed helping his friends and neighbors, and loved all animals. He was involved in wildlife rehab and nursed sick baby animals back to health. Mr. Ransdell is survived by a son, Adam Kenneth Ransdell of Lynn Haven; his mother, Joyce Ransdell of Panama City; grandmother, Beatrice Ransdell of Normal, Ill.; two brothers, Scott Michael Ransdell of Panama City Beach and Mark Andrew Ransdell and his wife, Carla, of Lynn Haven; beloved niece and nephew, Brittany and Hunter Ransdell; the mother of his son, Jeri Ransdell of Lynn Haven; loving girlfriend, Jolanta Hunter; and beloved aunt and uncle, Bob and Kay Adams of Bloomington, Ill. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 20, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Father Pete Zalewski officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home an hour prior to service time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bay County Humane Society or the Lynn Haven Animal Shelter.

FRANCES ELIZABETH TAYLOR
Frances Elizabeth Taylor, age 54, of Opp, Ala., died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001. Graveside services were held on Monday, Dec. 17, beginning at 3 p.m. Wyatt Funeral Home of Opp, Ala., was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Jewel Whitfield, age 80, of 132 Coral Drive, Panama City Beach, Fla., died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at a local hospital. Mrs. Whitfield is survived by two sons, Gary Whitfield of Panama City Beach, and Ben Whitfield of Dothan, Ala.; two sisters, Lilly Sandlin of Lake Park, Ga., and Wilma Carter of Valdosta, Ga.; one brother, Joe Gilliam of Jennings, Fla.; two grandchildren, Lisa Dax and Dustin Whitfield; and two great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Whitfield. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today, Dec. 19, at the First Baptist Church of Panama City Beach with the Rev. Keith Sandlin officiating. Interment will be held Friday, Dec. 21, at Miami Memorial Park in Miami. The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church from noon until funeral time today. Flowers will be accepted at the church after 11 a.m. today.

LYNN GOLDEN "JAKE" ZIMMERMAN
Mr. Lynn Golden "Jake" Zimmerman, 72, of 1220 Seventh St., Southport, Fla., died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at his residence. He had been a resident of Bay County since 1972 moving here from Orlando, Fla. Mr. Zimmerman was retired from the United States Air Force after 27 years of service and also retired from Surplus Sales after 27 years of working as service manager. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and served during the Vietname War. Mr. Zimmerman was also a member of the American Legion of Southport. He is survived by his wife, Elinor Zimmerman of Southport; two sons, Raymond Powell of Fountain and Roger L. Zimmerman of Springfield; four daughters, Linda Young and husband, Bill, of Southport, Judi Gharst and husband, Krea, of Bayou George, Janice Sullivan of Fountain and Carol Norwood and husband, Pete, of Bayou George; one brother, Jim Zimmerman Jr. of Pine Grove, Pa.; two sisters, Vivian Reed and June Knarr, both of Schuylkill Haven, Pa.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Graveside services for Mr. Zimmerman will be conducted Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at 11 a.m. in Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Don Hodges officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

DALE ALAN DOUGHERTY
Mr. Dale Alan Dougherty, 81, of Marianna, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, in Tallahassee. Mr. Dougherty was born in Bradenton, Fla., May 7, 1920. He was a resident of this area since 1956 after moving here from Bonifay. Mr. Dougherty was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marianna for 42 years and was a current member of the Blue Springs Community Church. He was a graduate of the University of Florida School of Forestry. Mr. Dougherty was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army, serving our country with pride in World War II in the Europeon Theater of Operations. He was a farm forester with the Florida Division of Forestry as a county forester, a timberland supervisor with International Paper Company and Area Land Management supervisor with Southwest Forest Industries. Mr. Dougherty also worked as a Realtor with Chipola Realty. He was a member of the Society of American Foresters since 1943, he was a recepient of the Silver Beaver for the Boy Scouts of America, was chairman of the Marianna Tree Board, Kiwanis Club for 19 years, Gideons International for 14 years, and the Prison Fellowship International for 14 years. Mr. Dougherty loved his family very much and was very proud of all of them. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Dorothy "Dot" Dougherty, of Marianna; four children, Kathleen Sirmans and husband, Terry, of Panama City, Judith Anne Dougherty of Tallahassee, John Dale Dougherty of Golden, Colo., Jill Dean of Tallahassee; five grandchildren, Gina Gilbert of Tallahassee, Jennifer Sapp of Marianna, Ashleigh and Joshua Jordan of Tallahassee, Sarah Dean of Tallahassee; three great-grandchildren, Anne Marie Sapp and Ethan Sapp of Marianna, Nathanael Alan Jordan of Tallahassee; three nieces and one nephew. Services will be held Friday, Dec. 21, at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Marianna with Pastors Randy Umberger and Perry Riley officiating. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends this evening, Dec. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Gideons International, P.O. TONY LEE LOCKLEAR
Mr. Tony Lee Locklear, 24, of Callaway, Fla., died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2001, in a local hospital. Funeral services for Tony will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 22, at 11 a.m. in the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

NORMAN W. KEESLER
Mr. Norman W. Keesler, loving husband and father, age 71, of Panama City, passed away Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at his residence. He was born in Lewis Run, Pa., and had lived in Panama City for 31 years. Mr. Keesler was retired as a senior master sergeant, serving 21 years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he served as a high priest. Mr. Keesler is survived by his wife of 52 years, Etta Keesler, of Panama City; three sons, Clifford L. Keesler and his wife, Candy, of Camdenton, Mo., David H. Keesler and his wife, Rachelle, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Todd A. Keesler and his wife, Pam, of Lynn Haven; an honorary son, David Hagood and his wife, Betty, of Parker; a brother, Donald Keesler and his wife, Helen, of Bradford, Pa.; two sisters, Betty Casey of Manchester, N.H., and Dolores Gifford of Smithport, Pa.; and his grandchildren, Autumn Zeisset, Aaron, Andrew and Wesley Keesler, Robert Keesler, Tiffany Hanson, Nicole, Wesley K., Timothy and Daniel Keesler, Cheryl and Melanie Keesler, and Sara Anderton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Gertrude Keesler; a sister, Dorothy Butler; an infant brother, Chester Keesler; and a great-grandson, Chance Keesler. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today, Dec. 20, 2001, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3140 State Ave., with Bishop Phil Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with full military honors conducted by Tyndall Air Force Base Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will include David Hagood, Robert Inman, Robert McComb, Jerry Guynn, Sonny Shuler and Wilford Jordan. The family will receive friends and loved ones at the church from 11 a.m. until service time today.

TONY LEE LOCKLEAR
Mr. Tony Lee Locklear, 24, of Callaway passed away Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, in a local hospital after being struck by an automobile. Tony was employed as a surveyor with Buchanan and Harper, Inc. He aslo was a student at Gulf Coast Community College. Tony attended the Trinity Methodist Church. He is survived by a daughter, Alexis Darsey; parents, John and Mable Locklear; fiance, Kara Booker; brother, Bruce Locklear; maternal grandmother, Joyce Maddox; special friends, Mack and Fonda McLauchlin; and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services for Tony will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 22 at 11 a.m. in Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The following gentlemen will serve as active pallbearers, Bruce Locklear, Shane Booker, Ken Booker, Todd Tindall, B.H. Sweeney, Mack McLauchlin, Dana Jones and Buel Harper. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Buchanan and Harper, Inc. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The famliy headquarters will be at 3033 LaMesa Ave. in Hiland Park.
