Seth-David Denniston Auld was a caring soul. Our youngest brother was ever loyal to those near and dear to him. His departure shall leave a void in the lives of everyone who knew him.
A kind and loving son, brother and friend to: Joanne, Burt, Lee, Joey, Janey, Mike, Marsha, Christine, Jim; will bear the weight of his tragic loss.
Seth left us all much too early, but his memory will remain in our hearts and minds forever. We love him so.

Harry E. Green
Harry E. Green, 77, of Yulee passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends. He went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004.
He was the son of the late Roy and Lucretia Green of Brunswick, Ga. Harry owned several businesses and was a founding member of Yulee Little League in the 1950s as well as the Yulee Senior Citizens in 1989. He worked at Rayonier for over 44 years before retiring in 1989. Harry will be remembered as someone who was always willing to help those in need.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 39 years, Merrylene, and 11 children: Mike (Pat), Beaufort, S.C., Wayne (Diane), St. Marys, Ga., Sandra Smith, Yulee, Marsha (Cecil) Mitchell, Brunswick, Ga., Kathy (George) Silva, Fern, Dennis (Kim) Cartersville, Ga., Johnny Nelson, Yulee, Margaret (Barney) Bell, Decatur, Tenn., Ronnie (Lizzie) Nelson, Fern, Pat (Jeff) Reed, Hilliard, and Harry E. Green Jr., Yulee; 28 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; a brother, Roy Green of Brunswick, Ga.; and a sister, Roberta Louke of Virginia.
Harry was preceded in death by: his two previous wives, Margaret and Willie Aline; a daughter, Marilyn Patricia; sister, Estelle; and three brothers, Bill, Ernest and Mitch; and other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6-8 p.m. at Oxley-Heard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Tom Keisler at Yulee Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment will follow in Hughes Cemetery
in Yulee.

Strickland, Mattie Lucille Chewning
Mattie Lucille Chewning Strickland, 80, of Macclenny, Fla., formerly of Fernandina Beach, passed away July 23, 2003, at Frank Wells Nursing Home in Macclenny. A native of Dawson, Ga., Mrs. Strickland resided on Clinch Drive in Fernandina from 1953 until relocating to Macclenny in 1989. She worked as a homemaker for most of her life, having worked as a short order cook at local restaurants. She was a lifelong member of the Baptist faith and loved sewing and quilting. She cherished quoting and writing poetry and songs, which she kept in her Bible, and reminded her family of them often. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She always had a strong faith in the Lord and loved reading scripture and often made reference to it.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, James Odas Strickland, in June 2002. Survivors include a son, Larry Strickland Sr. of Macclenny; three daughters, Daphine Willey of Atlantic Beach, Fla., Cordelia Austin of Fernandina Beach, and Yvonne Crews of Hortense, Ga.; five brothers, Fred Chewning of Homerville, Ga., and Jessse, Chester, Floyd and Carlton Chewning, all of Jacksonville, Fla.,; three sisters, Dean Seagle of Panama City, Fla., Mildred Taylor and Linda Chewning, both of Jacksonville; 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 6-8p.m. at Oxley-Heard Funeral Home in Fernandina. Benk, Eugene
Eugene Benk, 83, of Fernandina Beach passed away Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, at his home. A native of Niagara Falls, N.Y., Mr. Benk had previously resided in Bricktown, N.J. for the past 42 years before relocating to Fernandina Beach in April 2002. He was a career military officer who served in the United States Navy during World War II and later during the Korean War, being honorably discharged as Senior Chief Petty Officer in the fall of 1963. Following his military service, he worked as an engineer for Frequency Engineering in Farmingdale, N.J., for a number of years before retiring in 1983. Mr. Benk was a lifelong member of the Catholic faith and member of the V.F.W. Post in Bricktown, N.J. Throughout his life he always loved working on many project inside and outside the house such as repairing and building things. Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Kathleen M. Benk of Fernandina; son, Mark Eugene Benk of Boiling Springs Lake, N.C.; two daughters, Christine B. Alzanauer of Fernandina Beach and Geraldine Dadd of Emerald Isle, N.C.; brother, Zigmunt Benk of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A memorial service with military honors will be held at a later date.

Fout, Raymond "Herman"
Raymond "Herman" Fout, 71, of Fernandina Beach passed away Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville. A lifelong resident of Fernandina Beach, Mr. Fout was employed in the meat department of Pantry Pride for many years, also working as a meat cutter at N.A.S. Jacksonville Cecil Field Air Station. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1954. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran faith and a longtime member of American Legion Post #4351, the local V.F.W. and was active in the Brickyard Hunting Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna "Miss Annie" Fout, on Oct. 4, 1997. Survivors include his daughter, Brenda A. (Terry) Franks of Fernandina Beach, granddaughter Fame C. Herring and great-granddaughter Chloe Anne Cone. The family received friends on Monday from 5-7 p.m. at Oxley-Heard Funeral Home. Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard with the Rev. Ray Ramsburg, pastor of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, officiating. Grace, D. Glynn
D. Glynn Grace, 69, of Fernandina Beach passed away Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at home. A native of Electra, Texas, he moved to this area in 1966 from Wichita Falls, Texas. He served in the U. S. Navy and was a self-employed truck driver. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan for many years. Survivors include his wife: Ann G. Grace of Fernandina Beach; daughters, Glynda (Thomas) Nolan of Jacksonville and Mindy Smith of Waverly, Ga.; sister, Freda Trapani of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Jensen, Raymond E. "Ray"
Raymond E. "Ray" Jensen, 74, of Fernandina Beach passed away Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, in St. Petersburg. A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Einer Jensen and had resided in Nassau County since 1977, when he relocated from New Jersey. Mr. Jensen was a millwright and worked in construction and maintenance for many years, especially at the paper mills in this area. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, and then joined the United States Merchant Marines for the next 25 years. Mr. Jensen was a member of the American Legion and was a Catholic. Survivors include his children: John Richard (Ann) Jensen of Prattville, Ala., and William (Kim) Jensen of Yulee; grandchildren Aaron Jensen and Meagan Jensen; three brothers, James Jensen of Valhalla, N.Y., Einer Jensen of St. James, N.Y., and Stewart Jensen of Bayside, N.Y.; and a sister, Carmen Ciccaralo of Queens, N.Y. Funeral services were held today at 11 a.m. in Hughes Cemetery, Yulee, with Pastor Perry Fruscella of First Coast Christian Church officiating. military honors were presented for Mr. Jensen. Johnson, Samuel "Pete"
Samuel "Pete" Johnson, 83, of Yulee passed away Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at Baptist Medical Center Nassau. Born in Georgia, he moved to Yulee in 1972 from Duval County. He was a small business owner in Oceanway for many years, and enjoyed farming and caring for his family. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Survivors include his son: Samuel E. (Kathy) Johnson of Hilliard; daughters Phyllis (Brian) Hessenauer and Dorothy Dell Hodges, both of Yulee; sister Mary (Frank) Harrison of Middleburg; grandchildren Karen (Mark) Davis, Sammy (Debbie) Johnson, Stacey (Scotty) Wade, Dyane Johnson, Aaron (Tara) Johnson, Angela Pinkston and Nathan Hodges; and great-grandchildren Duncan, Tiffany and Brett Davis, Garrett, Heather and Aaron Wade, Ivan Pinkston and Emma Johnson. O'Quinn, Jesse W.
Jesse W. O'Quinn, 84, of Fernandina Beach passed away Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at Shands Hospital in Jacksonville. He retired after 22 years with the city of Fernandina Beach. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Normandy, Northern France and the Rhineland, where he received the Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with three Bronze Stars with the 28th Infantry Division. He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ruth O'Quinn; a daughter, Kathy (John) Lyle of Yulee; and a son, Johnny (Brenda) O'Quinn of Fernandina Beach. He is also survived by six sisters: Eula Mae Stevens, Mary Lou Turner, Lorrine Turner, Betty Johns, Mildred Daniels and Dorothy Daniels; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The family received friends Wednesday, Nov. 12 at Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston, Ga. Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Shepard Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Williams Johns officiating. Interment was in Bachlott Cemetery.

Peacock, Eva Ann Caldwell
Evan Ann Caldwell Peacock, 61, went home to be with the Lord at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was born in Jacksonville and was a life-long area resident. She worked as a school bus driver in Duval and Nassau County for many years. She was a member of Celebration Baptist Church in Yulee. She was an avid bowler and coached girls' softball for more than 20 years. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Gail Peacock. Survivors include her husband, Verlin O. Peacock Sr. of Yulee; son, Verlin O. "Buddy" Peacock of Lake Asbury; daughters, Debbie (Ricky) Dow and Joyce (Tommy) Peterson, both of Yulee; brothers, Jimmy Caldwell of Jacksonville and Ronnie Caldwell of Ocala; grandchildren, Ricky and Rika Dow, Angela and Ryan Mosley and Julie and Justin Peterson; and great-grandsons, Rhett and Rafe Dow. Bruce M. Bowers
Bruce M. Bowers, 69, Ocean Mist Drive, Fernandina Beach, husband of Sandi N. Bowers, passed away Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, at his residence.
A native of Oswego, Wis., he was the son of the late Allen and Gertrude Bowers and had resided on Amelia Island since 1993. Mr. Bowers was a retired engineer and construction manager for the Anheuser-Busch company in St. Louis, Mo.
He received his education at Auburn University and was an avid War Eagle. Mr. Bowers was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Fernandina Beach and the Fernandina Beach Men's Golf Association, where he was very active. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include: his wife, Sandi N. Bowers, Fernandina Beach; his children, John Mark Eklund, Jacksonville, Melissa Holman, Columbus, Ga., and Susan Stanley, Fernandina Beach; and his grandchildren, Kennan Ducey, Michael Holman, and Brent Bowers, of Columbus, Ga., and David Stanley, Joshua Stanley and Kathryn Stanley of Fernandina Beach.
A celebration of life for Mr. Bowers will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church of Fernandina Beach with the Rev. Dr. Conrad T. Sharps, pastor, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Bowers' name to the charity of one's own choosing.
William Jesse Ford
Mr. William Jesse Ford of Lake View, S.C., died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2004, at Saint Eugene Medical Center after an illness. He was 90 years old.
Mr. Ford was born in Dillon County, S.C. He was the son of the late William Jesse and Nettie Shooter Ford.
Mr. W. Jesse will be remembered for his many civic interests, including Mayor of Lake View, S.C., for seven terms, local magistrate, member of the Dillon County Board of Education, Civil Defense Director of Dillon County and member of the House of Representatives.
He worked as a tobacco farmer, land surveyor and realtor. He retired from Carmichael Oil Company.
W. Jesse leaves a large family from many areas of North and South Carolina. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Lake View, S.C.
Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Isla Frances Edwards Ford of the home; two sons, William Jesse (Mary Sue) Ford Jr. of Dillon, S.C., and Colon Mason Edwards Ford of Florence; three daughters, Florinette Ford (Jimmy) Renfrow of Lake View, S.C., Isla Frances Ford (Arthur) Graham of Camden, S.C., and Rebecca Ford (Jesse) Duke of Fernandina Beach; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Burns of Fairmont, N.C.; 17 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Oct. 11, with interment in Lake View Perpetual Cemetery

Gilbert Leavy
Gilbert Leavy lived from March 7, 1923, until Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004.
Mr. Leavy was born in Philadelphia, Pa., where he grew up with his parents and two sisters. Mr. Leavy worked hard all of his life, beginning as a newspaper delivery boy and working in the soda fountain of a drug store after school. At age 17, Mr. Leavy enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served 20 years in the U.S. Navy, being stationed on battle ships and many different aircraft carriers.
Mr. Leavy fought bravely during World War II and the Korean War and received numerous medals for his performance. He was proud to serve his country during both war and peaceful times.
Following his retirement from the U.S. Navy, Mr. Leavy was employed by the Martin-Marietta Company Aerospace Division in Orlando and Baltimore, Md. His work consisted of the development and implementation of guided missile systems to be used aboard U.S. naval vessels.
Mr. Leavy received a U.S. Navy national award for his significant contribution to the development of the Vertical Launch Missile System. That system is now being used aboard U.S. naval ships and enhances our country's defense capabilities around the world.
In addition to his many professional accomplishments, Mr. Leavy was a "jack of all trades." He was skilled in automotive repair, woodworking, and home maintenance of any type.
Mr. Leavy moved to Fernandina Beach in 1986. He enjoyed playing golf and fishing. He spent a large amount of time caring for and playing with his grandchildren, Thomas and Jillian Leavy Steele. He was a loving, understanding and generous husband, father and grandfather.
Gilbert Leavy is survived by his devoted wife, Delphine, with whom he shared 59 beautiful years. He is also survived by his son, Thomas Leavy, daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Leavy and John Steele, and his grandchildren, Jodi Elnicki and Thomas and Jillian Leavy Steele, all of whom love him dearly and will miss him daily. He will also be missed by all of those people whose lives he touched in so many wonderful ways.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the Green Pine Funeral Home, 96281 Green Pine Road in Yulee. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael's Catholic Church followed by entombment at Green Pine Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations to be made either to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
Darlington, Nadine Jo Ann
Nadine Jo Ann Darlington, 71, a native and lifelong resident of Yulee, passed away Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville. During her career Mrs. Darlington was employed as a housekeeping supervisor for the Jacksonville Zoological Gardens for more than 30 years. She was a longtime member of the Blackrock Baptist Church. Throughout her life she was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 40 years, Richard Franklin Darlington, on Oct. 5, 1992.
Survivors include her three sons, John (Ruth) Darlington and Ira Darlington, both of Fernandina Beach, and Richard Darlington of Yulee; two daughters, Nancy (Freddy) Arnett of Yulee and Lu Ann (Al) Smith of Fernandina Beach; a brother, Jack McKendrees (Betty Shaw) of Fernandina; a sister, Edna (Bennie) McClellan of Fernandina Beach; 11 grandchildren, Christy, Erika, Mandy, Richard, Kelly, Casey, John, Katie, Jonathan, Jessica and Carrie; and by five great-grandchildren, Kailey, Madisyn, Ritchie, Samantha and Brayden.
Graveside funeral services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. in Hughes Cemetery
with the Rev Frank Camarotti, pastor of Blackrock Baptist Church, officiating.

Jeffery Scott Fair, 47, of Fernandina Beach passed away Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at Shands Medical Center in Jacksonville following a lengthy illness. A native of Gainesville, Ga., he had resided in Fernandina for several years. He was preceded in death by his father, George Phillip Fair, in October of 2002.
Survivors include his mother, John H. Fair of Fernandina Beach; two sons, Jeremy S. Fair and Jameison S. Fair, both of Gainesville, Ga.; a daughter, Flara Fair of Jacksonville; two brothers, Kim H. Fair of Jacksonville and Nick A. Fair of Fernandina Beach; a sister, Bunie Fair of Jacksonville; and one grandchild, Kelby Fair.
