Linda Gail Locke, age 29, and Brittany Nicole Locke, age 17 months, of Fountain, went to meet the Lord, Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, from injuries received in an automobile accident. On February 2, 2002, they were joined by son and brother, Thomas Austin Locke, after he lost his brave battle from injuries in the same accident. They were natives and lifelong residents of Bay County and were Baptist by faith. Linda attended Mosley High School and was a homemaker. Austin was full of energy and loved to play. He was a student at Waller Elementary. Brittany charmed you with her blue eyes and loved to laugh. They will be missed and loved forever by family and friends. Mrs. Locke and children, Austin and Brittany, are survived by her husband and father, Tommy Locke of Fountain; a son and brother, Scotty Locke of Fountain; Linda Gail's father, Buddy Sirmans and his future wife, Charlene, of Lumber City, Georgia; her mother, Luverne Aaron, of Fountain; Tommy's mother, Hazel Locke, of Loris, S.C.; Linda Gail's brothers, Kenneth Sirmans and Alex Sirmans and his wife, Helen, all of Panama City; a brother-in-law, Curtis Cooley, of Panama City; her sister-in-law, Teresa Gilmer, of Bear Creek; nephews, Shane and Shawn Gilmer, and Justin and Miranda Sirmans; her niece, Debbie Sirmans, and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Fountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mrs. Edith V. Sewell, age 93, of Blountstown, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, in Blountstown. Mrs. Sewell was born in Holmes County and was a lifelong resident of Altha and Blountstown. She was a retired accountant with the Department of Revenue for the state. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Murphy and Valerie Sewell of Orlando; one daughter, Ann Adkins, of Panama City; one daughter-in-law, Charlene Sewell, of Tallahassee; grandchildren, and their spouses, Lavoy and Patty Anderson, Kenneth Lynn and Raylene Anderson, of Panama City, Pam Logston, Debbie Lewkow, of Panama City, Lee Ann and Tyler Coker, of Roswell, Ga., Sherree and Kent Knisley, Roy Sewell of Tallahassee, Paul Adkins, Billy Adkins, and Stacy Adkins, of Panama City; numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. CST in the Altha Church of God with the Rev. David Pleasant officiating. Interment will follow in Chipola Cemetery in Altha. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Blountstown. Adams Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

DOUGLAS LEE WHITAKER
Mr. Douglas Lee Whitaker, age 31, of Panama City Beach, passed away Feb. 1, 2002. He was employed by Arizona Chemical Company. Douglas is survived by his parents, Lee and Barbara Whitaker, of Panama City, and Nancy Whitaker of Gordo, Ala.; one sister, April, and her husband, Todd Combs; and one brother, Jason Whitaker. His grandparents are Louvenia Whitaker of Panama City and Bob and Betty Fisk, also of Panama City; aunts and uncles, Jack and Pat Kirkland, and Janie Bees, of Panama City, Richard and Lutrell Sohn of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., Kie and Derah Carter, and Dorothy Brookshire, all of Dallas, Ga.; Geary Carter of Austell, Ga., Barbara Haines of Cedartown, Ga.; cousins, Avery, Merrinda, Paul, Ray, Ben, Paul, Russell, Steven, Ken, Jack, Phil and Chris. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. Alvin Whitaker and Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Carter. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at 4 p.m. at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Phil Kirkland officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Feb. 4, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Anchorage Children's Home in memory of Douglas Lee Whitaker.

ALPHUS A. (AL) COBB
Mr. Alphus A. (Al) Cobb, 70, of Lynn Haven, Fla., passed away Monday, Feb. 4, 2002. Born Feb. 18, 1931, he was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Delilah Cobb; and by four brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Wen, and his children; his daughter, Ellen Gerlecz and her husband, Joe; and their children Mary Katharine, Mark, and Sarah Beth; and his son, Allen Cobb and his wife, Saundra; and their daughter, Emily; and by six sisters-in-law and six brothers-in-law. At the time of his death, he had been employed at Tommy Thomas Chevrolet for 22 years, where he was the recipient of many of Chevrolet's top salesman awards, both locally and nationally. Before his employment at Tommy Thomas, he was owner of Bay Tractor Company. He was a faithful member of The Rock of Panama City for over 40 years. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 2 p.m. at The Rock of Panama City, with Apostle F. Nolan Ball officiating. The family will receive friends today, Feb. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to The Rock of Panama City Ministry Fund, which will help to establish men in the ministry.

RUBY (JUDY) CROKER
Ruby (Judy) Croker, 83, of Panama City, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at a local nursing home. She had been resident of Bay County since 1993, moving here from Lavonia, Ga. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Croker. Mrs. Croker is survived by a daughter, Jane Adams and her husband, Hank, of Panama City Beach; two grandchildren, Susan Jayne Major and her husband, Randy, of Douglasville, Ga., Kevin Phillip Adams and his wife, Suzzie, of Dallas, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Anzlie A. Adams, Kennedy Adams; a sister, Mildred Brandenburg and her husband, Clint, of Macon, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Henry Hazard officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.

ELSIE MAE ANDREWS DAVIS
Elsie Mae Andrews Davis of Panama City died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a native of Kentucky and had lived in Bay County since 1948. The family may be contacted by friends at 3525 T St., Panama City. The family has requested memorialization by cremation. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

DOROTHY JO MITCHELL
Mrs. Dorothy Jo Mitchell, 62, of Howard's Creek, Fla., passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at her home. She was born in Washington County, Fla., and moved from Panama City to Howard's Creek in 1993. Mrs. Mitchell was a member of Howard's Creek Baptist Church and was the secretary-treasurer for the Volunteer Fire Department of Howard's Creek. She also served on social committees and was very involved in her community. Mrs. Mitchell was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who leaves behind her husband, John Mitchell of Howard's Creek; a daughter, Charlotte Wylene Ford and her husband, John, of Panama City; two stepsons, Larry Mitchell and his wife, Vicki, and Jerry Mitchell, all of Panama City; a brother, Sonny Horton and his wife, Jeanne, of Lynn Haven; five sisters, Shirley Creely and her husband, Paul, of Chesapeake, Va., Ruby Bush of Howard's Creek, Barbara Janosick and her husband, Mike, of Lubbock, Texas, Bonnie Ingram of Webb, Ala., and Carolyn Thornton and her husband, Jerry, of Sardis, Tenn.; two grandsons, Dominic Ford and Clint Mitchell, both of Panama City; a granddaughter, Margie Mitchell of Panama City; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donnieta Rakestraw. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7 at Howard's Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Hopkins and the Rev.. Sheldon Adams officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Walter Wilder, Pete Meadows, Jimmy Alford, George Lambert, Steve Long, and Rutherford Surber. Honorary pallbearers will include Carl Johnson, Jake Tankersly, and the workers of the machine room at the paper mill. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home on Wednesday, Feb. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. There will also be a visitation at the church from noon Thursday until service time.

CHARLES L. ROCK
Mr Charles L. Rock, 87, of Panama City Beach, Fla., passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at his residence. He was born in Kansas City, Kan., and had lived in Panama City Beach since 1979. Mr. Rock was a retired general foreman with Armour and Company Meats for 44 years, and was of the Methodist faith. He is survived by a daughter, Mary E. Morris, of Panama City Beach; a sister, Bea Brock of Overland Park, Kan.; four grandchildren, Richard Morris and his wife Marie of Panama City, Charles Morris and his wife, Cindy, and Harold Morris Jr. and his wife, Prissy, all of Panama City Beach, and Katherine Johns and her husband, David Hands, of Odum, Ga.; eight great-grandchildren, Christopher, Tiffany, Jonathan, Matt, Josh, Phillip, Kristina, and Harold III; and two great-great-grandchildren, Britni and Vance. Graveside funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, Feb. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services for Mr. Jimmy Stanford, 62, of Southport, who passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 5, 2002, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Hodges officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Phil Ramer, Freddie Logan, Charlie Brown, James Hayes, Logan Pope, and James Ward. Honorary pallbearers will include Rayburn French, Tom Benefield, J.T. Spikes, Homer Spikes, and Maurice Spikes.
