Mr. Kenneth R. Mongan

Kenneth R. Mongan, 54, Bradenton, passed away November 25, 2012 at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton. He served honorably with the U.S. Army Reserves. Kenneth has no known family. Private services will be held at a later date and time. Arrangements by Shannon Funeral Home Town Chapel, Bradenton.

Mr. Robert Schofield

Robert Schofield, 90, Bradenton, passed away Nov. 25, 2012. He was born icon on May 10, 1922 in Oldham, England to the late Robert & Helena Mary (McAvady) Schofield. During WWII he served with the British Royal Air Force. Robert moved to Niagara Falls, NY in 1947 and in 1972 moved to Tampa .Then in 1975 to Manatee County. Robert owned his own company that made medical instruments. He owned a local marina and general store at a local trailer park in Palmetto. He was a member of the Bradenton Lawn Bowling Club until closed, and then was a member of the Sarasota Lawn Club. He was predeceased by his son, Ian James in 1990, daughter, Linda Emmons in 2009, two brothers; Joe and John. He is survived by his sister, Betty (Nelson) King of Canada, three grandchildren; Shawn and Andrew Emmons of Bradenton, Jennifer Darling of Pittsburg, PA, three great-grandchildren; Liam and Ian Emmons of Bradenton, Kira Darling of Pittsburg, PA. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to TideWell Hospice in his memory.

Mrs. Anna Benkulik

Anna Benkulik, 93, Ellenton. passed away Nov. 22, 2012. Anna was born icon on June 17, 1919 in Smithdale, PA to the late Stephen and Sofia (Skripich) Gidick, and moved to Ellenton coming from Simthdale, PA in 1998. And was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Palmetto.

She was predeceased by a husband Albert Rieger and their only son Kalman, husband Michael Benkulik, three brothers; George, Michael, John, and a sister Sofia Blasco, and is survived by her daughter-in-law, Martha Rieger Parisian and her grandchildren; Steve (Laurie) Parisian, Elizabeth Rieger (John) Owen, Joan Rieger widow of Raymond Rieger, and Stella (Todd) Piersall., five great-grandchildren; Joshua and Marisa Schreiber, Julianna Parisian, Sarah and Georgia Piersall, and many nieces and nephews. She has many friends and relatives who will miss her generous, loving and faith-filled spirit.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Shannon Funeral Home Town Chapel, 1015 14th Street W., Bradenton with a Rosary service to be held at 7:30 P.M. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, November 30, 2012 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 501 26th Street W., Palmetto with committal to follow in the Memorial Garden.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to her parish, Holy Cross Catholic Church, Palmetto or the St. Joseph Catholic School in Bradenton.

Mrs. Jane Barton Pratt

Jane Barton Pratt, widow of Harry Chester Pratt of Bradenton, died October 27, 2012. She was born icon February 10, 1924 to Mason Byron Barton and Almina Caroline (Knowlton) Barton in Melrose, MA, and lived in Ardmore, PA until the age of 12. After the death of her father, Jane resided in New London, NH with her mother, brother Carlton Frye Barton and sister Mary Luette Barton. Jane graduated from New London High School in 1941 and University of New Hampshire in 1945. In 1951 Jane met Bradenton resident and accountant Harry Pratt, son of Dan and Caroline Druscilla (Wyatt) Pratt, and on August 8, 1952 they married in New London, NH, and she continued to reside in Bradenton, FL thereafter.

Jane Pratt is survived by her three sons and their wives, Mason Dan and Donna (Walker) Pratt, Wyatt Barton and Vivian Lee (Madison) Pratt, and Keith Knowlton and Kelly (Jones) Pratt, her three grand children Drew Wyatt Pratt (son of Mason Pratt and Ann Wheatley), and Laura Vivian Pratt and Chase Madison Pratt (children of Wyatt and Vivian Pratt), sister Mary Luette (Barton) Belden (wife of Charles Marston Belden), brother-in-law Richard Wyatt Pratt (husband of Barbara Todd Pratt), and sister-in-law Martha Thom (Pratt) Whitcomb (wife of Harold Whitcomb).

A memorial service and celebration of life is planned for Saturday, December 15th, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jane B. Pratt Alternative School Just for Girls, 1500 10th Street West, Palmetto, FL 34221. In lieu of flowers, Jane’s expressed wishes are that she would greatly appreciate her friends and family generously supporting and contributing what they can to our next generation of promising girls by sending a donation to the Jane B. Pratt Scholarship Fund, c/o Just for Girls and the Manatee County Girls Club Foundation, Inc., 1011 21st Street East, Bradenton, FL 34208. For more information please call (941) 747-5757. Mr. George Duryee Hulst

George Duryee Hulst, 97, Bradenton, passed away Nov. 28, 2012. He was born icon on June 7, 1915 in Montclair, NJ to the late George D. & Margaret (Gardiner) Hulst. He attended and graduated from Swarthmore, MIT and Stevens Universities. He was a Research Engineer and worked for Dumont, RCA, IT&T and Ballentine Labs. In Montclair his memberships include the New York Holland Society, Barbershop Chorus, Operetta Club and the Montclair Heights Reformed Church. He moved to Bradenton in 1980 coming from Upper Montclair, NJ. Locally he was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Bradenton. He is survived his wife Lillian, daughter, Carolyn Hulst Boyer-Rowe of Bradenton, two sisters; Madeline Lawrence of Seminole, Fl., Margaret Jenkins of Hackettstown, NJ, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church Choir Fund, 3011 19th Ave. W., Bradenton, Fl. 34205.

Mr. Jose Esequiel Barnhart

Jose Esequiel Barnhart, 82, Bradenton, FL formerly of Immokalee, FL, passed away on Nov. 24, 2012. Jose was born icon on January 30, 1930 in Corn Hill, TX to the late Juan and Antonia (Martinez) Barnhart. He worked as an agricultural contractor and moved to Bradenton in 2012 coming from Immokalee. Jose was predeceased by two brothers; Bernardo and Felipe, and a sister Aurora. He is survived by his three sons, George and Susanna Barnhart of Bradenton, Tony and Esmeralda Barnhart of Alice, TX, Armando and Antonia Barnhart of Immokalee, three daughters; Sandy Ruiz of Immokalee, Linda and Lee Collins of Felda, FL, Paula Barnhart of Ft. Myers, FL, brother, Leal Barnhart of Raymondsville, TX, sister, Maria and Aldolfo Cortinas of Houston, TX, sixteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, November 30, 2012 at Shannon Funeral Home Town Chapel, 1015 14th St. W., Bradenton.

Mr. Dan Coleman Lovelace

Dan Coleman Lovelace, 51, of Bradenton, FL, died of cancer on Nov. 23, 2012. He was predeceased by his father, Dan C. Lovelace and is survived by his mother, JoAnn Lovelace and a sister Tracey Lovelace.

He received a B.A. in Computer Science from Florida State University and a Master’s in Business Administration from University of Tampa. After graduation Dan worked in Information Technology at IBM in Tampa and subsequently for IXL in Atlanta as a Software Engineer.

After returning to Bradenton he freelanced in web design and played the percussion for the orchestra at the First Baptist Church. He enjoyed cycling, windsurfing and ran in the Peach Tree Road Race in Atlanta.

He is also survived he his Uncle Milton Lovelace, Aunt Mary Grissett, Aunt Patsey Rummel and Uncle Tom Anderson.

Visitation will be from 1:30-2:30 P.M. on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 with a service to follow at 2:30 P.M. at Shannon Funeral Home Westview Chapel, 5610 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.

Mrs. Betty Tincher

Betty Tincher, 80, of Bradenton, FL, passed away November 14. She is survived by son, Terry Tincher of Hendersonville, NC; daughter, Karen Campbell of Bradenton, FL; four brothers & 2 sisters.

Mrs. Virginia May Reed

Virginia May Reed, 87, Palmetto, passed away Nov. 11, 2012. She was born icon in Albion, MI and came to Bradenton from Albion in December 1994. She was a teacher, a member of the D.A.R., at the ELT Women's Club in Albion and the First United Methodist Church of Palmetto. Virginia is survived by her daughters: Ann Reed and Dennis Davis of Bradenton, Karen and Robert Messing of Elmwood, MA, Susan and David Reed-Quinlan of Mason, MI; six grandchildren: Robert and David Messing, Madeline and Reed Quinlan, Rachel Muquiz, Arthur Rafferty and her adopted family Betsy & Marty Rafferty and Gary Schluter of Bradenton. Visitation will be 5-6 Wed. Nov. 14, 2012 with services to follow at 6 P.M. at Shannon Funeral Home Westview Chapel, Bradenton. Further services and interment will be in MI. Donations to Tidewell Hospice.

Mr. Christoforos Gikas

Christoforos Gikas, 88, Bradenton Beach, passed away Nov. 9, 2012. Christo was born icon on April 4, 1924 in Doverna, Greece to the late Chris & Katerina (Kotsoginannis) Gikas. He served with the Army in Greece. He immigrated to the U.S in 1953. He settled in Cedar Grove, NJ where he owned and operated several restaurants in Cedar Grove and Livingston, NJ. He moved to Bradenton Beach in 2005. Christo was a member of the St. Barbara’s Greek Orthodox Church in Sarasota. He was predeceased by two brothers, and is survived by his loving wife, Katina (Moulkiotis) of Bradenton Beach, two sons; Chris of Woodcliff Lakes, NJ, Bill of Bradenton Beach, brother, Nonda Gikas of Paramus, NJ, two sisters; Rita Drivas of Fort Lee, NJ, Evgania (George) Mihalis of Doverna, Greece, and two grandsons; Christopher and Stefanos of Woodcliff Lakes, NJ. The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 with a Trisagion Service at 7:00 P.M. at Shannon Funeral Home Westview Chapel, 5610 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012 at St. Barbara’s Greek Orthodox Church, Sarasota, with interment to follow at Palma Sola Cemetery in Bradenton. Memorials may be made to the church in Christo’s memory.

Mr. John Howard Wilson

John Howard Wilson, 76, Myakka City, Fl, passed away on October 23, 2012 at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton. John was born icon on November 12, 1935 to the late Howard and Emma (Long) Wilson. He was a retired electrician working for the city of Sarasota, Florida. John is survived by his two children; Darrin Wilson of Portland, OR, Lori “Lee” Laudon of Elk Grove, CA, one brother, William “Bill” Wilson of Sarasota, FL, and four grandchildren. Private committal services will be held at a later date at the Myakka Cemetery where he will be buried with his wife Wendy who predeceased him. Arrangements by Shannon Funeral Home Town Chapel, Bradenton. “John H. Wilson died the way he lived; he turned his back on his family that loved him; he died alone.”

Mrs. Mary Ann Kaczorowski

Mary Ann Kaczorowski, 88, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at her home in Bradenton, Florida. She was born icon Mary Ann Kotkiewicz on June 12, 1924 and grew up in Roslyn, New York. During World War II she worked for Grumman Aircraft in Bethpage and later at Glen Cove Community Hospital. A long time Girl Scout leader of Glen Cove's Troup 65, Mary Ann was an avid gardener, a voracious reader, an active tennis and bowling enthusiast and an outgoing and engaging conversationalist She and her husband, Raymond, relocated from Glen Cove, New York to Bradenton, Florida in 1981. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Raymond Kaczorowski, a veteran of WWII as well as her husband of 5 years, Donald Lundholm, also a veteran. Mary Ann is survived by two sons, Raymond Kaczorowski and wife Diane Schwetz of Houston, TX; Kenneth Kaczorowski and partner Barbara Griffin of Oak Island, New York; and two daughters, Donna Kaz and husband Richard Charkham of New York, NY; and Diane Shumway and husband Rick of Southampton, NY. Her sister, Agnes Trubish of Glen Cove, and two brothers, Jim Kotkiewicz of Levittown, PA and Val Kotkiewicz of Bethpage, NY, also survive her. She was the proud and loving grandmother of Scott and spouse Catherine, Kevin and spouse Tammy, Erek, Meredith, Kayla and Derek and a cherished great-grandmother of Caroline, Logan, Jacob and Samantha.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012 with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. at Shannon Funeral Home Westview Chapel, 5610 Manatee Ave. Bradenton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Sat. Nov. 17, 2012 in the chapel at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 2850 75th St. W., Bradenton. Committal services will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 19, 2012 at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.

Memorial tributes may be made to Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church or the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Iwan Zadorozny

Iwan Zadorozny, 95, Bradenton, passed away October 27, 2012. He was born icon on April 15, 1917 in the Ukraine, coming to the U.S. in 1952 and lived in Utica, NY. He retired from the Utica Cutlery Co. where he worked as a polisher. Iwan moved to Bradenton 16 years ago. He was a member of the Bradenton Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall. He was predeceased by his loving wife Dorothy in 1994 and all of his siblings. He is survived by his three children; Sophia (Nicholas) Popechuk of Philadelphia, PA,, Wasyl (Sherry) Zadorozny of Utica, NY, Sania (Ronald) Allen of Osprey, FL, fourteen grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Visitation was held from 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 with a service at 7:30 at Shannon Funeral Home Westview Chapel, 5610 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton. Further services and interment took place in Utica, NY. Memorials may be made to the Bradenton Kingdom Hall in his memory.

Mrs. Mary E. Wise

Mary E. Wise, 92, of Bradenton passed away peacefully, Oct. 26, 2012. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, December 1, 2012 in the auditorum of Freedom Village in Bradenton. Private family committal services were held at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida where she was buried next to her late husband. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Palma Sola Presbyterian Church, 6510 3rd Avenue West, Bradenton, FL 34209. Arrangements by Shannon Funeral Home Westview Chapel, Bradenton, Fl.

Mrs. Lillian Kafka Bowman

Lillian Kafka Bowman passed away on November 6, 2012 in Bay Village, Sarasota, Florida. She was born icon on December 31, 1927 in Houston, Texas and grew up in Forest Hills, Long Island, New York. She excelled in her studies and gymnastics and graduated with high honors from Forest Hills High School in June 1945. On December 15, 1951, she married John Thomas Bowman in Richmond Hill, New York and they celebrated 62 years of marriage. While vacationing in Scottsdale, Arizona in 1963, Lillian and John became so enamored with the history and natural environment of the area that they moved to Scottsdale that same year as permanent residents and later, in 1993, built a new home in Fountain Hills.

Prior to her retirement in 1997, Lillian enjoyed an active career in the business world for over 40 years as Administrative Assistant to CEOs in reputable and famous corporations. She was regarded highly for her skills, efficiency and winning personality, as well as her artistic and journalistic contributions. She was a perfectionist in all areas of her life!

During her leisure hours, Lillian enjoyed her home, her family, her little dogs and various sports activities (especially golf and women’s softball). She also enjoyed time on her home computer researching ancestry records, writing articles for various publications and creating original greeting cards for friends & relatives.

During her retirement years, not one to sit still for long, Lillian worked for nine years for Caldwell Banker in Fountain Hills, Arizona.

Lillian is survived by her twin sister Irene Kafka Letendre of Lighthouse Point, FL, two sons, Dan Bowman of Colorado Springs, CO, Ted Bowman of Hampton, VA plus five grandchildren: Janine Mothershed of Mesa, AZ, Sara McCurly of VA, Kati Bowman of Mesa, AZ, Tyler and Justin Bowman both of Hampton VA, three great-grandchildren: Hayli, Karsyn and Liam as well as four beloved and devoted cousins: Ricky Kafka of Phoeniz, AZ, Catherine Kafka Oliver of Parrish, FL, Lee Kafka Chichester of Chester, MA, and Tomara Kafka of Sarasota, FL.

Lillian was a faithful wife, a dedicated mother, and a faithful friend who made a difference to those who had the good fortune of sharing her life’s journey.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Bay Village in Sarasota, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the American Cancer Society, American Heart Fund or TideWell Hospice in her memory. Arrangements by Shannon Funeral Home Town Chapel, Bradenton.
