Mrs. Mary Margaret Rinck Rideout

(Mary) Margaret Rinck Rideout, 95, Bradenton, passed away Sept. 16, 2014. She was born icon July 1, 1919 in Crescent City, FL to the late Alphonse Joseph & Sarah (Anderson) Rinck. After graduating from high school she attended and graduated from Florida State College for Women where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Music and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She went on to attend the Union Theological Seminary School of Music in New York City where she studied with Dr. Clarence Dickinson.

She married the Rev. Mr. Arthur Wilson Rideout in 1941 and moved with him through brief pastorates in Rockledge and Weirsdale FL and Mendota IL before moving to Bradenton, where the family lived from 1951 to 1957. While living in Bradenton she was a member of the Music Club that met at the Bradenton Women’s Club.

In 1957 the family moved to Palatka where Arthur was Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church for 26½ years. Margaret was Church Organist and Choir Director for that church for 14 years, and perhaps her most treasured accomplishment was being named a Life Member of the Women of the Church and so honored in 1988. She also served St. Marks Episcopal Church as Organist and Director of Music for several years. An important service to the community was her work as Putnam County’s first Juvenile Court Counselor, being appointed by the former Honorable Judge William E. In 1983 Arthur began a new ministry as Interim Pastor of various churches who were seeking a new fulltime pastor. He served four churches, for approximately a year each, near their new home in Jacksonville. Margaret then joyfully moved the household to manses in Weirsdale and Jasper, before returning to Jacksonville where Arthur served two more churches in this capacity. As always, Margaret was the one who learned all the new names and stood at his side with gentle reminders.

Margaret and Arthur began their true retirement in 1995 when they moved to Westminster Shores in St. Petersburg. Her final move was in 2012 when she moved back to Bradenton, into the Westminster Towers to be nearer to family.

Margaret was predeceased by Arthur, her loving husband of 65 years, in 2006, and is survived by her two children, Phillip Rinck Rideout (and wife Pat) of Palmetto and Dr. Sarah Rideout Slight (and husband Jac) of Venice; three grandchildren: Amanda (and husband Chad) Boone, Lacey (and husband Brady) Benigas, and Justin Rideout; and by five precious great-grandchildren: Morgan, Caden, and Logan Boone, and Kaison and Karis Benigas.
