Stephen Lyle Chappell
Stephen Lyle Chappell, 55, of Leesburg, FL passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2008.
Stephen lived in Central Florida for most of his life. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp.
Stephen worked as an agent for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida for over 16 years.
He was a loving father to daughters, Monica A. Dobbs (Roy) of Eustis, FL, Cierra L. Chappell (Dale) of Mount Dora, FL, and Brooke A. Chappell of Tavares, FL; sons, Steven L. Chappell and Anthony M. Chappell, both of Cape Canaveral, FL. He is also survived by brothers, Ronnie (Connie), Robert (Chris), and James (Tina); sisters, Donna Ivey (Don), Sandy Hammond (Ford), and Sherry Homiak (Nick); one grandchild, Tyler; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Jane Chappell.
At his request, there will be no service. His ashes will be placed along with his parents’ in Mineville, NY.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in his name to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778.

Patricia Elizabeth Riley
Patricia Elizabeth Riley, 77, of Mount Dora, Florida, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 13th, 2008 of complications due to Parkinson's disease.
She was born November 9th, 1931 in Waterloo Iowa, the daughter of Eli and Adelaide Decker Alexander.
Pat graduated from University of Northern Iowa with a degree in physical education.
She married Donald Eugene Riley on March 14th, 1952. They were together for 56 years.
Pat traveled extensively. She was skilled at needlecrafts and enjoyed antiquing and discussing politics with her 'Cronies'.
Pat taught elementary and physical education. She remained involved in education through the PTA, the libraries and coaching sports while she raised her girls. She was passionate about Girl Scouting, was a leader and camped with her daughters' troops.
Pat is survived by her husband; daughters Ann Riley-Gawura (John) of Dewitt, Michigan; Susan Jesse (David) of Orlando, Florida; and Sally Bennett (David) of Concord, North Carolina. She is also survived by grandchildren; Katherine, Kristin, Nicholas, Allison, Elizabeth, Jessica and Abigail.
Pat was preceded in death by sisters Dorothy Palmer, Jackie Chappelle, Louise Ceglar and Helen (Mickey) Davis.
Memorial services will be held at Waterman Village Chapel in Mt. Dora on Sunday, November 16 at 12:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Girl Scout Hornet's Nest Council, 7007 Idlewood, Charlotte, NC 28212 (www.hngirlscouts.org) or Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Rd, Tavares, FL 32778 (www.cornerstonehospice.org) in Pat's memory.

Elizabeth (Betsy) Blair Kramer
Elizabeth (Betsy) Blair Kramer, died on Thursday, November 13, 2008.
She was born on May 7, 1923, to Tracy M. and Elizabeth Blair Kramer in Moon Township, PA. Her family came to Mount Dora, FL when Betsy was 2 years old and moved into the house that is now the Mount Dora City Hall on Baker Street.
She graduated from Mount Dora High School and Stetson University. Betsy went on to receive a Masters Degree in Social Work from Tulane University in New Orleans and used that degree counseling people in New Orleans, LA, Columbia, SC and Miami, FL.
She worked the last fourteen years before her retirement at the Community Mental Health Center in Daytona Beach, FL.
She moved to Lakeview Terrace in Altoona, FL in 2000 and spent her retirement enjoying her leisure time and her surrogate family.
She is survived by the family of Richard and Bette Dufour of Mount Dora, FL; Judi and Chuck McCullar of Bunnell, FL; Ron and Gwen Dufour of Tavares, FL; her goddaughter, Lia Dufour of Mount Dora, FL; and sister-in-law, Jane Kramer who resides in Altoona, FL.
A graveside service will be held at the Kramer plot in Pine Forest cemetery in Mount Dora, FL at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 with Father John Jacobs officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ms. Kramer’s name may be made to the Humane Society of Lake County, P.O. Box 1904, Eustis, FL 32727-1904.

Roger E. Lacher
Roger E. Lacher, 75, of Mount Dora, FL passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2008.
Mr. Lacher was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 26, 1932 to the late Elmer Lacher and Mildred (Brotherton) Lacher.
Mr. Lacher was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served his country during the Korean conflict.
He moved to Mount Dora from Venice, FL in 2004. He was the owner of Venice Pest Control.
Mr. Lacher is survived by his wife, Sandra Lacher of Mount Dora, FL; sons, Roger D. Lacher and Steven A. Lacher, both of Venice, FL; sister, Carol Shapphacker; three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Paul J. Ariola, Sr.
Paul J. Ariola, Sr., 77, of Leesburg, FL passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2008.
He was born on December 7, 1930 in Waterbury, CT to the late Joseph T. Ariola and Dorothy (Datillio) Ariola.
Mr. Ariola moved to Central Florida from Waterbury, CT in 1980 after working for 27 years for the Waterbury Police Department as a Lieutenant in the City of Waterbury, CT. He was past President of the Police Union in Waterbury, Connecticut and past Vice President of AFL-CIO.
He served in the Army Reserves for 12 years and was a member of St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church in Eustis, FL.
Mr. Ariola is survived by his wife, Patricia B. Ariola of Leesburg, FL; sons, Paul J. Ariola, Jr. (Joanne) of Watertown, CT, and Joseph L. Ariola (Mary) of Watertown, CT; daughters, Michele Falcone (Patrick) of Tavares, FL, Jacqueline Mastrangeli (Paul) of Irving, TX, Toni Murphy (Robert) of Leesburg, FL, and Patricia Cerullo (Tony) of Wolcott, CT; brother, Edward Ariola (Elaine) of Southington, CT; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at the Allen J. Harden Funeral Home in Mount Dora, FL.
A funeral mass will be held at 9 AM on Friday, November 14, 2008 at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church in Eustis, FL.
Interment will take place at All Saints cemetery in Waterbury, CT.

James K. (J.K.) Smith
James K. (J.K.) Smith, was born on a farm near Ekron, KY in Meade County, KY on February 10, 1916. He attended Western KY State Teachers College in Bowling Green, KY. He lived in Mount Dora, FL.
He was employed for 42 years in an executive capacity in the private sector of the Rural Electric Program. He was first employed at the age of 21 as a manager of the Fleming Mason Rural Electric Coop at Flemingsburg, KY. For 22 years he was the first CEO of the KY Trade Association of State Rural Electric Association on Coops. For 10 years he was the first CEO of the private banking organization for rural electric programs across the country.
All of his adult employment was in management and for 42 years reported to a board of directors. He was known as one of the outstanding leaders in the rural electric program. He was one of the youngest managers of the rural electric system that provided rural electric service from Ashland, KY to Brooksville, KY in the rural areas of the State of KY.
Under his management of the rural electric trade association of KY they established manufacturing of transformers and the sale of electric line equipment to rural electric coops not only in KY, but also to coops in other states.
He coordinated the development of an electric coop in Ecuador. He led a feasibility study to provide electric service to rural villages of Thailand.
He was recognized by the U.S. State Department by Secretary of State Dean Rusk for his work and contributions to rural electric systems in foreign countries.
The National Rural Utility Cooperative Corporation of which he was the first president and CEO with offices in the Georgetown area of Washington, DC named its office building the “J K Smith Building”.
In KY a cooperative was established to generate electric power for resale to its member cooperatives and a power plant was named “J K Smith Power Plant”.
A book about the rural electric program in KY written by David Dick has recently been published. The book titled “Let There Be Light” is dedicated to J K Smith for his lifelong contributions to the rural electric program.
He retired in 1979 and moved from Virginia to south Florida initially and subsequently settled in Apopka, FL and finally located at Waterman Village in Mount Dora, FL.
He was married to Marjorie T. Smith for 70 years. He has one son, James T. Smith, Louisville, KY and one grandson, Brook T. Smith, Louisville, KY and 3 great-grandsons, Reed, Mac and Grayson all living in Louisville, KY.
A memorial service will be held at the chapel at Waterman Village in Mount Dora, FL at 2 PM on Monday, November 24, 2008.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr. Smith's memory to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778.

Rebekah Taylor Sueur
Rebekah Taylor Sueur, 86, died Wednesday, November 5, 2008.
She was born in North Carolina, traveled the world as a Navy wife, moved to Merritt Island, Florida in 1985, and relocated to Mount Dora in 1998.
Mrs. Sueur was preceded in death by her husband, CDR Charles A. Sueur, USN RET. Survivors include her daughter, Rebekah McReynolds (John) of Apopka, FL; son, Rhys Sueur (Cheryl) of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter, Theresa McReynolds; grandson, William McReynolds (Gina); and great-grandchildren, Clayton and Alexis McReynolds.
A memorial service will be held at the Waterman Village Chapel at 2 PM on Friday, November 21, 2008.
Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery.

Peggy Scott
Peggy Scott, 75, of Clopton, AL passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2008. Services and interment will take place in Alabama.

Rochford H. Ern “Rox”
Rochford H. Ern “Rox”, 93, of Waterman Village, Mount Dora, FL passed away peacefully on January 28, 2010, surrounded by his loving wife of 71 years, Carole, loving family members and his faithful caregiver, “Runner”.
Originally from Locust, NJ, he was a Civil Engineer and self-made entrepreneur specializing in the water utility industry and golf course construction.
He had spent most of the past 35 years in Florida, splitting time between homes in “Ocean Reef” at Key Largo and Stuart, Florida where he operated Intra-Coastal Utilities Co.
Besides his wife Carole, he is survived by daughter, Gail Altiere and husband, Dan of Warren of NJ; sons, Gary and wife, Adrienne of Lincroft, NJ, Robert of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Rocque and wife, Lisa of Santa Cruz, CA; and 11 grandchildren including Robert Ern, Jr. and wife, Terri of Eustis, FL and Gregory Ern and wife, Natalie of Vero Beach, FL; and 16 great-grand children.
Funeral services were handled privately.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Linda Jo Stoothoff
Linda Jo Stoothoff, 58, of Mount Dora, FL passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2010 after fighting a courageous 3 year battle with breast cancer.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose loss can never be replaced.
She was born on July 11, 1951 in Paducah, KY to L.J. Mosley and Billie Jo Griffin.
Linda moved to Central Florida from Corpus Christi, TX in 1967. She was a public school teacher.
Linda is survived by her mother, Billie Jo Thomas; stepfather, Colen Thomas; husband, Christopher J. Stoothoff of Mount Dora, FL; son, Christopher J. Stoothoff II of Fresno, CA; daughter, Melanie Lynn Stoothoff of Mount Dora, FL; sister, Kelly Renee Thomas of Mount Dora, FL; 2 grandchildren, Mia Abbott and Mason Walton; and 2 nieces Lacey Renee Carter of Orlando, FL and Kami Carter of Hyde Park, NY.
Visitation will be held from 3-5 P.M. on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at the Allen J. Harden Funeral Home in Mount Dora, FL.
A funeral service will be held at 3 P.M. on Monday, February 1, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church of Mount Dora with Pastor Gary Upleger officiating.
Interment will take place at Pine Forest cemetery in Mount Dora, FL.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Rd., Tavares, FL 32778.

Roy Tommie Holloway, Sr.
Roy Tommie Holloway, Sr., 70, of Eustis, FL passed away on Monday, January 25, 2010.
He was born on July 31, 1939 in Apopka, FL to the late Roy Vincent Holloway and Althea Holloway.
Roy was a lifelong resident of Central Florida. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
Roy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ in Cleveland, TN and he worked for Sprint Co. for over 30 years.
Roy is survived by his wife, Joan Holloway of Eustis, FL; sons, Philip E. McWilliams of Apopka, FL, Roy Tommie Holloway, Jr. of Umatilla, FL, Wayne K. Holloway, Stephan G. Holloway, and Jonathon W. Holloway; daughter, Janet E. Carrubba; sisters, Jean Palmer, Carol Paris, and Marsha McGee; and 8 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 P.M. on Friday, January 29, 2010 at the Allen J. Harden Funeral Home in Mount Dora, FL.
Funeral services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Roy’s memory to the Genealogy Department of the Leesburg Public Library.
