Terry Daniel Blankenship 54, of Eustis passed away on Sunday April 26, 2009. He was born in Clendenin, West Virginia and moved here from Deltona in 1994. He was a Mormon, a Supervisor for the Florida Department of Transportation and a Mason. He is survived by his father, Harold of Eustis, his siblings, Brenda (Kenneth) Purvee of Eustis, Peggy Ann (Wayne) Brock of Debary, and Jerry Michael Blankenship of Ray City, Georgia, and his dog Buddy. Mr. Blankenship was predeceased by his mother Ila Emogene Blankenship in 2007. Services were held in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Wednesday April 29 at 11 O'clock AM with interment following in Seneca Cemetery.

Alfred George Bolduc
September 02, 1920 - October 26, 2009

Mr. Alfred George Bolduc, of Sorrento, FL, passed away on Monday, October 26th, 2009 at the age of 89 years. He was born in Bayonne, New Jersey. He served as a Lieutenant Commander in the US Navy. Alfred was a retired builder. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis and his son, Stephen. The family has elected not to hold services at this time but will hold services at a future date. Ronald G. Boone
September 29, 1936 - August 30, 2009

Ronald G. Boone, 72, of Mount Dora passed away in Eustis on Sunday August 30, 2009. He was born in Moline, Michigan and moved to this area from Byron Center, Michigan in 1999. Mr. Boone was a member of the Christian Reform Church, a Veteran of the Korean War having served in the United States Air Force and a member of American Legion Post 35 of Mount Dora. Mr. Boone was the former owner of a heating and air conditioning business and was a maintenance worker at a Christian School in Grandville, Michigan. He was survived wife Debbie, children Brian (Judy) Boone of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Gene (Heidi) Boone of Grand Rapids, Dave (Virginia) of Pennsylvania and Lori (Doug) Helmholt also of Grand Rapids, his siblings, Jay (Norma) Boone of Wyoming, Michigan, Donna (Bill) Hovan of Middleville, Michigan, Russell (Margaret) Boone of Michigan, and Viola (Hezz) DeJong of Grand Rapids, Michigan and sixteen grandchildren. Mr. Boone was predeceased by a sister Dorothy Baker and Jeannette Plas,and a brother Lawrence Boone. Memorial services were held in the Church of the Nazarene of Tavares at 11 AM Thursday September 3, 2009. Services in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida were held Wednesday September 9, 2009, at 10 AM.

Betty Ann McDonald Bowen
February 12, 2009

Betty Ann McDonald Bowen, 82 of Eustis passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2009. She was born in Ocilla, Georgia and moved to Eustis from Darien, Georgia. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. Mrs. Bowen was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy, she was predeceased by her husband Lennon E. Bowen Jr. in 2005. She will be remembered by her sons, Lennon E. (Ann) Bowen III of Eustis and Christopher Carlyle (Brenda) Bowen of Brunswick, Georgia, her five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Lavon Boylan
August 16, 1917 - December 23, 2009

W. Lavon Boylan, 92 of Leesburg passed away on Wednesday December 23, 2009. He was born to Guy M. and Ethel Mae Seslar Boylan in Pauling County, Ohio. He married Ruth Ann Whitman Boylan May 13, 1951 in Hicksville, Ohio. Lavon had been a member in good standing of the Nazarene Church for 56 years, 28 of those with the Eustis Church of the Nazarene. During his youth he worked as a salesman in various businesses. After marriage he owned and operated a large farm in the Butler, Indiana area and also owned a heating and air conditioning business. After retirement the Boylans moved to Florida and lived five years in The Forest out of Ocala then moved to their present home twenty nine years ago. He is survived by his wife Ruth Ann; three sons D. Guy (Jane) Boylan of Hicksville, Ohio, William (Tylene) Boylan of Antwerp, Ohio and Robert (Debra) Boylan of Churubusco, Indiana; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; siblings Ruth Nusbaum and Lester Boylan both of Indiana and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Ailene Little. Services were held in the Eustis Church of the Nazarene on Monday December 28, 2009 at 3 PM with Pastor William Carte officiating. Interment followed in Lakeside Memory Gardens, Eustis. Friends called from 2 PM until the funeral hour.

Charles L. "Charley" Broadway
September 08, 1927 - June 03, 2009

Charles L. "Charley" Broadway of Eustis passed away on Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009. He was born in Meigs, Georgia and raised in Leesburg. He was a 1945 graduate of Leesburg High School and lived in Eustis most of his adult life. Charley graduated from Stetson University where he lettered in football and baseball. In 1982 he was proudly inducted into the Stetson University "Athletic Hall of Fame." He later received a master's degree in education from the University of Florida. He served more than 30 years with the Lake County School system, first as a teacher and coach at Eustis High School, later as an assistant principal and eventually as personnel director in the county school office. Upon retirement from the school system, Charley spent 10 years as a financial advisor with A.G. Edwards and Sons, Inc. in their Eustis office before he retired in 1991. Charley was a veteran having served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a past president of the Eustis Kiwanis Club and of the Lake County Education Association and was a member of the VFW. He was a former officer and sustaining member of the Cessna Hunt Club in Quitman, Georgia and an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Eustis. Charley Broadway was a pillar of the Eustis community, having impacted many lives through his teaching, coaching, mentoring and friendship. He will surely be missed, but remembered and admired by all who had the opportunity to know him. He is survived by his wife, Virginia "Ginny" Broadway; his sons, Chuck (Brenna) Broadway of Eustis and Jim (Sherry) Broadway of Roswell, Georgia; his grandchildren, Amanda Broadway Parsel, Jake Broadway, Matt Broadway, Casey Broadway, Jim Broadway, Jr., Steven Broadway and Sam Broadway; and his brother Harold of Grand Island. Services was held at the First Presbyterian Church of Eustis at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 8th with Reverend Leon Bloder officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial donations to either, the Mayo Clinic, Department of Development, 4500 San Pablo Road, Jacksonville, FL 32334, www.mayoclinic.org and go to "Make a difference" or to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778.

William Carroll Broadway
January 13, 1930 - January 17, 2010

William Carroll Broadway, 80 of Eustis passed away January 17, 2010. He was born in Eustis and this was his lifelong home. Mr. Broadway was a member of the Bay Street Baptist Church of Eustis and was a former Eustis Police Officer and Agricultural Inspector for the State of Florida. His is survived by a niece, Jeanette Schofield of Wilbur by the Sea, Florida , three nephews Louis C. Broadway of Sanford, Garan Broadway of Atlanta and R. Lee Broadway of Eustis, a stepson Ron Prevatt of Eustis and his longtime companion Betty Bosheers of Eustis. Services were held in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Thursday January 21, 2010 at 11 AM, with Rev. Robert Walker of the Bay Street Baptist Church officiating, interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery, Eustis. Friends called from 9:30 AM until the funeral hour.

Betty Bunn
January 28, 2009

Betty W. Bunn, 72 of Apopka passed away on Wednesday January 28, 2009. Born in Roanoke, Virginia she moved to this area in 1979. Mrs. Bunn was a Pentecostal. She is survived by her sons; Eddie Carson (Debra Sue) Bunn of Deland, Larry (Janice Smith) Bunn of Clermont and Steven Bunn of Apopka, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services were held for the family with interment following Greenwood Cemetery, Eustis.

Margaret H. Carlyon
February 07, 1928 - April 22, 2009

Margaret H. Carlyon 81, of Mount Dora passed away in Tavares on Wednesday April 22, 2009. Mrs. Carlyon moved here in 1976 from Corpus Christi, Texas. She is survived by two sons, Patrick J. (Janet) Carlyon of Portland, Texas and Mike (Gloria) Carlyon of Mount Dora, five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Mrs. Carlyon was predeceased by a son Thomas David.

Rosalie Nieft Castleberry
July 18, 1923 - March 28, 2009

Rosalie Nieft Castleberry was born, July 18, 1923, in Chicago, Illinois, and was the daughter of Edward and Louise (Pundt) Nieft. She attended North Park Junior College and the University of Missouri and received a M.A. in Journalism; she was also a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority. While at the University of Missouri, Roz met her husband, Jesse Wendell Castleberry while he was stationed there in U.S. Army Air Force flight training across the street from her sorority house. They were married in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, June 5, 1946.
Roz taught journalism at the University of Alabama. While Jess attended Northwestern Medical School, Roz worked as a journalist. They lived in Orlando during Jess's medical internship, New Orleans during Jess's surgical residency training, and then moved permanently to the Orlando area. Roz loved traveling to new places, and traveling with Jess all over the United States including Alaska, and to Germany, Russia, England and Costa Rica. Each time Roz wrote wonderful travel journals for her family and friends. Survived by her beloved husband Jess, children Carol Castleberry and husband Todd Peterson; Brett Castleberry and wife Ronda; Amy Castleberry Shamrock and husband Steve; Jim Castleberry and wife Kari; and grandchildren Kayde and Savannah Shamrock; Jesse, Sam and David Castleberry; Sarah and Stephanie Anderson; Bryanna Peterson and sister Marie Nieft Deemer. In lieu of flowers please send memorials to her favorite charity the Humane Society of the United States. A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, March 31st at 3 PM in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel.

LaVerne L. Cheney
September 18, 1920 - May 23, 2009

Colonel LaVerne L. Cheney, U.S.A.F. (Ret.), 88 of Eustis passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2009. He was born in Cadott, Wisconsin and moved here from Denver, Colorado in 1983. He was Lutheran. Col. Cheney was a veteran of WWII having served in the United States Army Air Corp and later the United States Air Force. He had been a Kiwanian and a member of Eustis Lodge 1578 BPOE. Survivors include his wife Bette J. Cheney, son Thomas of Centennial, Colorado, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Col Cheney was predeceased by his daughter Mary Jo Bruner in 1993. Private entombment was at Lakeside Memory Gardens of Eustis.

Catherine Corbett Christie
February 02, 1953 - June 20, 2009

Catherine Corbett Christie, 56 of Mount Dora passed away on June 20, 2009. She was born in Eustis and lived in Central Florida all her life. She was a member of the Christian Church and worked as a waitress in Epcot, Walt Disney World for 35 years. She is survived by her husband Neil, son William (Ashley) Fay of Oakland, granddaughter Morgann Fay, brother James Corbett of Eustis and a sister Audrey Fisher of Texas. Mrs. Christie was predeceased by a sister Darla Corbett. Funeral Services was held in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Wednesday, June 24 at 10 AM with Mr. Robert F. Bender, Minister officiating, interment followed in the Tavares Cemetery.

Robert A. Chubboy
January 04, 1930 - August 04, 2009

Robert A. Chubboy born January 4, 1931 in Smock, Pennsylvania passed away at his home in Apopka on August 4, 2009. He was survived by his wife of 56 years Joanne, six children Michael (Brigita) Chubboy, Mathew (Cindy) Chubboy of Cape Gerardo, Missouri, Monique Chubboy, Maureen (Spencer) Davis and Marshall (Sabine) Chubboy all of Sorrento and Robert Chubboy Jr. of Apopka, Mr. Chubboy had ten grandchildren. His first eight years of school were in a one room schoolhouse in Smock, Pennsylvania. He went on to graduate from Carnegie Tech with a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering and then received his Masters in Aerospace Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. Robert Chubboy was an Experimental Test Pilot and retired Lt. Colonel from the Army Transportation Corp. He was a decorated Veteran of the Vietnam War and also retired from Martin Marietta as a Vice President of Middle East Marketing. Services were held in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel at 4 PM Friday, August 7,2009. Mr. Thomas Brown officiated. Military Honors were provided by V.F.W. Post 8087 of Eustis. Mr. Chubboy was taken to Blair - Lowther Funeral Home (724-736-4424) in Perryopolis, Pennsylvania for final services and interment in Mount Washington Cemetery.

Joyce Ann Coleman
September 04, 1961 - April 03, 2009

Joyce Ann Coleman, 47, of Mt. Dora, passed away Friday, April 3rd, 2009, at her home. Born in East Liverpool Ohio on September 4th 1961, she has lived in the area for the last 24 years. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Renee O'Neill, 26, of Orlando. Her son Joshua James O'Neill, 27, of Mt. Dora. Her granddaughter Baylee Anne, 4. She is also survived by her parents Joseph and Loretta Coleman and her lifelong friend and partner, James Randall O'Neill. She was preceded in death by her mother Joanne Mitchell and her granddaughter Kaylee O'Neill.
Services were held for family and close friends at Hamlin and Hilbish Funeral Home in Eustis on April 13, 2009 at 4 pm.

Aranka G. Crampton
May 15, 1907 - January 16, 2010

Aranka G. Crampton, 102 formerly of Tavares passed away in Deland on January 16, 2010. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and moved to Lake County from Long Island, New York in 1962. She was a member of St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church of Eustis. She is survived by two grandchildren Barbara Mattiace of Deland and Mark Alan Crampton of Orlando; a niece, Lillian Koegler of Stratford, Connecticut, and three great nephews, John LaPierre, Mark LaPierre and Paul LaPierre. Friends called in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Thursday January 21, 2010 from 5 until 7 PM, Funeral Mass was held in St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church of Eustis at 9 AM Friday. Mrs. Crampton was laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery, Eustis.

Jeanne Curtis
October 19, 1925 - July 17, 2009

Jeanne Curtis,83, of Holly Ave. Paisley FL, died on Friday July 17,2009 at the home of her daughter Patricia Goyer after a long illness. Born in Lynn, Massachusetts, Jeanne was the daughter of the late Harry and Margaret Buxton Emmons and wife of the late Stanley Curtis. Jeanne was raised in Maine and had lived in New York for a number of years. While living in New York Jeanne had worked for Montgomery Wards in Menands. She had also worked at Ginsberg Market where she was a clerk and she and her late husband had owned and operated the former C&P Motorized Sports in Cohoes from 1968-1976.In later years Jeanne spent time living in Maine and Florida before permanently moving to Florida 20 years ago. While in Florida Jeanne was a member of the Honeybee Square Dance Club and the Retreads Motorcycle Club. Jeanne was the sister of the late Phil Prideaux. Survivors include her children Richard (Barbara) Curtis Sr. of Troy, New York, Steven (Stephanie) Curtis of Sumter, SC, Patricia (Terry) Goyer of Cropseyville and Deborah (Keith Carleton) Curtis of Greenfield Center, NY ,16 grandchildren,28 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Graveside services were held at Lakeside Memory Gardens, Eustis, Florida at 2 O'clock PM Saturday July 25th with Rev William Boyer officiating. The family suggests donations in memory of Jeanne Curtis be made to the Community Hospice of Rensselaer Co. 295 Valley View Blvd. Rensselaer, NY 12144.

Oma Marie Dailey
November 26, 1918 - June 08, 2009

Oma Marie "Moe" Dailey, 90 of Eustis passed away on Monday June 8, 2009. She was born in Blue Banks, Kentucky to the late Willie and Eva Ellen Shields Caudill. She moved to Eustis in 1957 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Altoona. She and her late husband, Joseph D. Dailey were the owners of Dailey's Furniture Store and Dailey's Transfer and Storage of Eustis. She wrote a book of she and her husband's 63 years together and called it Our Yesteryears. She is survived by a son William L. Dailey of Boca Raton, Florida, her daughter Joretta Ann Caprio of Eustis and three wonderful grandchildren Daniel L. of Deerfield Beach, Florida, Dennis M. of Boca Raton, Florida and Jennifer A. Schmidt of Summerfield, Florida and six great-grandchildren. Joseph A. Schmidt, Courtney M. Schmidt, Jenna M. Schmidt, Jessica Dailey, Apollo Dailey and Athena Dailey. Mama or Moe as she was fondly called will be sadly missed. The family requested those desiring direct memorials to the American Heart Association or The Gideons International. Memorial services was held in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel at 11 AM Saturday June 13 with Pastor Jack Guerra officiating.

Mildred Jean Scranton Dawes
October 20, 1923 - August 20, 2009

Mildred Jean Scranton Dawes, 85 of Mount Dora passed away in Leesburg on Thursday, August 20, 2009. She was born in Olney, Illinois and moved here in 1952 from Olney. Mrs. Dawes was a nurse and had worked at local hospitals, she was a member of the Shiners Auxiliary and the Ladies of the Nile. She was survived by her children, Larry L. (Gisela) Scranton of Deltona and Joyce (Bruce) Drazen of Altamonte Springs, four grandchildren; Michael Scranton, Stephanie Aubrey, David Drazen, Jennifer Williams, Tammy Gonzalez and Timothy Ritchey seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Dawes was also survived by her sister, Helen Mason of Tucson, Arizona. At the request of Mrs. Dawes there were no services. Memorials were given to the charity of choice.
