HAMMERNESS, Margaret L., a long-time resident of Zephyrhills, Florida and West Cape May, New Jersey, passed away May 1, 2002 in Wayne, New Jersey, in the loving care of her daughter, Sylvia Lindemann. Margaret was born
in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and attended both American University and George Washington University in Washington, D.C., where she wwas a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Margaret w as an accomplished musician and organist. Her music was enjoyed by many Washington dignitaries, including two Presidents. While in Washington, D.C. she met her husband, Clarence R. Hammerness of Glasgow, Montana. When Parents Magazine began its Book of the Month Club for Children, she was appointed Director/ Manager of the New Jersey office, where she worked for ten years. Margaret was matriarch of a large family, which gathered in West Cape May, summers and holidays. She was a devoted church worker, member of the Christian Womens' Missionary Society, the Woman of the Church, officer and member in the Valparaiso Guild, and organist. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, reading, and playing the piano. She always had time to spend with her family. She is survived by her son, Richard Hammerness of Bryon, Texas; and daughter, Sylvia Lindemann of Wayne, New Jersey; seven grand- children; and nine great- grandchildren. Memorial services were held in Cape May and in Florida, with Burial to follow at a later date in the Hammerness family plot in Glasgow, Montana. Arrangements were made by the M. EVERINGHAM, Grace Corral, a lifelong Tampa resident died on May 15. She was 90. Born in Tampa in 1911, Mrs. Everingham graduated from the Academy of the Holy Names in 1929. After graduating from Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart in New York City, Mrs. Everingham attended the Art Students' League of New York and studied under Kimon Nicolaides. FROCK, Cloyd Benson, Sr., 65, died May 15, 2002, after a long and courageous fight with cancer. Born April 10, 1937 in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, he later served in the Air Force as a flight engineer for 14 years, with the rank of Staff Sergeant E-5. In 1997, he retired from 12 years of service to the Naval Reserves as an aviation electronics technician, first class. Never sitting still, he also had a successful 30 year career with Diebold, Inc., as a technical advisor. He is survived by his wife, Lynn, Gotha, Fla.; son, Cloyd Benson Frock, Jr., Tampa, Fla.; stepdaughter, Stefanie Pearson, Gotha, Fla.; stepson, Scott Pearson, Camden, Ohio; sisters, Lorraine Robinson, Livonia, Mich., Roxalee Younker, Warfordsburg, Pa., Betty Lou Frock, Sylvia Ann Frock; brother, Denver Frock, Berkeley Springs, W. Va. He was a Christian which gave way to him being a loving and caring husband and father, that touched and influenced many lives. He will be missed.

HEMPSTEAD, Margaret Burrill, 79, of Sun City Center, Fla., passed away on May 14, 2002 while visiting her son, David, in Yarmouth, Maine. Margaret was born
Sept. 29, 1922 in Bangor, Maine, and was the daughter of Leslie F. and Mary S. Burrill. She was the wife of the late David Geer Hempstead, whom she married Jan. 1, 1946. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Eastern Maine General Hospital and the University of Maine in 1945. She received her Master's degree in Maternal and Child Health Nursing and Nursing Education from Boston Univ. in 1972. She held nursing positions in Bangor, Maine; Seattle, Wash.; and Cincinnati, Ohio. She served as a professor of Nursing Education in the Mass. Community College system and held the position of Nursing Program Director at Bunker Hill Community College. Margaret was a member of Phi Mu sorority and various professional nursing organizations. Margaret and David lived in Augusta, Maine; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Boxford, Mass. Upon their retirement, Margaret and David moved to Sun City Center, Fla. and continued to summer at their cottage on Onawa Lake, Maine. In Sun City Center, she was active in the United Community Church, dance groups, bridge groups and enjoyed theater, music and travel. She played the violin in the Sarasota Pops Orchestra for nine years. She is survived by her two children, Judith Anne Hempstead Rick and her husband Jonathan of Long Lake, Minn., and David Burrill Hempstead and his wife Rolande of Yarmouth, Maine; her sister, Eleanor Burrill Hill of Sun City Center, Fla.; and five grandchildren, Jeffrey Hempstead Rick and his wife Lisa, Mark David Hempstead, Rebecca Libby Rick, Amy Jean Hempstead and Christopher Frank Hempstead; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Hempstead Hemman of Norwood, Massachusetts and Elizabeth Hempstead Dexter and her husband Russell of Auburn, Maine. WOOD, Walter W., of Sun City Center passed away Thursday, May 16, 2002. He was born
in New Castle, Pennsylvania and moved to Florida in 1960. Mr. Wood was a U.S. Army veteran and retired attorney for the Florida State Comptrollers office. He was a member of St. John the Divine Episcopal Church, a graduate of Mt. Union College in Alliance, Ohio, and of the Case Western Reserve Law School, Cleveland, Ohio. He was admitted to practice in both Ohio and Florida. Mr. Wood is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Jane Fisher Wood; and daughter, Anne Michelle Wood of Eugene, Oregon.
