Funeral services for Ressie B. (Rex) Eddins, of Panama City, who died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, in a local nursing home will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dan Harrison officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Larry Hyler, Michael Pons, Billy Camp, Jack Hagler, Steven Northcutt, Randall Barnhart, and Dwight Curenton. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Dorcas Sunday school class of St. Andrews Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. today. Those desiring to may make a contribution of the St. Andrew Baptist Church or Covenant Hospice in memory of Rex Eddins.

HELEN GALETTA
Ms. Helen Galetta, 77, of Parker, Fla., passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at a local hospital. A native of Crestview, she was a lifelong resident of the Panhandle area. She was a member of Springfield United Methodist Church. Ms. Galetta enjoyed arts and crafts, making floral arrangements, and loved the company of her family and friends. She is survived by three sons, Donnie Galetta of Southport, Lonnie Galetta of Fountain, and Jonnie Galetta of Orlando, Fla.; a brother, Lewis Weekley, of Crestview; a sister, Ola Parker, of Panama City; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Newberry officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Donnie Galetta, Lonnie Galetta, Jonnie Galetta, Craig Newberry, Corry Galetta, and Mike Smith. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Jan. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m

BETTY JEAN MIESSE
Mrs. Betty Jean Miesse, 65, of Panama City Beach, passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at her residence. She was born in Pleasantville, Ohio, and had lived in Panama City Beach for 12 years, moving here from Atlanta. Mrs. Miesse was the former owner and operator of BJ Computer Marketing, and was a member and president of her Sunday school class at Woodlawn United Methodist Church in Panama City Beach. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Dwight Miesse, of Panama City Beach; two sons, Brian Miesse and his wife, Jennifer, of Panama City, and Greg Miesse and his wife, Sandy, of Alpharetta, Ga.; a brother, Homer Wade and his wife, Betty, of Lancaster, Ohio; two grandchildren, Jessica and Meredith Miesse of Alpharetta, Ga.; a niece, Sally Kohler of Lancaster, Ohio; a great-niece, Kelli Wagner, of Lancaster, Ohio; and numerous aunts and uncles in the Lancaster, Ohio, area. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Ball officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Ask to serve as active pallbearers are: Ed Stuckey, Chad West, Gilbert Mills, Earl Browning, Eddi Lamb, and David Kilzer. JAMES NICHOLAS PETRANDIS
James Nicholas "Jim" Petrandis, 68, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, in Fort Walton Beach. The service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 3:30 p.m., EST at Chapel of Bevis Funeral Home in Tallahassee with a private burial at Roselawn Cemetery in Tallahassee. A native of Tallahassee, he had lived in Fort Walton Beach for the past 32 years. He was the owner and operator of Cars Inc. He was a graduate of Leon High School and attended Florida State University. He was also an avid golfer. He was a Korean War veteran of the United States Navy. Survivors include his children, Jimmy Petrandis and Marcina Showalter, both of Tallahassee; mother, Hazel Petrandis, Tallahassee; brother, Mike Petrandis, Tallahassee; two sisters, Patricia Camechis and Mary Petrandis, both of Tallahassee; grandson, Nicholas James Petrandis, Key Largo, Fla.

JOHN VIRGIL SWINDELL
John Virgil Swindell, 46, went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 12, 2002, at his residence 2901 W. 21st St., Panama City. He was a lifelong resident of Bay County, and graduated from Rutherford High School in 1973. After graduation, he faithfully served his country for 10 years, and was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1982 and served in the Florida Army National Guard. He was an employee of the Bay County Sheriff's Office, C.C.A. and Springfield Police Department for 11 years. After leaving law enforcement, he went to work for Buzz Leonard as an ASE master service technician and remained there until he moved to his current job at Trendwestern, where he also worked as a ASE master service technician. John's favorite hobby was golfing, and he was a diehard fan of the Florida State Seminoles and the Miami Dolphins. He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy, of 26 years; a daughter, Amy (Brian); and grandaughter, Gillian Prior, of Panama City; a son, Tim Swindell, of Panama City; and a mother, Catherine Swindell. of Panama City; three brothers, Larry (Louwanna) Swindell and their sons, Josh (Melissa) and David, all of Pensacola, Allen (Kathy) Swindell and their three daughters, Alisha, Makayla, and Amber, all of Panama City, Paul Swindell and his children, Heather and Adam, all of Panama City; and a sister, Diane (Frank) Reeder, and their four children, Jimmy, Greg, Steven, and Ashley, all of Panama City, as well as eight great-nephews; five great-nieces; and one grandmother, Della Anderson, of Panama City. He was a born-again Christian and attended First Assembly of God, Panama City. The family will receive friends this evening, Jan. 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services for Mr. Swindell will be held at First Assembly of God, Panama City, Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m., with Bro. Marshall "Red" Emanuel and Pastor Phil Edwards officiating. Following the ceremony, burial will be held at Lynn Haven Cemetery. John's request was that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Gulf Coast Hospice.

Memorial services for Mrs. Anna Mae Armel, 90, of Panama City Beach, will be conducted today, Jan. 18, at 11 a.m. in Woodlawn United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ron Ball officiating. SELDA M. COSS
Selda "Sally" M. Coss, 84, of Fountain, Fla., passed away at a local nursing center on Dec. 2, 2001. Born in Chicago, Ill., she moved here in 1977 from Gary, Ind. She had been employed with A.B. Dick Inc., a printing company, in the film department. Mrs. Coss was of the Lutheran faith. Her memberships include the Volunteer Fire Department of Fountain, the Community Center, and the Garden Club. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, as well as two brothers. Survivors include her husband of 18 years, Lewis R. Coss of Fountain; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Jan. 19, at 9 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Fountain with Father William Brown officiating. Memorial contributions may be made, in Selda's name, to the Covenant Hospice, 2589 Jenks Ave., Panama City, Fla. 32405.

Elsie C. Freeman, 91, of Panama City Beach, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, in a local nursing home. She was a native of Skirm, Ala. She is survived by two daughters, Jean Webb of Panama City Beach and E. Joan Dunham of Hattiesburg, Miss. The family requests memorialization by cremation.

Atrie Lee Hannah, 87, of Panama City, died Saturday, Jan. 12, in Boston, Mass. She was a native of Troy, Ala., but had been a longtime resident of Panama City, Fla. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church where she united under the leadership of the late Rev. P.L. Glover. As a longtime member of New Bethel, she served faithfully on the usher board, kitchen committee, and the mission. She is survived by her sons, Mr. James Franklin (Dorothy) Rollins, Milwaukee, Wis., Mr. Andrew J. (Shirley) Hannah Jr., Panama City, Fla.; her daughters, Ms. Agnes Hannah, Ms. Cassie Farmer Hannah, Boston, Mass., Mrs. Joyce H. White, Troy, Ala.; 14 grandchildren, Gregory, Bridgett, Lisa, Laura, Atrie, Theresa, Shelia, Dennis Rollins; Jessie Dawson, Chaka, Towanda Hannah, Tywan, Benjamin and Jasmine White; a goddaughter, Ella B. Norma Reed, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; one brother-in-law, Mr. Lorenzo Hannah (Mildred) and family of Milton, Fla.; special friends, Mrs. Willie Mae Bolware, Mrs. Susie Gibson, Dea. Rudolph Breland; and numerous other relatives. Funeral services for Mrs. Hannah will be held Saturday, Jan. 19, at 2 p.m. in New Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. James D. Bush Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Public visitation will begin this afternoon at the funeral home from 1 to 8 p.m. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.

JOHN C. HOWES
The Rev. John C. Howes, 90, of Panama City, Fla., went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at a local nursing facility. He had been a resident of the Panama City area since 1943, coming here from Pensacola. The Rev. Howes had been an active ordained minister for 49 years since January 1934, holding pastorates in South Alabama and West Florida for 37 years. The last 23 years of his pastorate, 1950 to 1973, was with Calvary Baptist Church of Panama City. While in service with the U.S. Navy in the Panama Canal Zone, he worked two years, 1940 to 1941, in Central American missions. He also served two years as moderator of the Florida State Baptist Association and had for nine years served as an officer, research assistant, and proofreader to Dr. Albert Garner and the Blessed Hope Foundation in Lakeland, Fla. The Rev. Howes is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Gracie Howes of Panama City; a daughter, Barbara Boschen of Pensacola; a grandson, Bob Boschen of Pensacola; a great-granddaughter, Alicia Boschen of Pensacola; stepchildren, Cumi Walsingham and her husband, Gary, of Panama City Beach and Linda Cooper and her husband, Mark, of Panama City; and stepgrandchildren, Christina Cooper, Mike Walsingham and his wife, Pam, and Sherri Walsingham. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Albert Garner and the Rev. Jim Hankins officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Randy Dorriety, Tony McBride, Jim Berrey, Mike MacMullin, and Ricky Bailey. Honorary pallbearers include past and present members of Calvary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Jan. 18, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Anna Mary Hoyt, 86, mother of Phillip J. Hoyt (Patricia Temple Hoyt), passed away Jan. 17, 2002, at Woodbriar Nursing Center in Wilmington, Mass. Funeral services will be in North Reading, Mass., with private funeral services at Croswell Funeral Home Chapel. LISTER W. MOORE Funeral services for Mr. Lister W. Moore, 73, of Panama City Beach, will be conducted today, Jan. 18, 2002, at 1 p.m. in the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Lynn Haven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or Camilla Baptist Church, Prison Fellowship Fund at 201 Woodvale Road, Prattville, AL 36067 in memory of Mr. Moore.
