Herb Bauck

Herb Bauck, 62, of Englewood, Fla., died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at his residence.

Born on Sept. 13, 1939, in Camden, N.J., to Herbert and Ruth (Schuman) Bauck, he had been a resident of Englewood for three years coming form St. Petersburg, Fla.

Mr. Bauck was the owner of American Sun Roof in St. Petersburg, Fla., and after moving to Englewood he was the owner of Plaza Storage in El Jobean.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn M. Bauck of Englewood, Fla.; mother, Ruth Bauck of Haddon Heights, N.J.; one son, Jason Bauck of Englewood; stepdaughter, Shaneen Hilligenn of El Jobean, Fla.; stepson, Clint Maxwell of Vancouver, Canada; one sister, Margaret Chevalier of Haddon Heights, N.J.; two brothers, Michael Bauck of Marlton, N.J., and Richard Bauck of South Hampton, N.J.; and one grandson.

Family will receive friends at the residence, 1000 Lee St., Englewood, on Tuesday, March 19 after 1 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Animal Rescue of Venice Inc., P.O. Box 563, Nokomis, FL 34274 in memory of Herb.

Englewood Community Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Delores J. Ludwigsen

Delores J. Ludwigsen, 59, of Arcadia, Fla., died Friday, March 15, 2002, at her residence.

She was born icon Jan. 15, 1943, in For Myers, Fla., and was a lifelong resident of Arcadia. She was a behavioral program specialist working at the Gulf Coast Center in Fort Myers, and for 20 years was a psychiatric aide at G. Pierce Wood Memorial Hospital in Arcadia. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed gardening and crocheting.

She is survived by her husband, C. William Ludwigsen of Arcadia; two sons, Dan (wife, Gina) Hannah of Fort Myers and Wesley Hannah of Arcadia; two daughters, Wendy (husband, Willie) Langdon of Bradenton, Fla., and Sandy (husband, Mike) Casady of Arcadia; a sister, Ruby (husband, Russell) Harrison of Zolfo Springs, Fla.; three brothers, Orval R. (wife, Grace) Cobb of Arcadia, Wilbur M. (wife, Deloris) Cobb of Zolfo Springs and James E. Cobb of Arcadia; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2002, at Robarts Funeral Home, Arcadia Chapel. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. James Brantley officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Arcadia.

Robarts Funeral Home, Arcadia Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Otis T. Burcham

Otis T. Burcham, 92, of Port Charlotte, died Thursday, March 14, 2002. Local arrangements by Kays-Ponger/Royal Palm Funeral Homes, Port Charlotte Chapel.

Douglas Richard Paterson

Douglas Richard Paterson, 84, died Friday, March 15, 2002. Arrangements by National Cremation Society, Port Charlotte.

Marion Graves

Marion Bahr Graves, 79, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died March 3, 2002, in Punta Gorda.

She was born icon in Milwaukee, Wis., and moved here seven years ago from Hales Corners, Wis. Mrs. Graves was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ

in Hales Corners and the Hales Corners Women's Club.

She is survived by her husband, Howard of Punta Gorda; son, Clifton Graves of Denver, Colo.; daughter, Kathryn Mulcahy of Springfield, Mass.; and five grandchildren.

Memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 7, in the chapel of Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date in Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

James T. Piskura

James T. Piskura, 85, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died March 1, 2002, in Mariner Health of Port Charlotte.

Mr. Piskura was born icon in Brookfield, Conn., and moved to Port Charlotte three years ago from Danbury, Conn. He was self-employed in the well drilling business. He was a life member of the VFW post in Danbury, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of San Antonio Catholic Church, Port Charlotte.

He is survived by his wife, Ida L. Piskura; son, Richard J. Piskura of Port Charlotte; brothers, John M. Piskura of Hollywood, Fla., and Adam Piskura of Danbury; sisters, Mary Zuchack of Brookfield and Susan Gouvia of Rye, N.Y.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Other surviving family members are Jeanne C. Piskura of Port Charlotte; and Paul Scalzo of Effingham, Ill.

Funeral services will be conducted in Danbury, with Burial in St. Peter's Cemetery, Danbury.

Beverley J. Seiss

Beverley Jean Seiss, 61, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died March 4, 2002, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte.

Born on Dec. 6, 1940 in Baltimore, Md., to Charles and Ethel Mae (Lopez) Leight, she had been a resident of Port Charlotte for three years, coming from Baltimore, Md. Mrs. Seiss was a receivables clerk for William Scottsman Group in White Marsh, Md., for 14 years and retired in 1999. She was a member of Gulf Cove United Methodist Church, Crafty Ladies and the Lemon Bay Women's Club.

She was predeceased by her husband John in 2000.

Survivors include her daughter, Shelly L. Seiss of Port Charlotte; son, John Seiss, Jr. of Baltimore; a sister, Janice Kessler of Dover, Pa.; stepfather, William Griffith of Baltimore; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. service Thursday, March 7, at the Englewood Community Funeral Home, 3070 S. McCall Road, with the Rev. Scott Farman, pastor of the Gulf Cove United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Parkwood Cemetery in Baltimore. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2100 S. Tamiami Trail, Suite A, Venice, FL 34293.

Ruth R. Stein

Ruth R. Stein, 87, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away March 3, 2002.

Born Feb. 28, 1915, in Westport, Conn., she moved to this area in 1982 from there. Ruth retired in 1979 as a nurse for the town of Westport public health system. She was a member of the Retired Educators of Westport and the Temple Shalom of Port Charlotte.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jacob Stein; two sons, Richard E. (Karen) Stein of Westport and David S. (Jane) Stein of Stuart, Fla.; a sister, Bettie Roshkind of Port Charlotte; a brother, Morris Shilepsky of West Palm Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held in Westport at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1101 N. Lake Destiny Road, Maitland, FL 32751; or American Heart Association, P.O. Box 21475, St. Petersburg, FL 33742.

David Walker

David Walker, 56, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away March 4, 2002, at his Sarasota County residence.

Mr. Walker was born icon Aug. 30, 1945, in Washington, D.C., to Eugene and Marion (Bickford) Walker. He moved to Port Charlotte, Village of Holiday Lake, in 1980 from South Weymouth, Mass., and had lived in North Port, Fla., the last 10 years. David had been employed at the Englewood Kmart for more than 18 years.

He is survived by his mother, Marion Walker of Port Charlotte.

A graveside inurnment service will be conducted at a later date at Gulf Pines Memorial Park. Lemon Bay Funeral Home and Cremation Service will handle the arrangements.

Roy M. Marshall

Maj. Gen. Roy M. Marshall (Ret.), 78, of Englewood (Charlotte County), Fla., passed away March 4, 2002, at Bon Secours Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Venice, Fla.

Mr. Marshall was born icon April 23, 1923, in Columbus, Ind. He was a retired major general with two stars in the U.S. Air Force; a World War II fighter pilot; and retired squadron, wing and 10 A F commander. He was a member of Pine Lake Country Club in Orchard Lake, Mich., for more than 35 years. Mr. Marshall was an executive with McMannis John & Adams Advertising, as well as Ross Roy Advertising, both in Michigan. He was a member of the Ad Craft Club of Detroit, Mich., and the Detroit Advertising Association. He was also the owner/operator of the Great Dane Restaurant in Farmington Hills, Mich., for more than 20 years. Following retirement, he and his wife, Angeline M. (Hill), moved to Englewood from Birmingham, Mich., in 1982. An avid golfer, Marshall was a member of the Myakka Pines Golf Club for more than 20 years.

Mr. Marshall was preceded in death by his wife on Jan. 11, 1998. Surviving are sons, Gregory S. (Debbie) Marshall of West Bloomfield, Mich., and Steven L. Marshall of Englewood; grandchildren, Lee James Marshall and Jessica Ann Marshall; and very special friend, Nancye Lawson of Englewood.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at the Lemon Bay Funeral Home, Englewood Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, March 8, at the funeral home, with interment following at Gulf Pines Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, Charlotte County Unit, 22107 Elmira Blvd., Port Charlotte, FL 33952.

Howard R. Osborne

Howard R. Osborne, 81, of North Port, Fla., died March 2, 2002.

He was born icon July 16, 1920, in Slippery Rock, Pa., and moved to North Port in 1979 from Pittsburgh, Pa. Mr. Osborne retired as plant superintendent at Dravo Corp. in Pittsburgh. He was a former city councilman in North Port and a member of the Elks, also in North Port. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Barnyak (and son-in-law, Earl Barnyak) of North Port, Fla.; grandson David Orwig of Pittsburgh; and great-granddaughter, Stephanie Orwig of Pittsburgh.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, March 8, at Venice Memorial Gardens, Venice, Florida.

Memorial donations maybe made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238; or American Cancer Society, 22107 Elmira Blvd., Port Charlotte, FL 33952.

Robert M. Baker

Robert M. Baker, 57, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died March 4, 2002, at Charlotte Regional Medical Center in Punta Gorda. Arrangements by Roberson Funeral Home & Crematory, Punta Gorda Chapel.

Mary E. Fogg

Mary E. Fogg, 56, of North Port, Fla., died March 2, 2002, in Venice Hospice House, Venice, Fla. Arrangements by the James A. McKee Funeral Homes, North Port.

Clifford K. Miller

Clifford K. Miller of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away March 2, 2002. Arrangements are by National Cremation Society of Port Charlotte, Fla.

Wallace C. Pyle

Wallace C. Pyle, 77, of North Port, Fla., died March 3, 2002. Arrangements by National Cremation Society of Port Charlotte, Fla.

Angelica Rodriguez

Angelica Rodriguez, 86, of North Port, Fla., died March 2, 2002, at Quality Health Care Center, North Port. Arrangements by Roberson Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Charlotte Chapel, Port Charlotte, Fla.

Thomas Paul Fristik Jr.

Thomas Paul Fristik Jr., 78, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002.

He was born icon Sept. 19, 1923, to Thomas and Grace (Syriak) Fristik in Westfield, Mass. He enlisted in the Army Air Force Dec. 20, 1941, and served as a pilot in the Pacific Theater until the end of World War II. Later, he was assigned to the state department in Germany, where he survived a sabotaged B-29 plane crash.

In Massachusetts and Connecticut, he was a building contractor, real estate broker and CPCU insurance agent. He was chief underwriting officer of Aetna Insurance Company, later acquired by Connecticut General, and a director of Great American Insurance Company in Cincinnati, Ohio, before retiring to Charlotte County, Fla., in 1976.

He was preceded in death by two wives, an only son and his parents. His sister, Ruth Salva of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away in 2001. He is survived by his niece, Carolyn Rondeau, of Port Charlotte; a nephew, Peter Frenquelle; and loving companion, Jacqueline Nordell and her children and eight grandchildren. He will be remembered for his love of wildlife and his tree farm and tractors.

According to his wishes, his ashes will be laid to rest in the Gulf of Mexico. Memorials may be sent to the Peace River Wildlife Center Inc.

Arrangements are by ICS Cremation Society Inc., Harbor Heights, Fla.

Frank W. Smith

Frank W. Smith, 79, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at Charlotte Regional Medical Center in Punta Gorda, Fla.

Mr. Smith was born icon Dec. 8, 1922, in Coventry, R.I. He came to Port Charlotte 11 years ago from Cranston, R.I. He worked as a salesman for a sporting goods company. He was a member of the American Legion Post 110 and past president of the Rhode Island Club, both in Port Charlotte; a member of the Englewood Beach Club; a member of the Masonic Lodge as a third-degree mason in Coventry, R.I.; and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He is survived by his wife, Carmela Smith; two daughters, Linda Smith, of Riverview, Fla., Bette Poutre of Bellevue, Neb.; one son-in-law, David Poutre of Bellevue, Neb.; one brother, Raymond Smith of Peachtree City, Ga.; one sister, Barbara Smith of Coventry, R.I.; two grandchildren, Allison Poutre and Christopher Poutre, both of Bellevue; and two nieces.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at Paul Schelm Funeral Home in Port Charlotte. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at Paul Schelm Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held by the Masons/American Legion at a later day in Rhode Island. Burial will be at Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery in Exeter, R.I.

William Moine Walls

William Moine Walls, 94, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte, Fla.

Born July 14, 1907, in Elnora, Ind., he moved to Punta Gorda in 1972 from North Manchester, Ind. He was a paper maker with Container Corporation in Wabash, Ind., for many years before retiring. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Punta Gorda.

He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Madeline; daughters, Carol L. Kelly of Punta Gorda and Evelyn Hiers of Fairmount, Ind.; a son, Joe Walls of Wabash, Ind.; a sister, Doris Killion of Plainville, Ind.; a brother, Raymond Walls of Washington, Ind.; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, with funeral services at 2 p.m. at Roberson Funeral Home, Punta Gorda Chapel. Interment will follow at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens, Punta Gorda.

Arrangements are by Roberson Funeral Home, Punta Gorda Chapel.

Arline Rita Bragg

Arline Rita Bragg, 68, of Englewood, Fla., died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers, Fla.

Born on Jan. 26, 1934, to Jack and Mary (Winterstein) Hamilton, she had been a resident of Englewood for six years, coming from Holland, N.Y. Mrs. Bragg was a loving wife, mother and homemaker for her family. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and attended St. Raphael Catholic Church.

She was predeceased by two sons, William and Charles West, and one brother, Henry Hamilton. She is survived by her husband, Deane E. Bragg of Englewood; two daughters, Sue Ann (Gerald) Cummins of Holland, N.Y. and Tina M. Kociszewski of South Wales, N.Y.; three sons, David P. West of Buffalo, N.Y., Timothy J. (Cinda) West of Holland, N.Y., and John (Theresa) Hopkins of Machias, N.Y.; one stepdaughter, Donna (Daryl) Bishop of Boston, N.Y.; three stepsons, Deane (Linda) Bragg, Kenneth (Beth) Bragg and Timothy (Judy) Bragg, all of Machias, N.Y.; three sisters, Doris Matlock of Green Forest, Ark., Margaret Van Buren of Salem, Ark., and Elaine Myers of Killbuck, N.Y.; one brother, John Hamilton of Kissimmee, Fla.; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A prayer service will be said at 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11 at the Englewood Community Funeral Home, 3070 S. McCall Road, with Father Morris Wells of St. Raphael Catholic Church officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lee Memorial Hospital, Cancer Unit, 2776 Cleveland Ave., Fort Myers, FL 33901 in memory of Mrs. Bragg.

Englewood Community Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
