Mrs. Marileigh Adkison, 54, of Chipley, Fla., went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Feb. 7, at her residence following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church, 1098 Lovewood Road, with Pastor John Howell and Pastor Steve Patton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with James and Lipford Funeral Home of Graceville directing. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted or those wishing may make a memorial gift in memory of Marileigh to Florida Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 8190, Lakeland, FL 33802. Mrs. Adkison was born in Chipley on Aug. 22, 1947, to W.O. and Jimmie Lee Edwards Drummond. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, beloved by all. She was a 1964 graduate of Cottondale High School and a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jimmie Lee Edwards Drummond. She is survived by her devoted husband of 36 years, Kenneth Adkison of Chipley; four children, Michelle Hubbard and husband, Matthew, of Dothan, Jarrod Adkison and wife, Tara, Joy Hutching, Chasity Hartzog and husband, Cody, all of Chipley; brother, Joe Drummond and wife, Carolyn, of Cottondale; three sisters, Barbara Storm and husband, Leonard, of Birmingham, Ala., Carolyn Kight and husband, Roy, of Hazelhurst, Calif., Linda Alexander and husband, Armand, of Cottondale; five grandchildren, Seth Hubbard, Caleb Hutching, Chelsea, Nathan and Mary Beth Adkison; and a foster grandchild, Destiny Paige Moore.

LESSIE ANDERSON
Mrs. Lessie Anderson, 76, of 818 E. Eighth Court, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, in Bay Medical Center. Mrs. Lessie Anderson was born in Youngstown, Fla., on March 8, 1925, to the late Matthew and Marie Holmes. She departed this life for her heavenly home on Feb. 2, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Anderson; three children, Glynn Marie, Richard Allen and Sharon; and a loving sister, Mrs. Mattie Barker. She lived and worked in the Bay County area for the late Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Arnold, and the late Mr. Tommy Thomas and wife Mrs. Virginia Thomas, for more than 40 years. She was educated in the schools of Bay County. She loved God, her family, music, flowers, traveling, and shopping. She always had a beautiful smile and she will be dearly missed by all. She was a loving and devoted mother to all of her children. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memories a loving and always devoted sister, Mrs. Mary (Amir) Luqman of Waycross, Ga.; aunt, Flora Holmes of Panama City; four daughters, Vonnie Rene Anderson, Fendora Brown, Lizzette Holcomb, all of Panama City, Nadine (Lary) Kirkland of Chilliwack, B.C.; seven sons, James C. Shazier, Arthur (Velma) Shazier, Alphene (Jane) Brown, Ronald Anderson, Tony Anderson, Stephon Anderson, all of Panama City, Wayne Bowden of Cunningham, Tenn.; stepson, Charles Anderson of Maywood, Ill.; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Caroline of Bristol, Fla., and Mattie and Missy of DeFuniak, Springs, Fla.; two special former daughters-in-law, Glenda Kemp of Montgomery, Ala., Queen Cook of Guam; two devoted and faithful nieces, Jeannette Guilford and Jannie Smith; three loyal friends, Margie Lovette, Mattie Taylor and Betty Vickers; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Anderson will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 11 a.m. in St. John Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Woodrow Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Public visitation will begin today at the funeral home from 1 to 8 p.m. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. The family will receive friends at 818 E. Eighth Court.

GLORIA BARLOW
Mrs. Gloria Barlow, age 62, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at a local hospital. She had been a resident of the area since 1965, coming here from Chipley. Mrs. Barlow was a member of St. Andrew Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Barlow of Panama City; two daughters, Lisa Andrews and her husband of 45 years, Bill, and Cindy Madsen and her husband, Jeff, all of Lynn Haven; a son, Greg Barlow and his wife, Pam, of Panama City; five grandchildren, Greg Still, Ashley Madsen, Alicia Madsen, Tyler Andrews, and Austin Barlow; her mother, Lola Melson of Panama City; two sisters, Betty Howell and her husband, Ray, of Birmingham and Sharon McKinney and her husband, Jerry, of Panama City; three brothers, Clyde Melson and his wife, Ilene, of Pensacola, Rusty Melson and his wife, Jean, of LaGrange, Ga., and Douglas Melson of Panama City; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Key officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, Feb. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m.

MARGARET BROWN KELLY
Mrs. Margaret Brown Kelly, 63, of 2722 E. Eighth St., died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, in Bay Medical Center. She was born Nov. 2, 1938, in Hartford, Ala., to the late Kathion Davis Miller and Charles Bryant. She was the granddaughter of the late Sidney and Louise Jacobs. She attended and graduated from Hartford High School in May 1958. At an early age she confessed to Christ at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Hartford, Ala. She resided in Panama City for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaiah (Sonny) Brown. She leaves to cherish her memories a stepdaughter, Debra (Charles) Dawson; three grandchildren, all of Panama City; two aunts, Orie Anderson of Montgomery, Ala., and Marie Fincher of Detroit, Mich.; one uncle, Sam (Ida Bell) Bryant of Port St. Joe; six godchildren; four sister-in-laws, Carrie (Roosevelt) Alford, Mildred (Fred) Rainge, Annie Luster and Mary (Patrick) Pegus; two brother-in-laws, Jimmy Brown and Willie (Pauline) Brown; and a host of cousins, other relatives and special friends, Larry (Jackie) Hurtley and Evelyn. Funeral services for Mrs. Kelly will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at 2 p.m. in Battle Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Lonnie Mitchell officiating. ALICE OLIVER
Mrs. Alice Oliver, age 86, of Panama City, passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at a local nursing facility. She was born in Quincy, Fla., and had lived in Bay County since 1937. Mrs. Oliver was a homemaker, a member of the Quarter Century Club of Arizona Chemical Co., former member of the Elks Club's Does, and a founding member of St. John's Catholic Church. She is survived by her daughters, Ann Digsby and her husband, Paul, of Panama City, Carol Riggs and her husband, Larry, of Corona Del Mar, Calif., and Phyllis Childree and her husband, Gary, of Valdosta, Ga.; a son, Robert Oliver and his wife, Lecile, of Lynn Haven; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence A. Oliver. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at St. John's Catholic Church with Fr. Marty Bratek officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Artie Digsby, John Digsby, Tom Digsby, Ryan Oliver, Nickie Chaknis, Hunter Jennette, and Freddie Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will include Travis Whitman, Leo St. Amant, Edris Whitehurst, Jerry Ferrell, Dr. Woodie Smith, Donnie Carter, Horace Mathis, and Paul Boswell. DAISY LEE BYRD PITTMAN
Daisy Lee Byrd Pittman answered her call from the Lord Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002. She was born July 17, 1937, to the late David Byrd Sr. and Portia Price Byrd in Apalachicola. As a child she moved to Port St. Joe. Her education began at the Catholic school in Franklin County, and later she transferred to Washington High School. Her career was centered around the Gulf County School System as a bus driver, in guidance, as receptionist, and transportation department secretary. She was also an active member of her church, the Thompson Temple First Born Church of the Living God. Sister Pittman leaves to cherish her loving memory her son, James (Jeanette) McGee; two daughters, Dorothea "Rose" Peterson (Willie), and Barbara Baxter; two brothers, David (Lois) Byrd, and Jeffery Dixon; one sister, Cassandra Russ; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 11, at 11 a.m. EDT at Thompson Temple First Born Church of the Living God with the Bishop Frank Hogan officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m.

CARL JACKSON RAFFIELD
Capt. Carl Jackson Raffield, age 86, of Port St. Joe, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at a local hospital. He was the founder and fleet captain of the Raffield Fisheries, Inc. Capt. Carl Raffield is survived by his wife of 66 years, Laura Evelyn Raffield of Port St. Joe; three sons, William Harold Raffield and his wife, Sandra, of St. Joe Beach, Ronald Clayton Raffield and his wife, Peggy, of Port St. Joe, and Danny Lee Raffield and his wife, JoAnn, of Simmons Bayou, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. CST at Gospel Assembly Church, 424 E. Baldwin Road, Panama City, with the Rev. Steve Coy officiating. Interment will be held at 3 p.m. CST at Pleasant Rest Cemetery in Overstreet, Fla. The family will receive friends at the church today, Feb. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be more information on the life of Capt. Raffield in Saturday's obituaries.
