Mother Gussie Stanley, 85, a native of Climax, Ga., and a lifelong resident of Panama City, Fla., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 23, 2002. She was saved at an early age and was a longstanding member of Neal Temple FBC of the Living God. She attended faithfully until her health failed. She was a prayer warrior and enjoyed playing the cymbals. She leaves to cherish her memory three loving daughters, Queen Spriggs and Willie Teresa Rutherford, both of Atlanta, Ga., and Maudene Margie Kelly (James) of Panama City; two special nieces, Helen Campbell (Floyd) and Bridget Jackson, both of Atlanta; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services for Gussie Stanley will be held on Monday, April 29, at 1 p.m. in Neal Temple FBC with Bishop S.J. Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Public visitation will be today from 1 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. The remains will lie in state one hour before the services begin at the church.

DAVID DUANE WEST JR.
David Duane West Jr., 15, of Southport, Fla., died Friday, April 26, 2002, as a result of an automobile accident. He had been a resident of Southport since November 2001, moving here from Indiana . He was in the ninth grade at Mosley High School. He is survived by his mother, Cheryl Ann Mason, and her husband, Paul Garrettson Jr.; father, David Dewayne West; two sisters, Dawn Cozad, Stephanie Smith; brother, Paul Garrettson III; grandparents, Duane and Barbara Mason, Paul Garrettson Sr.; great-grandmother, Lucille Kelly. Funeral services will be held at a later date in Huntington, Ind., with the Hart Funeral Home conducting. Interment will be in the Lindlewood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Ind. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to help offset the funeral expenses.

Funeral services for Mrs. Zora Humphries of Panama City, Fla., will be conducted today, April 29, 2002, at 10 a.m. in the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Darwin Glass officiating. Interment will follow in the Callaway Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as active pallbearers: Lynn Wood Shifflett, Herman Tatum, Willard Kelly, Tommy Burkett, Bobby Kelly and James Glass. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff and volunteers of the Bay County Council on Aging.

ISAAC A. MATHIS JR.
Mr. Isaac A. Mathis Jr., 68, of Callaway, Fla., died Friday, April 26, 2002, in a local nursing home. Born in Washington County, Fla., he was a lifelong resident of this area and a retired truck driver who played bingo in Bay County for many years. Mr. Mathis is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister. He is survived by one son, Ronald E. Mathis, of Panama City; one stepson and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Olin McQuage, of Southport; one brother, Brown T. "Bill" Mathis of Howards Creek; one sister-in-law, Betty Mathis of Graceville, Fla.; nieces and nephews, Mr. and Mrs. R. Paul Mathis, Terry Mathis, Colla Ard and wife, Melba, of Panama City, Patricia Moore and husband, Jimmy, of Panama City Beach, Donna Sue Mathis of Howards Creek; companion, Betty Bushmeyer along with her family and other family members. Funeral services for Mr. Mathis will be conducted Tuesday, April 30, 2002, at 10 a.m. in the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Homer Hutto officiating. Interment will follow in the Rockhill Cemetery in Chipley, Fla. Asked to serve as pall bearers are Eddie Hazard, George Barfield, Robert Pickles, Larry Barnes, Larry Ivey and Emerson Miller. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

ZACKARY VINCENT MOSS
Mr. Zackary Vincent "Zack" Moss, 8, of Callaway, Fla., died Saturday, April 27, 2002. Born in Panama City on September 2, 1993, he was a lifelong resident of this area and attended Mrs. McDaniel's second grade class at St. Andrew Elementary School. Zack is survived by his mother, Debra Moss; three brothers, Adam Muster, Michael Adams and Jerry Moss; and one sister, Brooke VanCleve. Graveside services for Zack will be conducted on Wednesday, May 1, 2002, at 10 a.m. in the Callaway Cemetery. Interment will follow.

ROBERT W. 'BOB' PRICE
Robert W. "Bob" Price, age 75, of Panama City, died April 27, 2002, at his residence. He was born in Bunnell, Fla., and had lived in Panama City since 1995, moving here from Tampa. Mr. Price was a retired Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, a member of the Harry Jackson Masonic Lodge No. 314, the Scottish Rite Valley of Panama City, and a member of the Shaddai Shrine Temple, where he was active in the characters unit. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Virginia "Betty" Price; two sons, Robert H. Price and wife, Susan, of Valrico, Fla., and Mark L. Price and wife, Gina, of Tampa, Fla.; two daughters, Sharon Arnold and husband, Dave, of Summerville, S.C., and Helain Williams of Tampa, Fla.; four sisters, Madeline Funchess and husband, Aubrey, of Lynn Haven, Carol Ouimette and husband, John, of Blairsville, Ga., Sue Ann Mitchell and husband, Dave, of Panama City and Faye Helms and husband, Jim, of Bonifay; five grandchildren, Heather King of Summerville, S.C., Shawn Kennedy and Ashley Poyntz, both of Brandon, Fla., Jasmin Price of Clearwater and Olivia Williams of Fort Lauderdale; five great-grandchildren, Christopher, Natalie, and Shaylynn King, of Summerville, S.C., and Dylan Kennedy and Zachary Williams, both of Brandon, Fla. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2002, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Si Mathison officiating. Interment with full military honors and Masonic Rites at graveside will follow from Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The United States Air Force Honor Guard from Tyndall Air Force Base will serve as active pallbearers. Asked to serve as honorary pallbearers will be members of the Harry Jackson Masonic Lodge and the Shaddai Shrine Temple. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, April 30, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m. When we, his sons, daughters, sisters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and devoted wife remember him, it will always be for his big heart and how great his love was. He had a disarming and engaging ability to laugh at himself. He had remarkable patience, compassion, and thoughtfulness. These virtuous inner qualities followed him all these years, and will continue in the lives he has left behind. Truly he will be missed but never forgotten. A person so kindhearted will always be remembered for the creative and generous way he lived. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Bruce Josten and his staff for their wonderful care.

PENNEY MAE DONOHOE
Mrs. Penney Mae Donohoe, 73, of Callaway, Fla., passed away Monday, April 29, 2002, at a local nursing facility following an extended illness. She was born June 23, 1928, in Edenton, N.C. Mrs. Donohoe was a homemaker, attended the First Baptist Church of Callaway, and a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Robert M. Donohoe of Panama City; three daughters, Shirley Ann Dunaway of South Carolina, Catharine Hicks and her special friend Lamar of Bayou George, Fla., and Gail Perry and her husband Keith of Bayou George; a son, Daniel Gilbert of Panama City; five stepsons, John Donohoe of Mooresville, N.C., Mike Donohoe and his wife Connie of Tallahassee, Fla., Joe Donohoe and his wife Theresa of Littleton, Colo., Daniel Donohoe of Atlanta, Ga., and Jimmy Donohoe and his wife Krista of Pace, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Mary Corder and her husband Bob of Orange Park Fla.; a sister, Roxie Hollowell of Edenton, N.C.; a brother, Frank Spruill of Edenton, N.C.; a granddaughter, Destini Perry of Panama City; 19 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 2 at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Robbins and Dr. Luther Johnson officiating. Entombment will follow at Garden of Memories. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, May 1, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m.

NELLIE SANDERS JACKSON
Nellie Sanders Jackson, 91 of Panama City, died Monday, April 29, 2002, in a local nursing home. She had been a resident of Bay County since 1950 moving here from Macon, Ga. She was the owner of Jackson's Nursery for 40 years. She was a member of St. Andrews Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Willie Jackson. She is survived by a son, Bobby Gene Jackson and his wife, Elaine of Port St. Joe; daughter, Dorothy Ann Steverson and her husband, Ralph of Orlando; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Andrews Primitive Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m.

Roland Morris Schoelles, 76, of Apalachicola, Fla., died April 28, 2002, at Weems memorial Hospital in Apalachicola, Fla. Mr. Schoelles was a native of Jacksonville, Fla., living all of his life in Apalachicola. He retired from the State of Florida, Department of Agriculture where he was a livestock inspector for 38 years. He retired from the Florida National Guard after 35 years of service, a Naval veteran of World War II, past Commander of the Apalachicola American Legion, member of the First United Methodist Church in Apalachicola. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Nonie Schoelles of Apalachicola; son, Roland Schoelles of Apalachicola; two stepsons, Dennis Crosby of Apalachicola, Butch Taylor of Carrabelle; a brother, Orin Schoelles of Mexico Beach; three grandchildren, Kevin Schoelles, Casey Crosby, and Emily Crosby. Funeral services with military honors will be held Wednesday, May 1 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Apalachicola, interment vill follow in Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Kelley Funeral Home in Apalachicola. In lieu of flowers make donations to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 476, Apalachicola, Fla. 32329.
