Mrs. Maria Dennis

Maria Dennis, 80, Bradenton, passed away Jan. 25, 2014. She was born icon July 2, 1933 in Naples, Italy to the late Salvatore and Vincenza DiCostanzo.

Maria moved to Bradenton in 2004 coming from Burnsville, MN where she was a member of the Mary, Mother of the Church. Locally she attended St. Joseph Catholic Church. She also was known as MaMa D at Joey D’s Restaurant in Bradenton, where she loved working with the customers and children that came into the family restaurant.

She was predeceased by her son, Joseph S. Dennis in 2000 and is survived by her loving husband, Robert Eugene, two sons; Bobby and Tommy all of Bradenton, four brothers; Pepino of Italy, Frankie, Vince and Ralph all of Chicago, IL, three sisters; Theresa of Chicago, Lelena and Stedena of Italy, four grandchildren; Lexie, Joey, Bobby, Sophie, and many extended family members and friends.

Visitation and services will be held later next week in Burnsville, MN with Burial to follow at the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.

The family request memorials be made to American Alzheimer’s Association in her memory.

Mrs. Claire Deslauriers

Claire Deslauriers, 85, Sarasota, passed away Jan. 25, 2014 at the Greenbriar Nursing Facility in Bradenton. She was born icon on July 20, 1928 in Haverhill, MA to the late Leo and Marie Rose (Gosselin) Panneton. Claire moved to Florida over 30 years ago coming from Manchester, NH, and was a long time member of the Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church in Sarasota. She was predeceased by her husband, Marcel, two sons; Paul and Raymond, two sisters; Lucille Allard, Irene Landry, and two brothers; Lionel and Ernest Panneton. She is survived by her daughter, Alice Deslauriers of Bradenton, FL, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and her husband's sisters and brother-in-law; Sr. Agathe Deslauriers, Gisele (Andre) Thibault, and Jeanne Deslauriers from the Burlington, VT area. A memorial service will be held later this summer in Manchester, NH.

Mr. Lloyd William Albritton

Lloyd William Albritton, 77, Bradenton, passed away Jan. 30, 2014. He was born icon May 8, 1936 in Ft. Green, FL, to the late W.A. and Alma (Driggers) Albritton, Sr. and has been a life long resident of Manatee County.

Lloyd was a retired welder and a member of Grace Baptist Church in Bradenton.

He was predeceased by a brother Harvey Clark Albritton, and a sister, Janette Pierce. Survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Kay of Bradenton, four sons; Randy (Vicki) of Parma Heights, OH, Lyle (Ronda) of Parrish, Kent and Brian both of Bradenton, two brothers, W.A. (Laura Kay) Albritton, Jr. of Seymour, TN, Arlis (Connie) of Bradenton, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014 at Shannon Funeral Home, 1015 14th St. W., Bradenton. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 at Grace Baptist Church, 507 26th Ave. E., Bradenton, with interment to follow at Gillette Cemetery in Palmetto.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to TideWell Hospice.

Mrs. Lillian Knowles

Lillian Knowles, 95, of Bradenton, passed away on January 26, 2014.

Lillian is survived by 3 daughters; Joyce (Al) DeMaio, Deborah Knowles and Theresa Gutherie, 1 son; Ronald (Susan) Knowles, 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her beloved dog Rita. Lillian was predeceased by her loving husband of 67 years, Lawrence Knowles, son Lawrence Knowles and grandson Ronald "Satch" Knowles.

Lillian was a homemaker from the time she was married in 1941 until 1963 when she started her career. She worked at Estee Lauder and at Hawaiian Surf Industries as the plant supervisor. She became a full time grandmother in 1977. She moved here in 1974 from Dear Park Long Island, NY. She was a dedicated parishioner of Ss. Peter and Paul the Apostles Catholic Church. Her lifelong passion was sewing.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 28th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Shannon Funeral Home Westview Chapel, 5610 Manatee Ave. Bradenton Fl. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, January 29th at 9:30 am at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 2850 75th Street W. Bradenton Fl.

Lillian will be laid to rest with her husband at Skyway Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her honor to St. Jude's Children's Hospital at stjude.org or

Mr. George William Dwyer

George William Dwyer, passed away peacefully at his home in Bradenton Florida, on Sunday January 26, 2014.

Born August 31, 1919 in Bay City, Michigan. He was a United States Navy Veteran, serving aboard the USS Anthedon in the South Pacific during World War II.

A devout catholic, George wed Mary Elizabeth Crawford on Valentines Day in 1942.

While growing his family with Elizabeth, George founded, owned and operated Mechanicals Inc. in Cincinnati, Ohio. The couple retired to Bradenton Florida in 1989 where they enjoyed 25 years of travel, golf, fishing, tennis, and bridge.

George was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bradenton.

George leaves behind his loving wife of 72 years, Mary Elizabeth, three son, James Dwyer (Sue) Fernandina Beach, Florida, William Dwyer (Sue) Cincinnati, Ohio, Dr. George Michael Dwyer (Susan) Ridgley, West Virginia, and one daughter, Patricia Wyenandt (Dr Robert) Cincinnati, Ohio. Nine Grandchildren, Christine Borden, Teri Petrella, Paul Dwyer, James Adam Dwyer, Michael Dwyer, Katherine Dwyer, Matthew Dwyer, Robert Wyenandt III, Gabriel Wyenandt and four great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Kim, Sarah, and all the caregivers at Home Instead Senior Care, for all the loving care they gave George and Elizabeth over the last 2 years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday January 31 at 1:00 pm with the Eulogy at 12:45 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, .

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the mass.

Following the mass the family invites you to join them for a fellowship and reflection at the El Conquistador Country Club, 4350 El Conquistador Parkway, Bradenton, Florida.

Mrs. Rebecca Peck

Rebecca Peck, 91, passed away on January 19th after a long illness. Born in Clearwater Florida, and raised partly in Nashville, she was a longtime resident of Bradenton and was a retired schoolteacher and artist.

She received her Master’s degree at Peabody College, Vanderbilt University in Industrial Arts and volunteered with the Red Cross during WWII. Becky was a past president, and member of the Manatee Art League for many years as a gifted and creative sculptor and sumi painter. She loved to travel and sailed with her late husband Douglas Peck to many places including Mexico, the Bahamas, Bermuda and the eastern seaboard of the US on the “Gooney Bird”. “Coach” Peck was a Physical Education teacher at Ballad Elementary 19 years. She had many friends and kept in touch with her college buds to the very end.

She is survived by daughter Dorothy Peck, son Douglas Peck and his wife Kathy and 3 grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life for Doug and Becky is planned at a later date.

Mrs. Mary E. Kortzendorf

Mary E. Kortzendorf, 77, Palmetto, passed away Jan. 26, 2014. She was born icon Dec. 17, 1936 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Paul and Lovada (Schmitt) Koehl.

Mary moved to Manatee County in 1979. She worked for Albertson's on 75th St. W for over 10 years as an Assistant Department Manager. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradenton.

Mary was predeceased by a daughter, Melissa Roux, three brothers and one sister. and is survived by her husband of 52 years, Donald of Palmetto, four sons; Alan (Kathy) of Franklin, IN, Kevin of Indianapolis, IN, Dennis of Myakka City, Gary (Heather) of Bradenton, daughter, Linda (David) Barth of Bradenton, son-in-law, Rick Roux of Bradenton, six brothers, three sisters, 13 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 7900 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota. Committal will follow at Sarasota National Cemetery. Additional services will be held at a later date in Indianapolis, IN.

The family request that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to TideWell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd, Sarasota, Fl. 34238 in her memory.

Mrs. Lorraine E. Turner

Lorraine E. Turner, 92, Bradenton, passed away Jan. 26, 2014. She was born icon on May 9, 1921 in Eau Claire, WI to the late Alfred and Elsie (Heike) Sather.

She worked for Uniroyal Tire Company in Eau Claire, WI. Lorraine moved to Manatee County in 1985 settling in Colony Cove for a while before moving to Bradenton. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bradenton, and a volunteer for Agape Flights when it was at the Sarasota Airport.

Lorraine was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Laliberte. She is survived by her loving husband, Art F. Turner of Bradenton, four sons; Thomas A. (Judy) Laliberte of Palmetto, Mark Alan Turner, David Arthur (Connie) Turner, James Lowell Turner all of Eau Claire, WI, two daughters; Beth Ellen Rataczak of Madison, WI, Joy Marie Turner of Macau, China, 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and brothers and sisters in Christ.

Services will be held at a later date in Eau Claire, WI.

The family request that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Bradenton in her memory.
