James C. “Jimbo” Lawson

James C. “Jimbo” Lawson, 68, of Palmetto, passed away February 6, 2015.

James was a lifelong resident of Manatee County and a Palmetto High graduate. He served in the Marines and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. He also owned Lawson’s Marine and worked for Tropicana for 18 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James J. Lawson and Antoinette Courtney-Lawson. James is survived by his beloved wife Pamela; children, James (Jackie) C. Lawson, II, Nathan (Ashley) Lawson, Lori (Danny) Stott and Danny Molter; grandchildren, Tyler, Ashley, Doyle, Jace, Bobby, Grace, Timothy, Garrett, Jacob, Jacquelyn, Sarah, Julian (Lawson), Wyatt (Molter) and Cheyenne.

A special thanks to family friend and James’s caregiver Beatriz Herrera and Susan Cooper of Baycare Home Care.

Inurnment will take place at Sarasota National Cemetery at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, February 25, 2015.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the WoundedWarrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675 or www.woundedwarriorproject.org.

Mr. William Earl Conaway

William Earl Conaway, 76 of Palmetto, passed away on February 11, 2015 at the Complex Care Hospital at Ridgelake in Sarasota.

William was born icon on April 25, 1938 in Sterrin, Illinois to the late Arniel Lee and May Almaria (Dailey) Conaway. He moved to Manatee County in the mid 1960’s coming from Illinois.

He worked as a fork lift operator and many other positions for over 20 years at Tropicana in Bradenton before his retirement.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sharon Trudell Conaway of Palmetto, daughter, Tina Marie Conaway of Ft. Myers, Florida, and many extended family members and friends.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Mr. Joseph Francis Premo

Joseph Francis Premo, 87, Bradenton, passed away February 9, 2015 at his residence.

Joseph was born icon October 10, 1927 in Zilwaukee, Michigan to the late John F. and Adelia J. (Manor) Premo. He served with the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II.

His first job was as a teen delivering telegrams for Western Union on a bike. Later on in life he was the owner of H&B Lawn and Garden in Saginaw, Michigan for many years. During his lifetime Joseph held many different positions and will be remembered by his family as a Jack of all trades and a master of none. He has been a winter resident of Bradenton for 18 years and a permanent resident for the last few years coming from Saginaw.

He was predeceased by his wife Mary in 1993, twin sister, Joann Joyce Giacoma, and a brother, Clarence Premo, and is survived by his longtime companion of 18 years, Carole Firstenberger of Bradenton, eleven daughters; Loren and her husband Gary Blaisdell of Freeland, Michigan, Geraldine Strobel of Bradenton, Florida, Deborah Bauer of Bradenton, Florida, Brenda Samson of Saginaw, Michigan, JoAnn Anderson of Bradenton, Florida, Coy E. Campbell of Hemlock, Michigan, Helen and her husband Kurt Petre of Hemlock, Michigan, Bonnie J. and her husband Larry Kade of Hemlock, Michigan, Patty J. Striker of Lakeview, Michigan, Michelle J. and her husband Todd Suppes of Merrill, Michigan, Bridgett M. Premo and her companion Josh Wrisley of Lakeview, Michigan, two sisters; Barbara and her husband Jack Kesler of Deltona, Florida, Betty and her husband John Marx of Gaylord, Michigan, twenty-eight grandchildren and over twenty-five great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Joseph’s life will be held at 5 P.M. on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Shannon Funeral Home Westview Chapel, 5610 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton, Florida. Further services will be held at a later date and time in Saginaw, Michigan under the direction of the W.I. Case Funeral Home with inurnment to take place at the Richland Township Cemetery in Richland Township, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to TideWell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Florida 34238 in his memory.

Rev. Dr. Paul Wesley Chaney

Rev. Dr. Paul Wesley Chaney, of Sarasota (Manatee County), Florida, passed away on January 31, 2015 at the Westminster Towers and Shores Healthcare Center in Bradenton.

Rev. Chaney was born icon in Longview, Texas to the late Wesley Arlin and Madrid Pauline (Davenport) Chaney. During his lifetime he had several different career paths. Working as a retail buyer and store owner, worked as a realtor, and country club manager.

In 1985 he married the former Martha McCabe. They lived in Bradenton and started attending the First Presbyterian Church of Bradenton where they were very active in the congregation. In 1987 he was elected as Elder and was elected clerk of Session in 1988, and served on the Session in the class of 1990.

At this time the pastor of the church, Rev. Ernie Gilmore, Jr. became ill and took retirement. Rev. Chaney after some time was hired as Assistant to the Pastor. At this time he gave up his real estate brokerage business to return to school.

Then at the age of 58 he returned to school to finish his education in order to obtain his Bachelor’s Degree that he had started almost 40 years earlier. In 1992 he received that Bachelor’s Degree from Eckerd College, he then went on to obtain his Masters of Divinity a the Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia where he graduated from in 1994 at the age of 62, with the support and assistance of the First Presbyterian Church of Bradenton. Rev. Chaney then also went on to attend and receive his Doctorate from the United Theological Seminary in 2002 at the age of 70.

Following his graduation from Columbia Theological Seminary, Rev. Chaney served as the Associate Pastor for First Presbyterian Church in Bonita Springs, Florida from 1994 until 2000.

He was predeceased by his sister, Betty Pedrick, and is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Martha A. Chaney of Sarasota, Florida, four dear daughters; Mary E. Reda and her husband Joseph of Florida, Graceann M. Chaney of Florida, Paula Whitman and her husband Ron of Beggs, Oklahoma, Shelly J. of Carmel, California., six precious grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, one brother, David Chaney and his wife, Sheila of Olympia, Washington, two nephews, two nieces and many extended family members and brothers and sisters in Christ.

A Celebration of Rev. Dr. Paul W. Chaney’s life will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at the Whitfield Presbyterian Church, 7045 North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, Florida with the Rev. Jane Jones-Norris officiating. Further services and interment will take place at a later date in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he grew up.

The family request that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to either the Walk to End Alzheimer’s (Team Paul at https://act.alz.org/site/TR/Walk2015/FL-FloridaGulfCoast?team_id=256921&pg=team&fr_id=7398), the Whitfield Presbyterian Church of Sarasota, Florida, or TideWell Hospice in his memory.

Mr. James Douglas Reisinger

James Douglas Reisinger, of Bradenton, died peacefully on Wednesday night, January 28, 2015 at Riviera Palms in Palmetto .

James was originally from Cleveland Ohio. He was a Simple Man. He loved his family, baseball, fishing, his dog Rusty, going out to eat, and old movies, especially John Wayne. He was also a long time member of the Moose Lodge in Bradenton.

Husband of the late Betty Meinke, Evelyn Brosky, and Trudy Pax. He was a beloved Father and is survived by his children: Shiela Rae Benedict(Clifford),Wayne Douglas(Sandra), step children Sue Brosky, Bruce Brosky(Arlene),Jim Brosky(Christina), Paul Brosky(Kathy),Patricia Brosky, Cecelia Knotts(Douglas),and Judy Palino(George), grandfather to 25 and great-grandfather to 38. Loving Brother to Jean Bell of Forrestville, PA.

James was predeceased by his children; Joyce Kornfeld and Randy Lee and step children; Barbara Pax-Rhoden and Dale Pax.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 O'clock Wednesday, February 4th 2014 will a Gathering for the hour preceding from 12:00 to 1:00pm.

James will be cremated as per his wishes.

Mrs. Kevin Marlene Kuncewicz

Kevin Marlene Kuncewicz, 55, Bradenton, Florida, passed away January 27,2015 at the TideWell Hospice House in Bradenton.

Kevin was born icon on February 17, 1959 in Huntington, West Virginia to James Carrol and Rachel (Hively) Holley.

She is survived by her son, William Benjamin Carmer of California, mother, Rachel Hively, four brothers, four sisters, and many extended family members and friends.

Private family services will be held at a later date and time.

Miss Lois M. McKee

Lois M. McKee, 75 of Bradenton, passed away on January 26, 2015.

Lois was born icon on August 18, 1939 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late James W. Sr. and Margaret (Short) McKee. She after high school went to work for Standard Steel in Pennsylvania as a secretary and retired from there over 30 years later as the only female steel sales representative. She was also a former member of the Saints Simon and Jude Catholic Church in Blairsville, PA.

Lois moved to Bradenton, ten years ago coming from Emmaus, Pennsylvania. She was a member of the Saints Peter & Paul the Apostles Catholic Church in Bradenton.

She is survived by her brother and his wife, James W. and Leslie McKee, Jr. of Katey, Texas, and many extended family members and friends.

There will be no local services held in Bradenton. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, 2015 from 6-8 P.M. at the Ferguson Funeral Home, 25 W. Market Street, Blairsville, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday at the Saints Simon and Jude Catholic Church in Blairsville. Interment will follow at the Saints Simon and Jude Cemetery in Blairsville, PA.
