Robert W. Allbritton
Robert W. Allbritton, age 76, passed away on May 21, 2003, in Blairsville, GA. He was born in Wachula, FL and came to Fort Pierce as a child from Wachula. He moved to Blairsville, GA in 1993 after his retirement from the St. Lucie County Road Dept.
He was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII and Korea, as a Sergeant. He was a former member of Parkview Baptist Church of Fort Pierce, when he was a deacon for a number of years, and was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Blairsville. He was in the St. Lucie County Citrus Industry for a number of years.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Betty Allbritton, of Blairsville, GA; his daughter and son-in-law Brenda & Joe Campbell; his son David Allbritton of Blairsville, GA; his grandchildren; Steven and his wife Terri Campbell of Fort Pierce, FL, Jason Allbritton, stationed with the US Marines, Justin Allbritton of Blairsville, GA, Amanda Herndon of Cartersville, GA; great-grandson Hayden Herndon. He was pre-deceased by his son, Mark Allbritton.

Glen W. "Pooie" Blackburn

Glen W. Blackburn, 90, fondly known as “Pooie, ” died July 25, 2003. Glen was born August 31, 1912 in McAndrews, KY. While living in Kentucky, he owned and operated heavy equipment and coal mines. In 1951, he moved his family to Ft. Pierce and founded Glen Blackburn Trucking.
Glen Blackburn was devoted to his family, leaving behind his wife of 69 years, Mable; daughters, Glenna Rucks of Okeechobee and Linda Carlton of Ft. Pierce; faithful son-in-laws, Carl Carlton Jr. and Edwin Rucks; four grandchildren, Glen Chastain, Bonnie Roehm, Glenna Carlton Sigmon, and Cara Carlton; six great-grandchildren, Victoria, Danielle, Marcus, Rachel, Carlton Wade, and Sarah; and many friends to cherish his memory.
Pooie was known for his beautiful, fruitful gardens, his passion for fishing and the Atlanta Braves, his remarkable handiwork and incredible work ethic. But most of all, Glen Blackburn will be remembered for his loving, generous and caring ways-all of the things that made him “Pooie.”
