Enid M. Miller
March 14, 1929 - July 21, 2009

Enid M. Miller, 80 passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at her home in Umatilla, Florida. She was born March 14, 1929 at home in White Oak Township, Ingham County, Michigan, the daughter of Edward J. Whipple and Mabel E. (Peterson) Whipple, the youngest of ten children. She was a member of the Umatilla Seventh-day Adventist Church. She retired from Florida Hospital Orlando in 1991, having worked there for 20 years as a Nursing Assistant. She will be remembered as a gentle soul, an avid reader and history buff. She was jokingly referred to as a "walking encyclopedia" by her family and friends especially when it came to having answers to questions regarding Biblical history. She is survived by her three children Kathleen Greenfield of Umatilla, Florida, Judy Ayers of Jacksonville, Florida, and Fred Miller of Eustis, Florida; her grandchildren Marcus Helms of Savannah, Georgia, Sophie Ayers of Arcadia, Florida and Christina Miller of Charleston, West Virginia; great-grandchildren Christian and Sebastian Helms of Sanford, Florida. She is also survived by a sister Marjorie Hepburn of Chelsea, Michigan and several nieces and nephews. Her close friend in recent years was Gladys Marie Gerhke a niece of Asotin, Washington. She was preceded in death by two brothers, six sisters and one great-granddaughter, Sara Ayers. Her son-in-law Glenn Greenfield is remembered as part of her family and for his support during her illness. She was very thankful for his help and her many caregivers especially Dolly, Anne & her hospice team. Memorial services were held in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Sunday, August 2, 2009 at 2 PM with Pastor Jim Appel officiating. The final resting place is Lakeside Memory Gardens in Eustis.

Paul Charles Miller
May 05, 1940 - November 17, 2009

Paul Charles Miller, 69, of Eustis passed away on Tuesday November 17, 2009. He was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Paul Albert and Gertrude Levering Miller and had moved to Eustis earlier this year from Ochopee, Florida. Mr. Miller was Roman Catholic and attended St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church of Eustis. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a retired Firefighter having served the City of Ochopee for over 20 years. Funeral Mass will be held at a later date in Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church of Land o Lakes, Florida. Interment will follow in Florida Hills Memorial Gardens, Spring Hill, Florida. The family requests memorials be directed to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778

Mary Avalone Mills
November 06, 1934 - November 27, 2009

Mary Avalone Mills, 75, of Eustis passed away on Friday, November 27, 2009. She was born in Newark, New Jersey and came here from Wallingford, Connecticut in 1991. She was Catholic and had worked at Gimball's Department Store. She is survived by four stepchildren, Thomas E. Mills, Walter B. Mills, Peter G. Mills and Mary Ann Corcoran and four grandchildren.

Verna Murray
July 11, 1929 - December 02, 2009

Verna A. Murray 80, of Mount Dora, passed away on Wednesday December 2, 2009. Mrs. Murray moved here in 1960 from Indiana and was a Christian. She owned and operated gift shops. She is survived by her sons David Edwards of Apopka and Bruce Edwards of Mount Dora.

Jack M. Neal
August 13, 2009

Jack M., Neal, 74, of Eustis passed away at his home on Thursday, August 13, 2009. He was born in San Antonio, Texas and moved to Eustis from Orlando in 2000. Mr. Neal was the former owner of G.A.I. Inc Drywall of Orlando and was an avid fisherman. He was survived by his wife Carol, his children Steven (Mary) Neal and Cheryl Hobbs all of Umatilla, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services were held in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel, Eustis. In lieu of flowers the family requested memorials be made to a favorite charity in memory of Mr. Neal.

Kenneth G. Novak
November 10, 1930 - October 21, 2009

Kenneth G. Novak, 78 of Eustis passed away in Tavares on Wednesday, October 21, 2009. He was born in Downers Grove, Illinois and moved here in 1973 from Pompano Beach. Ken was a Baptist, a Veteran having served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, and a member of American Legion Post 41 of Eustis. Mr. Novak worked for Suter Air Conditioning of Leesburg for many years. He is survived by his wife Peggy, his children Oren G. Novak of Leominster, Massachusetts and Linda Marini of Massachusetts, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and his brother Richard Novak of Mulvane, Kansas. Services were held in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on October 28, 2009. Rev. William Boyer officiated. Interment will take place at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, Eustis.

Robert H. O'Brien
October 28, 1931 - December 07, 2009

Mr. Robert H. "Bob' O'Brien, of Mount Dora, passed away on Monday, December 7th, 2009 at the age of 78 years. Bob was born in Avella, PA to Theodore R. and Marguerite (Waters) O'Brien. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and retired after more than 21 years of service to his country. He went on to work for the Board of Education in New York State and taught in the public schools and at Dowling College. He moved to Mount Dora in 1992 after his marriage to Lorraine. Bob was an avid bowler at Triangle Lanes. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for more than 25 years and was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Mount Dora. He was also a former Eucharistic Minister and ran the video at the church for many years. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Lorraine R. O'Brien; children, John & Anthony O'Brien and Porzia Purves; step-children, Robert, Scott, Kevin, Valerie & Laura Karles; sisters, Betty Riser and Barbara Mankey; as well as 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Norma Welch, Delores Johnson and Georgetta Keil and brother, Richard O'Brien. The family gathered with friends on Sunday, December 13th,2009 at the funeral home for viewing. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, December 14, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Mount Dora. Burial followed at Florida National cemetery in Bushnell. Arrangements were entrusted to Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Directors, Eustis, FL, 352-357-4193.

Sadie McConaha Oglesby
January 04, 1932 - August 14, 2009

Sadie McConaha Oglesby, 77, of Eustis passed away on Friday August 14, 2009. She was born in Oviedo, Florida and moved here from Ocklawaha in 2005. She was a Baptist and worked as a convenience store clerk. She was survived by three sons, Kenneth Richards of Leesburg, Ronald and Steven Richards both of Orlando.

John A. Parsons
January 14, 1928 - January 12, 2010

Mr. John Albert Parsons, of Umatilla, passed away on Tuesday, January 12th, 2010 at the age of 81 years. John was born January 14th, 1928 in Ironton, Ohio. He moved to this area in 1992 from Orlando. He was a retired Superintendent and Law Arbitrator in the Commercial Construction business. John was preceded in death by his wife, Betty and his son, Danny. He is remembered by his daughter and son in law, Holly and Dr. Matthew Castner of Eustis; son and daughter in law, John and Beverly Parsons of Camarillo, CA; his sister, Frances "Sissy" Seeger or Orlando; 7 grandchildren, Scott Parsons, Shannon Parsons, Randy Parsons, Krisliane Parsons, Matthew Kolozsvary, Michael Kolozsvary and Mark Kolozsvary; as well as 2 great-grandchildren, Sean Parsons and Sierra Parsons.

A Graveside Ceremony was held on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Chapel Hill cemetery in Orlando. Arrangements were entrusted to Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Directors, Eustis, FL, 352-357-4193.

Nanubhai T. Patel
March 13, 1947 - December 04, 2009

Mr. Nanubhai T. Patel passed away on Friday, December 4th, 2009 at the age of 62 years. Nanu was the former owner of Caramar Motor Lodge in Eustis and was currently working at Lakeview Terrace in Altoona. A visitation was held on Sunday, December 6th from 2:00 - 5:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Services took place on Monday, Dec. 7 at 10:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Arrangements were entrusted to Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Directors, 326 East Orange Avenue, Eustis, FL 32726, 352-357-4193.

Lillian Paul
August 06, 1917 - October 11, 2009

Mrs. Lillian Paul 92 of Ft. Walton Beach passed away on October 11, 2009. She was born in Equador and moved to Ft. Walton Beach in 2005 from Orlando. She was a member of St. John's Vianney Catholic Church of Orlando, and served as a volunteer for the Arnold Palmer Hospital also of Orlando. Mrs. Paul worked for many years at Sanderson's Nursery and Garden Center of Orlando. She is survived by her sons; Richard M. (Vicki) Paul of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida and Michael E. (Muriel) Paul of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mrs. Paul was predeceased by her husband Raymond M. Paul in 2000 and her daughter Laurel Mann in 1993. Memorial services will be held in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Saturday November 28 at One O'clock P.M. with Deacon William Fisher of St. Patrick Catholic Church of Mount Dora, Florida officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Eustis.

July 28, 1912 - September 19, 2009

Ann M. Pollard, 97, of Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania passed away on Friday September 19, 2009. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and was a Baptist and a homemaker. Mrs. Pollard was survived by her children Tricia (Randy) Deemer of Conneaut Lake and David "T.J." (Jill) Pollard of Roswell, Georgia and her grandchildren Miranda (Erik) Larson, Jessamyn Deemer, Griff Pollard and Morgan Pollard. Services were held at the graveside in Lakeside Memory Gardens of Eustis at 2:30 PM on Friday September 25, with Dr. Alan J. Holden, Pastor officiating.

Ronald Ponton
November 08, 1936 - May 18, 2009

Ronald A. Ponton, 72, of Eustis passed away on May 17, 2009. He was born in New York City and moved here in 2002 from Saratoga Springs, New York. He was Catholic. He is survived by his wife Janet, his children Peggy Ann Ponton of North Charleston, South Carolina, Sheryl Marie Ponton of Tampa, Florida, Ronald (Shannon) Ponton Jr. of Corinth, New York, Sharon Patricia Pemble of Windsor, South Carolina and David Michael (Betty) Ponton of North Charleston, South Carolina, and his sisters, Eleanor Price of Camarillo, California and Maurine MacDurmon of Baldwinsville, New York.

Gladys M. Porter

Gladys M. Porter, 94 of Eustis passed away in Tavares on Sunday October 11, 2009. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio and moved here from there in 1937. Mrs. Porter was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Eustis, the Avion Travelcade Club and the Fleetwood Travelcade Club. She is survived by her husband Donald J., her children Donald E. ((Linda) Porter of Dunnellon, Florida and David W. (Syl) Porter of Eustis, her grandchildren, Tammy (Jay) DeShan of McKinney, Texas, David (Sue) Porter of Mount Dora, Julie Porter of Cary, North Carolina and Michael (Christine) Porter of Geneva, Switzerland, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. The family requests those desiring direct memorials to The First Presbyterian Church, 117 S. Center Street, Eustis, Florida 32726 or Cornerstone Hospice. The family received friends in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Wednesday, October 14. Services were held in The First Presbyterian Church of Eustis on Thursday, October 15. Rev. Leon Bloder officiated. Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery, Eustis.

James G. Poynter
November 10, 1922 - December 08, 2009

James G. Poynter, 87 of Eustis passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2009. He was born in Mason, Michigan and moved here from Charlotte, Michigan in 1978. He was retired from General Motors after 30 years of service and was a Baptist. Mr. Poynter served his country in the U. S. Army Air Corp during WWII and was a Life Member of V.F.W. Post 8087 of Eustis and the Eustis Moose Lodge. He is survived by his wife Betty and his step children, Sue (Fred) Pait of Eustis, Sharon Baker (Roger) Alderman of Palmer, Alaska, John (Mary) Baker of Fruitland Park, Kay Baker (Rick) Campbell of Eustis, Bob (Jill) Baker of Eustis and Amanda Baker of Jacksonville. Memorial Services were held in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 10 AM. Rev. William Boyer officiated.

David E. Rich
November 21, 1940 - June 30, 2009

David E. Rich, 68, passed away on Tuesday June 30, 2009 he was born in Eustis and lived here all his life. Mr. Rich was a Baptist and was a retired cable splicer for Sprint Telephone having worked there for 26 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Signal Corp for three years, and a member of the National Rifle Association. He is survived by his children Greg (Amy) Rich of Eustis, Jeff Rich of Umatilla and Brenda Rich of Lineville, Alabama, his mother Ruth DeLidle Rich of Eustis, his brother Gordon of Eustis and six grandchildren, Ashley Root, Adam Root, Clay Rich, Dalton Rich, Dustin Rich and Chad Rich. He "Loved Many Kids". The family received friends in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Monday July 6 from 4 until 6 PM. Funeral services was held from the graveside in Greenwood cemetery Eustis at 10 AM Tuesday, July 7, with Mr. Robert F. Bender, Minister, officiating. The family requests those desiring direct memorials to The NRA Foundation, Inc., 11250 Waples Mill Road, Fairfax, VA 22030.
Mildred L. Montsdeoca Roberts
November 28, 1918 - September 30, 2009

Mildred Montsdeoca Roberts 90 of Eustis passed away on Wednesday September 30, 2009. She was born in Ft. Bassinger, Florida and moved to Eustis from Avon Park, Florida in 1955. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Eustis and the Anna Miller Circle of Eustis Lodge 1578 B.P.O.E. She was predeceased by her husband Lawton Roberts in 1976. Mrs. Roberts is survived by her daughters Carolyn Randle and Linda Roberts of The Villages and her grandchildren Kelly (David) Butterfield of Winter Springs, Greg Rue and Brannon (Anne) Rue of Lake Mary, Tracy (Todd) Randle and Tina (Jesse) Perkins of Tampa, her sister Thelma (Frank) Schaefer of Ormond Beach and nine great-grandchildren. The family received friends in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Sunday October 4. Services were held in the Chapel on Monday October 5, 2009 with graveside services in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lake Placid.

Margaret Beth Robin
March 24, 1962 - June 01, 2009

Margaret Beth Robin 47, of Eustis passed away in Orlando on Monday, June 1, 2009. She was born in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, raised in Orlando and moved to Eustis from Douglasville, Georgia in 2001. She was Lutheran. Beth graduated from Orlando Boone High School in 1980, was the owner of The Crazy Gator restaurant in Eustis and was active in Eustis Main Street and the Eustis Chamber of Commerce. Beth is survived by her husband Steven, son, Michael of Eustis, mother and her husband, Molly May Feagans and David of Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, father and his wife Larry Lynn Funk and Susie of Boonsboro, Maryland, grandmothers Helen Funk of Boonsboro, Maryland and Elizabeth Harp of Greencastle, Pennsylvania, her step sister Anne Veazey of Leesburg and her step brother Chris Feagans of Stuart, Florida. Memorial services was held in the Trinity Evangelical Free Church of Eustis with Dr. David Strem officiating on Friday June 5, at 10 AM. The family requested memorials to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Central Florida, 3319 Maguire Blvd., Suite 101, Orlando, FL 32803.

James R. Rustay
August 03, 1937 - October 09, 2009

Mr. James Ralph Rustay, of Leesburg, passed away on Friday, October 9th, 2009 at the age of 72 years. Born in Buffalo, NY, he resided in Florida since 1981. He worked in Real Estate sales throughout his life. James is survived by his wife of 50 years, Deanna; son, Dean James Rustay of Winter Park; daughters, Colleen Patricia Carey and her husband, Brian and Kathleen Marie Wieland of Leesburg; brothers, Robert C. Rustay of Schenectady, NY and William Rustay of Buffalo, NY as well as 6 grandchildren, Danielle Rustay, Clayton Carey, Lauren Carey, Harrison Wieland, Noah Wieland and Tatianna Carey. A Mass of the Resurrection was held on Monday, October 12th at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Leesburg. Arrangements were entrusted to Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Directors, Eustis, FL, 352-357-4193.
