Service Date: March 13, 2004
Service Time: 11:00 AM
Service Location: Central Assembly of God
Spencer Dean Baney was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 7th, 2004. Fondly known as Dean by his family and friends, he slipped away peacefully from complications caused by Diabetes and kidney disease.
Dean was born in Mishawaka, IN on July 6th, 1939 to John Wayne and Hazel Baney. He was the baby of eleven children. Upon graduation from high school in 1957, he immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he proudly served 3 years until his honorable discharge in July 1960. In his first post military job, Dean began a long career with public utilities, the electric company. He worked for Indiana Michigan Electric until 1974 when he moved to Florida and began a career with FPL. He retired from FPL in 1993 after 20 years of service.
Dean is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Bonnie Baney, daughter, Ann Rutyna, (former) son-in-law, Mike Rutyna and his grandson, Dylan Rutyna of Ft. Pierce, FL. Dean is also survived by his two sons, Steve Baney of Ellenton, FL, and Aaron Baney of Bradenton, FL, and a daughter Kellie Baney also of Bradenton, FL (from his first marriage), and grandchildren, Shawna Morrell, Nikki Baney, and Amber Carbone, and great-grandson, Dalton Morrell. Dean was 32nd degree Mason, a thirty-five year member of the Elks, and a long standing member of the American Legion. During his lifetime, Dean had many pleasures including reading, watching football, especially his beloved Notre Dame, enjoying NASCAR and traveling, but most of all his passion was his extensive collection of military patches and medals. Dean also enjoyed watching Dylan grow. “Papa”, as Dylan named him, shared many precious moments with Dylan, from watching Sponge Bob, or licking the egg beaters after Gram made a cake, to playing UNO or putting a puzzle together. Papa was one of Dylan’s favorite fans, cheering fervently at his baseball games.
In 1982 Dean’s life changed dramatically. He accepted the Lord as his personal Savior and thus began twenty-two years of faithful service. Dean loved the Lord and celebrated that love weekly with his church family and friends at Central Assembly of God, in Vero Beach.
Dean and Bonnie’s family and friends are invited to attend a home-going memorial service in his honor on Saturday, the 13th of March at 11:00 AM at Central Assembly of God. Donations may be made to the Seek the Lamb Ministries in care of Central Assembly of God. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that you perform a random act of kindness: for a stranger, a widow, a neighbor, a friend, or someone in need. Bless them and do it in Dean’s memory and ask them to pass it on!
