Madeleine Halfacre, 89, of Panama City Beach, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, in a local hospital. A memorial service will be held today, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of First Methodist Church of Panama City, 903 E. Fourth St., with Brother David Warren and Brother Si Mathison, pastor emeritus, officiating. Mrs. Halfacre will be laid to rest beside her husband at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

Funeral services for Mrs. Grace Horton, 90, a devoted and beloved wife and mother, of Panama City, Fla., who went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Feb. 23, 2002, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Moore officiating.

Mr. Richard Lewis Owens, 52, of 201 W. 14th St., Lot 2, in Lynn Haven, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, in a local hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Owens will be held today, Feb. 23, at 11 a.m. in Greater Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. James Youmas, pastor, officiating. The remains will lie in state today from 9 a.m. until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home of Mr. Robert and Mrs. Geraldine Harvis, 2107 E. Eighth Court.

ROBERT L. 'SANDY' SANDERSON
Mr. Robert L. "Sandy" Sanderson, 66, of Panama City, passed away Friday, Feb. 21, 2002, at a local hospital. A native of Florence, Ala., he had been a resident of the area for 49 years. He served his country in the U.S. Navy for nine years and with the U.S. Air Force for four years, receiving several military honors. He also spent 18 years of volunteer service at Bay Medical Center. Mr. Sanderson was a member of Harry Jackson Masonic Lodge No. 314, a chaplain of the DAV, Chapter No. 17, and the chaplain of the Zollie Young Court No. 72 Amaranthas. He also was a member of First Assembly of God, the Young at Heart Ministries, and the Regeneration Prison Ministry. Mr. Sanderson is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary O'Dell Sanderson of Panama City; one daughter, Rikki Diann Hogberg and her husband, Jeff, of Panama City; three grandchildren, Bethany Stokes and her husband, Kyle, Robert Hogberg, all of Panama City, and Adam Hogberg of Orlando, Fla.; four brothers, Marvin Sanderson of Nashville, Tenn., Frank Sanderson of Norwood, Ohio, Lawrence Sanderson and his wife, Jean, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Dan Sanderson and his wife, Wanda, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a brother and sister-in-law, Hurtis and Louise Hicks of Panama City; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at the First Assembly of God Church with the Revs. Phil Edwards, William Andrews, and Hilton Foster officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Gary Scarbrough, Ron Chappell, Fred France, Jim Ward, Earl Alle, and Jim Thomas. Honorary pallbearers will include the members of the Amaranthas, the Young at Heart, and the Harry Jackson Masonic Lodge No. 314. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, Feb. 23, 2002, from 6 until 8 p.m. The family will be staying at the home of Mr. Sanderson's daughter, Rikki Hogberg, 706 Flight Ave., Panama City.

EDWARD STANLEY STEPIEN SR.
Mr. Edward Stanley Stepien Sr., 70, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at a local hospital. He had been a resident of the area since 1971, coming here from Goldsboro, N.C. Mr. Stepien served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 28 years and was Baptist by faith. He is survived by his loving and caring companion, Patricia Gilliand of Panama City; two daughters, Debra Warmack and her husband, Phillip, of Youngstown, and Shelia Davidson and her husband, Scot, of Newburgh, Ind.; a son, Edward S. Stepien Jr. of Callaway; and five grandchildren, Shannon Kelley, Matthew Warmack, Elizabeth Warmack, Rachel Davidson, and Caitlin Davidson. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. today, Feb. 23, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Randy Kuhn officiating. Interment will follow with full military honors conducted by Tyndall Air Force Base. The family will receive friends at Mr. Stepien's home, 131 Indian Summer Ave., Panama City, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. today, Feb. 23.

MILDRED O'BRYAN
Mrs. Mildred O'Bryan, age 96, of Altha, Fla., died Friday night, Feb. 22, 2002, at the Blountstown Health and Rehab Center in Blountstown. Mrs. O'Bryan was born on Oct. 26, 1905, in Fancy Prairie, Ill., and had lived in Calhoun County for most of her life. Mrs. O'Bryan retired from the Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, Fla., after many years of service. She was a homemaker and a member of the Altha Methodist Church. Mildred was preceded in death by two daughters, Sandra Williams and Bernice Johnson. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, G.W. (Buddy) and Gene O'Bryan of Blountstown, Fla., Don A. (Sonny) and Linda O'Bryan of Blountstown, Fla.; one daughter, Pauline Branton, of Altha, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at 10 a.m. (CST) at the Peavy Funeral Home Chapel with Bryan Williams and the Rev. Paul Griffin officiating. Interment will follow in the O'Bryan family cemetery at Sunny Hill. The family will receive friends today, Feb. 24, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m. (CST) at the Peavy Funeral Home. All arrangements are under the direction of the Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown.

Mrs. Lola Bell Henson, of Panama City, passed away Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at a local hospital. Mrs. Henson will be taken to the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Birmingham, Ala. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville, Ala.

ALMA E. WILLIAMS WARFFELI
Mrs. Alma E. Williams Warffeli, of 723 S. Hwy. 22-A, Panama City, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at her residence. She was a lifelong resident of Bay County. Mrs. Warffeli was a waitress and homemaker. She also worked in the Parker School lunch room as a supervisor and worked at the shipyard during WWII. Mrs. Warffeli is preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Claude Williams; two sons, Charlie Basil Williams and Vernon Lawson Williams; grandson, Vernon Ray Williams; and great-granddaughter, Summer Laurita. She is survived by her husband, J.D. Warffeli, of Panama City; two sons, Thomas Emory Williams and wife, Dorothy, and Wayne Horace Williams, all of Panama City; one sister, Lucille Ecker of Palatka, Fla., loving niece, Eunice Strickland of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister-in-law, Fern Bobzien of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and brother-in-law, Dale Warffeli, of Colorado; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and twenty-two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Warffeli will be conducted Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at 2 p.m. in the First Church of God of Panama City with the Rev. Bill Carpenter officiating. The family will receive friends this afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Life Outreach International in memory of Mrs. Warffeli.

JENNIE BRUNDAGE ALEXANDER
Jennie Brundage Alexander, devoted widow of the late Hugh Alexander and beloved stepmother of three daughters and nine grandchildren, died peacefully on her 95th birthday, Feb. 21, 2002. She was a longtime resident of Lynn Haven, having been born and reared in Evergreen, Ala. Mrs. Alexander spent most of her adult life working in the main bank of Milton, Fla., and as the City Clerk for the City of Lynn Haven, Fla. The family would like to express their gratitude to Covenant Hospice and the staff of St. Andrews Nursing Home for their loving attention to Jennie. A graveside service in the Lynn Haven Cemetery is planned for her surviving family and friends on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at 1:30 p.m. with Southerland Family Funeral Home conducting the funeral arrangements.

KINTON HALL SR.
Kinton Hall Sr., 77, of 906 Mulberry Ave., Panama City, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, in his home. He was a retired technical sergeant in the U.S. Air Force where he served during World War II, Vietnam and the Korean War. He had been a resident of Panama City since 1963, moving here from Georgia. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Roxanne Hall. He is survived by four children, Kinton Hall Jr., Karen Horne, Karil Sveum, Kristy Watson; five grandchildren, Shawn Long, Rene Hall, Chanci Smith, Van Watson, Eric Watson; great-granddaughter, Hailey Long, all of Panama City; and brother, Winton Hall. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Barton officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 to 5 p.m. today.

HAROLD NEWBERRY
Harold Newberry, 80, of Panama City Beach, passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, in a local hospital. Mr. Newberry moved to Panama City Beach 22 years ago from Birmingham, Ala., after 45 years of service with Allison-Campbell and Carborundum Corp. Upon retirement he and his wife traveled extensively. He was an avid golfer and loved the beach. He is survived by his wife, Freda Newberry; three sons, Richard Newberry, Dan Newberry and Shean Newberry, all of Panama City Beach; two daughters, Joni Owens and husband, Randy, of Cummings, Ga., and Rhonda James of Pacifica, Calif.; also two grandsons, Andrew Booker and William Booker, both of Cummings, Ga. Memorialization will be by cremation.
