A native of Cincinnati, Ohio she lived in the Tampa Bay area over 50 years. Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Friday, May 17, 2002 at the Marsicano chapel, 4040 Henderson Blvd., with interment to follow at Florida National Cemetery. HARTLINE, Jesse D., 85 of Tampa, Florida passed away on May 14, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ona Mae; son, Jesse D. Hartline Jr. and his wife Mary; daughter, Judy G. Carpenter; sisters, Geneva Martin and Bonnie Fulford; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Hartline was a member of East Chelsea Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge #240. He also was the former own er of Hartline's Shell Service at Orient Road and M.L.K. Jr. Blvd. for many years. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2002, 12 Noon at East Chelsea Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in Hillsboro Memorial Gardens. The pallbearers will be Richard, Randall and Roy Hartline, Greg and Glenn Carpenter, and Jamey Gage. DOUGLAS, Earl `Melvin`, 90, of Zephyrhills, passed away on May 15, 2002 at Heritage Park Specialty Care Center in Dade City. Melvin is survived by four sons, Roy M. and Mark R. of Zephyrhills, Earl T. of Calloway, N,Y., and Bruce W. of Apollo Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. Born in Leominster, Mass., Melvin came to Florida in 1970 fro m New York. He was a contractor by trade and a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Army. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 till 2 p.m. Private inurnment will take place later in St. Petersburg.

HAMMERNESS, Margaret L., a long-time resident of Zephyrhills, Florida and West Cape May, New Jersey, passed away May 1, 2002 in Wayne, New Jersey, in the loving care of her daughter, Sylvia Lindemann. Margaret was born icon in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and attended both American University and George Washington University in Washington, D.C., where she wwas a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Margaret w as an accomplished musician and organist. Her music was enjoyed by many Washington dignitaries, including two Presidents. While in Washington, D.C. she met her husband, Clarence R. Hammerness of Glasgow, Montana. When Parents Magazine began its Book of the Month Club for Children, she was appointed Director/ Manager of the New Jersey office, where she worked for ten years. Margaret was matriarch of a large family, which gathered in West Cape May, summers and holidays. She was a devoted church worker, member of the Christian Womens' Missionary Society, the Woman of the Church, officer and member in the Valparaiso Guild, and organist. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, reading, and playing the piano. She always had time to spend with her family. She is survived by her son, Richard Hammerness of Bryon, Texas; and daughter, Sylvia Lindemann of Wayne, New Jersey; seven grand- children; and nine great- grandchildren. Memorial services were held in Cape May and in Florida, with Burial to follow at a later date in the Hammerness family plot in Glasgow, Montana. Arrangements were made by the M. KAZMIERCZAK, Kurt, 80, of Zephyrhills died Thursday, May 16, 2002 at East Pasco Medical Center. Born in Germany he moved to this area 19 years ago from Land O' Lakes, Wisconsin. He was a production laborer at Miller Brewing and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Kazmierczak was also a member of The Eagles #3752 in Zephyrhills, The Moose #2276 in Zephyrhills and the American Legion #464 in Land O' Lakes, Wisconsin. He is survived by his wife, Jean; one brother, Eric Kazmierczak of Duluth, Minn.; one sister, Maryann Hug of Watertown, Wisconsin; one grandson, Stephen Kazmierczak of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; and one granddaughter, Kimberly Kazmierczak of Madison, Wisconsin. EVERINGHAM, Grace Corral, a lifelong Tampa resident died on May 15. She was 90. Born in Tampa in 1911, Mrs. Everingham graduated from the Academy of the Holy Names in 1929. After graduating from Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart in New York City, Mrs. Everingham attended the Art Students' League of New York and studied under Kimon Nicolaides. Mrs. Everingham was an avid gardener, a par ticularly active member of the Founders' Garden Circle, a life member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a former member of the Junior League of Tampa. She was the daughter of Angeles and Manuel Corral, founders of Corral Wodiskay Ca., manufacturers of Bering Cigars. One of seven sisters and two brothers she was preceded in death by Eva Corral Florez, Sylvia Corral Vega, Bertha Corral Fletcher, Lucille Corral Cannon, Mary Jo Corral O'Brien, James J. Corral and Manuel Corral, Jr. She is survived by her husband Robert, her sister Flavia Corral De Oliveira both of Tampa, her daughter and son-in-law Allyson and Dennis Sheckler, grandchildren Robert Joseph and Christina Corral all of Cambridge, MA. NICHOLS, Dawn Grotke, 53, died May 15, 2002, peacefully after a long illness. Born in North Tonawanda on June 25, 1948, Dawn grew up and went to school in Tampa, Fla. She attended USF before graduating from HCC. Dawn moved to Boynton Beach and has been a resident for the past 20 years. She was a nurse for Bethesda Memorial Hospital, pediatric department, for 17 years. Her life was dedicated to the care of others. She loved caring for children. Dawn enjoyed snorkeling, dancing, nature walks, movies and loved the beach. She had a great yen for life. She is survived by her significant other, Steve Condit; son, Russell and his wife Adriane of Dania, Fla. (Coast Guard); parents, Robert and Dorothy Grotke of Tampa; sister, Diane of New York City; and brothers, Richard and Robert, both of Tamp a. She was a great friend to many and will be greatly missed. SINGER, Dora S., age 76, of Tampa, passed away May 16, 2002. Born Dec. 29, 1925 in Salem, N.J., she raised four boys in Levittown, N.Y. She came to Tampa in 1969 and retired as a Registered Nurse of 36 years. She was a faithful member of Temple Terrace Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder, chaired the Congregational Care Committee and was blessed with many loving friends. Dora was p receded in death by her parents Edward and Frances Sickler. She is survived by her loving husband of thirty years, James L. Singer; four sons Ray, Paul, Scott, and Mark Sillence; five grandchildren, Ray Jr., Leigh Waite, Christopher, Jamey, and Jennifer Sillence; and three great-grandchildren James and Heather Sillence, and Scott Waite. HUSTEAD, John C., 79, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dottie. Also surviving are one son, Phil of Clarksburg, W.VA.; and one daughter, Marcia of Dothan, Ala. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy, who passed away Feb 11, 2002. Also surviving are four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A native of Clarksburg, West Virginia he moved here in 1 987. A memorial service will be held at the 1st United Methodist Church of Zephyrhills on Monday, May 20, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the First Methodist Church in Zephyrhills with Pastor Craig Ford officiating. Burial will be in West Virginia at a later date.

FROCK, Cloyd Benson, Sr., 65, died May 15, 2002, after a long and courageous fight with cancer. Born April 10, 1937 in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, he later served in the Air Force as a flight engineer for 14 years, with the rank of Staff Sergeant E-5. In 1997, he retired from 12 years of service to the Naval Reserves as an aviation electronics technician, first class. Never sitting still, he also had a successful 30 year career with Diebold, Inc., as a technical advisor. He is survived by his wife, Lynn, Gotha, Fla.; son, Cloyd Benson Frock, Jr., Tampa, Fla.; stepdaughter, Stefanie Pearson, Gotha, Fla.; stepson, Scott Pearson, Camden, Ohio; sisters, Lorraine Robinson, Livonia, Mich., Roxalee Younker, Warfordsburg, Pa., Betty Lou Frock, Sylvia Ann Frock; brother, Denver Frock, Berkeley Springs, W. Va. He was a Christian which gave way to him being a loving and caring husband and father, that touched and influenced many lives. He will be missed.

HAND, Kamalakis Joy, 66, of Plant City, passed away May 16, 2002. She was predeceased by her husband, Homer Lankford Hand; and is survived by her daughter, Carleen Mobley and her husband Michael of Plant City; three grandchildren, Kelly, Rachel, and Matthew Mobley; three brothers, Mitchell Kamalakis of Savannah, Georgia, Demetrius Kamalakis of Oolagah, Oklahoma, and David Kamalakis of Tampa; and two sisters, Mary Page of Faulkville, Georgia, and Martha O'Brien of Savannah, Georgia. Mrs. Hand was a member of the Soul's Harbor Church of God. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2002, 11 a.m. at the Soul's Harbor Church of God, 5308 E. Columbus Drive, with Rev. HEMPSTEAD, Margaret Burrill, 79, of Sun City Center, Fla., passed away on May 14, 2002 while visiting her son, David, in Yarmouth, Maine. Margaret was born icon Sept. 29, 1922 in Bangor, Maine, and was the daughter of Leslie F. and Mary S. Burrill. She was the wife of the late David Geer Hempstead, whom she married Jan. 1, 1946. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Eastern Maine General Hospital and the University of Maine in 1945. She received her Master's degree in Maternal and Child Health Nursing and Nursing Education from Boston Univ. in 1972. She held nursing positions in Bangor, Maine; Seattle, Wash.; and Cincinnati, Ohio. She served as a professor of Nursing Education in the Mass. Community College system and held the position of Nursing Program Director at Bunker Hill Community College. Margaret was a member of Phi Mu sorority and various professional nursing organizations. Margaret and David lived in Augusta, Maine; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Boxford, Mass. Upon their retirement, Margaret and David moved to Sun City Center, Fla. and continued to summer at their cottage on Onawa Lake, Maine. In Sun City Center, she was active in the United Community Church, dance groups, bridge groups and enjoyed theater, music and travel. She played the violin in the Sarasota Pops Orchestra for nine years. She is survived by her two children, Judith Anne Hempstead Rick and her husband Jonathan of Long Lake, Minn., and David Burrill Hempstead and his wife Rolande of Yarmouth, Maine; her sister, Eleanor Burrill Hill of Sun City Center, Fla.; and five grandchildren, Jeffrey Hempstead Rick and his wife Lisa, Mark David Hempstead, Rebecca Libby Rick, Amy Jean Hempstead and Christopher Frank Hempstead; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Hempstead Hemman of Norwood, Massachusetts and Elizabeth Hempstead Dexter and her husband Russell of Auburn, Maine. Memorial services were held at Sacred Heart Church in Yarmouth, Maine on Saturday. A memorial service will be held at United Community Church in Sun City Center at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2002. WITT, Bettye Stodghill, 74, of Tampa, passed away May 16, 2002 at her home in the loving care of her family and the LifePath Hospice. Born in Plant City, Florida, She was the last surviving child of Jack and Nancy Murray. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Stodghill in 1971 and Harry Witt in 1994. WOOD, Walter W., of Sun City Center passed away Thursday, May 16, 2002. He was born icon in New Castle, Pennsylvania and moved to Florida in 1960. Mr. Wood was a U.S. Army veteran and retired attorney for the Florida State Comptrollers office. He was a member of St. John the Divine Episcopal Church, a graduate of Mt. Union College in Alliance, Ohio, and of the Case Western Reserve Law School, Cleveland, Ohio. He was admitted to practice in both Ohio and Florida. Mr. Wood is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Jane Fisher Wood; and daughter, Anne Michelle Wood of Eugene, Oregon. Mr. Wood will be interred in Arlington National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 23, 2002, 11 a.m. at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church in Ruskin.

Martha is survived by her husband, Robert; three daughters, Cindi Frankum of Clarksville, Roxanne Ellerbee of Wesley Chapel, and Terri Dawn Brownlee of Zephyrhills; four grandchildren, Bobby, Stephanie Frankum, Amanda Gano, and Zachery Derrick; two sisters, Eunice Rich of Canton, Ohio, and Sharon Norman of Paris, Ohio; three brothers, Jack and David Eller of Canton, and Joseph of Kissimmee; parents, Andy and Inez Eller of Haines City. Martha is preceded in death by two sisters.

BRYKER, James C., 89, of Dade City, died Saturday, May 18, 2002 at Heritage Park Care Center. A native of New Jersey, he moved to this area in 1997 from Tierre Verde. He was a retired mobile home park owner and was a US Army Veteran of World War II in the European Theatre. Survivors include his wife, Alaine; a daughter, Lynn Tepper of Dade City; a stepson, Elliott Tepper and his wife, Mary, of Madrid, Spain; a brother, Tom Bryker of New Jersey; and three grandsons, David Tepper of Madrid, Jonathan Tepper of London, England, and Lt. Melanie was born icon in Toledo, Ohio, and came to the Zephyrhills area some 25 years ago from Grover Hill, Ohio. She is survived by her husband, John; two daughters, Rachel and Lauren; one son, Stephen of Temple Terrance; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Algene and Wayne Westgate of Marion, Ind., and Debra and Charles Dunham of Haviland, Ohio; both parents, Charles and Nova Scarbrough of Grover Hill, Ohio; as well as many nieces and nephews. Melanie was Baptist by faith, a customer service supervisor at Chad Supply in Thonotosassa. Services will be held later this week in Middle Creek Cemetery in Grover Hill, Ohio.

HOJLO, Michael J., III, 54, of Land O' Lakes, passed away on May 17, 2002 at home. He is survived by his beloved wife, Retta ( Paetke ) Hojlo; a devoted father of his three children, Michelle, Charles and Marjorie; four grandchildren; and a loyal son of his mother, Marguerite Hojlo. Mr. Hojlo was born icon in Boston, Mass. on August 17, 1947. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1965 serving in Korea, Vietnam and Panama before retiring as a MSGT., in 1987. A Graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at 10 a.m. at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla. with military honors. Born in Hamden, New York, he moved to this area 13 years ago from Brooksville, Fla., after leaving New York. He was a retired Truck Driver and served in the US Army during World War II. He is survived by his wife, of 60 years, Barbara MacLean of Dade City; two daughters, Donna Calhoun of Dade City and Charlene Brown of Freeville, New York; one brother, William MacLean of Cortland, New York; two sisters, Virginia Morgan of Cortland, New York and Irene Penrose of Lisle, New York; 11 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by one daughter, Janet MacLean; one brother, Leroy MacLean; and one grandson, Joseph Hutchings. A Visitation for Mr. MacLean will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2002 from 10-12 Noon at Oakley Funeral Home in Dade City.
