Mrs. Anna "Ann" Jenkins, 70, of Lynn Haven, Fla., passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at a local hospital. She had been a resident of the area since 1972, coming here from Water Valley, Miss. Mrs. Jenkins was a member of the Jenks Avenue Church of Christ. She also enjoyed sewing and gardening. Mrs. Jenkins is survived by her husband of 53 years, Harold Jenkins Sr. of Lynn Haven, Fla.; a daughter, Gay Williams and her husband, Eddie, of Miami, Fla.; three sons, William H. Jenkins and his wife, Linda, of Perry, Fla., Harold A. Jenkins Jr. and his wife, Valerie, of Panama City, Fla., and Michael Jenkins and his wife, Julie, of Tampa, Fla.; brothers, James Gay Jr. and his wife, Peggy, of Philadelphia, Miss., and Robert Gay and his wife, Linda, of Charleston, S.C.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Tutor; son-in-law, Louis H. Tutor; and a grandson, Chris Jenkins. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2002, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Mrs. Jenkins' son, the Rev. Bill Jenkins, and the Rev. Bobby Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Mrs. Jenkins' grandsons, a nephew, and a very close friend. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, April 17, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m.

LOUISE EDNA PERRY LOWTHER
Mrs. Louise Edna Perry Lowther went to be with the Lord, Monday, April 15, 2002. She passed away at the home of her daughter in Rhinehart, La., after a lengthy illness. She was a resident of 8812 Resota Beach Road, Panama City, Fla. Mrs. Lowther was born March 11, 1924, in Waynesburg, Pa. She retired from Bay Medical Center in 1986 as emergency room supervisor. She was a graduate of Western Pennsylvania School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, Pa., in 1944. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Jessie McClelland Perry; her husband, William K. "Bill" Lowther; her sister, Ruth Elizabeth Perry Joyce; her daughter, Linda Louise Lowther Bullock; and a grandson, Robert K. "Bobby" Guinn Jr. Mrs. Lowther is survived by her daughter, Roberta Lowther Guinn and her husband, Robert, of Rhinehart, La.; a special nephew, Charles Perry and his wife, Janet, of Fort Recovery, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Gladys Macks Ali and her husband, Al, of Panama City, Fla.; a son-in-law, Julian Bullock and his wife, Linda, of Panama City, Fla.; four grandchildren, William Michael Bullock and his wife, Patty, of Atlanta, Ga., Rebecca Bullock Lathroum and her husband, Richard, of Stone Mountain, Ga., Christina Guinn Level and her husband, Tim, of Ocean Springs, Miss., and Kathryn Guinn Young and her husband, Troy, of St. Robert, Mo.; one great-grandson, Luke Mathew Young of Missouri; a stepgreat-granddaughter, Laura Level of Mississippi; and five other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2002, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Robert Hayes officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday, April 18, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Lung Association, Volunteers of America, P.O. HATTIE MAE RAY
Mrs. Hattie Mae Ray, 96, of 1115 Louisiana Ave., died April 10, 2002, at Bay Medical Center. Funeral services for Mrs. Ray will be held today, April 17, in Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Cloy, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. The remains will lie in state at the church today from 10 a.m. until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thelma Ray Jennings and her husband, Mr. Roscoe Jennings, 1115 Louisiana Ave.

E.H. STRICKLAND
E.H. Strickland, 91, passed away April 15, 2002, at his home in Bristol, Fla. He was owner/operator of Strickland's Ace Hardware and I.G.A. Store. Mr. Strickland was a lifetime resident of Liberty County. He was a member of the Bristol Pentecostal Holiness Church of Bristol where he served many years as deacon, Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, on the board of trustees and was honored and recognized as deacon emeritus. He served as one of the first city councilmen of Bristol after its incorporation as a city, served also as city councilman chairman, and was instrumental in helping secure the first public water system in Bristol and Liberty County. He was a charter member of the Bristol Lions Club and The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce, of which he also served as director and chairman. He was very desirous of securing and helping many businesses come to Bristol and Liberty County. He was also a member of the Liberty County Farm Bureau and served as director and chairman. He was a past president of the Southern Retail Hardware Association and operated the second oldest Ace Hardware in Florida. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. EDT Thursday, April 18, at Bristol Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow in Lake Mystic Cemetery. Visitation will be held today, April 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. EDT at McClellan Funeral Home in Bristol. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years in January of this year, Mrs. Edith C. Strickland. He is survived by two daughters, Mildred S. Goodson and Sandra S. Willis, both of Bristol; six grandchildren, Gred Willis, Mitch Willis, Sandee Tanner and Edie Bateman all of Bristol; Al Willis and Tracy Wood of Blountstown; and 13 great-great-grandchildren, Trey, Lauren and Lana Wood, Jamie Jane and Jodi Willis, Kristen, Chelsea and Clary Bateman, Alex and Peggy Hanks, Paige and Ryan Willis. He served on the District II-Welfare Board, Florida Department of Public Welfare. McClellan Funeral Home, Bristol, is in charge of arrangements, 850-643-3636.

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Tucker, 91, of Mathison Retirement Center, Panama City, died April 15, 2002, in a local nursing home. She had been a resident of Bay County since 1988, coming here from Bremen, Ind. She was a homemaker and a member of Grace Presbyterian Church. For many years, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Bremen, Indiana Lodge, where she served as Worthy Matron. Locally she was active with the Newcomers Club. She was an avid bridge player and a great quilter. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and loyal friend. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas J. and Jean H. Tucker of Panama City, Fla; a granddaughter, Liesel Tucker French, M.D., and her husband, Will, of Birmingham, Ala; and a grandson, Thomas J. Tucker Jr. of Chicago, Ill; and three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ruth Wagner of Franklin, Ind., Mrs. Lavonne Tucker of Bremen, Ind., and Mrs. Mable Tucker of LaPorte, Texas. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 18, 2002, at 10 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Tucker, 939 W. Caroline Blvd., Panama City, Fla., today, April 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. All friends, neighbors, and relatives are invited. Mrs. Mary L. Windham, 70, of Southport, Fla., passed away Monday, April 15, 2002, at a local hospital. She had been a resident of this area for 20 years, having moved here from Indiana . Mrs. Windham is survived by her sister, Dorothy Bauer of Evansville, Ind.; a brother, Charles Splittorff of Kokomo, Ind.; and a special friend, Lorraine M. Beck of Panama City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley D. Windham; two brothers, Clarence Splittorff and Robert Splifforff; and two sisters, Helen Peerman and Roberta Splittorff. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Interment will follow.

Catherine Redman Daffinson, age 40, of 1903 Hickory Ave., Panama City, Fla., passed away Friday, April 19, 2002, at her home. She had been a resident of Bay County since 1967, coming here from New York. Catherine is survived by her father, Steve Redman, and her mother, Joan Redman, both of Panama City, Fla.; a daughter, Sarah Whaler and her husband, Tim, of Panama City, Fla.; and two sons, Shane Daffinson and Cody Daffinson, both of Panama City, Fla. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2002, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mr. Earl Mirus officiating. MICHAEL HAWKINS CARTWRIGHT SR.
Dr. Michael Hawkins Cartwright Sr., 62, of Panama City, died peacefully at his home April 16, 2002. He was a psychologist in private practice at Bay Family and Child Center and a professor at both Troy State and Florida State universities. Born in Toledo, Ohio, he moved to Panama City in 1974. He served in the U.S. Army. He coached youth and junior major league baseball at R.L. Turner and Rhett Borland fields. He was the first president of Bay County AHA Mended Hearts. He is survived by his devoted wife, Georga; daughter, Kelly Cartwright David and her husband, Andrew; and son, Michael Cartwright Jr., all of Panama City; beloved grandson, Kadym Cartwright of Palm Harbor; mother, Wilma Klein of Ann Arbor, Mich.; adoptive mother, Melva Cartwright of Hillsboro Beach; sisters, Patricia Guzik and her husband, Roy, of Poway, Calif., Nancy Klein of Ann Arbor, Mich.; brothers, Robert Klein Jr. of Ann Arbor, and Steven Klein of Toledo, Ohio; cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Hawkins; and adoptive father, Charles E. Cartwright Jr. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Heart Association. Plans for a memorial service will be announced at a later time.

Mrs. Eva F. Hiers, 68, of Panama City, Fla., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 19, 2002, at her residence. She had been a resident of the area since 1940, coming here from Florala, Ala. Mrs. Hiers was one of the 13 original members of Springfield Community Church. She was the manager of The Helping Hand Store of Springfield Community Church. Mrs. Hiers enjoyed gardening and flowers. She devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Hiers is survived by her four sons, Johnnie R. Hiers, Ricky Hiers and his wife, Lynn, Jerry M. Hiers and his wife, Cathy, and Charles G. Hiers and his wife, Cheryl, all of Panama City; daughters, Joyce H. Richmond and her husband, Tim, and Debbie Bush and her husband, Bruce, all of Panama City; her mother, Bertha Knowles of Palatka, Fla.; a very special sister, Opal J. Stone of Jacksonville, Fla.; sisters, Evelyn Cone of Jacksonville, Fla., and Carolyn Tucker of Pensacola, Fla.; brothers, Ibra Ward Jr. and his wife, Joan, of Palatka, Fla., and Julian Steve Ward and his wife, Joyce, of Pensacola; grandsons, Chris and his wife, Lori, Tony, Joshua, Kevin and his wife, Wendy, Jerrad, Rick Likas, Brad Hiers, Tracy Kirkland and his wife, Regina, Aaron Richmond and Terry Miers and his wife, Tiffany; granddaughters, Leah Hiers, Danielle Likas, Jessica Steele and her husband, Clay, Sherry Veal, Sandy Gay and her husband, Wayne, and Amy Bush; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, John Hiers; and her grandson, Phillip Hiers.
