Mrs. Patricia "Patty" Vorhees Benson
Patricia Vorhees Benson "Patty", 84, of Bradenton, passed away Oct. 20, 2013.
Patty was born
in Detroit in 1929. Moved to Bradenton from Westerville, OH in 1978. For years she attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church and was a member of the Legion of Mary.
She raised five children. Her kindness and love came first with everyone she met. Her talent was at being a true artist. Graduated from the Chicago School of Interior Decorating. She and her twin sister, Betty Farrar opened up a business called Interiors by Far-Ben. She painted a wall in her first house of a magnificent hand painted Japanese garden in four seasons. Her art finally materialized flawlessly in her quilting. She was a member of Sharing Quilting, here in Manatee County. She must have designed and hand quilted over 30 quilts in her life.
She was predeceased by her father and mother; Clyde and Edith Vorhees, twin sister and husband; Betty and Dick Farrar, son, Steven and daughter Linda Noonan. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Frederick Benson, Sr., and three sons; Fred Jr. and his wife Jeanne, Don and his wife Linda, David and his wife Amy all of Bradenton. Seven grandchildren; Susan, Steve, Dave Jr., Bill of Bradenton, Jacob Benson of CA, Jennifer Noonan Blair and her husband Doug in Bradenton, Chris Hamilton and his wife Kristin of Pacifica, CA, three great-grandchildren; Kate Lynn Blair of Bradenton, Nathan and Sophia Hamilton of Pacifica, CA, and many extended family members and friends all over Bradenton and Ohio.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Shannon Funeral Home Town Chapel, 1015 14th Street, Bradenton with a Prayer service to be held at 7:30 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 A.M. on Friday, October 25, 2013 with a family eulogy to start at 9:15 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2990 26th Street West, Bradenton with inurnment to follow in the Memorial Garden at the church.

Mrs. Betty Anne Stutts Anderson
Betty Anne Stutts Anderson passed away on October 16, 2013. She was born
on January 22, 1930 in Bradenton to Willie and Blanche White. Betty Anne lived in Bradenton most of her life, and she graduated from Manatee County High School in 1947. She went on to college at Stetson University and Florida State University and to business school in Atlanta. She lived in Miami in her early years, and it was there that she met her husband, Kress Stutts of Sherrills Ford, NC. Betty Anne and Kress and their children moved back “home” to Bradenton in 1971, and after enjoying many happy years together, Kress passed away in 1994. She later reconnected with and married her high school sweetheart, Frank Anderson, who passed away in 2011. Betty Anne is survived by her two children, Susan Stutts and Paul Stutts, both of Bradenton. She has four grandchildren: Keith, Taylor, Tara and Kaleb Stutts, and very recently welcomed her first great-grandchild, Sadie Lanay Stutts.
Betty Anne grew up in First Baptist Church of Bradenton, where she was a member for a long time, and later in life she belonged to Northwest Baptist Church and Southside Baptist Church. She loved her church families in all these places, and she enjoyed serving in different ways throughout her life, whether as a children’s Sunday School teacher or helping out in the kitchen.
Betty Anne worked as an executive secretary for most of her career, including a long time at Miller Trailers. She later worked as a materials buyer there, and counted many of her co-workers as friends.
Betty Anne’s greatest love and joy was her family. She felt blessed to have wonderful Christian parents, and Betty Anne’s children likewise feel truly blessed and thankful to have her as their mother. She loved and treasured all of her family, including her many cousins and her aunts and uncle.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 21 from 6-8 pm at Shannon Funeral Home Town Chapel, 1015 14th St. W., Bradenton, and a Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22 in the Memorial Chapel of First Baptist Church of Bradenton, 1306 Manatee Ave., W, Bradenton. Committal services will follow at Manasota Memorial Park, Bradenton.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Southside Baptist Church “New Roof Fund”, 1604 17th St. W., Bradenton, Fl. 34205.
Mrs. Ruth Luella Todd
Ruth Luella Todd, 91, Bradenton, passed away Oct. 15, 2013. She was born
on Feb. 2, 1922 in Rochester, NY to the late Herbert and Esther (Freedman) Nagell.
Ruth was a homemaker, and member of the Theosophical Society, the Presbyterian and Unity Churches in Rochester and held her own meditation group. In her free time she enjoyed writing poetry and watercolor painting. She moved to Manatee County in 2000, and attended the Unity in the Woods Church in Bradenton.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband Jack C. Todd in March of 2002, son, Gary C. Todd, and a brother Herbert E. Nagell. She is survived by her dear children; David J. (Diane) Todd of Merritt Island, FL, Sheryl L. (John) Corso of Punta Gorda, FL, Nancy L. Bossert of Euless, TX, Heather R. Todd of Bradenton, her eight precious grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date and time.
Mrs. Irene Frances Haraburda
Irene F. Haraburda (nee Jendrejewski), 86, of Bradenton, passed away on October 13, 2013.
Irene was predeceasedby her beloved husband, Walter. She is survived by two sons; Walt D. (Meri) and Russell F. Haraburda, two daughters; Louise M. (Ed) Cannon and Laura J. (Nick) Bednarczyk, eight grandchildren; Mark, Matthew, Melissa, Eddie, David, Eric, Kailey and Lane, and five great-grandchildren; Timothy, Sammy, Thomas, Andrew and Maisie.
Irene was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She and her husband ran the family owned, Haraburda Pharmacy, in Chicago, which is still open to this day. She loved traveling, swimming, and movies. Irene had the most wonderfully infectious laugh. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 18, 2013 from 4:00 - 8:00pm at Shannon Funeral Home Westview Chapel, 5610 Manatee Ave W. Bradenton. Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 9:30am at Saints Peter & Paul the Apostles Catholic Church, 2850 75th Street W. Bradenton.

Juan A. Flores, 55 de Bradenton, falleció el 11 de octubre de 2013. Juan nació el 24 de septiembre de 1958 en Matamoros, México Benito Flores y Catalina González.

Mr. Juan A. Flores
Juan A. Flores, 55 of Bradenton, passed away on October 11, 2013. Juan was born
on September 24, 1958 in Matamoros, Mexico to Benito Flores and Catalina Gonzalez.
Juan has been a resident of Manatee County for over 20 years coming from Mexico. He worked in the construction industry and attended the Hispanic Community Baptist Church in Bradenton.
He is survived by his loving wife Fransica Gonzalez Flores, dear father to; Guillermo and Stephanie Flores, Juan A. and Amanda Flores, Nellie Flores, and Nancy Flores and her husband Angel De Leon, brother of Jose Luis, Martin, Estella, Elizabeth, Nazaria Flores and Lorinza Valdes, and grandfather to thirteen precious grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M on Monday, October 14, 2013. at the Bible Baptist Church, 2113 57th Street East, Bradenton. Mr. Duncan McEan Cairnie
Duncan McEwan Cairnie, 86, Parrish, formerly of Bradenton, passed away Oct. 12, 2013. Duncan was born
Jan. 12, 1927 in Andover, MA to the late Duncan M. and Jean (Webster) Cairnie.
Duncan was a graduate of Punchard High School in Andover. He served with the U.S. Navy during WWII. Duncan was retired from the Andover Police Department, and was the longest living retired employee of the Police Department.
He was past president of the Town Employer Association, past-president of the Andover Police Officer's Association, member of the St. Mathews Masonic Lodge in Andover, lifetime member of the D.A.V., and past chief Clan Johnson.
He moved to Manatee County in July of 1971 and was a member of the Sahib Temple in Sarasota, and attended Bayside Community Church in Bradenton.
Duncan was predeceased by his loving wife Beverly Ann (Bixby) Cairnie in January of 2004, two sisters and their husbands; Jane M. and Roger Davidet, Webster "Esther" and Harold McAllister, He is survived by his three sons; Douglas S. (Susan) Cairnie of Methuen, MA, Bradford A. Cairnie of Bradenton, Bruce W. (Dana) Cairnie of Parrish, daughter, Deborah Douglass of Andover, MA, seven granddaughters, three grandsons, and several great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 3-5:30 P.M. on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Shannon Funeral Home Town Chapel, 1015 14th St. W., Bradenton. Further services and interment will be later this week in Andover, MA.

Mr. John Dee Van Alsburg
John Dee Van Alsburg, 71 of Holmes Beach, Florida, passed away on October 10, 2013 at the TideWell Hospice House in Bradenton, Florida. John was born
on July 22, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Franklin and Lucy (Livingston) Van Alsburg.
He served his country faithfully during the Vietname War by serving with the United States Air Force. He worked for over 20 years with the former Grain Processing Company in Muscatine, Iowa which is now known as Muscatine Foods.
John formerly lived in Holland, Michigan for many years before moving to Muscatine, Iowa in 1989. He lived in Muscatine for 12 years before moving to Holmes Beach in 2001.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Jan (Leggett) Van Alsburg of Holmes Beach, Florida, two dear sons; John and Jenn Van Alsburg of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Mike and Shannon Van Alsburg of St. Petersburg, Florida, one sister, Jan Rutgers and her husband, Lynn Boland of Holland, Michigan, and three precious grandchildren.
