She is survived by her children; Adrian Mateos and Denise Mateos of Eustis, Marlene Rodriquez of Astatula, Bernie Mateos and Rachel Mateos of Apopka. Funeral services were held on Wednesday February 11 at 1PM in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel with interment following in Greenwood Cemetery, Eustis.

Sharon N. Hill
February 07, 1948 - December 05, 2009

Mrs. Sharon N. Hill, of Altoona, passed away on Saturday, December 5th, 2009 at the age of 61 years. Sharon was a homemaker born in Stow, Ohio. She is remembered by her husband of 40 Years, Ernest; son, Steve A. Nolan and his wife, Amy of Altoona; daughter, Sherry Ann Summerall of Brooksville; brothers, Frank Nolan of Eustis and Tim Nolan and his wife, Janet of Alabama; sister, Judy Wilt and her husband, Steve of Mount Dora; 7 grandchildren, Kelly, Ashley, C.J., Heather, Katie, Keri and Cody and 2 great-grandchildren, Trenton and Trent. The family greeted friends who gathered on Tuesday, December 8th, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the funeral home. The Funeral Ceremony started at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 9th in the funeral home chapel. Arrangements were entrusted to Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Directors, Esutis, FL, 352-357-4193.

Marie Hopkins

Marie V. Hopkins, 84 of Mount Dora passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2009. She was born in North Bergen, New Jersey and moved here from New York in 1975. Mrs. Hopkins was Catholic. Mrs. Hopkins was predeceased by her husband Patrick Charles Hopkins in 1991. She is survived by her children Patrick, Gary of Middletown, New York, Kevin of Mount Dora and Laura of Kentucky, and sister Dorothy Schreiber of St. Petersburg, Florida, several grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Interment was in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.

Harold Ray Hord

Harold R. Hord, 69, of Eustis passed away Wednesday May 18, 2009. He was born in Kings Mountain, North Carolina and moved here from Richmond, Virginia in 1964. He was Methodist, a veteran having served in the U. S. Army and was the former owner of Hals Shoe Repair Shop in Eustis. He is survived by his daughter Charlene Booth of Richmond, Virginia and his sister, Frances Smith of Orlando.

Martha Ophelia Hutchison
January 16, 1916 - May 21, 2009

Martha Ophelia Hutchison, 93, of Eustis passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2009. She was born in Cuthbert, Randolph County, Georgia and moved here from Dade City, Florida in 1981, she was a Southern Baptist. She was a retired cattle rancher. Mrs. Hutchison was the last of 14 siblings and is survived by her children; Jimmie Merritt of Jacksonville, Florida, Marvin Merritt of Gotha, Florida, Eddie Merritt of Ft. Myers, Florida, Walter Merritt of Albany, Georgia, Freddie Merritt of Eustis, Florida, John Merritt of Eustis, Florida and Ruth Bailey of Virginia Beach, Virginia, eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hutchinson was predeceased by a son Dennis Merritt in 2007. Mrs. Hutchinson was taken to Banks Funeral Home in Sylvester, Georgia (229-776-2055) for final services and interment in Salem Cemetery.

Larry G. Ingraham

Larry G. Ingraham Jr. 64,of Grand Island, passed away on Friday November 6, 2009. He was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia and moved here in the early 1970s from Ohio. He was a member of St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic church of Eustis and worked for the Roppe Corporation of Fostoria, Ohio. He was a member and former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus,a Eucharistic Minister and a 1963 graduate of Belpre (Ohio) High School. Larry is survived by his wife of 27 years Sharon, two sons Brian Sonnenberg of Leesburg and Daniel (Tania) Sonnenberg of Ft. Myers, his daughter Susan Spires of Umatilla, his mother and her husband Gladys (Bill) Arduini of Belpre, Ohio, his brother, Rodney (Linda) Ingraham of Belpre, Ohio, sister Arlena (William) Pugliese of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family requests memorials be directed to Knights of Columbus Charities. The family received friends in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Monday, November 9, from 6 until 8 PM. Funeral Mass was held in St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church of Eustis at 9 AM Tuesday, November 10, 2009. Interment followed in Lakeside Memory Gardens, Eustis.

Richard C. Jacobs

Richard Jacobs, 80 of Leesburg passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2009. He was born in Ohio and moved here in 1981. Mr. Jacobs was a Methodist and a truck driver. He is survived by his wife Betty, and his sons, Richard, Jeffery and Robert all of Ohio, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Steven Jacques

Steven Jacques, 49 of Eustis passed away in Mount Dora on Tuesday, May 12, 2009. He was born in Amherst, Ohio and moved here in 1986. He had been employed at Hallmark Nameplate of Mount Dora. Mr. Jacques is survived by his children Jessica (Anthony) Burdette of Eustis and Steven Jacques II of Mount Dora., his parents William and Betty Jacques of Mount Dora, and his siblings, William Robert Jacques of Wakeman, Ohio, Barbara Stever of Montgomery, Alabama and Sheila Goodman of Sorrento. Memorial services was held in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Saturday May 16th at Ten O'clock AM with Dave Stever officiating.

Emory Ed Jarvis
August 22, 1924 - October 16, 2009

Emory "Ed" Jarvis 85, of The Villages passed away October 16, 2009. He was born to Edwin Lee Jarvis and Madge Blanch McElwee Jarvis on August 22, 1924 in Morgantown, West Virginia. In 1939 Ed was inducted as a Knight of the West Virginia Golden Horseshoe Society, one of the states highest awards for academic achievement. While serving in the United States Navy during World War II, aboard the USS Nashville CL-43, and the USS Reid DD369 both ships were struck by kamikaze enemy action in the Pacific theater. Remaining in the military, his naval career took him all over the world, finally settling his family in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He retired from naval service in 1971 as a Lieutenant Commander then started a second career in real estate, becoming an associate broker in three states. Ed enjoyed numerous hobbies which included fishing, woodworking, flying airplanes, beekeeping and gardening. He built a 22' cabin cruiser with the help of his eldest son Larry and hand crafted each of his five children an heirloom clock. Flying his own plane became one of his passions after he obtained his pilots license. He was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the Virginia Beach Ruritan Club and the West Virginia Society. He is survived by five children, Lois Dianne (Leonard) Reyes, Linda Caron Jarvis (Drew) Jeffreys, Edwin Lawrence (Debra) Jarvis, Roy Allen (Robin) Jarvis and Emory Wayne (Jacqueline) Jarvis, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, three sisters, Virginia Boggess, Jean Fleming and Garnet Williams and one brother Ira Lewis Jarvis. Mr. Jarvis has been transferred to Matheny Whited Funeral Home in Elizabeth, West Virginia (304-275-4229) for services and interment in Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery, Palestine, West Virginia. He was laid to eternal rest beside his loving wife of forty nine years, Nora Elizabeth Hutchinson Jarvis In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Bethesda Baptist Church, Two Run, Palestine, WV, 26160

Daniel C. Johnson Sr.
February 27, 1953 - April 16, 2009

Daniel C. Johnson Sr. 56, of Tavares passed away in Ft. White, Florida on Thursday, April 16, 2009. He was born in Little Falls, New York and moved here in 1996. He was a retired contractor and a Methodist. He is survived by his wife Shelley, his children, Christy Lyn Reynolds of Deland, Christy Lee Reynolds of Leesburg, Scott Reynolds of Leesburg, Daniel C. (Katie) Johnson Jr. of Astatula, and Justin Luke (Nichole) Johnson of Altamonte Springs, his brothers, Melvin "Bud" Johnson of Caroga Lake, New York and Neil Johnson of Florida, his sisters, Gail Johnson of Stratford, New York, Cynthia Providence of Eustis and Brenda Purpura of Salisbury, New York, and nine grandchildren. The family requested those desiring direct memorials to the American Heart Association.

Kenneth C. Jones Sr.
April 08, 1935 - August 19, 2009

Kenneth C. Jones, Sr. 74 of Eustis passed away on Wednesday August 19, 2009. He was born in Varden, Pennsylvania and moved to Eustis in 2001 from Pompano Beach. Mr. Jones was a Veteran of the United States Army and a retired trucker for Frito Lay Company. He was survived by his wife Sue, his children Ruthanne Borne of Leesburg, Lisa Jo Jones of Tavares, Brenda Patrick of Leesburg, Julie Swingle of Eustis, Amy Turner of Tavares, Wendy Swingle of Eustis, Kenneth Charles Jones Jr. of Colorado, John Jones of Eustis, Stephanie Swingle of Eustis and Gracie Swingle of Eustis, his grandchildren Samantha, Michael, Aubrey, T.J., Julie, Amanda, Joanne, Justin, D.J., Kaitlen, Corey, Matthew and Mark, several great-grandchildren and his sister Janice McManus of Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania. Funeral services were held in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 3 O'clock P.M. Rev. William Boyer officiated. Interment was in Pennsylvania at a later date.

Irwin M. Jurs
June 03, 1921 - April 21, 2009

Irwin M. Jurs, 87, of Grand Island, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2009. He was born in Kendall, New York and moved here from Rochester, New York in 1982. Mr. Jurs was Lutheran and was a retired Supervisor for Rochester Gas and Electric having worked there thirty five years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, a member of the AmVets, the American Legion, the Eustis Moose Lodge and Eustis Lodge 1578 B.P.O.E.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty, a sister Eleanor Balsam of Warsaw, Virginia and several wonderful nieces and nephews. Mr. Jurs was predeceased by two brothers, Gordon and Gerald. Memorial Services with Military Honors were held in the Sun Lake Clubhouse at 1 PM on Monday, April 27, 2009 with Rev. Mamie Bryant officiating. Interment followed at a later date in Sandy Creek Cemetery, Murray, New York.

Charles W. Kennedy
November 16, 1952 - March 09, 2009

Charles Wilson "Charlie" Kennedy, 56 of Eustis passed away on Monday March 9, 2009. He was born in Eustis and lived here all his life. He was a Baptist and a member of the Eustis Eagles Club and the Eustis Moose Lodge. He is survived by his wife Lisa Ann, his daughter Leeanne Kennedy of Mount Dora, one brother James V. (Rose) Kennedy of Altoona And a sister Elizabeth Landers of Georgia. Visitation was held in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Thursday, March 12, from 4 until 6 PM.

Norma Dean Klotz
September 20, 1929 - August 17, 2009

Norma Dean Klotz, 79 of Eustis passed away on Monday, August 17, 2009. She was born in Tallassee, Alabama and moved to Central Florida in 1974 from Miami. She worked in the banking industry. She was active in the Quilters Guild and The Frogs. Mrs. Klotz was predeceased by her husband Bernard in 2003. She was survived her children John R. (Toni) Thrash of Arlington Heights, Illinois, Mark A. (Robin) Klotz of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Jennifer K. (Doug) Adams of Umatilla, her sister Edna Harrison of Tallassee, Alabama, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at 11 AM. Dr. Alan J. Holden, Pastor officiated. Interment followed in Lakeside Memory Gardens, Eustis. Friends called from 9 AM until the funeral hour.

Charles Knipfer, Sr.
August 10, 1940 - January 07, 2010

Charles J. Knipfer, 69 of Grand Island passed away on Thursday January 7, 2010. He was born in Dayton, Ohio and moved here from there in 2004. He was a retired driver for Greyhound Bus Lines and a Veteran of the United States Navy having served in the Vietnam War. He was a Baptist and a member of the Am Vets. Mr. Knipfer is survived by his sons, Charles Knipfer Jr. of Dayton, Ohio and Steve Knipfer of Lenore City, Tennessee, three grandchildren and his life partner Bertha A. Prado of Grand Island.

Frank John Kucik
July 26, 1927 - July 15, 2009

Mr. Frank J. Kucik, 81 of Leesburg, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2009. He was born in Chicago, Illinois and moved here from Merrillville, Indiana in 1991, he was a retired iron worker and attended the First Baptist Church of Eustis. Mr. Kucik was a Veteran having served in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII; he was a member of the Eustis Moose Lodge, Iron Workers Local 395 of Hammond Indiana and was an avid flower gardener and outdoorsman. He is survived by his wife Marilyn Joyce, his children David Frank (Patricia) Kucik of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, Daniel Kenneth (Gwen) Kucik of Zellwood, Laurie (Jack) Hostetler of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, his grandchildren Christina Hilleman, Kenneth Kucik, Kevin Kucik, Adam Hostetler, Aaron Hostetler and Alex Hostetler and one great-granddaughter Ella Hilleman. Funeral services were held in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel at 2 PM Saturday with Dr. Skip Haymans of the First Baptist Church of Eustis officiating, interment followed in Lakeside Memory Gardens, Eustis.

Christine Kanar Laffin
September 08, 1916 - June 23, 2009

CHRISTINE KANAR LAFFIN of Eustis and Mt. Dora passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2009. She was born in Abbeville, South Carolina and came to Central Florida from Kansas in 1959. She was a realtor by profession, owned a real estate business with her husband, Robert Laffin, and won many awards and certificates in that capacity. She was an avid golfer and member of Pine Meadows Golf Club for many years, active in her community as member of Garden Club, Hospice for Women, and the Board of Realtors, and a longstanding member of the First Presbyterian Church, Eustis. Christine is survived by her husband, Robert Laffin; son, Steve Kanar and wife Carol; daughter, Margaret Kanar Yonkovich and husband David; Stepsons Peter Laffin, Christopher Laffin, and Robert Laffin Jr.; sister, Kathryn Grant; three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. There was a memorial service at 2 PM on Sunday, June 28 in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel. In lieu of flowers please direct memorials to Cornerstone Hospice 2445 Lane Park Road Tavares, 32778. Bryan Randolph Langford, age 38, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2009. Bryan was born April 16, 1970 in Columbia, SC. He was the owner and operator of a sports bar.

He is survived by his mother and father, Carole and Larry Langford of Franklin, NC; grandparents, Howard and Ellen Allison of Waynesville, NC; son, Jesse Langford of Lake Helen, FL; brother, Blaine Langford of Eustis, FL.

A Memorial Service was held on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 11:00AM at Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Directors, Eustis, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wachovia Bank, Sherif El-Shami benefit account, care Orange City Police.
