Funeral services for Connie M. Parish, 45, of Panama City, who died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, in a local hospital, will be held today at 1 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Kuhn officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories. Active pallbearers are Chuck Hagan, Mark Huffman, Jeff Parish, Jay Parish, Richard Gaines and Josh Eichenbaum. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the Humane Society of Bay County, 1600 Bay Ave., Panama City, FL 32405 in memory of Connie Parish.

DELIA S. SMITH
Delia S. Smith, 90, of Apalachicola, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, in Eastpoint, Fla. Mrs. Smith was a native and lifelong resident of Apalachicola. She was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith. She is survived by two sons, Gayle Smith of Apalachicola and Charles Smith of Carrabelle; one daughter, Jean Butler of Eastpoint; and a stepdaughter, Denise Burkett of Apalachicola; two brothers, Lealon Sowell of Panama City and Herbert Sowell of St. Augustine; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Joe Boy Smith. Visitation will be held today, Feb. 20, from 5 to 8 p.m. EST at Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 21, at 2 p.m. at Kelly Funeral Home with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery.

JUSTIN HOWARD STURGIS
Justin Howard Sturgis, 20, of Panama City Beach, Fla., died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at Bay Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at the St. Andrews State Recreation Area jetty pavilion at noon Friday, Feb. 22. Justin had been a resident of Panama City since 1990. Justin leaves to cherish his memory his mother and father, Robin Sturgis of Tallahassee, David Sturgis of Panama City; great-grandmother, Alice Watson of Federalsburg, Md.; grandparents, William and Carolyn Sturgis of Portsmouth, Va., and Norma Junker of Panama City; great-aunt and uncle, Gracelynn and Roger Steele of Anchorage, Ky., and Bud and Phyllis Junker of Santa Maria, Calif.; aunt and uncle, Linda Sturgis of Seattle, Wash., Kenneth Sturgis of Hampton, Va., Mary and Dennis Junker of Galion, Ohio, Sandy and David Junker of Panama City; cousins, Jason Junker of Virginia Beach, Va., Douglas Junker of Panama City and Shannan Knight of Panama City; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Suzanne R. Vick, 64, of Springfield, Fla., died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, in a local nursing home. She was a native of Kansas and had been living in Bay County for the past 45 years. Mrs. Vick is survived by her husband of 45 years, Shelby Vick of Springfield; two daughters, Diane Prather of Seaside, Fla., and Cheryl Good of Panama City; two grandchildren, Lauren and Brittany Good of Panama City; a brother, Landon T. Ross II of Havana, Fla.; numerous other relatives and many other friends in Fandom. Memorial services will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, in the banquet room of the Best Western Bayside Inn, 711 West Beach Drive, Panama City.

CARL CRAWFORD WEATHERS
Mr. Carl Crawford Weathers, 87, of 317 Springfield Ave., Panama City, died Sunday evening, Feb. 17, 2002, at his residence. He had been a resident of Bay County since 1933, moving here from Columbia, Ala. Mr. Weathers was a retired machine tender after 42 years from International Paper Co. He was a charter member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Mr. Weathers is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mildred Suggs Weathers; and daughter, Renee Carol Weathers. He is survived by one son, Carl Lamar Weathers; one daughter, Doris Bradford, both of Panama City; two sisters, Helen Jarrett of Panama City, Nell Carpenter and husband, Warren, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three grandchildren, Gaila Wallace and husband, Mike, of Youngstown, Karen Burleson of Panama City, and Andrea Richard and husband, Thomas, of Tampa; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services for Mr. Weathers will be conducted Friday, Feb. 22, at 10 a.m. in the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. R.C. Warren officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, Feb. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The following gentlemen will serve as active pallbearers: Fred Shoemaker, Willard Sellars, Greg Jenkins, Lloyd Warren, Charles Willis, Russell Willis and Mike Wallace. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Weathers' former co-workers at International Paper Co. and the senior members of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a hospice of choice in memory of Mr. Weathers.

CALLIE MAE BANNISTER
Funeral services for Callie Mae Bannister, 80, of Panama City, who died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, in a local hospital will be held today at 2 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Bryan officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers are Richard Bannister, Charlie Fischer, Ronnie Childs, Dustin Stokesberry, Ryan Stokesberry and James Fiser. The family will be at the home of Thomas Earl Bannister, 234 Allen Ave., Panama City.

ELOISE 'JACK' BRANNING
Eloise "Jack" Branning, 92, of Tampa, passed away peacefully on Feb. 17, 2002. Born in Blountstown (Calhoun County), she spent the greatest part of her adult years in Panama City and Pensacola. She is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Ernest Branning; son-in-law, Jerry Saltzman; her parents, Edward J. and Frances Davis; brothers, Ed and Ellis Davis; sisters, Emalyn McQuagge and Evelyn Anderson. She is survived by her only child, Susan Branning Saltzman of Tampa. In addition, she leaves behind her brother, Elbert Davis and his family; sisters-in-law, Birdie and Bertha Davis; nieces and nephews, whom she loved very dearly; five grandchildren, David Saltzman, Teri Saltzman, Cinnamon Webb and her husband, Kevin, Amber Saltzman and her son, Alexander Jade Saltzman, Brian Saltzman and his wife, Robin, with their five children; Summer Johnson and her husband, Christopher, Justin, Ryan, Aaron Mikal, and Christopher Solomon Saltzman. There will be no viewing. The graveside services will be held at Parker Cemetery in Panama City on Friday, Feb. 22, at noon. In lieu of flowers, we ask that a donation be made to Lifepath Hospice in Tampa.

Gloria Faye King Cobb, 66, passed away in her home in Slidell, La., on Feb. 19, 2002, after a 31/2-year battle with a brain tumor. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Billy J. Cobb; her daughter, Alyson Batten; two sons, Joseph and Douglas Cobb; two daughters-in-law, Lisa and JaNelle Cobb; and one son-in-law, Charles Batten. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Walter and Catherine King; and her sister, Margaret Scott. She is also survived by six granddaughters and one grandson. Mrs. Cobb was born in Springfield, Fla. Her formal education was completed with graduation from Bay County High School, class of 1953. Family and friends are invited to a viewing to be held today, Feb. 21, at 2:30 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home. Services will follow at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Due to her lifetime love for gardens and flowers, the family requests flowers be delivered to Wilson Funeral Home at 214 Airport Road.

Funeral services for Mr. Joseph L "J.L." Davis, 72, of Youngstown, who passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 21, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Johnnie Shipbaugh officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

MADELEINE MARIE EMMA GIRVIN HALFACRE
Madeleine Halfacre, 89, of Panama City Beach, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, in a local hospital. She had been a resident of Bay County since 1957, moving here from Inkster, Mich. Mrs. Halfacre was a motel and restaurant owner and retired from Hutchison Beach Elementary School, where she was in food service. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Panama City Beach and a past Royal Matron of the Order of the Amaranth in Panama City. Mrs. Halfacre was preceded in death by her loving husband, Veedie Halfacre. She is survived by her son, Bob Halfacre and his wife, Melba, of Gainesville, Fla.; her granddaughter, Pamela Halfacre Gregory; and her great-grandson, Jason Gregory, both of Panama City Beach; two grandsons, Kevin Halfacre and Kyle Halfacre and his wife, Cindy, all of Gainesville; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of First Methodist Church of Panama City, 903 E. Fourth St., with Brother David Warren and Brother Si Mathison, pastor emeritus, officiating. Mrs. Halfacre will be laid to rest beside her husband at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Southerland Funeral Home Friday, Feb. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mr. Charles House, 65, of Howard's Creek, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at a local hospital. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Mary Nell House of Howard's Creek; and a host of other family members and friends. JOE PROCK
Mr. Joe Prock, 79, of Sandy Creek, Fla., passed away, Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at a local hospital. He had been a resident of the area since 1995, coming here from Florence, Ala. Mr. Prock served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a veteran of World War II. He and his wife owned a flower shop in Memphis, Tenn., and he was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Memphis. Mr. Prock was an avid golfer and Protestant by faith. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. LaJuanna Graney and her husband, Tom, of Port St. Joe; a brother, Jack Prock of Sacramento, Calif.; and a sister, Patricia Link of Edmond, Okla. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mattie Prock; his wife, Juanita Prock; a daughter, Donna Jean Prock; and a son, Roddey Michael Prock. Services will be held at a later date at Memphis Memorial Park in Memphis, Tenn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
