David H. Sebora
Judge David H. Sebora, 85, of Waupaca, Wis., and Port Charlotte, Fla., died unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte.
David was born
Sept. 9, 1916, in Junction City, Wis., a son of Sylvester and Lorinda (Akey Grasshorn) Sebora. He graduated from Emerson High School in 1934, from Ripon College, Ripon, Wis., in 1938, and from the University of Wisconsin Law School, Madison, Wis., in 1940. From 1940 to 1955, David held a private law practice in the communities of Brillion, Wis., and Chilton, Wis., which focused primarily on personal injury, probate and real estate. In 1946 he was elected to a part time position as Calumet County's district attorney, a position he held until 1955. In 1955, he was elected to the position of Calumet County judge, a post he held for 24 years, presiding over civil, criminal and juvenile matters. He retired in 1980. Upon retirement, he was appointed by the state of Wisconsin to the position of Wisconsin reserve judge, presiding as acting judge in more than 26 counties throughout Wisconsin. He was recognized by the Wisconsin Supreme Court for his accomplishments upon his final retirement in 1996. David's diversified talents and endeavors continued to be exercised throughout his retirement years. He served as a legal columnist for Hoard's Dairyman, Fort Atkinson, Wis., a monthly farmers' publication. In 1993, he authored a book entitled "Informal Probate in Wisconsin." He was also an accomplished artist, who expanded his talents during his retirement years. An avid swimmer and boat enthusiast, David enjoyed the wonders of the Chain O'Lakes, Waupaca, for more than 70 years. His professional and civic affiliations included: member of the State Bar of Wisconsin; past president of the Wisconsin Juvenile Court Judges; past president of the Chamber of Commerce, Chilton; past board member of the Kettle Morraine Boy Scout Council; past chairman of the Calumet County Salvation Army; member of the Fraternal Order of the Elks; and member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He married Alice Bridgeman in May of 1946, the marriage ending in divorce. He married Maryann Koller on May 26, 1978.
He is survived by his wife, Maryann; five children, Nora Sebora of Stevens Point, Wis., David Sebora (Jennifer McGuire) of Neenah, Wis., Sheila (James) Lutiger of Hudson, Wis., Peg (Ron) San Felippo of Milwaukee, Wis., and Marc (Jenni) Sebora of Lester Prairie, Minn.; four grandchildren, Sarah Lutiger, Catie Lutiger, Caleb Sebora and Callie Sebora; nine stepchildren; and 13 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lester Sebora and Kenneth Sebora; and two sisters, Verna Anderson and Elayne Jantz.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior, Appleton, Wis. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. A reception will follow immediately after the memorial service.

Mary L. Beikirch
Mary Louise Beikirch, 65, of Englewood, Fla., passed away Jan. 21, 2002.
Born Nov. 10, 1936, in Rochester, N.Y., she moved to this area in 1978 from Rochester. She was a newspaper carrier for the Charlotte Sun.
She is survived by her sisters, Ethel Schmidt of Orlando, Fla., and Mildred Hartmann of Pinellas Park, Fla.; nieces, Kathleen Throne of Lubes of Melba, Idaho, and Robin Giesegh of Englewood; nephews, Paul, Carl and Danny Hartmann all of Rochester, N.Y.; many loving friends; and Tina, her faithful canine companion. She will be missed.

Joseph A. Sautner
Joseph Adam Sautner, 88, of Rotonda West, Fla., died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at Englewood Community Hospital, Englewood, Fla.
Born May 8, 1913 in New York, N.Y., to Joseph and Theresa (Kubicsek), he had been a resident of Rotonda West for 26 years, coming from Jackson, Mich. Mr. Sautner was an engineer for General Motors for 22 years and retired in 1976 from Harvard Industries in Jackson. He was a charter member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and the Knights of Columbus. He was the first usher and head usher for St. Francis until 1993. He is predeceased by a daughter, Sheila, in 1998.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Margaret "Peg" Sautner of Rotonda West; a sister, Theresa Kelly of San Antonio, Texas; and three grandchildren, James Pease of Lexington, Ky., Douglas Pease and Kathleen Pease, both of Chicago, Ill.
A Memorial Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish. Interment was private.

Jack J. Shinaver
Jack Joseph Shinaver, 72, of Englewood, Fla., passed away Jan. 21, 2002, at Kindred Hospital, St. Petersburg, Fla.
Mr. Shinaver was born
Aug. 28, 1929, in Toledo, Ohio, to Gerald and Lillian (Champagne) Shinaver. Jack and his wife, the former Dolores A. Mahler, moved from Toledo to Clearwater, Fla., in 1958, where they owned and operated several motels on Clearwater Beach. They then moved from Clearwater to Englewood in 1972, and founded the Indigo Isles Mobile Home Park. They were members of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Grove City, Fla., and Jack held memberships in BPO Elks Lodge 2378 and Loyal Order of Moose No. 1933, both in Englewood.
Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, Dolores of Englewood; a daughter, Dolores Bain (and son-in-law, Richard) of Mooresville, Ind.; grandchildren, Dean and Bryan Bain; and three great-grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and a great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Recreation Hall of Indigo Isles Mobile Home Park. Private inurnment will be at the convenience of the family.

She was born
Oct. 18, 1902, in Youghal County Cork, Ireland. She came to North Port in 1991 from the Bronx, NY. She was a member of San Pedro Catholic Church, North Port.
She is survived by her daughters, Marion (Fred) Stinner and Patricia (Edward) Lister, both of North Port; a sister, Delia Osborne of Fresh Meadows, N.Y.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mary Elizabeth Browning
Mary E. Browning, 74, of Romulus, N.Y., formerly of Arcadia, Fla., passed away Jan. 21, 2002, in New York.
She was born
Dec. 3, 1927, in Arcadia, and lived in New York since 1948. She retired as a telephone operator with the federal government at the Seneca Army Depot, Romulus, in 1988. She was of the Church of The Brethren faith.
Survivors are two brothers, S.A. Browning of Wauchula, Fla., and Z.A. Browning (and wife, Matilda) of Arcadia; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, (one hour prior to funeral service time) with funeral services to be conducted at 3 p.m., at the Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home Chapel, Arcadia. The Rev. James Longenecker will officiate. Burial will follow in Joshua Creek Cemetery, Arcadia.
Raymond C. Kain
Raymond C. Kain, 86, of Arcadia, Fla., died Jan. 22, 2002, at his residence.
He was born
Dec. 3, 1915, in Medaryville, Ind. He has been coming to Arcadia as a winter resident since 1973, from North Judson, Ind. He was a retired carpenter and millwright. He was a member of Brownville Baptist Church.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 43 years, Iris L. Kain of Arcadia; three sons, Charles Kain of Griffith, Ind., Dean Kain of Pensacola, Fla., and Raymond Bailey of Arizona; two daughters, Lucy Smith and Delores Barnett, both of Knox, Ind.; 21 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Kain; two brothers, Ralph and Hilbert Kain; and one sister, Velma.
Funeral services and Burial will be in North Judson.

William W. Chester
William Walter Chester, 68, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Feb. 3, 2002.
He was born
Dec. 29, 1933, to the late Robert Chester Sr. and Margaret Ward Chester. He served his country in the Naval Reserves. He retired as a TV repairman, and was a member of the American Legion, VFW Post 5690 and the DAV. He resided at IHS of Port Charlotte, where he enjoyed attending the music programs.
William leaves behind a daughter, Beverly Glisson of Loudon, N.H.; brother Robert Chester Jr. of Old Lyme, Conn.; niece, Susan Northam of East Hampton, Conn.; and nephew, Arthur Chester of Middletown, Conn.
Inurnment will be in the New Hampshire Veteran Cemetery. Arrangements are by Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services.
Alice K. Ellingboe
Alice K. Ellingboe, originally from Milwaukee, Wis., was called home to God on Jan. 20, 2002.
Born Dec. 16, 1899, she resided for the past 10 years at Royal Palm Retirement Center. Alice prided herself in her knowledge of human anatomy, numerology, hereditary blood lines and her many humorous anecdotes. Alice was loved by all who knew her. St. Jude, pray for us.
Alice was preceded in death by loving husbands, Herbert Stuesse and Clarence Ellingboe. She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Prier of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Gloria Turner of Sahuarita, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
There will be a memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at San Antonio Catholic Church in Port Charlotte.

Talmadge L. "Tom" Herron, 74, of Punta Gorda, died Feb. 3, 2002.
He was born
Aug. 4, 1927, in Haleyville, Ala., to the late Floyd and Nina (Cantrell) Herron. He came to this area 22 years ago from Michigan. He served his country with the Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He owned Tom Herron Landscaping and was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and Masonic Lodge.
Tom leaves behind his wife, Leora; sons, Shanon Herron of Garden City, Mich., Jerry Herron of Westland, Mich., and Kim Herron of Alvaton, Ky.; brother, David Herron of Plymouth, Mich.; sister, Gaynell Herron of Florida; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at American Legion Post 103 in Punta Gorda. Burial will take place in Westland. Arrangements are by Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services.
Helen Ruffalo
Helen Ruffalo, 93, of Englewood, Fla., passed away Feb. 5, 2002, at Englewood Community Hospital, Englewood.
Mrs. Ruffalo was born
March 8, 1908, in Fresesland, Holland, to Ben and Ynsche (Westerhuise) Pynakker. In addition to being a loving wife and mother, she worked as a metal fabricator at Quaker Industries in Kenosha, Wis., and, following retirement, she and her husband, Henry, moved to this area in 1969 from Kenosha. She was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Englewood.
Surviving are daughters, Helyn (Kenneth) Cline and Jeanette (George) Brink, both of Englewood; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by a son, Joseph; a daughter, Josephine; and her husband, Henry J. Ruffalo, who passed away Oct. 28, 1983.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at Lemon Bay Funeral Home, Englewood Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at St. Raphael's Catholic Church, Englewood. Entombment will follow at Gulf Pines Memorial Park Cemetery, Englewood.
Gresham Knott
Gresham Knott, 73, of Arcadia, Fla., died Feb. 5, 2002, in Arcadia.
Mr. Knott was born
Feb. 8, 1928, in Russellville, Ala., and moved to the area in 1990 from Green Bay, Wis. Mr. Knott was a retired truck driver, and a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was of the Lutheran faith. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and loved his family and many friends.
Mr. Knott is survived by two daughters, Cindy (Lowell) Snow of Arcadia and Jenine (Leon) Pamperin of Green Bay; a son, Richard (Mary Susan) Knott of Green Bay; a sister, Louise Carroll of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Darleen, in 1988; and a brother who died in infancy.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, Arcadia. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at the funeral home chapel. Interment will take place at a later date in Fort Howard Cemetery, Green Bay.

Norman L. Bouchard
Norman L. Bouchard, 72, died Jan. 23, 2002, at his home in Sparta, Tenn., after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer.
Mr. Bouchard was born
July 8, 1929, in Missouri, and moved to Michigan when he was 12. After working at General Motors for 30 years, he moved to Florida and owned a trucking company for 17 years. Five years later, he moved to Tennessee, where he lived for two years until his death. His wife of 54 years and his three children were at his bedside when he passed. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father who always had a smile and kind word for those he encountered.
He is survived by his wife, Nadine; sons, Rick and Gary; daughter, Debra; a brother, Stan ; a sister, Pat; and five grandchildren, Shannon, Lindsay, Matthew, Lauren and Ashley. Mr. Bouchard was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Ruby; and a younger brother, Jerry.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Hunter Funeral Home in Sparta, Tenn. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25. Burial will be in Big Springs Cemetery in White County, Tenn., and Lehman Flatt will officiate the services.
Genoveva Navarro
Genoveva Navarro, 86, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Jan. 22, 2002, in Port Charlotte Hospice House.
She was born
in Ponce, Puerto Rico, on Jan. 27, 1915, and moved to Manhattan, New York City, N.Y., with her husband, Carlos Navarro, before retiring to Port Charlotte 10 years ago. She proudly served as a soldier of the Port Charlotte Salvation Army.
She is survived by her loving children, Nora Ortiz, Louis Navarro, Cesar Navarro, Brunilda Navarro-Nesbitt, Randy Navarro and their families; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Carlos; and her children, Charlie Navarro, Elsie Adorno, and Erasmo "Duke" Navarro.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at the Salvation Army Chapel, 2120 Loveland Blvd., Port Charlotte.

Vivian K. Peters
Vivian Kelly Peters, 83, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Jan. 24, 2002, at her home.
Vivian was formerly of Nanuet, N.Y., and had resided here since 1977. She was a textbook editor for Prentice Hall Publishing. Mrs. Peters was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Council of Catholic Women, Friends of the Library, Kingsway Country Club and the Pregnancy Care Line.
Surviving are her children, Norman L. (Nancy W.) Peters Jr., of Nanuet, Owen Edward (Diane) Peters of Garfield, N.J., Patricia Claire Volpe of Cliffside Park, N.J., and Sharon Catherine Peters of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and six grandchildren. Her husband, Norman L. Peters Sr.; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Kelly Peters-Bettridge, preceded her in death.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 25, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., in the Port Charlotte Chapel of the Kays-Ponger/Royal Palm Funeral Home. A wake service will be celebrated at 7 p.m. tonight in the funeral home.
