Mr. David A. Pomorski

May 7, 1957 – Sept. 7, 2013

David A. Pomorski, Bradenton Beach, Fl. God's mercy was finally granted on Sept 7, when he took our beloved brother into his arms and carried him away to the peace he deserved.

David Allen Pomorski was a warrior. His strength and optimism in the face of his cancer left an indelible mark on everyone who crossed his path.

A master shipwright, David moved from Erie, Pa to Bradenton Beach, in 1978. He learned the trade under the influence of his father, the late Martin Pomorski. As dock master of the Erie Yacht Club, he instilled the love of boats in his talented, impressionable son. David went on to create a reputation of a fine craftsman, inventor and artist and damn good golfer. His passion was wooden boats, and he won many awards for his work through the years. He loved to sail, but his greatest joy was in a little skiff, roaming the shallows of the bay south of Cortez.

Though he lived here over 30 years, he was a private man and never married. His beautiful blue eyes and kind heart attracted love, camaraderie and friendship from all walks of life.

His loving sisters, Pam Chrzanowski of Erie, PA and Patricia McCarthy of Denver, CO wrapped him in love until the end. Unconditional support by Pam's husband John and Patricia's fiance Dr. Frank Benison who enabled that care was never interrupted. Dave Mulligan of Erie was another integral part in his 2.5 year battle, acting as friend and caregiver .

Preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Sally and Martin, he leaves a void in the hearts of his sisters, brother Larry Pomorski and his wife Camille of Erie, a favorite Uncle, Edward Jares of Erie. His closest cousin Dan and wife Theresa organized a benefit in Erie that gathered hundreds of people together to pledge their loving support. He took joy from his many nieces and nephews and their children, who all recognized that Uncle David was pretty special.

"It is, what it is" was his mantra. He will live on forever in our hearts.

A celebration of his life will be held on Sat, Sept 14 at high noon at his last residence, 116 11th St So. Bradenton Bch. Carpooling recommended.

Mrs. Connie Lou Brown Howard

Connie Lou Howard, 74, passed away on August 30, 2013, at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton from complications of a fall on August 1st. A Bradenton native, Connie was born icon February 5, 1939, to the late W. Ernest and Evelyn S. Brown. The baby of four sisters, Connie had a wonderful childhood growing up in "The Friendly City," developing lifelong friendships throughout school, church, and the community. A 1957 graduate of Manatee County High School, Connie was very active in a number of clubs and organizations, to include Marching Band, President of the Mam'selles, and Anchor Club. Always excelling in school, she went on to attend Florida State University, majoring in Special and Elementary Education, and was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority, graduating on an accelerated schedule in January of 1961.

After memorable adventures to Europe and a time teaching in Atlanta, Connie married her high school sweetheart, Bill Howard, in 1963 and moved to St Pete. Connie and Bill had three children - Sharon, Billy, and Cathy - and became the center of their world, eventually moving back home to Bradenton in 1974 to be with all their close families and friends.

Connie went back to the classroom in 1976, spending the next 23 years at Prine Elementary School as a second grade teacher, earning her Master's Degree from University of South Florida in 1983 and eventual retirement in 1999. At that time, she became full time Wife, Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, and Friend to All.

In June, Connie and Bill celebrated the wonderful milestone of reaching 50 years of marriage at the Columbia Restaurant on St. Armands Circle.

Throughout her long and fruitful life, "Con Con" developed and maintained an immeasurable network of friends, engaging on a number of occasions with seemingly total "strangers" and garnering life stories in just a short amount of time. Family and friends all agree on two things about Connie: "Connie and Bill" was one word; and Connie was the most graceful and friendliest person they've ever known. Her passion was her family, particularly her husband and children, grandchildren, and, recently, a great-grandchild. Her other notable hobbies were card and board games; lunch and shopping on Wednesdays and Saturdays with her sisters; Friday night dinners out; FSU sport games; music; cooking; TV Variety shows; and "footrubs!"

The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013 at Shannon Funeral Home Town Chapel, 1015 14th St. W. Bradenton. A Celebration of Connie's life will be held at 10:00 A.M on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013 in the Memorial Chapel at First Baptist Church of Bradenton, 1306 Manatee Ave. W., with committal to follow at Fogartyville Cemetery, Bradenton.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Kidney Foundation and the Salvation Army. Enjoyed it, Con Con!!!
