John W. Sorensen Sr.
September 4, 1920 - December 12, 2010

John W. Sorensen, Sr. 90 of Grand Island passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2010. He was born in Lakeview, Iowa and moved here in 1982 from Curtice, Ohio. He was a retired machinist for Sun Oil Company and a Lutheran. He was a member of the Florida Winnebago Club, the Mid Florida Winnebago Club, the Sunshine Winnies, the Florida Good Sams Club and the Golden Triangle Good Sams Club.

He is survived by his sons, John W. (Denise) Sorensen Jr. of Westminster, Colorado and Douglas (Michelle) Sorensen of Curtice, Ohio, his daughter Joyce Nissen of Grand Island, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 PM on Thursday in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel Eustis, services will be held at 2 PM on Friday in the Chapel with Rev. William Boyer officiating, interment will follow at Lakeside Memory Gardens, Eustis. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.

Virginia L. Claypoole
January 2, 1927 - December 13, 2010

Virginia L. Claypoole 83, of Mount Dora passed away on Monday, December 13, 2010. She was born in New Kensington, Pennsylvania. Mrs. Claypoole was Catholic and attended the First Baptist Church of Eustis. She was the former secretary for the New Kensington Chamber of Commerce. Those desiring may direct memorials to the charity of their choice.

She was predeceased by her husband Clifford Lloyd Claypoole in 2002 and is survived by her son Dennis (Joann) Claypoole of Sorrento, Florida, daughter Bonnie (Robert) Derr of Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, her grandchildren Joseph ( Valery) Anthony Claypoole, Clifford Adam Claypoole, Matthew James Claypoole and Noah Emerson Claypoole and her great grandson William Lloyd Claypoole. Virginia will be taken to Giunta – Bertucci Funeral Home (724-337-1212) of Arnold, Pennsylvania for final services.

Esther N. Ivansheck
December 14, 2010

Esther N. Ivansheck 94, of Eustis, passed away on Tuesday December 14, 2010. She was born in Norway and moved to Eustis in 1970 from Croton of the Hudson, New York. She was Lutheran. Mrs. Ivansheck is survived by her son Eric of Eustis and her grandchildren, Kristin Ivansheck of New Haven, Connecticut, Alexandria Ivansheck of Schenectady, New York, Zachary Ivansheck of Schenectady and Amanda Ivansheck of Colchester, Connecticut.

Richard A. Baugh
November 13, 1956 - December 13, 2010

Richard A. Baugh 54, of Eustis, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2010. He was born in Lubbock, Texas and moved here in 1968. Mr. Baugh was a Christian and the owner/operator of Richard Baugh Mechanical Contracting. He was a Veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps.

He is survived by his wife Pamela, his children, Leetice Baugh, Jason Baugh, Nathaniel Baugh U.S.M.C.Lejeune, North Carolina, Roman Baugh, Sierra Baugh, and Torren Baugh all of Eustis, his mother Doris Baugh of Tavares, brothers, Duane (Doreen) Baugh of Eustis and Jerry Baugh of Groveland, sisters, Lisa Carrico of Savannah, Georgia and Cheryl (Scott) Brom of Panama City, Florida and his grandchildren, Bryce Watson of Blue Springs, Missouri and Wyeth Allyn Wuthnow of Lowry City, Missouri.

Memorial services were held in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel in Eustis on Saturday December 18, 2010. Pastor Theodis Bob officiated. Interment will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Toys for Tots, you may bring a new unwrapped toy to the Funeral Home.

William Thomas Glidewell
August 4, 1917 - December 15, 2010

William Thomas Glidewell, 93, of Tavares passed away Wednesday, December 15th. “Tee”, as he was known to his friends, was born August 4, 1917, in McNairy County, Tennessee. He moved to Florida in 1946 and was an Army Veteran of WWII, serving in Africa and Italy. He married Martha Stone on December 8, 1946.

The marriage was blessed with three daughters Linda Berto (deceased), Gloria Glidewell of Fort Worth, Texas and Jennifer Martin of Tavares; nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. He was the Lake County Transportation Supervisor for twenty eight years and was instrumental in the requirement of air brakes on school busses. He was honored by the Florida Association for Pupil Transportation as their “Pioneer” in 1992. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tavares for more then 50 years and a long standing member of the Tavares Kiwanis Club.

There was a visitation on Friday, December 17, 2010 at the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel in Eustis. Services were held at 10 AM Saturday, December 18, 2010, also in the Chapel. Pastor Richard Fountain officiated. Interment with military honors followed in Lakeside Memory Gardens, Eustis.

Lucila F. Fiallos
August 19, 1926 - December 19, 2010

Lucila F. Fiallos 84, of Eustis, passed away on Sunday December 19, 2010. She was born in Nicaragua and moved here from Miami in 2003.

Mrs. Fiallos was Catholic and is survived by her children; Kenneth A. Fiallos of Tampa, Maria G. O’Neill of Tampa, Lucile I. Fiallos of Eustis, Iris B. Finstad of Homestead, Florida, Elizabeth D. Hall of Cutler Bay, Florida, Felix A. Fiallos of North Miami and Miranda R. Fiallos of Miami.

Vera M. Ownby
December 10, 1919 - December 28, 2010

Vera M. Ownby of Jacksons Gap, Alabama, formerly of Eustis, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the age of 91 years. She was born in Burke County, GA on December 21, 1919. Vera was a homemaker and also worked at Cape Canaveral many years ago. She lived in Eustis for about 15 years and relocated to Jacksons Gap, Alabama about 8 years ago. She enjoyed babysitting and her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, James. Vera is remembered by her sons, William Cokinos of Holly Hill, FL and Mitchell Cokinos of Deland, FL; Step-sons, James Ownby, Jr. of Port Orange, FL and Barry Ownby of New Smyrna Beach, FL; step-daughters, Francine Applebee of Ft. Pierce, FL, Mary Margaret Ownby of New Smyrna Beach, FL and Amanda Lee Donnelly of Coco Beach, FL; brothers, James Fann of Marietta, GA and Sam Fann of Live Oak, FL; sisters, Norma Brown of Jacksons Gap, AL and Eloise Womble of Titus, Al; grandchildren, Samara Clarke of Daytona Beach, FL, Brooke Rowell of Pompano Beach, FL, James Rowell of Manchester, NH, David Ownby of Barberville, FL, Daniel Rowell of Pierson, FL and Cody Rowell of Pierson, FL as well as 3 great grandchildren. Friends are invited to gather for viewing on Monday, January 3, 2011 from 10 am – 12 noon at Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Directors Chapel, 326 East Orange Avenue, Eustis, FL 32726. Graveside ceremony will follow at Lakeside Memory Gardens, 36601 CR 19A, Eustis, FL 32726. Arrangements are entrusted to Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Directors, 352-357-4193.

Danny Boyer
June 12, 1959 - December 28, 2010

Mr. Danny Boyer, of Mount Dora, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the age of 51 years. He was born in New Madrid County, Missouri and moved to central Florida over 40 years ago from St. Louis, Missouri. Danny worked in maintenance for J&R Orange Groves in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL. He enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is remembered by his son, James (Allie) Boyer of Mount Dora, FL; daughter, Lisa (John) Boyer-Demircan of Mount Dora, FL; grandchildren, Cassidy, Dylan and Todd; brothers, Roger of St. Louis, MO, Bobbie of South Carolina, John and Ernie, both of St. Louis, MO; sisters, Norma and Diana, both of Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to InterCommuntiy Cancer Center, 301 S. Lake Street, Leesburg, FL 34748. Carl T. Kelley
December 21, 1938 - August 15, 2011

Carl T. Kelley 72, of Eustis, passed away on August 15, 2011. He was born in Pedro, Ohio and moved here in 1959. He was a retired truck driver having worked with Coca Cola and Minute Maid and was an avid hunter.

Mr. Kelley is survived by his wife Judy, his children Thomas (Julie) Kelley of Apopka, Tonya (Randy) Mayo of New Smyrna Beach, step children, Julie (Joe) Oglesby of Eustis and Robin (Jay) Keller of Weisdale, several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life was held Sunday, August 28th from 2:00 - 4:30 PM at VFW Post 10147, 519 South Central Ave, Apopka.

In lieu of flowers the family requests those desiring to make donations to Boggy Creek Gang Camp Inc., 352-483-4200, in memory of Carl T. Kelley.

John Milton Wood
May 2, 1938 - August 22, 2011

John Milton Wood 73, of Eustis, passed away Monday, August 22, 2011. He was born in Washington, D.C., however he grew up in the Miami area. John retired after 30 years with the City of Miami Fire Department, having obtained the rank of Deputy Fire Marshall. He moved to Eustis in 2002 from Key Largo. John was a Christian, a member of the First Baptist Church of Umatilla, an active member of the North Lake Tea Party and a true Patriot.

John is survived by Patti, his wife of 31 years; his mother Helen Wood, brother Tommy (Carol) Wood, sons Dennis (Lourdes) Wood, Danny Wood, Dwayne (Pam) Wood and Dean (Stephanie) Wood, stepsons Todd and Joe (Heather) Harter, seventeen grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A service celebrating John’s life was held in The First Baptist Church of Umatilla on Friday, August 26th at 10 AM. Reverend Brooks Braswell officiated.

George T. Green, Jr.
March 24, 1960 - August 26, 2011

Mr. George T. Green, Jr. of Eustis, FL, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2011 at the age of 51 years. He was born in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. He moved to central Florida in 1970 from Hawaii. George was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School, class of 1978 in Orlando. George served his country in the US Army. He lived mostly in the Orlando area and relocated to Eustis one year ago. George worked as a department manager for an ambulance manufacturing company in Orlando for 15 years. He enjoyed Golf.

George was preceded in death by his mother, Tina. He is remembered by his father, George, Sr. of Eustis; brother and sister in law, Charles and Yvette Green of Eustis and his sister and brother in law, Karen and Butch Ross of West Virginia.

Gathering with viewing was held on Monday, August 29 from 5:00 - 6:00 pm with a funeral ceremony starting at 6:00 pm, all in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in West Virginia. Arrangements are entrusted to Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Directors, Eustis, 352-357-4193.

Mildreth Reynolds Roy
February 2, 1924 - August 28, 2011

Mildreth Reynolds Roy passed away peacefully at her home in Mount Dora, Florida on Sunday, August 28, 2011 after a long illness. She was born on February 2, 1924 in Keene, New Hampshire to Edward L. and Theresa H. Reynolds. She was predeceased by her husband, Roland O. Roy, her parents and brother, Edward L. Reynolds. Mildreth was very devoted to her husband, her family and her community. For 35 years, she, her husband and family owned and operated Roy’s Market in Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire. Mildreth was loved by the small, close knit community. She and Roland lived over the store for many years. With the bus stop right outside, many of the local children would visit the store often and Mildreth looked out for all of them, transferring messages back and forth to the children and their parents. After retiring they moved to Florida.

Mrs. Roy is survived by a daughter, Cynthia (David) Perdew of Winter Park, FL; son, Roland O. (Carol) Roy of Cheshire, CT; grandson, Christopher Roy, a student at Fairfield College in CT; sisters, Marjorie R. Taylor of Zephyrhills and Dorothy R. Crawford of Umatilla.

Friends were invited to gather at the funeral home chapel on Thursday, Sept 1 from 10:30 until the funeral ceremony start time of 11:00 am. A graveside ceremony will be held at St. Patrick Catholic cemetery in Jaffrey, NH. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Director, Eustis, FL 352-357-4193. Condolences may be left for the family by signing the guestbook below.

Gary Scott Patton
December 5, 1952 - August 29, 2011

Gary Patton, 58, passed away Monday, August 29, 2011, in Lecanto, Florida, doing what he loved to do, working with his horses.

Gary was born December 5, 1952, in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. His father, Lester Scott Patton and mother, Marion were both teachers. He had a love for horses and followed his passion to Colorado Springs, Colorado where he earned a Master Ferrier Certificate and was himself a U.S.T.A. Trainer and Driver. Gary moved to Florida in the early 1980s and raised his family; son Scott Patton and daughter Jessica Duncan. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Cook Patton; step-mother, Elvie Patton; two children and their spouses, Scott and Amanda Patton and Shaun and Jessica Duncan; step-children and their spouses, Tony and Kendra Reeves and Ray and Kathryn Adams; and known affectionately as Grampie and Poppie to his 6 grandchildren, Hannah, Barrett, Nathan, Hunter, Kallie and Emma. In addition, he will be missed and was loved by the Central Florida equine community. He was a member and Past President of the Rotary Club of Belleview, Florida and Past President of the Belleview Dixie Youth Baseball League. He had attended St. Mary’s Episcopal Church of Ocala. The family requests those desiring direct memorials to the Rotary Club of Belleview.

A gathering of family and friends was held in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel from 6 until 8 PM on Thursday, September 1st, memorial services were held in the First Baptist Church of Eustis on Friday September 2nd at 2 PM with Chaplain Robert Whitworth officiating.

Ted H. Chapman
March 23, 1942 - September 4, 2011

Ted H. Chapman 69, of Mount Dora, passed away on September 4, 2011. He was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota and moved to this area in 1971. He was a devoted Christian. He graduated from Gardner High in Gardner, Kansas in 1960; he was on the track and basketball teams. He served in the United States Navy. Ted was a professional tennis instructor, having worked for many years at Silver Lake Country Club of Leesburg and currently was the Physical Education Instructor at the Lake Montessori and Learning Institute in Leesburg.

He is survived by his daughters, Michelle (Jeff) Brice of Hattiesburg, Mississippi and Tina (Bret) Brooks-Poe of Eustis, five grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Ted was predeceased by his daughter Lisa Chapman in 1987.

Memorial Services were held in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Saturday at 11 AM, the family received friends from 9 AM until the service hour. The family requests memorials to the Golden Triangle YMCA Scholarship Fund, 1465 David Walker Drive, Tavares, FL. 32778.
