Thomas L. Pagliarella, 91, Inverness, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, in Inverness.

He was a retired construction plumber.

He was born Sept. 7, 1910, to Romeo and Concetta Pagliarella in Hoboken, N.J.

He moved to the area in 1976 from New York.

He was the former owner of Tomaso’s Pizza and B & W Restaurant Sons of Italy.

He was Catholic.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Robles Pagliarella; a son, Robert Ferber; and a daughter, Irene Jones.

He is survived by a son, Michael Cubbins of Texas; two daughters, Grace and Ruben Cardona of Inverness and Stephanie and Peter Chambers of Phoenix, Ariz.; a son-in-law, Brian Jones of Inverness; a brother, Daniel Pagliarella of Binghamton, N.Y.; two sisters, Lucille Perillo of Maryland and Julia Lamperrelli of Bronx, N.Y.; nine grandchildren, Vikki, Thomas, Jennifer, Patrick, Timothy, Lisa, Marty, Charles, Edward and Vincenza; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Edwin Berkowitz, 63 Beverly Hills

Edwin R. Berkowitz, 63, Beverly Hills, died Wednesday, March 20, 2002.

Born Nov. 13, 1938, in Riverside, N.J., to Max and Mary Berkowitz, he came here in 1994 from Clifton, Va.

Mr. Berkowitz worked for the federal government for 28 years as program manager in Drug Enforcement Administration, Oak Ridge Grounds Association.

He graduated from George Washington University in 1972. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

He was a member of George Washington University Alumni Association; Masonic Lodge No. 28 F&AM, Burlington, N.J.; and past president of Vienna Virginia Babe Ruth Baseball League.

He was Jewish.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Schecter Berkowitz of Beverly Hills; son, Jack (Kathy) Berkowitz of Brussels, Belgium; daughter, Julie (Dr. Jack) Newman of Wake Forest, N.C.; mother, Mary Berkowitz of Lake Worth; brothers, Peter N. (Charlotte) Berkowitz of Houston, Texas, Berni (Barbara) Berkowitz of Cherry Hill, N.J., Cyril “Gig” (Dee) Berkowitz of Richmond, Va., and David (Judy) Berkowitz of Huntsville, Ala.; sister, Irene Berkowitz of Philadelphia, Pa.; and five grandchildren.

Velma R. Dreblow, 88 Inglis

Velma R. Dreblow, 88, Inglis, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, in Tampa.

She was born in Cross City and came here in 1940 from Gulf Hammock.

Mrs. Dreblow was a homemaker. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was a member of the Florida Power Pioneers Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Charles Dreblow.

Survivors include two sons, Norman A. Dreblow of Navarre and Charles L. “Sammy” Dreblow of Norfolk, Va.; three daughters, Elizabeth A. Cooley of New Port Richey, Sylvia M. Brass of Dunnellon and Connie L. Magnone of Macclenny; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Ernest Duvall, 73, Lecanto

Ernest Duvall, 73, Lecanto, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at the Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness. He came here 20 years from Louisville, Ky.

Mr. Duvall was Pentecostal and attended the Christian Church in Homosassa. He retired in 1982 from Philip Morris in Louisville, Ky. He enjoyed music and singing and he also enjoyed his computer. Thirteen brothers and sisters preceded him in death. A son, Jeffrey Ernest Duvall, preceded him in death in 1960.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Fannie June (Ashby) Duvall of Lecanto; three daughters, Brenda Lynn Gooch, Marty Ann Stober and Tracy Ashby Vincent, all of Louisville, Ky.; three sons, Anthony K. Duvall of Fort Lauderdale and Michael Ray Duvall and Eric Edward Duvall, both of Louisville; a brother and sister-in-law, Eskel and Evelyn Ashby of Folsomville; friend and adopted family member, Mary B. Casper; a brother-in-law, Frank Coulter of Grayville, Ill.; a brother-in-law, Adam Broshears of Brooksville; a sister-in-law, Lula Mae Ashby of Decatur, Ill.; a sister-in-law Rosemary Ashby of Lynnville, Ind.; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services took place March 14 at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel in Boonville, Ind. Brother Jack Ashby officiated at the service. Burial was at Shiloh cemetery in Folsomville, Ind.

Edith Haffner, 86 Inglis

Edith P. Haffner, 86, Inglis, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at Seven Rivers Community Hospital, Crystal River.

Mrs. Haffner was born Jan. 8, 1916, in Columbus, Ga., to Ralph and Mary Peterson.

She is survived by her husband, Irwin D. Haffner of Inglis; daughters, Mary Alyce Crothers of St. Cloud and Judy A. Gautier of Kyle, Texas; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Clarence Hayes, 73 Metter, Ga.

Clarence Hayes, 73, Cobbtown, Ga., who lived in Floral City for many years until about a year ago, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at Candler County Hospital after a brief illness.

Mr. Hayes was a retired heavy equipment operator. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was owner of Hayes Country Kitchen Restaurant in Floral City.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Willene Hayes, and a daughter, Debra Jean Hayes.

He is survived by two sons, Ray Hayes of Live Oak and Johnny M. Hayes of Cobbtown, Ga.; three daughters, Gwen Perez of Hollywood, Teresa Elliott and Tena Neunaber, both of Bethalto, Ill.; a sister, Joyce Harris of Cobbtown, Ga.; two brothers, Talmadge Hayes and James Hayes, both of Cobbtown, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pearl Hollis, 78 Homosassa

Pearl M. Hollis, 78, Homosassa, died Sunday, March 31, 2002, in Hernando.

Born Jan. 23, 1924, in Binghamton, N.Y., to Harry and Nellie Baxter, she came here in 1990 from Safety Harbor.

Mrs. Hollis was a hotel owner and operator.

She was Methodist.

Survivors include her husband of six years, Lester C. Hollis of Homosassa; three brothers, George Baxter of Port Orange, Walter Baxter of Binghamton, N.Y., and Bill Baxter of Florida; and two sisters, Hilda Huptfleish of Endicott, N.Y., and Nellie Holbrook of Binghamton, N.Y.

Joseph Kosh Jr., 75 Beverly Hills

Joseph T. Kosh Jr., 75, Beverly Hills, died Monday, April 1, 2002, in Crystal River.

A native of Detroit, Mich., he came here 16 years ago from Canton, Mich.

Mr. Kosh was a retired loan officer for a bank. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II.

He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter FL-2.

He was Protestant.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Zenia G. Kosh of Beverly Hills; three sons, Thomas and Craig Kosh of Michigan and David Kosh of Orlando; one daughter, Darlene Wilk of Michigan; a sister, Alice Kosh of Michigan; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Walter Ludlum, 81 Beverly Hills

Walter W. Ludlum, 81, Beverly Hills, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, in Inverness.

A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., he came here 17 years ago from West Islip, N.Y.

Mr. Ludlum was a butcher. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He loved to fish and garden and was a charter member of the Rainbow Rivers Club.

He was Protestant.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Catherine M. Ludlum of Beverly Hills; son, William Ludlum of Kansas; daughters, Joyce Bonessi of North Carolina and Kathleen Mele of North Babylon, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.

Benita Mohr, 71 Dunnellon

Benita Lorelle Mohr, 71, Dunnellon, died Sunday, March 31, 2002, in Ocala.

Born in Citronelle, she was a life resident of this area.

Mrs. Mohr was a retired bookkeeper for the Citrus County School System.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Dunnellon.

Survivors include her husband, Gilbert H. Mohr of Dunnellon; two sons, John Duncan of Jacksonville and Jack Duncan of Crystal River; one brother, Joseph Hatcher of Dunnellon; two sisters, Nellie Williams and Mildred Bertine, both of Crystal River; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.

Joanne Poston, 72 Crystal River

Joanne Matthews Poston, 72, Crystal River, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at her residence under the care of her family and Hospice of Citrus County.

Born June 10, 1929, in Detroit, Mich., to Joseph and Gladness Matthews, she came here in 1995 from Bainbridge, Ga.

Mrs. Poston retired in 1987 as senior desk clerk for LaQuinta Motor Inn, Tallahassee.

She was a member of Northeast Baptist Church, St. Petersburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Barney Calvin Poston, Dec. 22, 1998; and a granddaughter, Adrienne Jacqueline Mather.

Survivors include three daughters, Gloria Godwin, Carol Munroe and Brenda Keller, all of Crystal River; one sister, Gladness Brown of Venice; five grandchildren, Tiffany James, Cari Godwin, Remsen Mather, Amber Keller and Andrew Keller, all of Crystal River; two great-grandsons; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
