Clem Sementuh

Clem Sementuh, 75, of Englewood (Charlotte County), Fla., died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006.

He was born icon Oct. 5, 1930, in North Charleroi, Pa.

Mr. Sementuh served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a manager for 32 years at Sherman-Williams Paint Company, and he was also self-employed in the Englewood area for the past 20 years as a paint refinisher. Mr. Sementuh was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Rotonda West, Fla.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, David of Claridge, Pa.; daughter, Victoria Daley of Jeannette, Pa.; and grandchildren, Cory Sementuh, Rachel, Neal and Amelia Daley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Zachary and Rosie Sementuh; brothers, John and Frank; and two sisters, Mary and Victoria.

Visitation will be from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006, at Lemon Bay Funeral Homes in Englewood. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, at Faith Lutheran Church in Rotonda. Burial will be held in Charleroi, Pa. Officiating will be the Rev. Patricia Large, pastor from the church.

Memorial donations may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church Building Fund, 551 Rotonda Blvd., Rotonda West, FL 33947.

John G. Gantzer Jr.

John Gilbert Gantzer Jr., 60, of Owasso, Okla., died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006. Arrangements are by Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.

Randy C. Singer

Randy C. Singer, 62, of Nocatee, Fla., passed away Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006.

He was born icon Feb. 26, 1944, in Indianapolis, Ind., and was the son of Robert "Bo" and Ruth Hollingsworth Singer.

Mr. Singer was a photographer for the Indianapolis Star, The Evansville newspaper, the Cleveland, Ohio, newspapers, the Tampa Tribune and the Fort Myers News-Press. He won several awards for his art. He worked at Fleamster Flea Market in Fort Myers, Fla., and loved photography, especially pictures of animals and nature.

Mr. Singer is survived by an aunt and an uncle, both of Indiana; and five cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.

No services will be conducted.

ohn A. Behrens

Ret. FDNY Capt. John A. Behrens, 87, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, at Deep Creek Rehab & Nursing Center in Port Charlotte, Fla.

He was born icon Jan 29, 1919, in Brooklyn, N.Y.

John served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He retired from the fire department of New York City (FDNY). Captain John moved to Punta Gorda with his wife, Hertha, from Huntington, Long Island, N.Y., in 1976. He was a Mason and former member of the Punta Gorda Isles Yacht Club.

John was preceded in death by the love of his life, Hertha M. Behrens on Dec. 16, 1999.

He is survived by his beloved friend and caregiver of 14 years, Patricia L. Fetzer; her daughter and son, Lisa M. Taylor and Chris Hughson, all of Punta Gorda; six nieces and nephews; and longtime personal friends, John Picano of Cape Coral, Fla., William and Sandy Dobie of Port Charlotte, Vinnie and Wendy Segretto of Spring Hill, Fla., and Carol and John Atmonavage of Glassboro, N.J.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at Roberson Funeral Home Punta Gorda Chapel. Cathy Shiel of First Church of Christ Scientists, Port Charlotte, will officiate. Committal services will be private.

Memorial contributions are requested to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), 424 E. 92nd St. New York, NY 10128.

Raymond N. Vitullo

Dr. Raymond N. Vitullo, M.D., 48, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, at home.

He was born icon Aug. 10, 1958, in Elizabeth, N.J.

Dr. Vitullo graduated from John Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md., in 1981, and received his medical degree from Tufts Medical School in Boston in 1985. He completed a medical internship and residency in 1988 at Harvard Medical School and did his cardiac fellowship at Duke University in North Carolina in 1990. Dr. Vitullo was a teaching professor at Duke University in 1991. He lived in Delaware before moving to Punta Gorda six years ago. Dr. Vitullo worked at Charlotte Heart and Vascular Institute in Port Charlotte for three years, after which he was a cardiologist in private practice for the past two years. He was a member of the American Medical Association, and he belonged to the Florida Medical Society, the Charlotte County Medical Society and the North American Society of Pacing and Electro-Physiology. He was also a fellow of the American College of Cardiologists and the American Chest Physicians.

Dr. Vitullo is survived by two children, a daughter, Adrienne Vitullo and a son, Daniel Vitullo, and their mother, Elizabeth Vitullo; a sister, Dr. Angela Hall, PysD, and her husband, Dr. Jeff Hall, D.M.D.; his companion, Alexandra Engstrom; and a niece and a nephew.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday Nov. 5, 2006, at Werson Funeral Home, 635 N. Wood Ave., Linden, N.J. A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday Nov. 6, 2006, at St. John the Apostle R.C. Church in Clark-Linden, N.J. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia, N.J.

Frederick P. Dillon Jr.

Frederick P. "Fred" Dillon Jr., 83, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Friday, Nov. 3, 2006, at Charlotte Regional Medical Center in Punta Gorda.

He was born icon Sept. 25, 1923, in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Fred graduated from Cleveland Heights High School in 1942, in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. He went on to attend Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, until the time he felt the call to serve his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Lurlie Ann Forgette on May 24, 1948, and they were blessed with 58 years together. After serving in the military, Fred joined Pennsylvania-Central Airline in 1947, which became Capital Airlines in 1949 and later United Airlines, from which Fred retired on Oct. 1, 1985, after 43 years of dedicated service. Fred was a member of the Masons, Punta Gorda Elks, Italian-American Club, American Legion and president of United Airlines Retiree Association of South Florida for two years. Fred and his wife moved to Punta Gorda from Buffalo, N.Y., at the time of his retirement. He spent 21 wonderful years with his devoted wife in retirement, where they loved spending their time enjoying friends, family and dancing whenever they had the chance.

Fred is survived by his wife, Lurlie Ann; sons, Fred (Paula) of San Clemente, Calif., and Anthony of Buffalo; brothers, Merrill Dillon and Scott (Mary Jane) Dillon; grandchildren, Frederick Dillon IV, Pamela (Dillon) Dorr; Michael Dillon; and great-grandsons, Seth and Nathanael Door.

A celebration of Mr. Dillon's life will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, at Friendship United Methodist Church, 12275 Paramount Dr., Punta Gorda.

Alexander E. McLeod

Alexander E. McLeod, 74, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died Friday, Nov. 3, 2006, at Peace River Regional Medical Center, Port Charlotte.

He was born icon Aug. 28, 1932, in Ridgewood, N.J.

Mr. McLeod served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired automobile salesman, and moved to Punta Gorda from Barngate, N.J. Mr. McLeod was a member of American Legion Post 103 of Punta Gorda, and the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by a sister, Adelaide M. Spanton of Naples, Fla.; three stepdaughters, Nancy Harding of Tennessee, Mary Lee Edwards of Pennsylvania and Beth Marks of Canada; a niece, Paulette Ford of Kansas; and a nephew, Peter Sipp Jr. of North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Marie McLeod.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, N.J. Friends may visit online at www.robersonfh.com to sign the guest book and extend condolences to the family.

Grace A. Mills

Grace A. Mills, 82, of Port Charlotte, Fla., and formerly of Jericho, Vt., died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006.

She was born icon May 7, 1924 in Winooski, Vt., to Peiatro and Rosetta (DeFino) Trono.

Mrs. Mills was owner of Riverside Store and Campground in Jericho, and for many years she was a volunteer fire phone operator for Underhill-Jericho Fire Department. She was a member of H2U of Port Charlotte.

She is survived by her son, Dwyer Mills and his fiancée, Frances McArthur of Bradenton, Fla.; her daughter, Dodie Mills of Port Charlotte; and a nephew, Peter Trono of Pearblossom, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merton D. Mills; and her brother, Joseph Trono.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, 2006, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 21505 Augusta Ave., Port Charlotte. Funeral services and Burial will be in Winooski.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105

Arnold Pearson

Arnold "Arnie" Pearson, 80, of Nokomis, Fla., and formerly of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006, at his home.

He was born icon Feb. 12, 1926, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., to Arnold and Lilly Pearson.

Mr. Pearson was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy as an aviation ordnanceman.

Arnie is survived by his loving family, including his companion of 18 years, Joyce McLane of Nokomis; son, Raymond (Donna) Pearson of Gloucester, Mass.; granddaughters, Jenifer and Jessica; and sisters, Rita Richey and Betty Ann Bunts.

There will be no local services.

Burial will be at Niagara Falls Memorial Cemetery, Niagara Falls, at a later date.

Mavis F. Thomas

Mavis F. Thomas , 96, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, at Peace River Regional Medical Center, Port Charlotte.

She was born icon Aug. 14, 1910, in Guyana.

Mavis worked in hospitals in New York City, N.Y., for many years and retired as a registered nurse. She moved from New York to Port Charlotte in 2005.

She is survived by a niece, Gwendolyn Freeman of Port Charlotte; two sisters; one brother; and several other nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006, at Roberson Funeral Home, Port Charlotte. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, at Roberson Funeral Home, Port Charlotte Chapel. The Rev. Douglas Zipperer of Port Charlotte United Methodist Church will officiate. Sandra Stillman

Sandra Stillman, 68, of Englewood, Fla., (Charlotte County), died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006.

She was born icon April 9, 1938, in Medford, Mass., to James and Beatrice (Yeomans) MacDonald.

Mrs. Stillman moved to the Englewood area 20 years ago from Milton, Vt. She was a member of the Red Hat Society in Port Charlotte, Fla.

Mrs. Stillman is survived by her husband, Roger; two sons, R. Allyn Stillman of Portsmouth, N.H., and J. Scott Stillman of Fairfax, Vt.; two daughters, Heather Hayden of Concord, N.H., and Heidi Yetton of Clarksville, Tenn.; a brother, James MacDonald of Phoenix, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren, Melissa and Matthew Yetton, Ian Daniels, Bobby, Jennie, Mark, Allyson, Addison and Lucy Stillman and Caitlin and Cameron Hayden; and one great-granddaughter, Aubree Ryder.

There will be no local services.

Daniel A. Brozovich

U.S. Army Sgt. FC Daniel A. Brozovich, who died in Iraq Oct. 18, 2006, the son of Gloria and James Pollock of Port Charlotte, Fla., will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 21505 Augusta Ave., Port Charlotte, followed by a reception at Presbyterian Towers, 2295 Aaron St., Port Charlotte.

Carson C. Peck Jr.

Carson C. Peck Jr., 82, of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Pennington, N.J., died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne, Pa.

Mr. Peck was born icon Aug. 28, 1924, in Dallas, Texas, and grew up in San Mateo, Calif. He was a graduate of Princeton University, class of 1946, and served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II attaining the rank of lieutenant junior grade. He retired from a long career in the brokerage business in San Francisco, Calif. Mr. Peck considered his family to be his greatest accomplishment, and he will be deeply and sorely missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Isabelle Mears Peck; his son, Chris (Diane) Peck of Palo Alto, Calif., his daughter, the Rev. Nina (Jim) Reeder of Lawrenceville, N.J.; his son, Arthur (Kirsten) Peck of Orinda, Calif., his daughter, Nila (Mark) Eisenach of Princeton, N.J.; 10 grandchildren, Jessica (Matthew) Hurst, Jim Reeder; Annin, Grace, Katie and William Peck, Carson, Louise, Helen and Sarah Eisenach; two step-grandchildren, Desiree Pollock and Joseph Holdnak III; and four step-great-grandchildren, Emily Pollock, Ryan Pollock, Abigail Holdnak and Joseph Holdnak IV.

Funeral Services for Mr. Peck will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2006, at Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church, 1039 Lawrence Road (Route 206), Lawrenceville, N.J., with the Rev. Dr. David Davis of the Nassau Presbyterian Church officiating. Private entombment will be in the Ewing Church Cemetery Mausoleum, Ewing, N.J.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrances be sent to the Pastor's Fund, c/o The Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church, 1039 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.

Estrella D. Casas, 90, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006. Arrangements are by Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services.

William E. Corbin Jr.

William E. Corbin Jr., 64, of Bonita Springs passed away on Tuesday Nov. 7, 2006.

He was a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Corbin was a longtime resident of Bonita Springs, Fla., and was the former owner of Walters Meat Market in Naples, Fla.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of Bonita Springs; daughters Maureen Corbin of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Danita (Barry) Luzadder of Brownsboro, Ala.; sons Shawn (Suzi) Corbin of Pt. Charlotte, and Aaron Corbin of Alabama; and six grandchildren.

Services will be private.

Laszlo Pingiczer, 78, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, at his home. Arrangements are by ICS Cremation Society, Cape Coral, Fla.

Carol Ann Thalmann

Carol Ann Thalmann, 63, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006.

She was born icon April 4, 1943, in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Carol was a Realtor for Century 21 in Pennsylvania and was a member of the Pocono Mountain Realtors Association for over 20 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Tannersville, Pa. Carol was also a member of the Eagles Auxiliary in Stroudsburg, Pa. She moved to the Punta Gorda area in 2005 from Stroudsburg.

Carol is survived by her husband of 43 years, James Thalmann of Punta Gorda; a son, James (Ann) Thalmann of Punta Gorda; daughters, Karen Thalmann of Punta Gorda, and Kimberly (Stephen) DeVito of Saylorsburg, Pa.; her parents, Bronyslaw and Helen Klepacki of Toms River, N.J.; grandchildren, Andrew, Aleshia, Daniel and Benjamin; and a sister, Nancy (Jack) Merinsky of Toms River. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Alexander, in 1998.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, at the Kays-Ponger Funeral Home, 635 E. Marion Ave., Punta Gorda. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, Deacon Ed Lundy officiating.
